When you activate google wallet, you get $10, can you use that $10 for apps?
i think that 10.00 credit goes into your back card you activated. Its not that you activate the google wallet. i think you get the credit for using the nfc for the first time at a brick and mortar retailer.
I COULD Be wrong . i have had google wallet since the switched my google merchant to it years of using google pay customer here as well as i have a pay pal debit/ credit card . never use your real cards online or even paying for a meal out to dinner .

i have the same question, or even if we can use it to buy anything online would be cool, i don't think i want to go to a 7 eleven with my huge tablet and pay with it!
I think I heard it's for NFC purchases only.
So, go to a Starbucks nearby and get yourself something.
How would that work. The nexus 7 is a WIFI only device, to use the Wallet app you need an internet connection.

And mods: Can you please verify my account... I've been on for a long time, and this 5 minute restriction is really annoying...

No go in Australia - so far
Flashed Shopper and Wallet APKS onto my rooted stocked 2.3.6 Nexus S here in Australia.
The NFC component works - the shop's cash machine and wallet app 'talk' to each other, yet the transaction is declined. Also, can't add fund to prepaid card using Australian debit/credit cards.
Does any Master Card work or is it only Citi Cards? I would live to hook this to my standard MC Debit card if I could.

The where it works link is much more accurate I found today than the app they recommend that's for sure.

O and only "some" Citi MasterCards
So you may have noticed that the latest OTA brought us wallet on the n7. Is this usable considering we don't necessarily have data while shopping at a store? Does wallet require data?

does a credit card require data? all it has to do is mimic the rfid signature that the wireless credit cards use.

I've been using Wallet since the day I got it at I/O and now you don't need data to use it. The NFC chip "remembers" the last balance on your account when you had a data connection on the device.

those of yall that are rooted remember to go into the settings in the google wallet app and reset it before you flash a new rom. you have to actually do this from in the app, not titanium or anyway else, from inside the app. there is a risk that you will bork your nfc( just for wallet purposes, not for android beam). i forgot to do that a few times when i flashed a new rom on my evo and everything is still fine for me. but yea seriously this is posted anywhere that google wallet was posted in the evo lte forums. im not sure of the validity of this but something yall should look into it. happy spending

Alright since i do not have a credit card, and my maestro doesnt work for online payments,

google doesnt let ppl in sweden to use prepaid google play giftcards, nor prepaid visa/mastercards such as spendon cuz on that last one your name have to be the same on the card as on your account. furthermore, since i live in sweden, paypal does not apply to me either since they only issue a card in the USA. so now what? is there any oher solution that can be done?

If you have a phone that is linked to the same Google account as your tablet, purchase the app on your phone through whichever payment you usually use. After it's purchased, you can then download and install the purchased app on any device linked to your Google account. Alternately, go to the Play Store through your regular browser, and purchase through there.. push to your device, and you're good to go.

Are there any pre-payment cards available in your country you could use online in the same manner as a credit card?
EDIT refer to this thread on the same theme [add the three w`s to the address]

My suggestion is get a credit card but request a limit.. When first got my credit card I had 5k limit, I told them make it 500. This helps control your spending

If Google is rejecting your prepaid card because the name doesn't match, maybe you should solve that problem instead? Are you sure a regular card wouldn't have the same restriction?

I discovered this by accident (& fortunately in time) that with a purchase of a new Moto G, if you access Google Drive within 30 days you can click to take advantage of an additional 50 Gb of cloud storage on your Google account for 2 years at no cost!
You snooze - you lose!
I think everyone who owns a moto g know this. no need to open a thread for this.

In my case (XT1028 Verizon) I have never activated the phone so it appears the countdown started when I first entered my Google account credentials.
The first visit to Drive on the device starts with a tutorial & on the last page presents the clickable offer.
I've bought first the 8 gb version and activated the 50Gb promo, but soon after I discovered a dead pixel on the screen and returned the phone back. Misfortune did not allow me to exchange or buy a new one, since they were all sold out and I bought 16 Gb in another country, so now I both have 50Gb in GDrive and 16 Gb on the device Sorry for a little boasting So I guess the next guy who buys the fixed device wouldn't get google's promo, right?

The reason for me to skip this and several other simular past offers, is that it is temperary. With prices gDrive dropped I almost took a cheap subscription with Google. The reason I didn't is that Drive only works with Windows with all cloud files permanently synced on harddrive. I find that ridiculous. When I use cloud I want to spare the space on my hard drive. OneDrive and Box I can use in Windows without the need to have all those gigabytes of data on my hard drives at all times.

The downside of using cloud storage and not having optic fiber is that it's not really effective... We shall wait Google fiber worldwide and probably that will give us direct unlimited connection speed to Google.
