Personally I'm a fan of CM DSPManager (better sound and options than MusicFX), so I ported for U8800. It's working on dzo's Aurora ICS 4.0.4 v4.0, flashed on genokolar's CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7.
Install instructions:
- Flash attached .zip on CWM
- Go to Settings -> Sound -> Music effects and choose DSPManager
In case of any problem try to clean cache and dalvik on CWM, install the .zip, fix permissions on CWM and flash the .zip again. Be aware that MusicFX could be broken in some situations and FC, just remove the MusicFX.apk from /system/app.
Big shouts to: dzo, genokolar, spirosbond, blefish
Hit thanks
Thanks it works very good...
I'm also a big fan of dsp...

It should be, but Aurora is not CM9. The framework would need rework I think, settings are linked to trebuchet also. It's not in my plans, maybe some theme modder can do it
Is it working on Aurora 2.04? I won't update to 3.0 kernel until dzo fix that wifi bug.

It should work, but didn't tried. Safe way is to make a nandroid backup on CWM and install. If any problem appears, just restore the backup.
I dont think that the BT settings make any diff. Can anyone else confirm?
Edit: actually its Apollo issue, the EQ do not aply. : (
Ive installed with the previously version of aurora ICS from dzo, and had no problem.
But now, with the version 3.1u5, the sound when i click applications just vanished, the other sounds work perfectly.
Does it have anything to do with DSPManager? Or does anyone had this kinda of issue?
Tks in advance,

Don't think so, try with MusicFX on. Nevertheless, I never realized there's a open program sound

I don't have bluetooth headphones, only headsets, so no noticeable eq improvements. What's Apollo?
Its the CM9 Music player.
Actually, i had an older version of it. The headphones EQ works with the latest version of Apollo, but i havent tested BT yet, its out of battery atm.

Hello I have a Defy MB525 and I'd like to give it an upgrade and since there's no official Android releases above 2.2 I'm thinking about installing CM) which is 4.0 based right? I'd like to know how's the performance? does it become slower or how many bugs are? would you recommended it? thanks in advanced, it looks really good so I'd like to try it!
dear friend, trust me .you'd better use the CM9 latest by quarx's.Now we all taste the JB already
anyway the Quarx's CM series(CM7,CM9.CM10) are very perfect on Defy.
You must to try for it!:good:
for everyday rom, try cm9 by epsylon froyo kernel. I am using it and there's no issue or bug I have encountered (I use my defy as a phone).
What are the major differences between Quarx's and Epsylon ROMS? thanks you both for the info!:good:
there is no difference in both builds, afterall both are ics...
why don't you try both using multiboot and decide yourself.
I will give them a try, both releases can be found on Development section right? any link? thank you!
EDIT: Now that you mention it? how can I use multiboot? could I have stock rom and custom rom?

There is multiboot thread in development section, just go through it and you will find out how.
And yes you can have stock rom as base rom and custom rom as virtual rom as long as you have same kernel for both.( for mb525 its froyo kernel)
Btw the link for multiboot - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364659
Thanks! Do you have by any chance the links for CM9 by Quarx and Epsylon? thank you!

NOT RECOMMENDED. The performance you'd get from a ROM installed to your microSD (that's what multiboot does!) is inferior to having installed in the ROM partition of the phone.

Cm9 by epsylon - http://defy-cm.net/
And by quarx - http://quarx2k.ru/
I will skip the installation of MultiBoot for now, but I will try either Quarx's or Epsylon's ROM, thank you!!

Did you even read the forums?

Do you feel the CM10 917+ Builds are less buttery or more choppy... It is due to a change in the CM source that removes VSYNC and replaces it with IOCTL that is much more power efficient.! Anyway if you want the smoothness over power until CM fixes it...
Flash this pack to revert the changes to the VSYNC.! [works with 917&918]
PS: Make sure you flash Either CM10 914 Kernel or Semaphore 2.1.0/2.1.0s or Devil before 917 , else you will have a black screen, after flashing the pack as they require kernel change.!
PS: New NOMUTEX Patch by pawitp. Download.! [Flash in Recovery. No need for kernel changes.]
ok, good to know there is a workaround for when the latest flashed cm10 is lagging, thx for that!
one question though: you only write cm10kernel or semaphore, is it not possible to use this with devil-kernel?
EDIT: 1.4.1 of DerTeufel's jellybean-kernel should work, too, shouldn't it?
it was made before the vsync-change and it is a kernel for cm10.
or is there any specific reason why devil-kernel not works for this?
EDIT2: ok, i just saw your edit right now, thx!
so everybody that wants to use cm10 WITHOUT the new vsync-change WITH devil-kernel should flash version 1.4.1 of it after flashing this mod.
greetz n thx,
sUsH
Is hellybean using VSYNC or IOCTL (knowing that devil kernel is vsync)

Yes the latest version is.
yeah i experience the same problem
after flashing back to 9/14
all problem gone
I think there's bug in 17and 18 version
I read from the thread that the 918 build solves the problem... Don't quote me on this though.
so for the NOMUTEX-patch-thing it is NOT necessary to flash an older kernel, is that right?
greetz,
sUsH
Thanks nice that someone works on it!

ah, ok, i get it, no kernel mod required cause there is a kernel included that gets flashed when using this zip...
so i better ask again:
can this new patch be used with other kernels?
and since there is a kernel included, the way would be
1. flash rom
2. flash patch
3. flash wished kernel
is that right?
EDIT: any idea what the patch.diff in the flashable is good for?
thx for clarification!
greetz,
sUsH

I believe IOCTL will hold a lock on the framebuffer that is released only during the next vsync. this is the reason for microlags.

IOCTL is Input Output Control. It is a specific system call/api that does i/o operations in the system.

This is a small script to enable BLN for CM10.1 ROM. So, you don't have to use app NSTools to do that.
Note: This script is only enable BLN. If you want to config your BLN, let use this app BLN control.
Download and enjoy .
did this work on cm11/omnirom too?
edit: works on omni too.

I recommend you reflash your ROM with this ROM CM10.1 by jenkins build. This is latest build for CM10.1 and i am using this.
