With my galaxy note i feel like despite having a good camera at hand but i am still missing the cam shutter button.

The last time I used a phone which has a shutter was probably the Nokia N82 if i am correct...at first I really missed the shutter button but I have become used to the onscreen camera button after using several android phones. I find it more quicker and more convenient to take photos than a dedicated button. What I really missed is a physical keyboard......
U can use some programs as camera ICS or so to assign hardware keys like volume as a cam shutter button..

Yes, use the volume rocker in order to use the digital zoom.
There is no optical zoom though.. Its probably better to edit the photos later than use digital zoom..
Ha sorry I just accidentally found the zoom for the camera after having the phone for a month.

what the camera had a zoom since when.
.......The volume rocker keys....?............who didnt know that? .......

Alot of people didn't know that. I just found out last week.

It is not a true zoom. You're better off not using it and cropping on your pc because that is all it is.

I wouldn't say it's that obvious in the app. I stumbled upon it on accident trying to lower the volume of the shutter.
I didn't know. LOL. Thanks

It was a cool discovery for me too. Saddly it is probably the worst function on a this great camera app. "digital" zoom stinks. It should be called instant quality degrade button.
Love the camera tho...

True. I do however like how I can push and hold the shutter screen button to lock in focus with a green box, then release the button by pulling my finger away to almost reduce all camera shake. No camera shake = sharper shots.
Best point and shoot I have ever used, but I'm a photographer by trade so I only have used a few point and shoot cameras. I like this one, but who the hell am I? ;-)

Verizon SGT built-in camera has no zoom features. Please confirm. Others camera apps from market zoom freeze the camera application. Any help will be appreciated.

Silly question, but did you try the volume rocker?
I knew about the volume rocker. It doesn't work. I have both Droid 1 & Droid X. It looks like mine is defected. Thanks for your confirmation.

Called Verizon, confirmed the camera zoom feature is not available. Too bad.

It's not just Verizon, it's the entire Tab range that does not have a zoom function for the camera.
There is however a workaround which involves using a third-party camera app named Vignette.
Vignette uses a live action crop tool which is basically the same as the digital zoom you find on any phone camera.
What is so great though about Vignette is it is far, far better in use than the stock camera App on the Tab.
Vignette has so many additional settings and effects for you to use, it's quite unbelievable. Not only that, I did a series of tests between Vignette & the stock camera and found on all accounts Vignette produced much sharper photos with more natural colours. What was also amazing was the crop tool (which is presented as a sliding zoom level) actually produces good results at various levels of zoom.
Go on, give vignette a try, I am sure you will be amazed and quite happy with it. It's become my Camera App of choice now.
Thanks for the info. I will try this out.

Hello team
What camera app do you use on your GN ( ICS ) ?
I personally love the default app however I cant change my default photo save folder from
"Storage Card/DCIM/Camera"
to
"Storage Card/My Documents/Camera"
I heard its possible with other apps and so was curious which one you'd recommend
THanks !
I do use stock but I'd like some app like HTC one X has... It takes like 100 pics per second lol.. I don't know if note its hardware capable of this.. But I'm really interested on this Topic also

As I was unsatisfied by the stock camera in terms of speed, I started looking around and found CameraMX, which is a lot faster than the stock camera, but I haven't tried out the effects...I'm not interested in effects, just solid picturetaking, so I will also try your suggestions. But if anybody has found a real snappy one (like the aforementioned One X camera), it would be nice if you would write it here

This is the 1 of the best Camera app available which competes a li'll bit with HTC ONE X and Galaxy S3 's Camera...
It can take about 200 photos at a time and yes almost 130 to 150 photos are of good quality«gud atmospheric and hand stability required»
....it also has a Free version if u cant afford but lacks some of the features like Flash etc lol

I've been looking for a physical button to take pictures, its kinda hard to take selfies even when using the front camera with just one hand. Does anybody know how to make a physical shutter button? Like on some phones you can take a picture by holding down the the volume down button?

You can do this with a camera app called Camera FV-5
It's pretty common on third-party cameras; both Camera ZOOM FX and lgCamera can assign the shutter action to a hardware button.
