Has anyone had any luck getting a Fire to connect to the Adhoc Wifi thru their X? Running a rooted stock X with Barnacle, Open Garden & Wifi Tether Beta10 & 11. Fire is rooted stock with the Zt-180 app installed to try to get the Fire to use Adhoc Wifi. Set the app up to use my Droid in Adhoc mode and can connect to the DROID but no apps work. Have tried some of the other phone profiles as suggested but with no luck. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
My Defy is running CM7, and the inbuilt gingerbread tethering works with infrastructure mode, but like others I have found using encryption with the gingerbread tethering crashes the connection.
So I've been trying the Wifi tether app, but can't get it to work in infrastructure mode. I know the app supports it, but has a problem with the Defy. Also the latest beta doesn't work on the Defy at all. I have tried copying the custom hostapd file to /system/bin, but no joy.
Does anyone know of a wifi tether app that works on the Defy and supports infrastructure mode? The defy obviously does support infrastructure mode as gingerbread does it.
I'm running Hyperrunner's Glazed Rom on my Nexus 7 (16gb)
Is there any way to get SSH or SFTP working? (server not client)
(I want to transfer files directly from my PC).
I've tried a couple of apps from the market (QuickSSH, DropBear SSH),
But they don't work (I think they are just wrappers for the standard ssh server).
Both these apps work from on my Acer Iconia (on ICS).
Is there an issue with the SSH server on Jellybean?, and if so is ther a fix/workaround
Thanks
So, i'm not sure what the issue is, or if this has already been addressed.
I have my tablet and phone set up on a VPN using vpnCilla, that works.
I set up SMB through AntTek File Explorer on both devices, that works.
However! when attempting to access the SMB drive, it hangs, lags, or times out.
My coworker has the same setup on a Galaxy tab (stock) and able to access the network through the exact same method like butter.
Could this be an issue with how JB 4.1.2 handles data packets? (both my devices have 4.1.2 installed, rooted).
I've tried 4 other SMB compatible file managers, gives me the same result.
Hi,
I got a strange probolem when trying to access files on a samba share. The share is on a Pogoplug running ArchLinux and I can access it from Xubuntu fine. Howerver, on the N7 using ES File Explorer, i can browse the directories fine. I can even create new files. But as soon as I try to access a file, I get an error saying "parameter incorrect" or "Cache remote file failed". The problem occurss on publish shares as well as user shared. I tried other Samba clients than ES File Explorer, but the result is always the same. Anybody an idea how to solve this?
Also works flawlessly on my iPhone, just tried. Anybody know any special samba options required or incompatible with android?

Just realize this question may be better in the networking forum. Cab an operator move out there please?

Just tried to browse a Windows share from my N7, and that works fine, so there must be something specific to the Linux samba setup that the N7 doesn't like.
Found the solution, this appears to be a Samba bug: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9706
Setting unix extensions = no in the smb.conf fixes it for now.
