Jelly Bean 4.1 and Chrome - Kindle Fire General

So if you use googles' browser chrome for your kindle, you will find that as you upgrade it to jelly bean you loose flash, and thus you loose chrome.
But have no fear, you can side-load flash and still get chrome from the play store.
just sayin :victory:

Thank you captain.

Not. True. At. All. Chrome doesn't even come pre-installed OR in the GApps.

I am using chrome now to type this. I got it from the play store. When I put flash in I used an old install and took the parts I needed from the /data put it on my sdcard and copy them to their respected locales. I believe you can get the same result by just using an apk. But I like doing it the hard way.

What does flash have to do at all with Chrome? They're entirely separate entities... Flash isn't officially supported beyond 4.0, so you have to sideload, but Chrome is definitely going to be in the play store for the foreseeable future

jb + Chrome is a good couple

I am on a 4.1.1 rom that lacks flash player and have had no issue running Chrome. Obviously flash content is not available but everything else is working fine for me.

Root your device, then install the stock JB browser and the flash APK. Do a search for both on xda, you should have no problem finding them. Or you can use an older version of Dolphin browser like 8.5.1 instead of the stock browser, this will not require rooting the device though you will need to set the option for allowing installations from unknown sources in Settings.
Read this thread. It has everything you need to get flash working on the N7.

Download the APK directly from Adobe:
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/...roid/11.1.115.17/install_flash_player_ics.apk
Then download a browser from the Play Store that supports the flash plugin on Jelly Bean (not Chrome or Dolphin). I use Boat Browser.

Adobe Flash on Jelly Bean

I know that Flash is no longer officially supported but ran into something that I am not sure how to work around. I have had my note since it came out so I had flash installed long before updates. I side loaded flash long ago and it works with dolphin browser as well as stock ( i know it does not work with chrome).
My issue is a friend of mine just got a new note 10.1 and while he can side load flash none of the browsers will play flash content. The message of "adobe flash 10.1 or higher is required". In dolphin the flash content toggle is disabled. Is there any way to change that?
I thought this would be easier and I have searched the forum and can't seem to find anything that has current instructions.
Any help would be great.

Problem lounching Chrome

Hello everyone,
I seem to have a strange problem with Chrome all of a sudden. I am on stock rooted 4.3.2 and most I do with my ROM is to integrate updated apps into it, other than that, no customizations, etc. When I try to run Chrome, I get a message that Chrome couldn't be run, that either it is not installed properly or that some component is missing. I might have integrated Chrome update into the ROM - but I've done that several times until now and had no problems whatsoever....
What is the easiest way to solve this? I'd hate to have to flash the stock rom, thus lose all my apps/data - because I don't have enought space left on internal storage to make titanium backup
Can I uninstall Chrome (system app?) and then try to install from Play and make it a System app from Titanium?
Thanx
D.
SOLVED!
It didn't want Chrome to be System app. By making it User app, it started working again. Strange, I'm pretty sure it was a system app...

Flash player crashes all browsers since upgrading to 4.3

Ever since upgrading to 4.3 I have been unable to watch any flash video on my nexus 7. I've upgraded to the latest version of adobe flash and have tried firefox, its beta, boat, aosp browser, and next browser. It always crashes as soon as any flash content begins to load. Anyone know how to dfix this? I'm incredibly frustrated with this.

this is a known problem and there really isn't a consistent way to fix it. mix and matching browsers and flash versions seems to only have a hit and miss effectiveness. it is a problem between android 4.3 and flash and there hasnt been a real fix for it. the only browser that i've been able to get to work consistantly with flash on 4.3 is UC Browser. there's a lot of things i dont like about it but it gets the job done when i need to use flash.
Firefox BETA also seems to work fine with flash... I had no luck with other browsers...
4.2.2 flashback fixed my 4.3 problems.

I have v4.3 JB. I installed Flash Player 11.1 and it works perfectly with firefox browser. I went to firefox setting and enabled the plugins. I tried to make the latest Dolphin browser works with the flash player but no luck. I don't understand why Google hates so much Flash player that they prevent people to install the plugin (not available in play store and need to check "unknown source" to install the plugin).

[Q] Adobe Flash Player Support in KitKat

I got the update to KitKat but Flash in Firefox stopped working, as you all know.
I did install the hacked Flash Player, that which works only on Dolphin.
In fact, I hate Dolphin. But the support to flash is half-assed to say the least, 50% of the time I go to see a desktop versione of a youtube video, it has some problems: hangs, goes too fast, can't skip, It's a pain.
Is there any other better workaround available ATM? Non-rooted preferrably. At least to get flash working with other browsers.
Otherwise it might be soon that I have found a reason for rooting.
Thanks.

My country got KitKat update last night. After searching, thanks to the XDA Nexus 5 site, i am able to have flash again. Basically I just installed Firefox Beta and re-installed the same Flash player i had before. And it works. Ah yes, I am not rooted.

Great!!! Just did as you suggested and work perfectly. It's Firefox Beta that made the trick. Firefox standard doesn't work.
Thanks a lot!
