I'm on At&t. Can i root after the OTA update and where is the best tut?

Yes, you can root after accepting the OTA. You will have to decide yourself on which root method to use. They are easy to find in the Developement section.
If you have root before update, download voodoo OTA root keeper. Run it before upgrade. After upgrade, use it to restore root. Just remember you have to be on stock recovery for update to apply.

There are a few ways. Check my sig I find this way works good. YMMV. Jump in the water is fine.

Yes. Toasts method was unaffected
What the heck, is this a temporary un-root? I am on my rooted stock kermal/rom Epic that I used one-click root(PC) to root my phone. I wanted to unroot using z4root and I was unrooted until I turned my phone off. When I did I was rooted again. BTW, it took about a millisecond to unroot.

Might not unroot unless you rooted with it.

OK. Thanks. I might try re-root but I don't want to brick.

It's not really possible to brick most android devices unless you mess with the radios.
Does anyone know how to pull an app and its data from tb? I don't want to root quite yet, but I desperately need a certain app that I previously backed up before my upgrade to gs4.

UnRooting is quite easy if you're on MDC. Just Google unroot Samsung galaxy s4.

You can skip the part where he talks about getting the update. This root worked for me. You can change recovery after you're done.
Warning: not sure if there is an unroot. You might be able to flash back to unroot but I am not sure. If anyone knows please say so.

I have the voodoo root keeper app and I'm wondering if anyone that is rooted has tried using this app and installed the mf9 ota. Looking to avoid losing my root or causing a potential brick by downloading and just installing it. Thanks in advance!

If you are non rooted and on MDL you can just flash the ota zip. There's almost no chance of bricking.

I'm rooted and on the stock MDL rom. Only thing I've done is remove bloat

If you are rooted with stock MDL why even bother with the OTA? This will give you the same results without having to re-root or change recovery. Just follow steps in post #2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357471
Can't answer your question about the voodoo app though.

Not sure, I don't think it should.
No, just rooting will not prevent you from getting OTA updates, just don't change the bootloader. However when and if you get an OTA update, it might remove the root.
So I have rooted and flashed twrp recovery. Does this change my bootloader?

You will need to flash the stock firmware file to go back to stock.
But I'm still on stock firmware, I just rooted and flashed twrp, I haven't flashed any roms. Shouldn't I still be able to get the ota?
And with IO Root, which is the way i rooted my phone, doesn't it bypass the bootloader and leave it locked?
Sent from my LG-LS980 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
No you should not

I suggest you should download the latest firmware kdz file and flash via flashtool. You cannot update over the OTA. My friends have get hard brick their phones because they have rooted and flashed TWRP. Be careful,
Well on Sprint it worked fine. Can you link me to the file? And is getting back to stock the same?
The Sprint forum doesn't have a thread on returning to stock
