Firstly, I apologize if this has been mentioned before. I wanted to share it though in case it has not been. I have searched and haven't found anything in these forums. Anyways, I have had an annoying issue for a while now where the ringtone only plays half the sound when I receive an SMS message. Another friend of mine has had the same issue. Email and phone notification ringtones are fine. If any of you are having this problem, this seems to fix it.
Go to your SMS mesages -> Choose Settings -> then Uncheck 'Delete Old Messages'.
It is trying to delete an older message in the SMS thread and while doing so, the sound stops playing so you only hear half.
I found this on another android forum as its been bugging me for a while now, so just wanted to share

Hi guys, i am new to this forum and after going through some of the threads i can say that this is a gr8 forum to find help regarding ppc phones. Hence, I hope that someone could solve the problem i have been having with my sms ringtone.
I just bought an Imate Jamin a week back and i am definitely loving it. Anyways, the first thing i did, is make a few custom incoming call and sms ringtones and set it up on my device. Now the incoming call ringtones are working as usual but the sms ringtones have a problem. A particular sms ringtone is around 15-20 secs long, and when i recieve a new sms, the ringtone keeps playin even after opening a new sms and also after closing it.
As far as i know from previous experience, the ringtone should stop playing once i have pressed the appropriate button to open the sms. My friends are using the same sms ringtones on their nokia and motorolla phones but they dont have such problems. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be.
I can't answer you this question but have a request: do you have some nice sms ringtones to share with me??

Yeah sure man. I 'll give you the one i am using at the moment. However, the ringtone is in wav format and i cant seem to upload wav files on this site. You might have to give me your email add or if you know a better way to send the files to you pls let me know.

Hi, I have gone to the wicki and read as far back as i can and can't find anything that is quite the same as my issue so i hope you can help. It regards setting my own text alerts. I have saved to wav and can select my file as a text alert from the drop down list - however it doesn't play any sound when I get a text... although it does play in the media player on the phone.... any ideas anyone?? This has been bugging me for a while.. many thanks

When i receive new text message, most of the time the alert ringtone would not be the one i selected for it.. Sometimes it would play the ringtone for 1 second and it cuts off and sometime it just plays a "beep" sound.. whats wrong with it.. really annoying as i do not notice that i have a new message till few hours later when i check on my phone..

Alright so I've already asked this question twice in the past couple months nut no one seems to be able to help me. I cart get the phone to vibrate for notifications like text messages or email but only for phone calls. Is really like it if I could get some help because when I have the volume on I rarely hear it and it would make things easier for me. Thanks.

I have had the same issue,
What I did to overcome the problem, which might work for you, was to download Handcent messaging and using the notification vibrate on there. It works fine when I go through it.

Has anyone else had problems using GO SMS?
I really like this app and want to continue using it but it's acting really weird.
I'm using GO SMS Pro and when I have a convo with someone I get the notifications fine but when I go back into the thread to see the messages I sometimes see 5 of my texts followed by 5 or so other the other person's.
With one conversation it even listed all my friend's messages first and then all of mine. Is anyone else getting this problem or know of a fix?
Btw, I'm using a Bell Atrix on Rogers.

Go to Go SMS> Settings> Important Tips>Sort type of conversation messages>Sort by order of messages
I was having the same issue when i first installed and Darkkamikaze's suggestion was exactly the issue
That did the job.
So simple yet I didn't see it. I was about to uninstall, glad I didn't.

check the actual times of the text messages. They might be incorrect. If thats the case, get sms fix times from the market.
