So this is my first topic here and since everyone seems so nice I figured this would be the best place to ask this question. Whenever I find a really good locksreen picture it seems as having the ripple effect just complelty washes out the picture and makes it look horrible. I realize that you can disable that effect but I personally like it. So I guess what my question is if there is any way to keep the ripple effect yet have HD like pictures on my lockscreen with the original resolution?
I get my wallpapers from the Zedge app and they all look great on the lockscreen w/ ripple effect. It could just be an issue with the resolution of the wallpapers you're using.

I noticed it with dark wallpapers. I mostly go with dark setups so I had to disable the ripple effect.

Ok this is probably in then because I love dark lockscreens as well =/ well thats kind of disappointing =(
It's emulating water on top of the picture. So yea its gonna be shiny looking, but best bet is to go with vibrant color on lock screen

I was going to make a thread asking the same question, oh well problem solved.
Increase contrast.

I love this app. Although I have issues with the upload and download portion. Just one question/suggestion for the developers. Can u make a version/ option to invert the colors. I've been messing with the gmail app that has black background and im pretty fond of it... plus I hear dark colours significantly reduce battery drain on samoled

Had no idea what you were talking about until I saw the signature.
Yeah, black background would be nice. Blacks on AMOLEDs are basically just the pixels shut off, whereas with LCD the backlight continues to eat energy regardless of whether most of the screen is dark.

Under settings just change the display style to dark. My xda app has the background black w/ white text.

Just an FYI XDA doesn't develop this app, Tapatalk does. They have the same app for hundereds of forums. The forum admin installs a plugin on the server to allow Tapatalk to work, and then they can skin a version of Tapatalk to go with it.
If you have requests for UI/Usefullness you should probably look them up, not XDA.
Hi,
I would like to have a simple app that makes it possible to use a wallpaper of choice. I know i can use apps like WidgetLocker, but that's quite overkill when all i want is to use a different wallpaper then the one on my homescreen.
How difficult and time consuming would it be to make an app like this?

Try lockbot. Works on my phone

Thanks, but it's not what i'm looking for. I don't want a new lockscreen, i'm just interested in setting a lockscreen wallpaper without the bloat.

No, i'm not using password/gesture on my lockscreen. All i want is to use one wallpaper on the lockscreen, and one on my homescreen, like Smokeey says. That's all

(Dev of WidgetLocker)
I don't have an answer to your question. But I have technical information on why such an app doesn't exist and how it possibly could be done.
At the app level, rather than rom level, the only way I can think of to do this without replacing the lock screen, and with the wallpaper behind (rather than on top of) the lock screen, would be for the app to change the system wallpaper when the stock lock screen starts and to change it back on USER_PRESENT.
I don't know how fast a wallpaper change can be done and this might cause annoying visual effects during the change, especially since most of the time the user is unlocking to the Launcher, so the switch would have to happen on screen. It could be annoying if the switch didn't happen until after unlock, also annoying, but maybe less so, if it happened before the lock screen disappeared.
Many thanks for your reply! I have WidgetLocker, but not using it right now, but can you tell us if you plan to release an update with theming support in the near future?
Thanks in advance.

Hi folks - My Dad - all 75 years of techno geek in him - just got a Xoom.
He loves Android (on his EVO & trying to learn the Xoom) but his eyes can't seem to see the status bar down @ the bottom clearly.
It looks dim. Is there way to adjust the brightness for the status bar (particularly the lower right one)?
Thanks.
I don't think there is. It just uses the standard screen brightness setting so its the full screen or nothing I think.

Thanks for the input.
From the lack of responses, I tend to think this isn't a huge issue for people. LOL!
We did adjust the brightness for the screen & it didn't seem to make much of an incremental difference.
Try one of the themes that brighten it up.
Touchwiz is brighter, I'm sure the red theme is brighter as well.

Hmmm...will look for it. Thanks for the idea.
If you're going to use a theme, you will have to convince him to let you root his XOOM.
If you want to go that route and don't feel like installing a completely new theme, I can make a brighter version of the stock control buttons for you. The clock font brightness is not editable at this time since hnytool hasn't been updated for 3.2, however.
As far as colors go, green is easiest and brightest seen by the human eye. Try the green theme.

I download wallpapers off of interfacelift.com, which resolution should I download them for, for this device? Every wallpaper I set is blurry (aside from LWP's and stock wallpapers). Camera pics and other ones are blurry.
I've been using 1280x800 wallpapers but I still get zoomed in poorly cropped wallpapers unless I use the stock ones. You could try any HD picture and use an app like wallpaper wizardrii to scale it nicely

I tried that one but even with a single wallpaper and no transition, my tablet lags. I don't get lag with a standard wallpaper though. Maybe I'll need to re-try and play with settings

Hmmm which ROM are you using?
Set to "no transitions" here, and not experiencing any "lag", however it does take a second or two to initially set the wallpaper on boot up.

I don't know if it's just me, but every time I try wallpaper wizardii, at first, it fits nicely, and there is no problem, but after a few hours, the tablet becomes laggy. Especially the home screen transition is very laggy. Same goes for Multi live wallpaper. Although this one is laggy from the start.
I just couldn't believe the high rating of the apps. And I'm guessing it's only me who's having the problems..

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but here's the solution...
Download Wallpaper Changer by j4velin. Download whatever wallpapers off of interfacelift (I use 1680x1050, but other resolutions should work), put them onto the SD card. Add the wallpapers to the rotation. There ya go. Note that this app has a "Change wallpaper" widget. Add that to your desktop for quick wallpaper changes.
fwiw the default Res on the stock wallpaper "default_wallpaper.jpg" is 1920 x 1408
Crazy but true.
Hey guys,
quick question.
I make a wallpaper from my own picture cropped to 800x1280. Perfect right? I load it on my tablet it looks great but when I set it to wallpaper it forces me to crop and doesnt get past 1/4 of the picture vertically. I thought the resolution was that size? Am I missing something here?
Thanks
Pinch out to resize the crop window.

Ther iz a simple way.... go to system- framework- frameworkres.apk- draweble- ther iz a wallpaper called defaultwallpaper.png.... reset ur wallpaper to dat size.....
Hit thanx if i helped.....
Sent from my Micromax A60 using xda premium
I cant access that file to find out the size. Do you know it?
And to responder#2. I didn't mean a simple pinching of resizing the crop window. I got that. What I meant was it won't let me "pinch" out all the to my 800x1280 picture. It limits my selection area.
BTW I had this problem since day 1 of android usage. I just never cared enough to ask since phone displays are so small, but being this is my first tablet..a wallpaper makes a difference now.
Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?
Go get your own favorite 800x1280 picture. Download it, save it to gallery. And set wallpaper..you will not be able to set the ENTIRE image as wallpaper.
Figured it out.
http://androidforums.com/asus-eee-p...83827-no-more-forced-cropping-wallpapers.html
basically, download PicSpeed Wallpapers
Then when you set your pic as Wallpaper choose picspeed. And they offer different orientation.
Thanks man that app worked like a charm

PicSpeed has absolutely no effect - images still badly cropped when set as wallpaper.
Has anyone sussed this obvious and stupid problem?
Picspeed worked great for me, no more weird cropping on my wallpapers.
