Email Exchange unlock - Galaxy S III General (US Carriers)

Modified APKs existed for AOSP ICS ROMs on the Epic 4G Touch and some devs (like Calk) had Exchange Policy enforcement removed in their ROM.
Is there any way to do this on the GS3? I have two work emails that I would really like to not have a pin number for, rather a pattern.
Thanks.

Follow the steps here. I did this and it works like a charm. Though I'm not too fond of the Email APK in touchwiz; it gets the job done.
You must have ADB Access
You Must Have Java SE JRE v6 or7
You Must Be Rooted

That was pretty painless, thank you!

Extract exchange support from HTC SENSE?

Hi,
Is there any possibility that you smart guys could extract only the exchange capabilities from HTC's SENSE?
edit sorry guys
1. Wrong section
2. Search Button
3. ... all I am going to say.
Thanks,
There you go. Give it a try.
More politely put no it is not possible but you can use senseui with the normal launcher and have your exchange support.
Or just use touchdown OR motogal and motocal
Widgets
My problem is that I LOVE the widgets. the Calender Widget to be specific. I wish the Android calender would merge Exchange and Google calender information and present it out on a unified calender like HTC does. And I used Modaco's kitchen to dump the Sense UI but that also leaves me without the calendar and mail widgets :-(
Not working
Talderon - I have searched but didn't get a satisfying answer.
InGeNeTiCs - Tried it (adb push), but I don't see any new app..
genibus - If I get you correct, you are saying that the only possible way is using HTC Desire's ROM?

I need to overlay google cal and exchange cal. I am using calwidget which is nice, but I need a full calendar app. (i.e - pick a specific date, and see whats happening in both calendars)
I need to accept calendar invitations from exchange (Push) - motocal can do it only if I happen to navigate to the date and see the event invitation there. there's no way to know you received an invitation, and there's no centralized place where I can see my invitations.
I need to be able to search GAL from the email application. I have motogal, but it's not what i'm looking for. let's say someone sent me an email, I want to forward it to someone in the company. I dont want to go to motogal, search, copy, paste... I want to have the search in the TO field of the wmail app.
I need to search email and calendar..
These are the main problems...
Thanks for the help
Why do people seem to believe that everything can be ported, or "extracted" from everything. Not everything (as sad as this may be to some) can be ported to every single 'thing'. People seem to constantly ask for things from HTC Sense here, but they do not seem to comprehend that HTC Sense requires a specific framework, without Rosie we cannot simply port every minor detail over to the standard Vanilla Android. (From MY understanding, I could be wrong, but this is what I was taught).
Get the Desire ROM, or a imitation, and stop requesting..
This was not directed to the thread creator specifically, though it was to people who are requesting widgets. I really wish people could become a little more educated.. unless me myself is wrong.

You can do all this already, or this is what you want to do?
Let me rephrase my earlier question, I think you misunderstood: What can you currently do that you will LOSE by going to the Desire ROM?

Because that's the idea behind the android OS? That everything is modular. Except that in this case HTC sense is a module for home, and not individual modules.
To the OP: If you want corporate usage, I believe it was pulled from the droid rom successfully. I've seen a few posts allude to it around here somewhere.

Well yes, I know that's the idea behind the Android OS, but not everything can be backported, extracted or whatever as easily as people seem to wish or think..

OHHH sorry I thought you asked a different question.
Actually, I wouldn't mind having a complete sense experience - That would be even better.
But I'm a little afraid to flash the entire Desire ROM because it's still experimental.. isn't it?
I'm currently with Cyanogen so it's not the idea of flashing that bothers me, it's just that specific ROM.
Thanks for your reply.

OK.. Ill give it a shot..
I was just trying to find out if there's a possibility that I wouldn't have to go through this, because all I need is proper exchange support.
Thanks.
Curiosity.
Without a Rooted Incredible I assume I can't install the sensemail.apk on the incredible?
I tried and the app won't install although both are HTC Sense UI's?
Verizon seemed to have downgraded the HTC Mail to only one screen option. I wanted the screen widget that showed the messages in a list not by individual pages where you flip through them to read the headers(single page).
I also tried the extracted widget from the HTC Desire ROM and it didn't want to install. said it was an application error.
Any hints? or just wait for the root?

completely remove lock screen?

So i use an exchange 2003 server for all my email, contacts, and calendar but after flashing some of the new roms it seems my previous methods for disabling the lock no longer work.
I've tried lock picker, and even the instructions from keyguard controller on how to patch the Mail.apk but i still get the lock screen.
Does anybody know how to completely remove the lock screen? This is driving me nuts and i do not have access to the exchange 2003 server to change any settings.
Thanks for any help guys!
Ive had this problem and was driving me nuts. Today wanted buttons to be replaced, but they replaced the whole damn phone. Long story short after rooting.
I surpassed the exchange policy by this apk.
I did this.
adb push Mail.apk /system/app
Reboot...
Once done, i added exchange account, went through the whole setup.
After that i went back into the settings, security, device administrator- removed that, and went yes on all the warnings of it deleting. Then still on security screen, i turned off the screen lock/setup the pattern lock.
Hopefully this helps you out.
Oh and this was all thanks to this thread here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10266578&postcount=307
but since your using an evo, and this Mail.apk works for me, id figure it work for you.
What about "no lock" by BoD ? I include it in my ROM and haven't had a case were it didn't work. Although I don't know what ROM you are using.
Sent from my HTC EVO 4G!

Exchange Security ROM support

Hello,
So far only Sense ROM does support proper Exchange security.
So i was wondering if any other ROMS has support for it?
i am tired to try each ROM one by one.
Please, if you do not know what you are talking about, do not reply thank you!
Since Android 1.0, Exchange security has never ever been supported, juts basic stuffs, preventing any Enterprise customer using Exchange email on Android.
Thanks
Best
Dico
It depends on which specific Exchange security features you refer to. CM7 supports some but not all of them. The most used ones are supported though, such as settings password rules, remote wipe, monitoring of unlock attempts, locking the screen. Those are the ones my work specify at least and they do work. It does however not support encryption of the storage until Honeycomb (ie. ICS if talking about phones).

well i would have to disagree here but i am not here to start a conflict just to find the best ROM for me. right now only sense allows PIN code as password and timeout and number of retry... This sounds so simple as it can't be true... but it is. CM7 does not work either for me...i triedSamsung GTAB as well, same issue.
i found a email.apk that suppress security that i will try and will let you know.
FYI Iphone works perfectly here and they struggled the same way on the first iphone, but they corrected it very fast...
Hopefully google would do the same but nothing has happen yet.
Thanks for the reply

Did the email.apk suppressed the security? I could not find one for CM, let me know if you have one which is working.
Thanks

Alternative to the PIN unlock

Hi,
My job has an exchange policy which has crippled my phone - in the sense that I hate having to type in a password every time I want to use it.
Is there any way to circumvent this? I was thinking maybe setting up a small Exchange server with a policy that says PIN codes are *not* acceptable If not, are there other programs out there that can replace the lock?
Cheers!
I believe you can use another exchange email app that doesn't require this.
Or maybe a custom rom can do the trick? I'm looking for this my self at the moment, but I haven't rooted & flashed my phone yet (it seems a bit more tricky then on the Nexus One)

Thanks, but I was hoping to do it without rooting. Last time I had a hell of a time installing the official patch from Samsung...

Exchange Accounts in PAC?

I just loaded PAC for the first time, and WOW! So awesome. I've been running other ROMs to compare and dang, nice work folks.
I have a Galaxy S5 (G900P, sprint) and loaded this unofficial ROM from @jdelano:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s5/development/rom-kitkat-4-4-4-beta-2-t3137554
I go into Accounts/Add and found no exchange option. Surely this cannot be. I've seen others in this forum talking about using exchange accounts with PAC. Did I miss something???
NOTE: I added some GApps via OpenGApps. I made sure Exchange Services was included (I can see it in my running apps), but I wonder if some other thing got included that trampled this. I kinda expected exchange to be supported in the ROM regardless of GApps, so kinda confused here. Anyone have this experience?
Answering my own question in case others hit this.
Indeed, this was actually a GApps issue. I had Google Exchange Service selected and it removed the built in service which apparently destroys all ability to do any other than google exchange (i.e. gmail). I redid my ROM and GApps selections to remove most of the google stuff, and Exchange Accounts are back and working. Meh.
Now on to the next problem... no numeric indicator of "unread messages" on the app icon (only shows that on the lock screen notification... dang it).

You'll need to get a launcher that does that, only ones I've found so far are not free [emoji17]
I have no problem paying for awesome.
But anyway, the MOAR ROM has email count on the icon built in. Not sure what launcher they've got in there. But IMHO, PAC is sooooo much better UX! I almost feel like I've got my Windows Phone back (we can rag on it's crap eco-system, but the OS, UX and handling of email is leaps and bounds better than droid... except PACMAN plus a few apps/mods is giving me hope right now. )

I use Nova Launcher and it has a tesla option it installs to get unread counts
Another question as it relates to PAC + Exchange.
Does anyone know if Security enforcement works? When I add my exchange account (o365 in this case), it prompts me with "Security Update Required for <account>". I click "update now" and it crashes the (stock, built in) email app with an error "unfortunately, Email has stopped". Update and lockdown and pin setup never happened.
