How do you change the bluetooth device name? - Galaxy S III General (US Carriers)

I am on Verizon and I just want to rename my bluetooth radio... but I don't see the options I use to have on other phones, any ideas?

I'm on the sprint version, but this should work.
Hit menu--> settings and make sure bluetooth is on. Once you see that it's on press "bluetooth" (left side), hit menu-->device name and go from there. Again that is how I do it on my sprint version.

That works like a champ, thank you very much!

Wouldn't that require a bluetooth display? I don't think they make those.

[Q] How to disable data please?

My dad has the Defy and I have tries to put a toggle on that toggles data on and off but even when he switches it off it automatically turns back on later on and starts using his data.
So do anyone know a better way to data off and on?
Thanks

You can use APNdroid
You can use APNdroid, it is very good!!!
if youre using stock froyo (2.2.1) theres already an option built in the settings.
I think it was under settings, then Data administrator and then Data delivery ? (i have it in spanish so sorry..dont know the REAL names...)
That should do the trick and don't need anything else.
Of course....APN doas the trick xD
disable data on the settings then reboot it, should work

Turn off WiFi notification

Is there any way to turn off the wifi message in the ongoing section of the drop down menu, when you are connected to a network? I can't find a way to disable it and its taking up precious space on my bar.

I beleive he's talking about the notification in the pull down menu that shows the wifi he's currently connected to, not the open network notification.
It bugs me too. I don't think we can take it off.

Anyone have any info on this, I have this problem too.
Same here. It's annoying.

New ATT trend?

Hi, is it possible to remove the annoying "wifi connected" from the notification shade? it was on the htc one aswell. it seems that att keeps copying verizon, and their stupid additions to the software of a phone.
I know it goes away when you turn the wifi off, but i want to use wifi without having to see "wifi connected">
thanks
Not possible until someone develops a rom without it. Every company adds stuff to the software though, not just those two. At least there isn't a globe on the Note 2's home button like VZW lol
Go to applications manager and disable the stupid at&t WiFi app. That should fix it

It doesn't.

All of these software additions seem stupid to us here at xda because they are put there with us powerusers in mind. They are simply trying to help those who are as tech savvy have an enjoyable experience with their hand held computers that happen to be able to call people.

If you are rooted you should check the dev section. I think someone posted a mod with it removed

LTE on 4.2.2

Hi guys, T-Mobile just got LTE in my area, but I realize that the LTE option went away with the update. Can anyone help me out on how to get it back if it's possible, it will be a huge help. Thanks!

Hi,
have you tried this ROM and settings?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2267890
There's a whole thread dedicated to this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2211618
Bottom line, you need to downgrade your radio. Additionally, it'd work best with a 4.2.1 ROM, but if you want to run a 4.2.2, you'll need to make some edits to the ROM to be fully compatible with an earlier radio. That thread has a flashable zip to edit whatever 4.2.2 ROM you have install, to make it work with the earlier radios.

Try flashing an older radio like .33 or .27 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087227. May cause some issues with 4.2.2 though, backup first and try it.
Thanks for the help guys. Is it possible to downgrade back to 4.2.1 then? Because to save me some time I rather just downgrade and start from there. I saw no difference in the update.

theres no need to downgrade. flash either the .33 or .27 radio, flash this to fix in call audio https://www.box.com/s/h16b3wlrq8op6us7ifsv then change the phone settings to lte/gsm. you can change the phone settings entering *#*#4636#*#* into your dialer or via the 4636v2 app. thats all.

na, ive used every radio on 4.2.2, hspa+ only and LTE. no problems. the only real issue for tmobile users is using a an older radio on 4.2.2 without doing the in-call sound fix. thats the flashable zip that i linked you(or you can do the edit manually).
Yeah I've never had any problems with the older radios, except the no call audio issue, but that's easily fixed. There's even a script you can use so LTE settings stick on reboot.
