Strange. Mine actually loads up fine and will download/view a magazine, but it doesn't have multitouch or zoom. It also doesn't have landscape mode working, so unless you like reading a full page magazine into a smushed 3 x 1.5 in square, it is pretty much useless.
GPS setting can't be found in anywhere in my NEXUS 7 2013 help
I had my NEXUS 7 since day one. One thing always bother me is that the GPS. I need some one to help me step by step how to find the location of the setting.
I had called ASUS tech support twice. The last call is last night.
1. Where is GPS setting? (Setting- location) in the location screen, there is no so called GPS. only show apps such as Google play services, ultra GPS logger (which I just installed) and google location reporting.
2. Is the GPS should work either ON or OFF line?
Thanks so much if some one can help me. Henry.

Has anyone else tried using Location Spoofer on their Nexus 10 under a profile other than the main one?
My wife uses the main profile and I have a secondary profile (since she uses talk on the nexus 10). I watch the NHL games and need to use location spoofer to watch blacked out games. It seems you can only spoof location in the main profile, and if you then switch to a secondary profile, the location is not spoofed there.
Anyone else have any experience with this?
Thanks.

You need root with that, right? SuperSU doesn't have multi-user support yet - learned that in a similar way trying to set up my wife as main user.
But, the Superuser built in to the latest cm10.1 has mulit-user support... And I assume SuperSU will soon too.

After searching and reading all that I can I've resigned myself to appealing for suggestions on my problem.
Nexus 7 - 32 gb, running android 4.2.1 from Google.
I don't see any cards in Google now linked to my search or location history. Everything is turned on, search and location history has been generating for more than a month on this device and my Sony xperia s running ICS 4.0.4
I don't have weather cards for home or work. Occasionally I get a card for navigating to work but nothing else. Spoke with Google support who claimed that google now does not automatically display items... But I thought that was kind of the point.
Anyway, tried erasing app data for Google search, turning on and off now in settings, location history, as search history etc etc. Am I not seeing cards because I don't have enough history with Google or is something else going on? I was lead to believe the weather card was a permanent feature and I have never seen it!
Thanks for your time

Hey guys, I've recently started using Google Now because Franco kernel gives me a good enough battery. But before enabling Google Now, I had disabled location Report in maps settings.
My question is the following : do I need to tick this option for Google Now to be the most effective or will it use every single feature like advicing nearby places even though Location report is unticked?
Thanks.

Not reallyyy. Unless you need to know what restaurants are closest to you when you're hungry you will need it. If location is off, the 5 day weather forecast will possibly not show. Well its much common sense. You can pretty much do anything on Google now but if it needs your location it will prompt you to enable location settings.

I've recently (like 10 hours ago) re-enabled reporting as I want to get the activity summary each month
Weather works just fine without it, though.
New google play services has been released. Some features listed below along with the mirrored .apk file
Google Maps Street View API
First off in Play Services 4.4,*we have a brand new API for Google Maps Street View. This will allow application developers to embed Street View imagery into any Android application activity.*Doing so, your users will then be able to have the same in-app experience as what’s currently possible through Street View in Google Maps, including 360 degree panning, zooming, and so on.
Activity Recognition
Next up, we have Activity Recognition. No, this isn’t regarding Android application activities. Rather, a new feature in Google’s Location API is able to detect whether you are*running or walking, given sensor data. This is in addition to the API’s previous ability to tell if you’re driving, biking, on foot, still, or actively tilting. This functionality can also be combined with the new Street View API for highly immersive mapping-based apps.
Game Services Update
You may recall that Google Play Services 4.3 brought Game Gift functionality. Today’s update changes the sending UI to allow users to select multiple game gift recipients for added collaboration and social engagement.
Wallet Fragments
Play Services 4.4 refines the preexisting Instant Buy API to reduce the amount of work involved in placing a “Buy With Google” buttin in your app. This is all thanks to the new*WalletFragment API, which allows you to simply configure the provided*fragments and add them to your app.
Mobile Ads
Finally, there’s a new set of APIs for app developers to display in-app promo ads. These new promo ads allow developers to target particular subsets of users, and only send the ads to users who may be interested in purchasing.

yea, i had to go back into location settings after updating the google play services manually, and go into location reporting, then had to redisable location reporting and location history(again).
also seem to change my status icon in hangout from green to orange when I am driving.
(a friend tell me that)

I suddenly lost the SYSTEM UPDATES menu under the ABOUT PHONE section. Anyone else seeing the same thing? Nexus 5.
---------- Post added at 11:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:12 PM ----------
Noticed that uninstalling this release will remove the System Updates menu. If I reinstall 4.4.48, it comes back. Don't want to run this release as there is a huge battery draining issue. Back to 4.3 and no System Update menu.

yep, go to xda portal, download and install
The only thing I have had go wrong with the newest version is Swiftkey doesn't make the key press sounds anymore. Other than that its all good

I still get NLPCollector Wake locks with this, even with location history/reporting off, which sucks.
For the first time in months I have Play Services draining my battery. Also Google Search service is running and wasn't before.
Edit: fixed both by adjusting settings in Google Search.

Is there any way to update the google play services without manually installing the new apk? OTA?
Is there a way to get Google apps (voice, gchat, gmail, etc) to have working notifications on the 2019 HD 10? I have searched around and see others with the problem, but I did not see any solutions. I installed Google Account Manager v7.1.2, Google Services Framework v9-4832352, Google Play services 20.15.15, and Google Play Store 19.8.15 after a factory reset. Notifications will not work. With Voice, I can have the app open with the screen on and it will not notify or display a new message until it is "refreshed" (leaving the current conversation and going back to the list, etc will then show the new message). Thanks for any help.

Could you explain further? I did disable battery optimization for each Google app that I installed (including the 4 to get Google apps on the tablet). It did not seem to make a difference. Even with the app open and screen on, I cannot get it to make a notification sound.
I have the same problem, no ring or notifications. No battery optimization find and turned on all the notifications on every setting i can find, but still not working. Any other ideas? Thanks!

You can use Activity Launcher:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.szalkowski.activitylauncher
Open Activity Launcher -> scroll down for Settings -> select Battery
Press the vertical 3 dots and select Battery optimization -> Google -> select Not Optimized
If Google notifications didn't work, your Fire HD 10 is terrible. Migrate your valuable files to a new Android device and turn your terrible Fire HD 10 into Android app debugger, digital clock, photo frame, Echo Show (Alexa), or MIDI device.
Yes! Agree! Amazon Fire HD 10 is no good!!!! Since i cannot return it now, i try to make it work. Why didn't Amazon just use the latest Android? Fire OS is so primitive and full of bugs. I tried everything i could find online, turned off battery saver and turned on notifications for all apps, but still does not work right. Fire OS is so stupid!!!! I had to go through each app because i could not find a way to do it easier, very frustrating!!!! Now i am getting some notifications, but hours or even a day later!!!!! They must work for some people. Please share how you make them work. Thank you very much!
as it is, Fire HD10 2019 will not show notifications from Google services. u can installl the apk files and get Play Store up n running. but Fire OS is missing other android framework so notification will not work consistently.
there is no bootloader unlock for HD10 2019 right now. IF that is unlocked in the future AND a custom ROM like Lineage is ported in, then chance of notification working will be much higher.
Amazon sells its Fire tablets mostly for consumption of its digital content. dats why the HD10 does not even have Play Store. getting anything beyond that to run is a bonus. u can use the tablet as-is or get a full android tab: walmart has a few around the same price range. good luck!
