8125 Audio Output Jack Problems?

I recently have gone through two different Body Glove Sport Stereo headphones with some issues. I can't decide if I have another faulty headset or if the phone audio connector is the issue. The body glove headset is similar to the headset that comes with the 8125, but it looked more comfortable.
The problem I am having is this, the headphones only play in the right side. Messing with the plug on the headset results in some quick burst of audio on the left side and pulling it out a tad gives me some faint left audio and the right side audio goes out completely. It seems the plug and jack don't quite jive... anyone else experience this? It comes with an adapter for the "bigger jack" and upon trying one of my girls iPods, they work fine with the adapter in the mix.
My application is this... I listen to MP3's while riding my motorcycle and the earphones that came with the phone hurt my ears after a while. Plus they don't have the greatest audio quality. Looking for a comfy replacement, but the above issue has me scratcing my head.

i think you have the wrong adapter. i tried using the slvrs adapter with my 8125 and it did not work same prob as you. i went to radioshack and got one from there and it did. im most absolutely sure is the inner wiring. what happens is that there's also a connection for a microphone on the 8125 so some adapters dont work.

ps my friend got a mono one at radio shack and it worked for him both sides. hes not a audiophile but you get the idea, it has to be the connection of your plug.

The headphones in addition to be being stereo, have the microphone too, I think the paragraph in the page you linked clears up a few questions for me:

It would seem although the Body Glove headset uses the 2.5mm jack, the internals of the 8125 are off enough that a select few aftermarket stereo headsets with mics will work with the phone. Interesting.

Upon further examination of the jack, it is different than the one that came with the phone. In spite of the BodyGlove being a stereo headet with a mic... just like the one that comes with the phone, the connector is different enough to not with aftermarket stuff I guess. Those dirty rascals!!!
The connector on the left is the one that comes with the 8125, the one on the right is the BodyGlove.

Searched and found this old thread. I went to connect my 8125 Wizard to my cars 3.5 jack using a standard adapter and it only came left channel.
Is there a more cost effective proprietary four-conductor jack to a 3.5 mm converter than posted above at PPC Techs? I was hoping to spend a few dollars.

I'm actually using my old Ngages audio cable to get Stereo sound out of my car stereo. It works but sometimes I can't use the mic on the cell phone to talk.
When it works it's really cool, but otherwise I gotta unplug the cable and use it like a regular phone during phone calls.

Microphone stops working when headset connected

Has anyone experienced the following bug: Make or receive a call using a bluetooth headset. A2DP or not, this doesn't matter. Then, use the voice command feature or try to record with Tape Machine, while your headset or car kit is still conencted. The microphone won't activate. This is quite aggravating if I try to use the voice dial or map finding capabilities while in the car... anyone else experience this?

i have the same problem when my phone is plugged into the aux in my car. the mic just stops working :/

I can verify this issue. I most want to be able to use this feature while in the car and using hands free, but I can't.

It's annoying - my EVO didn't do this before I returned it.
I ordered a few inline microphone adapters for $2 each on ebay with free shipping - they're the things that allow you to use any pair of headphones with a cell phone as a headset. That should solve that problem, but it'd be nice to be able to use the phone mic when it's connected to my car stereo, as a speakerphone.

I guess the way Samsung saw it if you plug in a headset with a microphone(like the one included with your phone) you would then have 2 working microphones and get an echo. We all know this ends up being a problem in scenario #2 where you plug it into the AUX port on your car, but I guess Samsung did not consider that the most likely usage.
The best solution would be to have a software toggle to pick if the microphone is turned off or not.

I wonder if, on the Epic, this is a hardware thing we're stuck with or if there truly is a software fix.
If the hardware wasn't built to detect when there is/isn't a microphone by checking out the connector, we may be SOL.

While I'm sure the rationale may be the same, please note that this thread, though similar to the 3.5mm headset thread, specifically references bluetooth. The issue happens even if the headset is paired - independently of whether or not it is in use. That's the problem.

just unpair bluetooth when you want to use the speech. only work around so far.

Headphone Jack Issue

I am interested in purchasing this phone, but I read there is an issue with not being able to use the microphone while headphones are plugged in. I hook my current Android into my car stereo through my headphone jack and when people call, it uses the speaker phone to talk while I hear people on the car stereo. Would I still be able to do this on the Fascinate, or does that also disable the speaker phone mic, or are they the same mic?

im not sure what you are asking but i ahve no problems with it, i plug in my headphones with the mic in them and they work great, use them for listening to music and talking and love it

He means he has his phone plugged into the speakers in his car through the aux jack, and then when he gets a call he uses the speakerphone option to talk, and incoming voice audio plays on his car stereo. I do not think this will currently work on the fascinate...

You've heard right. It blocks speakerphone when headphones/aux are plugged in. It's quite a pain considering I use it as my music player in the car. It also ignores bluetooth while plugged in as well.

This is correct, and was almost a deal breaker for me. However, the car dock has a function where you don't need to plug in the AUX, only the micro-USB, and you can charge it as well as have audio output (the audio goes through the charging port, then is output by a 3.5mm output on the dock, and finally to your car's AUX in). This feature isn't enabled yet, but once Froyo is released it will be - and then we should be able to take calls over our car speakers without the mic being muted.

So Indy, we can't use the car dock the way it was intended until froyo drops? That means I can't hear my nav thru the speakers while docked or any music?

As I understand it, yes. There is a sticker on the port letting you know that it won't function properly until the release of 2.2. I'm still waiting on my dock to get here in the mail, but I've seen several threads elsewhere where this is discussed.
I don't think the dock has room, but if it does, you could still run an AUX cable from the headphone jack to your car's input, and have nav and music through the speakers - you just wouldn't be able to take calls with it connected because of the mic being muted with an AUX cable connected. Once 2.2 is released, as I understand, you'll be able to do it all.

Thanks for the help. It looks like ill be waiting before I make a purchase. I use slacker radio too much in my car and my deck doesn't have an auxiliary in, its old school tape deck so I have a device that plugs in the tape deck.

Epic: AUX in car - won't pick up Bluetooth calls

I was hoping this problem would be resolved in Froyo, and as of EC05 it remains. When I'm plugged into the AUX connection in my car and receive a phone call, the car's Bluetooth handsfree picks up the call and audio does stop playing, but the phone call audio doesn't switch to Bluetooth. I have to unplug AUX, at which point Bluetooth picks up the audio.
Anybody know of any fixes for this issue?

From what I understand, there is no software fix for this. The 1/8'" audio out is hardwired to route calls to the headphone jack whenever anything is plugged into it (because they assume you will be using headphones with a integrated mic).
Your best bet is the OEM Samsung Epic Car Dock-

It is by far my #1 Epic accessory. It routes the audio through the usb jack into the dock, and from there to your car stereo. Bluetooth calls are not affected. It is the only working solution that I'm aware of.

Car Dock Modfication Request

Hi Guys,
Running on Stock 2.3.4 with root and owner of the Atrix Car Dock. One of the most handy bits of kit I've got for my Atrix.
I'm not overly happy with the Car Dock Home on the phone its self though. When I make a call on Google Talk or on normal phone, it diverts the audio via the loud speaker, and not the car speakers. Is it possible to modify this as otherwise whats the point of having the audio lead in the usb cable if its just for music??
I had a look around the SQLite database to see if there was anything there, but maybe there is a config file somewhere or needs a new APK I don't know.
One for the devs?

My bluetooth Pioneer deck only used the drivers speaker, and it had a few dif noise cancelation modes. So its posible the person talking to you will hear every word they say or worse it can cause static or other distortions.

When using the phone plugged via headphone socket in the actual phone I have not suffered any form of feedback or distortion, which is why I'm interested to see if someone out there can do this

This has been asked before, and nobody ever came up with a solution, other than what you're already doing by plugging in the headphone jack.
