and hopefully other xda users, who have made roms from this
Lol it was leaked. Never official in the first place. It's like trying to ban marijuana.
This petition doesn't make sense. It is a leaked firmware on which Samsung is working
im not trying to ban it from samsung, just trying to take if off the internet (sammobile)
you dont have to argue about everything guys, really its like, oh heres a thread that
looks like it needs a good argument

than stop making ones that requires argument, and stop making threads like this and the one i saw earlier about porting from new samsung chat lol.
It's an awesome ROM.
There's zero issues if you keep it stock.
I won't be signing.

yeah, its a brilliant rom, just flash it as a stock rom with no root or modified kernel, and DO NOT include the pit
hey everyone, Vertumus has signed the petition =)
Ya exactly ppl who dont know flashing and stuff will be safe. It bricks only if u try formatting using a recovery which has MMC whatever that stuff.. Removing is not a gud idea but we can tell others dont install if u using Custom ROMs because it hard bricks the phone... Simply removing doesnt help it..

my friends, other 4.0.4 releases will show up, why hurry and risk your device, lets just wait for another release, and hopefully a more stable release, and this release isnt official as we all know, i heard samsung was going to make the 4.0.4 release TWUX, so why hurry, why take the risk
Instead of a petition to remove it, why don't you petition sammobile to put a big warning there instead? Surely its easier for them to include a warning than to remove it complete. I've used it and successfully went back to stock and I find it a great rom. So instead of wanting it removed, why not just stick a big warning next to it, those who want to flash it would then know the risks and procedures to revert back to stock.
Just a thought.
Guys grow up
We are on a developers site.
Leaks are happening here all the time, sammobile is only one site that has a copy.
This firmware does not have issues with bricks. PERIOD.
It's only cwm that is giving issues with it.
But CWM is a developers tool never made by Samsung. (i think it was a CM9 app?)
If we want to fix anything here, it is the general knowledge here of what a leak is all about. And with it the risks it can bring when used wrongly.
yeah it was a leak, not finished yet, not released, has anyone updated there phone to XXLQ5 via KIE'S??
we will get it when they finish it, it is surely not wort the risk, and yes i will change the petition goal, so that they put a BIG warning sign, good idea my friend =)
cheers
I agree with a warning! don't need to remove it, I use this Rom until now with no problem and fill good with it. So, I will stay with this Rom and wait for new release
I too have flashed the day it was released. But i haven't flashed any custom kernel/cwm/root as it wasn't made available. Later, I read bricking of phones & didn't try rooting it.
I am still on stock XXLQ5 & it's working fine, no issues.
Since you've changed it to a warning petition, I'll gladly sign it.
XDA has had a warning in place on the S2 forums since yesterday when it came to my attention that there was an issue
There's no reason to outright remove access to this ROM, so long as people are aware that it causes the hardbrick issue.
And there is no need to sign it, Sammobile already showing warning since yesterday. In red colour if that will be your next complain.

Can we update SGS2 to 2.3.4 which is meant for nexus s ?
I mean not all in all, but definitely we can Eritrea things & make it fit for SGS2 right ?
Will that be so simple or it's very difficult without source code ?...
Just a noob question, I wanna know the answer pls....
Samsung release their own source codes and to modify Nexus S 2.3.4, it will take lot of effort.. Some Devs are trying to use HTC sense on SGS.. but its not easy

Hi,
I am new to Samsung phones so don't know a lot of the terminology. Can anyone please explain what a .pit file is and what a PDA file is?
I understand the android advices guide, but I do not understand why there is no ext4.pit file in the following link, if it is necessary for the upgrade procedure:
http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9100.htm
So... is it strictly necessary, or is it possible to get by without it?
Many thanks,

I believe it does a selective roll out, just like carrier over the air updates. To avoid system congestion. You can force download / check for new versions using other methods, like CheckFus and CheckFusDownloader. Google it and you should find tutorials on how to use it and where to download.
Also, if you are still O2 branded, I9100XWKE2/I9100O2UKE1/I9100XXKDJ/I9100XWKE2 is still the latest version. You need to de-brand your phone to get the debranded WKE7 on kies.
You can also use: http://fus.nanzen.se/
Scroll all the way down, click on GT-I9100, then select the brand (Europe, Nordic Countries or O2), it will auto-populate the required fields for the brand selected and then click "Send", it will check Samsung servers for the latest version available for that phone/brand.
my phone is not branded
this is the result.
Now what i have to do?

Agreed, there seems to be an influx of n00bs that refuse to search for a topic before haphazardly starting yet another thread on the exact same issue. This is already the 3rd or 4th thread about KE7, there are like 4-5 threads about "overheating," etc.
Mods need to clean up all the subsequent trailer/later threads, the i9100 forums are getting cluttered already.

Just got my S2 last Thursday. It's from Vodafone UK.... and unfortunately Voda decided to brand it.
My HTC Desire (which I got last year from Voda) was clean as a whistle... but I guess Voda just couldn't keep their claws out of the S2
This, of course, means that Kies is not showing any updates for the S2 yet and it came with KE1. ODIN is already loaded on my laptop and KE7 is downloaded... time to fix the phone myself.
These carriers really need to wake up to reality, stop branding your damn handsets, it only costs them more to do this and gives them bad press, and Devs/Hackers make for the best sales people (I got at least a dozen to get the HTC Desire when I got mine last year, already got 3 to switch to the S2 and it only came out!).
Thread closed. There is already one about this, so search before making new threads.

The update for Hong Kong is only rolled out for particular device, which is unbranded retail device. For those device bought from operator such as 3HK, the ota update is not yet available until early June since the firmware for branded devices need the operator to approve those preinstalled application. My xperia arc was bought from 3HK so it is still checked as most update using pc companion software. Anyway I by need those operator Apps so I have go for the Hong Kong retail version firmware,. Although it still contain some junk software that I don't need. Flashing the firmware. Using flashtool is just so easy and even no need to unlock the. Bootloader which could void the warranty.

Go ahead and install the Black Edition firmware. The only difference between the Black Edition and normal I9505 firmwares is that the Black Edition firmware includes some wallpapers and sounds not found in the standard firmware.

thanks for the reply .... should i download the united kingdom one or ireland??
I'd stick with the Ireland version just to keep things simple, though in reality you can install any version as your phone is unlocked. The unbranded firmwares such as the UK Black Edition (CSC BTU) available on Sammobile have multiple CSCs within them, and installing one doesn't necessarily mean you'll get the CSC you expect. For example, I installed the unbranded UK Black Ediiton firmware mentioned and instead of the CSC code of BTU, I got AUT, which is Switzerland. As a result, when the phone started up the first time after installing, I received three Swiss-only apps (foodarena.ch, local.ch, and parku) added to my app drawer. All three are useless to me here in the US, so they were easily uninstalled, as they were not system apps.

I recommend I337UCUEMK2.
..my personal recommendation. So have a nice daý again! agian!ç
@Hannah Stern: He's from Ireland and has an Irish phone. An AT&T I337 ROM isn't going to work for him and may well brick his phone if he successfully installs it. Or worse, he may be stuck with AT&T's locked bootloader and have to send the phone in for service.
I understand you've taken on some sort of holy crusade to fix problems that seemingly only exist for you, as the venomous post you linked to reveals, but do try to actually read the thread instead of spewing out wildly inaccurate information that could cause severe damage to someone else's phone. Would you like to pay the OP for the repair?

at the same thing again, i cant find any downloads for ireland or uk , only to specific carriers. What should i do now? And wheres the best place to download the firmwares
There is no unbranded Ireland ROM, so the closest thing is one of the unbranded UK ROMs. Look here.
I haven't seen this listed anywhere since a search for this model number brings up nothing.
The Australian stock is the model SM-G977B
Its an Exynos version with the old UFS and the model given as part of the free upgrade promo (when you preordered the s10 plus), is a 512GB black variant.
I can't see much development being done for this since obviously no one has this model, but I'd love to be able to root it.
Hopefully more people will get this phone, and some dev can start. If there's anything I can do to get the ball rolling, let me know!
Root
Hey mate, I have already achieved root day one of receiving my device from this offer , I am by no means an advanced developer but technology is my passion. The process was simple due to it being the same process as topjohnwu already published. This is the official page for the instructions by topjohnwu which do work: topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html#samsung-system-as-root. If you struggle at any point feel free to reply. I will be posting this in the development threat for others so there aware.
As for TWRP, thats a different story, I have tried flashing TWRP from the s10+ and hoping it would work but it did not which was to be expected. So I am attempting my own build of TWRP by modifying the s10+ TWRP to match the s10 5G. Mind you I have never compiled TWRP or Android. I have mainly tinkered with iOS on apples hardware so no promises I'll figure it out nor that it will be bug-free but if I do manage to find it I'll post it for another developer to maybe check and fix.
But root is definitely possible as of now,
Happy rooting!.
Hwy thanks for that.
Do you still get updates? I've never rooted without a custom rom before?
Also, do you use exposed? Edexposed or virtual exposed? It's the main reason I want to root
Lastly where did u get the boot image from?
Thanks
Hey mate, over the air updates I believe do not work. To update you'd need to download the latest firmware and repatch the ap file. But I haven't done this. There is a forum post somewhere outlining the process though so I'll try and dig that up.
As for the exposed framework I haven't tested that out nor have I used it before but it is something I wanna dive into. The last time I tinkered with Android was years ago where exposed wasn't a big thing. But I have seen users state they've got it running from edxposed or something like that from the magisk add on panel. So I'll give it a try now and report back to you.
As for the firmware I cannot upload any links as I'm a new user. But if you shoot me an email [email protected] I'll be happy to send you the link I personally used.
