[Q] Possibly Bricked, need help! - Droid X General

So I wanted to go into recovery, so I clicked (in the bootstrap recovery app) Clicked Bootstrap recovery, then reboot recovery. When I tried to restart it, it got stuck on the Motorola logo. Then I went swimming and the phone died. Now when I try to turn it on it has a ? in the battery. I have no idea what is happening, any ideas?

You probably shouldn't have taken the phone swimming!
Jokes aside, find a fully charged Droid X battery (you can also splice a cable to charge the battery), then SBF the device back to the firmware it was on before.
First though, enter bootloader mode and if you don't get a battery error, attempt to SBF.

Haha! Well, thanks! Thats what I was thinking. I'm not sure exactly how to SBF it, to root it before, my freind told me to use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680037 so maybe the SBF file will work?

Unfortunately, that prerooted SBF file doesn't work.
First you should try to SBF to .602, but it will only one if you were not on .621 before that. (.602 is much easier to root).
If you were on .621 before use a .621 SBF file.
If I can find any links to the files I will post them back here. A Google search on how to SBF should bring up tons of guides and tutorials on SBFing, so it shouldn't be too difficult. XD

I actuallu changed my plan, while posting this, I am currently SBF-ing using this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560608 Thanks so much!

EDIT: When it did a reboot after SBF it does the motorola splash screen but keeps repeating, how do I fix this?

Power off. Then hold home and power til you get to the screen with an android and an exclamation point. Press both volume keys simultaneously at this screen. Use volume keys to navigate to wipe data/ factory reset. Use power key to select. After it does its thing then reboot.

Thanks so much! Back and working. One more thing. I remember in a video a guy did a command in terminal after installing CM9 to make it so you can put files on it from the PC. Do you know what it is?

No idea. I use the data cable for file transfer. Or you can use Software Data Cable from the market to transfer files over WiFi.

If you have a working ADB set-up you can "adb push" files to the device.
But simply plugging in the phone to a computer should trigger USB Mass Storage mode.

[Q] [Help Me]

I just updated my wife's phone to DL09 by pushing it via Odin. I then successfully completed the one click root, and was in the process of pushing clockwork mod to the phone via Odin when the screen on the phone went blank. Now the only thing I get i a black screen with a phone, a computer, and an orange triangle with an exclamation point and dotted lines between them. Any ideas?
Can you still get into download mode
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
This is all I get...
Have you tried the manual method to get to download mode?
Pull the battery, connect usb while pushing the volume down button.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
That seemed to work. Pushing the DL09 again via Odin now. Thanks for the tip, Steeler!
That is the Odin Failed screen. The only remedy is to flash over whatever you messed up in Odin.
There are a few ways to get into download mode. First, you will want to try removing the battery, and holding down the volume down button while plugging the USB into a computer.
If you can't get that to happen, look into wiring up the usb cable with a resistor to make a little rig to force download mode.
If you cannot manage download mode (or potentially recovery mode), you are out of options.
EDIT: looks like steeper beat me to it.
Swyped w/ XDA App. When in doubt, mumble.
Up and running! Again, thanks for the timely responses and handy tip!
I have soft bricked my fascinate. I can get into clock recovery red. I use a mac, my USB is not in debug mode, I tried using Odin on a PC but could not find phone. Cant ADB into phone on mac receive "Error:device not found" I have looked everywhere all day and yesterday but looks like im screwed. Can i not just get a update.zip Voodoo kernel? I did a wipe before I hit restore. I do see the restore files but on Clockwork but get error also. Any help please?
Maybe someone can confirm whether it is possible to adb from download or recovery mode.
However, you are not hosed so long as you can get into recovery mode. You can likely copy what you need into your sd card. Fortunately, I have never had to do that because I can always find the files I need to restore in the clockworkmod/ folder of my sdcard. I suggest looking around in there for the kernel patch you need - just be mindful of your lag fix

Can anyone give me detailed instructions on how to fix my X and how to flash
Try booting into moto recovery (hold down the menu button along with the power button, when the picture of the green android guy comes up, push the search button)
Do another wipe data/factory reset and reboot. If that doesnt work then you will need to sbf

Unless this guy ^^^^ works for Verizon or Moto and is holding out on the rest of the Android community... anyone can get access to the files to unbrick your phone. Check out mydroidworld for the 2.3.32 full sbf and the 2.3.34 system only sbf. If you need more help with sbf files, post back, and myself, or one of many other people are likely to help you out.
PS... to smeyers1012...unless you have "Secret files" please just offer the help in the forum... it makes it easier for everyone =) Thank you

If I'm reading this correctly ??
After reloading the Market programs, if you want to stick with the full "Maderstcok SBF".
You must do a full reboot BEFORE Rooting, Rom's, breathing, Or anything else.
IMHO kick the Rom manager to the side of the road , Again IMHO.
Then do what you wish.
When I use Maderstcok's SBF I bypass the market downloads so that I can then
get to the new Rom i,m really trying to get to.
Maderstcok SBf, full reboot, Root, Rom

a) make sure your sbf is good.
b) what version of RSD lite are you using on what OS?
I got the sbf from the one attached to the thread. I am using rsdlite 4.5. It is the only one that would read that the bravo was connected. I am on windows 7 starter on netbook.

You might could try RSD 5.0
Although, I had problems with RSD on my WIN7 Vaio also that I could never get around so I just used an XP to do the job.

It said it was ready to dl an update after flash so I clicked yes thinking this might be motoblur...BUT, it's waiting for offpeak hours because I cannot turn on wifi. Any thoughts on the next step?
Also, does anyone have a link to the stock 2.1 sbf just in case? I'm kinda in need of my phone right now. thx

re-download the sbf in the other thread and re-flash it. it probably flashed wrong in some minor way that is messing something up.
Nahh still black. Thanks for the thought though. At least I can receive incoming calls and everything else for now. Then use the recent calls list to dial back after calling the bravo. :/

There is no 2.1 .sbf so if the 2.2 .sbf isn't working then something is wrong. If you can, do a factory data reset and reboot and then try to flash the 2.2 .sbf. see if that works.
Thanks Mcfarmfresh. Didn't want to go that route but didn't lose anything but some texts. It got me back to factory. Will try the flash again in the am.

HELP! I meet the same problem! How can you resolve it? Please help me!
OK I had CM7 working and then I did something stupid and bricked my phone. When I do the SBF, it goes through and then upon reboot it boot-loops. I used the SBF from the other post and am using RSD 5.0, but am not sure what else could be going wrong. I wish I could have wiped things, but when it bricked it wouldn't get to the point for me to get into recovery. I hope I didn't brick it too bad...
edit: I found a post on how to get to the recovery mode to wipe the data. If you need to wipe data after installing an sbf, press the down volume button and hold then press the power button until you see the moto symbol. after you see the exclamation point, press BOTH the up and down volume buttons together to get to the options. The last post I found was a little confusing because some people say you have to touch the bottom right of the screen, which doesn't work.

My atrix wont even boot to the RSD etc selection screen
So i had my phone rooted and wanted to unlock the bootloader so i followed the steps from pudding but it did not work. everyone has a NS version of the phone in RSD Lite but mine was SE not sure why. So i tried a few times to flash the new image and clear everything out to no avail. now i don't even get to the menu that gives me 5 seconds to select what method i want to use to fix it.
all i get is a flash of this on the screen before it goes black again
SVF:105:1:2
Failed to boot 0x1000
(stays for a second)
Entering NWFlash Recovery Mode
(Flashes under the other text but really fast before the screen goes blank)
windows wont even recognize that its plugged in. but what else is odd is that while plugged in it seems to be charging as the green notification light stays on.
any help would be great. thank you

Bootloops means soft bricks which is not really a problem. When your phone Boots up, press the down key along worth the power button. Then keep pressing down button until you see Android Recovery. Do a factory reset or flash another room once in there.

Sounds like a hard brick indeed. At this moment in time hard bricks are incurable but some people said that taking their battery out and putting it back into their phones solved their problem. You might want to give it a shot.
A guy also claimed thay its possible to unhardbrick your phone using the jtag technique. You might want to read up on it.

There's soo many forums and different avenues to go down! after about 9 hours trying various things to make my atrix (running normal 2.3.4 rooted with no other cm7 or rom or any other mod) i am left with my atrix at the boot screen OR if i leave it to boot it just makes the logging on noises then shows the white screen, then nothing.
I stupidly followed the list to freeze using bloatfreezer. Not the updated list where it reads next to HOME (make sure you have another launcher) so i have frozen 'home' and i am stuck.
i cannot do a recovery because it has that fail message x2 everytime i do the power volume - and + on the android recov.
I am completely lost. i do not understand what hard/soft/adw/ push email/ or other jargon means. If you have any solutions i'd be more than grateful.
I hope i haven't bricked my phone, cos a 2year contract and no new phone is gonna push me near that ledge lol

If you're on AT&T - get RSD lite and find the proper sbf file and flash it. If you were using Gingerbread, make SURE you have a GINGERBREAD sbf file - or else you'll permanently brick your phone. If you're on Bell - you'll need the appropriate file for Bell to flash, same rules apply - If your on gingerbread, make SURE its a gingerbread file you're flashing.

Only boots to safemode

Anyone know why ...I have a weird phone as it is...none of the button combos are correct but I have figured out how to work around this. Can't boot phone unless I push the menu, camera, and volume down button. That takes me from the logo screen to the DROID eye and boots n safe mode.
I have sbf'ed so many times in the past week I don't want to open rsd.
I am on.612
I did do the Linux fix but still boots to safe mode and can't push bootstrap to system/app because of safe mode. Can't install anything because of that.
I'm back to os factory wiped and system recovery wiped .612 and safe mode. I let it go from 100% to dead last night...never booted. It only boots of I do the button combo and it goes to safe mode.
Any ideas??

I have used both windows and Linux to do this. I have tried adb but adb isn't able to push the files because safe mode overrides root permissions. I rooted with the Linux CD. It shows its rooted but won't give me permissions. I just need to know a few things...hopefully someone will know the answers
Is there a reason via hardware that would make the phone only boot to safe mode?
Can someone help me flash cwm in safe mode? I cannot figure that out. I can't push the bootstrap files via adb as I mentioned and I can't install any apps that are 3rd party so I can't install it normally.

ok, hopefully someone can look at this logcat and help me...I cannot boot at all past the logo screen unless i do a button combo for the phone to go to safemode. it doesnt go to safemode with the normal process. I have tried to get into the sys via adb however even though im rooted, safemode wont allow permission to copy bootstrap recovery to system/app/.
I would love some help from someone who wont question whether or not I know how to use rsd and all the other noob questions...I am fully aware of how to use rsd and i am positive that my phone is a droid x and yes i am able to use linux. I have been getting questions like that...
I sbfed to the .621 and then used the linux disk to go to milestone and get root. My phone asked for root permission while i was in adb and i allowed it however im assuming that safemode wont allow it to truly work...
if it could be hardware...where would i begin troubleshooting the hardware??
Thanks in advance for your help My main concern is not getting bootstrap onto the phone, it is to get the phone to boot out of safemode. I have let the phone go from 100% to 0% waiting on it to reboot so I am sure that it is not me being impatient. I got it to boot into safemode by accident because I was actually trying to get it to boot into sys recovery to wipe after a sbf but the phone doesn't go to recovery normally either. I have to push and hold menu, camera, and volume down to get the triangle and then i can push the vol buttons together to get the recovery screen and wipe. however it never boots...unless i push the menu, search, and vol down buttons to get it to boot into safemode which...like i said, was discovered by accident. I have been keeping notes because this phone is def not normal.
On a side note, the phone is not activated because of these issues,.i am using my droid 4.
If you SBF and the problem persists, it's probably hardware.
