If your video camera is not working on an aosp rom such as white widow or cyanogenEris i wrote this patch up to fix it
im sure theres a much easier way to do it, but this was how i worked it out
download the zip attatched.
extract video_patch.sh and the proprietary folder to your sdk tools
Code:
cd <sdk tools>
chmod a+x video_patch.sh
video_patch.sh
adb reboot
Video Recording should be working!
let me know of any issues, im sure that Framework will add this himself soon and this patch wont me needed, i know ive fixed it in WW 4.0
dont hate, use it or dont, just trying to be helpful. really this only help CE users, CyanogenLighteningBolt already works and my soon to be updated 4.0 will be working too.
CE users and users of white widow <4 should use this
Any other home-brewed, built from source CM roms will work with this too
Thank you Conap for bouncing ideas around with me
let me know if you would prefer an update.zip
lol, funny username u got! welcome back.
Will this work on Senseless
you forgot to add changing the directory in the file too
change
Code:
path/to/sdktools
to your actual path.
confused me for a minute there when i tried it
worked for CyanogenEris.
I think White Widow and CyanogenLighteningBolt already have their video fixed
try it on senseless, just do a nand backup first in case it messes something up lol
hey! glad to see you back
but would it be to much to ask for a update.zip?
heres an update zip using those files.
let me know if it works, its untested-im using white widow 4.0 which already has the video fixed

You do all this and you take the risk. But remember if you got the CWM working, you should be safe and you can run itsmagic from CWM if you are in doubt. I take no responsibilites if you damage or brick your device. But if you do think its bricked, and you get checksum errors both at boot and recovery, sc2k might be able to help if you saved your UID number.

WMV 1080p works with hardware decoding on 3.1 (i tested the microsoft 1080p samples) and no stuttering or so..
but although some say 1080p hdmi is ok, its actually still just downscaled to 720p output and why our tablet can play it quite nicely.

i decided to add a patch, so you can use Acer stock colors, if you wish.
i will check this one as soon as it is available. tks dexter, will also buy you a beer afterward.
just a remark, and thats the reason why i did not try any of the other rom's, anything besides the kernel is not GPL. so anything coming from ASUS and added to ACER could cause ASUS to intervein and call you a pirate. thus I would ruther stay with stock, and modify stock with my own ideas or at least with things not coming from asus or any other tab maker.
Anyhow tks for your good work.

I don't think thats entirely accurate for Android!..
Asus built their changes on top of Android which is GPL, and changes made to that needs to be openly available for modification..
when we talk application development yes, but Android 3.x OS changes and graphics modifications, i think we can what we like to, as the platform is distributed under GPL.
Only parts i guess will be copyrighted/licensed are GoogleApps, which again Acer do have rights to use, so we can place them on our tablets..

According to ^ maledyris' thread, it will cause a bootloop on this build
I it is very possible to cause boot loops because things changed from 2.3.4 HKTW.
You can try apply updates made to HKTW but before that wipe everything (data, dalvik caches, etc) from CWM recovery. If you apply those updates even if it works you will do a kind of downgrade. So I don't advise.
I took the new files from the rom and modified them to avoid putting back an old "apk", "prop", "so", "jar" or other kind of system files.
will this work with the beta 5 ?
and would you be able to script it so it's similar to the script for the wake on volume keys? where you can individually choose which mods are installed?
because i know personally, i would like some of these, but not others
I was on the motorola forums and I heard someone from Moto saying the hardware can easily handle the 1080p compression but the software is no where near optimized enough. Still too choppy IMO. I wonder if they will get it working right.
Thanks for this quick little zip file though, makes life a lot easier.
Can someone provide a mirror to the files?
Thanks.

You have not linked to Kenneth Penns' 4.5.91 beta #3 (Now beta 4.5). That's the stock version of 4.5.91 which everyone is having brick problems with.
Also, is that the same 1080p hack which was posted a while back and gives 24fps with the file size smaller than 720p @ 30fps? Please include the stats for the 1080p. A GSpot screenshot will show all the information required to show a comparison between 720p and 1080p recordings.
<edit> Just so people know, not a soft brick with the stock 4.5.91, but a HARD BRICK. Read Kenneth Penns' 4.5.91 thread. That is how he bricked his phone. Attempts to flash back to 4.1.83 from this stock build will most likely brick your phone. Note that the title in the thread linked is labeled as [DEVS ONLY].

Does the 2g/3g/auto thing actually work? It hasn't worked in the past...
Also, what if I want these updates but NOT the wake on volume keypress?
I will make a version having the base 4.5.91 Beta 5 and I will also make available individual mods so people can choose what to install but only tomorrow because I started my job at the company and my time is a little bit limited right now.

Hello there! It's me again.
I've noticed a very distinct lack of threads that start with [ROM] in this here section, and I hope to help change that. I recently purchased a UG007 Android-on-a-stick, which I have discovered has a lot of hardware similarities between other devices, thanks particularly to wide prevalence of the RK3600 chipset.
My goal here is twofold. One is to provide a consolidated place for others interested in developing for these devices to find resources. The other is to explore the depth of the similarities between devices, discuss various flashing methods and tools, and overall get in touch with other people who may own these things who have other knowledge and skills that I may not possess.
First off, here are a few downloads for various ROMS I've found across the web. I did not make any of these - I'm just linking to the sources I found.
STOCK UG007 Firmware - STOCK 12/01/2012 ROM, completely unmodified. Good to see the differences between the pre-rooted and OG versions. Original source unknown, my apologies.
FengHuang pre-rooted for UG007 - Pre-rooted, "market fix", "xbmc supported", fixes some wifi negotiation issues. Jellybean 4.1.1. Verified works. Install by placing in root of SD card and inserting into device.
Finless Bob's 1.5 for iMito mx1/2 - VERIFIED WORKING on UG007 as well. Pre-rooted, debloated, higher LCD density, other tweaks. See original thread for full details. Install instructions in OP as well.
And that's all I have for now. I'll do some more digging in a while, see if I can't find more stuff. I found a thread elsewhere that has resources for building kernels for RK3066 - I'll try to post that as well. If you know of more ROMS, please, post them here and I'll add to the OP.
There are earlier releases of finless/Bob's roms, plus factory roms all for the MX 1/2 so for both devices. Note finless roms all start At v1.4
Good post.
I have my new UG007 and I was looking for some ROMS.
I have the imito mx1 with finless 1.5. Just amazing especially with onlive apk from playstore with xbox 360 controller. It would be awesome to put a ROM in a zip for cwm. This also plays plays vice city solid with highest settings, where my galaxy note can't.

Hi all, I successfully installed Finleys 1.5 in my UG007, everything works fine except the issues because I decided to flash this ROM
I explain better...I bought the UG007 for film playback purpose only, I attached It in my bedroom's TV and connected with wi-fi using SAMBA to my Western Digital NAS. With my SGS3 and my Asus Trannsformer Prima the playback in wi-fi works fine in this way using BS Player PRO and DICE Player.
When I bought UG007, with stock firmware, I had these issues:
- DICE Player: never started, opening It I receive immediately a message "Impossible to reproduce the file"...but which file?!? I started DICE player 20 milliseconds ago!!!
- With BS Player, after setting network buffer, HW decoding mode and other tweaks I have behaviours as...Start the film but I can hear only the audio, black screen...or I hear the audio and the image is like old vectorial Commodore 64 games ...or It not start.
After installing imito Finleys 1.5 rom the behaviors are the same, but the system is much better than stock firmware.
What do you think about this???
All the flashing tools for this are for windows? Are there any instructions on what has to take place to flash via adb?
I'd like to try this on mac.

I could, but it would be a couple of days at least before I could even try. I'm busy making stock roms for the Atrix HD from its fastboots and converting the Xperia Z XXHDPI icons to XHDPI for a rom I'm working on. Might have to test an Atrix HD Miui as well . Once I'm done with that crap I'll give it a shot.
To do it yourself, use a PC a zip manager, and text editor -- 7-Zip & Notepad ++ for Windows, File Roller & Gedit on Linux, Whatever's appropriate on a Mac~
The apps I recommend are the one that I use for doing this and know work properly for what we're doing. DO NOT USE STOCK NOTEPAD OR WORDPAD ON WINDOWS -- YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.
Use Latest Quarx CM10 for Bravo and Latest Defy MIUI
Open Defy Miui
Delete libbayercamera.so, liboemcamera.so, libsoccamera.so
Take any think that says libcamera from Bravo CM10 from /system/lib and put them in Defy Miui zip (libcamera_client.so, libcameraservices.so, libkobecamera.so)#
Go to /system/lib/hw in Defy Miui
Rename any file with jordan to kobe** (gps.jordan.so to gps.kobe.so, camera.jordan.so to camera.kobe.so -- same for the rest)
Open Miui build.prop
Search and Replace works good for this part (CTRL+H with Linux's Gedit)
Replace any jordan with kobe**
Replace any 525\526 with 520*
Replace any Defy with Bravo*
Go to the bottom, set camera to ClassA, 3m, & delete the 2 flash lines

Replace mot_ise_imager_cfg.bin
Replace media_profiles.xml

IF the Miui rom is custom kernel

The only other thing that might need to be done is replacing Miui's /system/lib/libandroid_runtime.so. If it boots and runs you don't have to. If it loops, replace it.
* These can be skipped if you don't mind being branded as a Defy
** These two are mutually exclusive, whatever the value is in build.prop is what the gps.propvalue.so should be in /system/lib/hw -- you'll bootloop if they're different
# Can be skipped if you don't take pictures or would like to use the Defy's libsoccamera.so to take 16:9 848x480 widescreen videos. Its one or the other -- Defy driver with no photo camera but better\widescreen videos or Bravo driver with photo camera but only 4:3 aspect videos.
$ This is to use the Bravo's kernel and ramdisk, if Miui is stock kernel based, ignore this step
% Custom Kernel roms only
~ I've only ran a Mac for 30 minutes, OS 7 or 8, and all I did was make it cuss and say dumb things with the text to speech option. I couldn't wrap my head around a mouse with only 1 clicker :silly:
Funny, the above reads really similar to how you port basically any Defy rom to the Bravo ICS+ and I know I've posted that tutorial before. These same instructions work for GB roms as well, just slightly modify accordingly.
thanks man!!

I'm not. I just have to play with my new toy for a bit.
Good luck with that. I'll help you test if you get it going.
I have my hands full trying to get any Atrix HD ICS rom to work with the AT&T JB kernel. Best I've done so far is getting the Canadian Bell ICS to finish gapps setup and get to the homescreen. Bootloops about a minute after that and I'll get maybe 30 seconds of screen time -- stressing maybe cause it only happened 3 out of 8 tries.. Can't get a logcat or even have the phone recognized over usb. Getting it to a partially working system, even if only for a minute, lets me know that it could possibly fully work.
Highly unstable

I did whatever you said and camera,WiFi worked well. But whenever I try to create Google account the device just reboots. It is highly unstable, only about 80 MB ram is free(slow),also music player also showed same problem as Google account did,
How can I make it stable, any idea???
If you can, upload what you're working on and I'll try it out. That'll be easier than asking for logcats and giving you ideas to try.
What gapps did you use? I always use the Defy Minimal gapps.
ok

Gapps depends on the rom -- some come with them, some don't.
You can upload to anywhere -- Mediafire, Google Drive, Dropbox, whatever's convenient for you.
