Started to have some problems with my phone today. WiFi wasn't connecting so I decided to reboot. Still wouldn't work, ran a fix permissions and still nothing. Decided to reboot a second time and got the safe mode screen.
After fixing permissions in cwm phone started up fine, but my APN settings were changed, WiFi still didn't work and all my icons had been moved or deleted.
Be careful out there guys.

He may have downloaded some BS. Many times when hearing about some malwear or something it could have been avoided if the person wasn't trying to download some pirated app.
Better get it vaccinated.

Just because its in the Store doesnt mean its not shady. Its been brought to attention a few times of very shady apps (mostly sexy picture apps but not always) putting malware on Android phones.

I was having dinner with one of my buddy and he was showing off his APP from his IPHONE and said that he can see everybody's real time location by typing in the phone number. Of course being me, i said "Yeah Right". So he type in my number and i was shocked that he was able to pick up my location within 10seconds. I asked what this app is called. His respond was...HELL NO I WON'T TELL YOU LOL...so now i am so eager to find out if anybody in here know this APP Name? Anybody?
Don't worry, this is impossible. Since you were having dinner with him, he probably just showed you the GPS position of his phone.
Have him use a persons number that isn't around.
Actually..that was my first thought, but i was wrong he showed me everything, but the name of the app
Its called iTrack and its a prank app. Location is the iPhone users current location

I forget ... I think latitude? will find all your gmail friends .. I tired it for like 2 seconds, cause didn't want the wife to know where I was... yes I had an iphone at the time, wife had a droid
edit.... might be this ? http://techpp.com/2009/12/24/how-to-track-a-cell-phone-number/
Completely illegal, not impossible tho. He proably didnt show you the name of the app because you could google it and find out it was a gag & you just got duped!!!!
Google latitude does the actual track real time. If enabled on both devices. HTC hero won't work with it. Tried and tested.

so i flashed the stock kernel because im going to the sprint store today. i figured since the most recent kernel blocks root and a custom recovery, i figured id just flash it and see what happened rather than odin stock. i was on stock build with nubernel v1 with clockwork 3.1.0.1.
soooo anyway, i did a back up, then flashed the kernel with clockwork. low and behold clockwork is gone, but im still have the "reboot in recovery" option when i hold the power button frome the old kernel. im also still ad free as i havent removed that app and superuser yet.
just thought it was strange.
game on.

Has anyone in the UK got the recent update, everytime I check there is no update

Got enough posts and threads on this SO I am closing this one as it looks like this is old news now
THREAD CLOSED
Asus' Italian branch office posted two days ago on their facebook stream that the update for WW SKUs is held up pending approval by Google.
Take that with a grain of salt about the size of the Empire State Building, however, since at first they blamed excessive load on their servers, then they shifted the blame on Google
That and the fact that it doesn't seem to fix anything, maybe they have pulled it.

I think SEEM in the operative word, as it clearly fixes lots of things, but perhaps not what you want it to fix...

I think I read you can't do the OTA if you have CWM installed, and you have to install the stock recovery.
Did you try this?

What is this? This just started today and my battery life has decreased substantially. I downloaded only two apps which were "airdroid" and "reality piano" both were deleted but it is still running.

Have you tried stopping the process and see what happens? It would seem that maybe something you downloaded or installed is either being polled or is polling using the daemon process. Obviously related to the camera or camera driver.
Or maybe you just left your stock camera app running. Check and see what applications you have running and see if any of them are related to the camera.
It stopped after an hour but now my phone is getting pretty hot
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
have you rebooted to see if the process restarts?
Yea I dont think its on anymore because the time has said 59 mins for a while
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
I'm going to throw a wild guess out there but you downloaded airdroid and reality piano both of which actively use the camera for whatever task they may have so its most likely one of the two.
Reboot your phone, start one of the apps and see if the process starts?
If its reality piano then you're sort of SOL because its main purpose is using the camera
If its airdroid try and disable the process, might stop a few features but the rest should be ok.

The fix only applies to Nexus devices when they get the 4.4.3 update. Each phone manufacturer (or whoever is responsible for updating their firmware) must implement a fix for the bug on their own. Google updates the Nexus devices directly (or supposedly). So Samsung would have to include a fix for specific Samsung phones.

Same here. Hopefully whatever officer of Samsung made this decision dies painfully and they revert to their old less douchy tactics. Otherwise my money is going elsewhere.
looks like there is no root, without root Light flow doesn't work.

No worries, that can be turned off. Go to settings, security, and chnage some setting from "high" or "tough" or "advanced" (I forget what they called it) to "normal." Once I turned it on "normal" I didn't see that message pop up anymore.
I still need root access, though...
I got the message with security set to normal. The developer has since updated the app and the message no longer appears.
