Scratch on screen - Transformer TF300T General

Hey guys i just bought the tf300 and so far loving it but i got it used and there is a scratch about 1 1/2 long on the bottom of the screen. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to to get rid of it. I looked online but all i saw were ways for phones and such with gorilla glass. Would those methods work even though our tablet doesn't have gorilla glass?

No, there is nothing you can do to remove a scratch. A screen protector may hide it for you though.

About 2 days after I got the tablet I installed Zagg's invisible shield. It also helps keeping the fingerprints away!

It seems like the TF300 can be easily scratched. I have the same problem too, there is a huge (3 inch) scratch and I have never dropped it.

I installed a screen protector right away after unboxing.this is not gorilla glass.

Your scratch wouldn't happen to be on the bottom left of the screen? My Transformer got a scratch last month and I have treated the thing more than delicately.

Scratches Easy should have Gorilla Glass

I really liked my TF300. It was a good price for the specs. But I really wish it had gorilla glass. I had mine no more than 2 weeks and it got a nice scratch right in the middle of the screen. I've had other tablets with Gorilla Glass and try as I might I never ever got a scratch on those. Does the TF300 have any type of coating on it to stop scratches? I'm really afraid to clean my screen much anymore because of getting scratches so easy. All I use is the cloth that came with it as well...
The first thing i did was applying a ultra clear screen protector for same reasons
However, i didn't have one on my One X
I use my shirt and have no issues. No scratches. Idk what you did...

I accidentally dropped my keys on the screen and thought for sure I would have a scratch but I was surprised when I didn't find any. It may not be Gorilla Glass but its still not that bad.

According to Asus it's not Gorilla Glass but it's "hardened glass".
I've had my tablet over a month now, not a single scratch on it. I haven't used any screen protectors or anything, just cleaned the screen every once in a while with the micro fiber it came with. Gotta say I'm really happy with the screen
I even took the tablet with me to my one week trip to Italy, but not a scratch there either

Using stock screen protectors permanently a bad idea?

I'm planning on using the stock front, back, and side screen protectors for my new Nexus 4 but have not seen many people doing the same. Is anyone using the stock protectors or is there harm doing so long-term? I am planning on using this with a the Exact Armour Case (sold on Amazon) too...
The front protector ist often not applied very well and has symbols für Volume an Power printed on it.
The back protector fits perfectly.
Iam only using them till they fall off^^ I dont think they will last very long.

I'm using both of them... and I don't have problems with this protectors

Why would you want to use them? It's got Gorilla glass 2, so it's not like it's gonna get scratched easily. The only protection you could get is against hitting and the screen protectors can't help you there.
Pretty certain that there's no side protectors. I'm still using the stock protectors until my BSE ones arrive. Problem is they are designed to be removed easily, especially the back one, so it's actually already coming loose just because my hand grazes the removal tab.

Because it's been established that the glass still scratches easily, even though it's marketed as gorilla glass. Mine got 2 micro scratches before I decided to put a screen protector on - it's a common issue.
Gorilla Glass is quite resistant to scratches from the key or coins (in your pocket) but a simple grain of sand can make visible scratch on it! I used stock screen protectors but they started to come off after a week, so I bought Spigen Dual Ultra Crystal for my Nexy and I'm definitely satisfied with it.:victory:

Some of the phones were coming with protectors around the sides too, some weren't.
How is the friction of the finger to the screen then? Is it much worse than without using a protector?

using the stock screen protectors is probably the worst thing you can do. They're not really even screen protectors at all. They are much more flimsy and thinner then a screen protector and why would you want to keep them on when the front has the buttons printed on them and the back has the IMEI on it. If you want protection get the SGP dual protector.

Only you can answer that. I personally use screen protectors on all my electronics, but not everyone likes them.

I don't have any screen protector on my N7. Most people buy a case, that covers the screen too. The N7 has scratch resistant screen (not Gorilla Glass, but almost), and I think it is enough for daily use, and when you have to put it in your backpack, you can use the case. (And it's not too easy to install those screen protectors without any little bubbles, I tried )

Is that official Nexus case enough ?
A screen protector won't prevent the fragile Nexus glass from breaking if it is dropped. I use a matte screen protector since it lets my finger glide over the surface and reduces smudges and reflections. It just feels better than the bare glass. Tricky to apply but worth the effort. Mine has been on for over a month with no signs of wear.
Here's a kit with 3 protectors, case and OTG USB cable. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA07R0FR8332
Maybe putting the silicone case on backwards will help protect the glass from breakage during transport.
Google for the best prices on matte screen protectors. No need for an HDMI cable as there is no matching connector on the Nexus.
I have no screen protector since I like the feel of the screen as it is. After 3 months of constant use, I only have few, tiny scratches.
You decide if you like to enjoy the N7 like it is out of the box (all slim with nice glass and stuff) but with few small scratches; or you want to avoid scratches completely and have bulky covers + some plastic on the screen.

You Should!
I regret not buying one for mine, i have many nasty scratches! The Nexus 7 can easily get scratched
I just bought a Skinomi protector last week sometime. Still waiting for a few bubbles to smooth out but other than that I like it. Easy install and my fingers can still slide well on the screen. The only time it feels a little "rubbery" is when typing. Overall I would recommend.

I'm glad I'm not the only one in this boat. I have a pack of tec armor non-glossy stickers sitting here. I tried for 30 minutes one day to get one on that :
a. did not interfere with camera [not that I use it...]
b. no air bubbles
c. properly aligned.
fail.
it was basically impossible with my fingers/hands and the static electricity attraction. the thing would jump almost an inch to attach itself randomly.
if i were terribly interested I would try to build a cardboard frame or something to align such a thing properly, but that wouldn't help with bubbles or wrinkles or whatever.
I use this protector in the ultra crystal. I found it was much easier to install than Zagg and other wet install protectors. Hardest part was keeping the dust off the screen long enough and that problem was solved by installing in the bathroom after steaming the room with the shower. I prefer the peace of mind of a screen protector, but I'm more paranoid than some.

The only reason you would need a screen protector is if you plan to use the touchscreen in a Beach or construction site constantly. The only way top scratch a gorilla glass screen is to force something harder than gorilla glass on the screen.
(Gorilla glass sits between 8-9 on the scale, for reference diamonds sit at 10)

Wrong. And what does Gorilla Glass have to do with this? The nexus 7 does NOT have Gorilla Glass.

I use a screen protector for my N7, I highly suggest it though, probably because I like my electronics to look fresh after months.

I dont know what to do...Some says it needed but some says dont want......i'm middle of nowhere
Like I said, in the end you'll have to decide yourself. There's a lot of people out there that prefer the feel of naked glass and say they have no scratches, personally I'm not willing to risk even the minor microscopic scratches that are only noticeable at just the right angle with the screen off, so I use protectors.

None whatsoever. I use the LG bumper and keep it in my pockets along with any change, keys, golf tees, etc.

Really Want to but scared of getting a horrible scratch that would both the hell out of me like those dust pieces in the screen protector
How about the back do you have one on it
I was the same as you. I took mine off a few weeks ago and I realized the screen doesn't easily scratch. I would recommend keeping a case though.. I couldn't imagine my phone without the case, I wouldn't break it in seconds

Have the bumper so yeah that will stay on and a dbrand skin on the back
I'm not using a screen protection. Got my N4 2 days after it was released (11/16/12 as far as I remember) and there is no scratch on the front glass. The back...well, it's not gorilla glass and you can see that on my phone. Got some small scratches there.

I don't use a screen protector on mine, although I sat it on the ground once at an outdoor basketball court to record my game. It flopped on its face and I got a very very small chip on the screen. I still prefer a naked screen over having a screen protector.
I don't have scratches. I used it for a month with no screen protector with no scratches at all, then decided it was time for a protector just in case. I also have an el'cheapo protector on the back to keep it nice and shiny and new.
My first N4, I had from November to April. I didn't have a screen protector on it, only had the bumper from February to April. No scratches on it. I RMA'd it and got a new one in May. I got a few light scratches on it a few days ago. I'm not using the bumper or a screen protector on this one. Maybe I should've. It looks nicer without anything on it, but you might get scratches. I don't know how they got there. It might've been when someone else was using my phone. I take good care of all my phones. If you go naked, eventually you'll get some light scratches.
The rolled edge of the glass was designed to be a pleasure to use as you swipe the screen. If you use a screen protector, you ruin that experience.
I've been using my phone without a case or screen protector on the front since I got the phone some months ago. Even from multiple trips to the ocean and being around sand, my screen is flawless. The glass is extremely scratch resistant.
I keep a screen protector on the back because that **** is not Gorilla Glass and it scratches easy.
Also, the oleophobic coating on my screen is completely gone now but oh well. I'm not obsessive compulsive about fingerprints.
I have a few very small ones and a huge horizontal one that goes almost to midway of the screen but they're not noticeable when screen is on. I knew they would eventually come so I don't really care anymore

mine is already 3 month old and NO SCRATCHES . I use dbrand for the back. I carry it in a pouch..
is it ok to put both nexus 4 and key?? my key scratched the screen protector several times

I have 3 big scratches on my screen. It is quite deep and oleophobic coating is wearing off quite bad :crying:
( If you see my scratches, i think you won't use it without protector  )

Had my N4 for 3 months naked. Been on the beach and not a single scratch in front and at the back. Screen still very smooth. Maybe im just too careful with my phone.

Scratches on screen

Does anyone realize that this tablet screen scratches easily? (Been using screen protectors for a year but then I stopped) I mean I only used my fingers and my tablet is in a case and there are scratches... Does anyone know a way to prevent scratches without a screen protector? I wonder if dust and dog fur can scratch it lol

Yes, my tablet's screen is also easily scrached, though...:'(

Yup
Same here, I have the keyboard so and a nice case but scratches keep appearing out of no where. I think the keys are hitting the screen or something. I started putting a cloth in between the keyboard and the screen when I fold it shut.
