I've had my S3 for a week now, and it is amazing and awesome, exceeding all my expectations. I keep all my settings maxed, because when I show it off to people, I want them to see the amazing colors at full brightness.
But the battery doesn't last more than a day, just like any phone.
So if you are a power user like me, plan on spending another $25 and order a battery now, you will need it.
I predict a temporary shortage, like there is with NFC tags now.
Does it last a whole day when power using though???
That is all I want is a phone that can make it 16-20 hours with whatever usage I throw at it!
If I heavy use my DroidX I will not make it until the end of day...even if I just end up on the phone for over an hour that day...and I am FAR from a power user!
I have no issues charging it every night...but I do have issues having to charge a phone twice a day.
Nope, this phone has battery issues, big time.
Came from the SGS2X same as tmo's SGS2 Hercules, this SGS3 has serious issues, my carrier gave me a new battery yesterday to try and resolve the issue.
Case in point, yesterday before I swapped the battery, was charged to 100%, got an incoming call, was on the phone for 15 seconds, put the phone down, no apps in use, memory clear. 30 minutes later, I left home, phone in pocket, after 10 minutes, unlocked phone, was at 93%, I went to the store to get a new battery, something isn't right.
Did a full wipe on the phone after I got the new battery, going to test the next 3 days, my carrier said if it's not resolved in 3 days they'll give me a new phone.
As a side note, my roommate has the SGS3, we picked them up from the same carrier on the same day, his does not have this issue at all, both phones configured the same.

Not for anything but I've yet to see any modern smartphone last for 20 hours of heavy usage without needing to be charged. Even my iphone 3GS which had very good battery life wouldn't last that long.

No, its not going to last 16 to 20 hours using it like a power user. Absolutely not. If you are taking pictures, surfing the web, playing games, connecting on and off wifi as you travel around the city, you'll need more battery, somehow.
I took it to Seattle's Pride parade last week, and took hundreds of pictures and a few videos. I even uploaded one video over mobile network (which took like 15 minutes) When I got home about 6 hours later the battery was at 15%, which is amazing, considering.
My wife is thinking about getting one, and I'm sure it would last 20 hours in her hands, and of course she would tease me about it, too.

Well I use the term "Anything I throw at it" loosely...as I a not a "Power" user I am not likely to be gaming ALL day or Streaming ALL day...but I functionally use my phone through out the day...and if I have to be on the phone 2 -3 hours that day...I need the phone to make it until bed time at least for me.
With my DroidX I make it through almost every 16-20 hour day...unless my daughter steals it and plays Temple Run or I spend a load of time browsing the web while bored and not at home.
Nitro...It does sound like that phone has a serious issue though!

Yeah in a sense like that I can understand! I wouldn't expect it to make it through all that...especially the 15 minute upload if it wasn't done via Wifi!
I guess my point is when I read reviews on phones anywhere on the net I have major issues with people marking something down due to battery issues...even if it has better battery life than any other phone! Not saying this one does...cause I don't even have it in my hands yet...but just in general.
I can't have this phone be worse than the DroidX is all I care about...and if I go by ratings alone...there aren't many better standby phones out there...which should mean I should be fine.
the only problem with this phone and battery use, is that its so awesome, you'll be using it so much
so plan now, and be ready
the battery is great, and large, as will be your enjoyment

I am fully expecting the first few weeks (the honeymoon period) to have battery issues...it is after that on a basic work day is what I am worried about.
I have used a smartphone for the last 4 years...so I understand normal battery usage and when I know I will need more juice. Some days like that parade that was listed are days I prepare to have extra juice around...just the normal days is my concern.
But yeah I am going to use and abuse this ***** for a good month straight I am sure!

My battery does pretty good too. I still got the external charger/battery combo though. I don't feel right without one. I had 3 batteries for the gs2 and feel like I need the same for this. If something pops up, I have 2 fully charged batteries most of the time and just grab them and go.

I currently have 2 unused sgs3 batteries sitting on my end table. Of course, they are unused because the damn things are 1 mm too big. Stupid chinese vendors...
Not a bad idea... Put a spare battery in the glove box or something. May come in handy.
But yeah i want a phons to last 16-20 hours. Screen time for me maxes out at about 2.5 hours for me in a day. So far the phone has done pretty well.

Because...
I want to drop them and sell my Evo.
I can't deal with the battery life on this phone anymore, no matter which ROM I use, and how much I tweak SetCPU and/or JuiceDefender...
It's a great phone, but I am going to settle for a little less but allow my phone to last more than 1.5 days (at best, with minimal usage)
If somebody could let me know I would appreciate it dearly..thank you
Mike
I have no idea when they will change their TOS again but I'll gladly give you $100 for your evo..
Who could possibly know if/when Sprint would change their TOS?
Battery life is great on the Evo. I charge my phone every 35 hours or so.
Battery life isn't great on the Evo, don't be that guy.
But, any modern smartphone isn't going to last 1.5 days with heavy usage, except maybe a blackberry.
If your only complaint is battery life, sell your evo and buy a bold or something.
Battery life is the same across all smart phones, not sprint and their last change was earlier this year, you won't c one anytime soon. Get a bb

It's not final, it's 'stable'
There would be a very disappointed community if CM became 'final'
Fresh 3.2.0 with the standard kernel.
This was with some general facebook, browsing, texting, talking etc. I would say moderate to heavy use. 7 hours of use out of a single charge is pretty damn stellar I would say.

I'm still curious if you realize your phone connects to the internet though.. (and I hope you have a sense of humor)
I'm not aware of any modern smart phone with a fast processor, touch screen, multiple wireless radios, etc. that can last through a day of heavy use. Not iPhone, Evo, Galaxy, etc. Like any mobile device, you learn to manage power. When I am out and about on my laptop and not using wifi, I turn it off. I lower the screen brightness, etc. When I need to use it, I turn it on. Leaving everything and anything turned on is like leaving all the lights on in your house while staying in a single room at a time--wasteful of power.
I keep a charger by my bedside and one at my desk. I charge my phone overnight and with regular use (checking emails and texts as they come in, maybe some light web browsing on the can, etc) I am usually around 40-50% when I get home after work. If I am using it a lot or end up someplace with poor reception like a basement or a control room that is surrounded by ducts and wiring, I will either turn off data or use the charger at my desk to top off at some point during the day.
I have yet to have any problems with this since it's a workflow that evolved from my personal uses and needs. Yours may be different. Maybe you drive a lot and use GPS or music streaming. If so, get a car charger. If you are away from all outlets and not in a car for large parts of the day, maybe grab a spare battery off ebay. At least you have the option. Some smart phones don't even let you swap the battery in emergencies if you want to. I've found Evo pretty much on par with other phones with similar hardware. Just turn off radios not in use and keep chargers or MicroUSB cables in convenient places like nightstand, desk, car.
7 hours out of a single charge sucks, my iphone 3G got 1-2 days on average with heavy usage, but I didn't want to be an Apple fanboy anymore, so I went HTC, and HTC batteries SUCKKKKKK
Anyways, I hope Sprint changes terms soon so I can PEACE OUT

You can see some things in the BattClock area:
4.0g means "4 giorni", that is four days of battery life since last battery swap
[email protected] means 195 minutes of "CPU time", since last battery swap
143£ means 143 minutes of display time since last battery swap
Alas, I have no easy way to track phonecall time since battery swap, if someone knows a registry keys that does that I'd appreciate (there's none under HKLM\System\Uptime).
Some facts: I own a total of 4 batteries for this device, the one currently inside the phone is the original one that came with it, the other three are chinese clones which stand on their own feet not bad at all.
I run the batteries to at least 10%, never lower than 5%, before swapping them with the next one (I have them numbered) to even the cycles.
In this run I had a normal work routine use: probably total 30 minutes of calls, regular use of calendar, database, phonebook, data transfer and synchs with PC, some pictures, under 1hour of manga reading, today I've been playing around with new ringtones, alarm every morning, phone and radio always on.
Display backlight is set to the minimum necessary to comfortably read the screen, I use Lumos, and I am during almost all the time inside a building.
So even if I pay attention to reduce battery drain the most, I still "use" it all the time.
As a comparison, in continuous video playback I get about 4hrs of Frasier episodes, listening with headphones.
What's the best you've got form this device?
I can sqeeze 3 days, but its down to 3-4% thats with txting internet playing games

Well I cannot manage to get rid of sense, because without it there would be no way to have a quicklinks set like CHT's. Otherwise I'd save 60MB worth of ram, and some battery drain as well
Hi,
Ciao,
whit your stock Rom and Radio, how long did your battery?
con la tua Rom originale, quanto durava la batteria?
Thanks
Grazie
You mean the original stock rom? It's been ages that I started using AxLor roms, and the original rom was on when I was still learning to use this phone, so I did a lot more things than I do now and drained more power. As far as I can remember anyway, should have been 2 days. Newer radios improved the battery life notably, 2.12 and especially 2.14
LOL we've got three aliens living on mars
well u shouldn't be using an HD2
My thoughts exactly
Anyway I'm running fine this time as well, with my second battery, the first chinese I bought.
I have 39% battery left, and 2.9days runtime on my back, so it's another 4day-er for me
That fourth option was actually a troll-trap, since achieving more than 4days (on a normal 1230mAh battery that is) is impossible unless leaving the phone in standby is almost all you do... and in that case owning an HD2 is a waste of money
My battery can hold my HD2 on his feets for 4-5 days.
This was a whole different story before!
I got my HD2 from my brother, the reason why he gave it to me was because he hated it because of the worst battery life.
He had to charge it every single day.
When I got it from him, I had the same problem.
I charged it in the night, and in the begin of the evening, I had to charge it again, when I didn't even used it so much!
Later I bricked my HTC HD2 (not with upset ofc) with the HSPL things.
It went for repair, and when I got it back... the battery lives for 4-5 days.
Of course it depends on the use ofcourse, but right now, I update my weather and Twitter every 2-3 hours, and I txt sometimes, and sometimes a call, and I use my camera time to time.
With this use... it can live for like 4 days.
And if I would use it even less, then it would live for 5 days, maybe more...
I don't know what they did with the HD2 at the repair, but I know they did an awesome job!
And no... they didn't gave me other batteries, ccoz they werent sended to repair either.
In my opinion, the low battery life for the other people, is a hardware problem, somewhere in the motherboard maybe? a battery leak.
It's also not a battery problem.
You might as well turn off your phone. I dont see the point in having a smartphone where you use it like a dumbphone. If that's the case, just sell your HD2 and get a Nokia 6230...those could last for weeks.
I get about 50hrs (2days) of heavy usage out of my HD2. That's good enough for me.

yeah, I don't buy that either. With heavy usage you are not going to get 2 days. Just my screen being on (50% brightness) watching tv shows I can get about 4 hours. Considering that is about 300mah, that sounds right. That is heavy usage, screen on, video playing, or internet or game playing. Unless you put your screen at 20% brightness, which once again, begs the question, what is the point of having a smartphone if you turn it so far down you can barely see the screen?
I have a charger in the car, 2 chargers stashed at work, several at home. I have yet to buy a second battery like I did with my tp2, but if I ever decided I needed more juice, that would be the plan.
For those whose battery life is over 24hrs, I'd be interesting in seeing their usage stats. For example, battclock will provide times for how long the screen is on and how long the phone is idle for.
Those numbers would be useful to go along with the battery life to accurately show just how much the phone is used.
I agree as in buying the HD2 means you plan to give some sense (pardon the pun, it's not intended ) to all its power, and not using it just as you would do with a low end Nokia.
Anyway that doesn't mean you plan to use all that power constantly. I do watch TV shows on my phone, that's when I'm on the public means, and 4hrs is the best I can get. I also do read manga, and the big screen helps. Yet even if I'm not stressing the snapdragon, I find useful the good camera, the GPS, the big screen, the possibility to check my mail without needing a PC, even if I don't do all those things everyday.
On a side note, before the HD2, I was using a dualsim phone (which did just the phone), a coolpix camera, and an ipaq. With all these things inside the same device now, I get to 4 days, while I couldn't get 4 days out of my dualsim alone before.
In reply to @joshoon, I think that they just upgraded the radio firmware..., for me chaging radios has gone a long way battery-wise in the past

Heyz,
My battery is now on %12 after a few days (only had it one time on USB to put some music on it for 5-10 min).
I usually charge my HD2 when it's 10%, but on 10% it can live for one more day either.
Clock: 126717 (probably 12m, 65h, 61d?
CPU: 1999 (probably 19m, 9h, 9d?)
Screen is not there btw.
I used my phone pretty often last days.
But it wasnt 61 days?
that's in seconds, silly
Divide by 60 for minutes, by 3600 for hours, and by 86400 for days, which mean you had almost 1.5 days.
"Clock" is time since last reboot
"ClockSession" is since last battery change... so if you never swap batteries like I do but just charge it, you should avoid rebooting the device before charging, or there is no way to accurately measure battery life.

Im charging my hd2 right now, so how can I show you guys about my battery life now?
I've been using it for 2 days and so far I have nothing but good things to say about it. The battery life so far has been top notch. My phone has currently been off the charger for 15 hours and 2 minutes, and I still have 41% battery left. It's very responsive. Everything works on my HW003 Evo. The one problem I have discovered so far is that when I record a video, once I'm done it force closes the video app. But the good thing is that the recorded video is saved intact and I can re-open my camcorder app immediately if I want to record another video. So it's really not a big issue. Other than that everything else sems to be working very smoothly. I have Go Launcher EX running on top of it and everything is super-fast. So far I'm really loving this leaked ROM. What about you guys(and girls)???

Well, I took it off the charger just after midnight last night, and I woke up at 7am. So 7 of those hours it was resting. But since then I've been to the gym and listened to music the whole time, sent a few texts, received about 30-40 texts from twitter, browsed the web for some of the links, viewed some android central youtube videos, updated some apps in the Market, made 2 phone calls, etc.. The point is with my last ROM and kernel, normally I'd be at about 15% battery by now.. There seems to be a noticeable improvement. But I posted this thread because I'm wondering if it's my imagination or if anyone else is having similar experiences.

Pretty decent
A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on Android OS. We now have CyanogenMod.
Where's a link for it? I wanna try this out and put in my .02!
Fyi my g1 only lasted 4-6 hours on a charge using stock battery, I turned off the radio and let it sit in my sock drawer it stayed on in stand by for nearly a week on that same battery.
These threads bragging about battery life are just BS, im sure if I want all day not using my evo I'd also get 16+ hours on a stock. I typically get a good 14-16 hours using my 3000 mAh battery and being constantly on my phone.
I noticed a lump in my battery last night (SBC maybe?) And now im back on the stock battery, this is my 3rd time today its back on the charger, my point? None but these threads don't mean a thing unless there's any really useful information to significantly extend the battery, especially to us users who do use our phones and not just let them sit idol all day.

If anyone says a phone can last more than 4-5 hours, then using a phone to them is turning the screen on to check the time, then quickly turning it off.
Anyways link? I wanna use Sense with Gingerbread.

Last I checked there's a few in the development forum, but they are ports and a work in progress and have a lot of things broken. As son as there is a stable gingersense im all over that.
I loaded the leaked 2.3.3/sense 1.0 that tmartin put together. It is 100% functional for me. Some people were having issues with the screen staying at 100% brightness, and the camera acting strange. I think that may have been a variety of factors, wipe quality, hardware number, and screen type.
The rom was flawless for me. I have a 3500 battery and used my phone like a crackhead for 15.5 hours before the battery died. I was web surfing most of the time, and reading the leak thread that hit over a 1000 posts in a day before the op locked it up.
I am now using the misfit gingersense rom, and it is working 100% for me, apart from some very minor black on black text when word suggestions pop up using swype.

I flashed the tmartin 2.3.3 sense leak as well. I liked it for the most part...but it wasn't anything really special...some menu changes and it did have the nice fast boot feature. Sense was still a little sluggish when scrolling through home screens. I flashed back to cm7....what I do miss is the stable 4g that I do not get with cm7 final.

Wtf are you talking about!?
A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on Android OS. We now have CyanogenMod.
This post was not just about battery life. That was just one aspect of it. I posted it to get feedback from others who are also running the ROM put together by TMartin from the leak. I still don't get why people get so funny acting when it comes to others talking about how long their battery lasts. If you don't like it or don't care to hear about it then move on, as it may not be for you. But others may be interested to see if it improves their battery life. Remember, every post here isn't catered just for you. The world is bigger than just you. Anyway, I use my phone quite regularly, whether it be browsing the web, viewing video, texting, listening to music, etc.
I also forgot to mention that I'm using the stock battery.
For those who asked where they can find the download, here ya go. It's linked in the first post:

Dude, your battery might have cancer. You should do a battery self-exam at least once every month. It's best that you do it in the shower so that the battery can hang low. Make sure you roll your battery through your fingers to check for any abnormal growth or lump.
If you feel a lump or that the shape of your battery has changed at all, don't hesitate to see your doctor. Remember, catching battery cancer in the earliest stages gives you a much better chance at survival!

I layed on a flat surface and noticed it rocked a little bit, so yea it has a slight deformity. Dr. Abu ghraib can have a look at it tomorrow.
I flashed it and been running it for a few hours now. Its alright, nothing ground breaking or impressive. Im kinda disappointed about no vertical battery or the on/tv off effect like the asop roms have. I thought I was gonna see that in gingersense. No big deal though, its same ol sense on gingerbread. I did notice some improvements in the browser. Fair enough, its cool, but still a little buggy.
Screen dimming works for me BTW, on my 0003.
Tomorrow will be the real test as far as the battery goes.
What bugs have you noticed?
Hey Everyone, Updating this post to reflect some new news about my battery life. On day 2 here. It's 2:25 PM in the afternoon and the Green bar has not even dropped from being full.
Now- It's important to note also. I received my phone on Sat at 10:10am. Let my phone go, NEVER charged it all day sat and used it. Let it SIT OVER NIGHT and never charged it.
Used it sunday as well and by the time I plugged it in it was not even yellow it was low, but not yellow and the Battery time said 1 Day and 6 hours and some change.
I think for tonight I'm not going to charge it either because most likely I will be at 80% or something the battery is so insane.. ill go into the next day.. I will post SCREENSHOTS for you guys later if you want.. but this battery life is SUPER amazing...

Maybe it's their Carriers and location?
I know the farther away from a tower you are the more "juice" the radio uses for the signal right? most people on here are over seas right? I live in the US and i'm on ATT living in a major city area.
+1 for great battery life. I'm a heavy user and came home after work and I'm at 40% (7-8pm). My vibrant would usually die by 5.

I got some pretty bad battery life when i had it on the older firmware (would run out after 12 hours)
but now it easily does 12 hours and is at 50%! thats after i updated to the latest fw
Battery life on SGS 2 is the worst i ever seen on any android... or any other phone either..

+1000 when the signal is weak the phone is constantly searching and is trying to "hang on" to the signal harder. I notice this all the time when I am at work in a crappy AT&T reception area in New York City.
I am more and more suspecting my old Captivate had better reception - I never was without signal at work. With SGS2, I sometimes pick the phone up from my desk only to find that there is no signal on it.

You may have a dodgy unit...I'm finding the battery life to be significantly better on my SGS2 than my original SGS (running your rom )
I recieved my S2 last weekend from Clove. Initially I thought it wasn't displaying the correct percentage. Turns out, for me, that it was as good as it seemed.
I've never seen such good battery life on a phone.
Currently on AT&T in MA USA, if it helps anyone.

So what did you get in its place?
When it's good, it is REALLY good...
But then suddenly, out of the blue, the battery graph will turn bezerk, and will try to plunge itself to death on the 0% line within about 12 hours...
But as long as the bug hasn't shown up yet: enjoy!
(probably fixable though in the near future, seeing how fast Samsung is already throwing out new firmwares for it...)

Battery Thoughts
Guys,
I have had mine now for a week and have noticed that unless I am in a relatively stable signal area I am only getting about 8-10 hours of reasonable use , which i have to say is absolutely rubbish, however I am swithching to GSM only, a lot more in areas where it would constantly be looking for stronger signals and hey presto 1-2 % per hour ish.
I have tried many combinations of apps removal and the above seems to be the only thing that appears to help.
Anyone have any or similar?

I'm not at all, and i'm here in the US on ATT. I do have that "bug" where it will say 3G then Switch back to H+ a lot back and forth, but even with that the battery life is AMAZING. So i'm thinking that bug isn't effecting things much.
I have NOT rooted my phone yet, and I have not "removed" any of the stocks apps yet.
I do PLAN on doing that, but i have not done so yet, and it's great.
Battery thoughts
I really am thinking that there is no uniform issue that fixes this and some people its great other s rubbish....may there is a dodgy batch of batteries that went out.....
Battery Life- Downs and Ups!
My first thoughts on the battery life were very positive. Almost 10 jours of constant playing and still some juice in the tank.
Then it all went a bit downhill, with it needing charging after just 4hrs. I found that was down to "Tektrak" app, therefore that was uninstalled never to return.
Even running AVG my phone was giving pretty good battery life, certainly a day of fairly heavy use.
I upgraded to the latest official Samsung firmware last week and since then the battery life has been incredible, despite the fact I live & work in dodgy reception areas.
I'm getting over 24hrs even running virus, Lifestyle's Bedside Night Clock overnight and using it quite extensively. It's still at the stage where all the iPhone users want to play with it to see what they're missing too so its on most of the day.
Frankly I can't believe how well it is performing. Don't know what Samsung have done but it seems to work.
Everyone seems to be having mixed reactions to the beattery life. Could possible be the way we use it or maybe faulty devices. But the reactions are almost 50-50 so it would be a disaster if half the number of devices turn out to be faulty.
I am sick of poor performance of my EVO's battery. I am not able to use the phones full capability for sake of battery exhaustion fear. My Evo last for 6-7 hour a day for very light(almost no) use.
I juice up 6-7 Hours by:
1) Disabled background data in setting
2) Use Juice Defender
3) Uninstalled useless app from Sprint via Titanium Backup (this proves I am rooted)
4) Refrain my self to use phone for long voice call (less than 30 minutes a day)
5) Refrain my self to use applications. (Forget about Data hoggers like Netflix and other I use skyfire or Dolphin browser to read newspapers.)
6) Scheduled my Emails to sync once a day
The points 4,5 and 6 really pisses me off. If I can use my phone as a phone at the end of the day then what is the purpose of having a cell phone??
Anyways I am not using my EVO and Sprint's 4G to full potential in fear of battery. iPhone will mostly not offer me most of the things so I will be saving most of the battery at-least for a day and be able to talk more.(What most of the iphone users are claiming with coming of iOS5)
Switching to iPhone the biggest thing I have to lose is flash. I was thinking 4G network but again I am not using 4G most of the time in fear of saving battery.
In a phone these 3 features will fulfill my appetite:
1) Able to make calls
2) Use web browser
3) Use Navigation
It would be great to know what ROM and kernel you are using.
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712990
Let's keep in mind, the Evo's core is old and big.
It is an early 2009 core, in fact.
The newer cores, say in the Evo 3D, are half the size and much more efficient on the power consumption.
sounds like your phone isn't sleeping. what rom/kernel you running?
get spare parts app and see what's causing your wake lock
I used to have an iphone and never really got a good battery life out of it either, maybe a full 8hrs with normal usuage. Have u ever considered an extended battery? 2700mah's are relatively cheap on the internet. I have one and with heavy usage I can barely get it to drop below 50% on most days
lol with your "light" usage i could easily make it through two days. Something must be wrong.
I make it a whole day with sync on, background data on, push email, no juice defender, reading xda for a while, bunch of texts, and a little bit of calls.
+1 on using spare parts to find out what.
Using nav will eat your battery... no doubt about that. I will on the Iphone as well though.
I am completely stock right now and don't have my Trident Electra shipped in yet, so stock battery. I leave background data on, sync mail and other apps hourly, use Pandora and Dolphin HD regularly, Google Maps as needed, don't talk a lot but text and GMail constantly, and I have no problem getting through 10 to 12 hours without charging. Not as good as my old BlackBerry, but not horrible considering the huge screen and multiple uses. And being uprooted right now, all I use are Startup Manager and Advanced Task Killer with low security and crazy autokill on. Your screen must be awake constantly for some reason, I would look in to that.

Agreed, my phone (and battery) are over a year old and I would still get over a day of use with your usage. If you are considering going iPhone for battery alone but prefer Android OS, I would say no as there are other options to try first. However, if there are other reasons you want to go iPhone such as you prefer iOS or some other factor, then yes, you should switch.
OP, definitely post up what ROM/kernel you are running. I have a mod for AOSP kernels that helps battery life even more, so I'd be happy to get you a good setup
For me personally, an external battery charger fixed all my battery problems. Before I got mine, I swear I would unplug my Evo and by the time I hit my door it was showing 95%. As soon as I got the external, even on a completely stock Evo I got almost an hour of light use before it dropped at all. Since the gingerbread update though, battery use is simply amazing. I can work a 9 hour day and with light use I go home with 65-70% battery left.

I agree. I charge my battery in an external charger, that takes it to 100%.
Phone has been off charger for 10 hours now, with texting, surfing, few phone calls, and some games and I am at 71%
Even if I didn't use an external charger, worst case now I would be at 61%.
Something is wrong with your phone, or you have ****ty service where you are.
No way... that would be a reason to switch from an iPhone.
My iPhone friends are always cording up to recharge. I just reach into my fifth pocket to take out my spare battery, pop back cover and depleted battery out, replace with the fresh and power up. I never have to ever hover around a corded phone afraid to miss a call.
Don't understand how people would purchase a portable electronic device that you can't change the battery. To me that is unacceptable. I was able to do that in the sixties, why can't I do that now.
That is why these battery threads, at least to me, are superfluous.
Of course, YMMV. You all carry on about the battery work a rounds. Just letting you know there might be another way.

Honestly the reasoning, knowing Apple, is likely because they can control what battery you use, if you cannot remove it.
Preventing aftermarket batteries.
Stupid? Yeah.
Typical Apple? Yeah.
I wouldn't doubt I'm right.
1. Try a different kernel and/or ROM
2. Get an extended battery if you feel you need it. ( iPhone your stuck with the stock battery no matter what)
Problem solved.
Would Foghorn' Leghorn make a really bad narrator?
On topic: The iPhones battery starts to lose charge after about 7-8 months and its $75 to have it replaced. Battery life is definitely better but at least with HTC you can replace your own batteries; for a very small fee might I add.
Someone has a new avi lol.

THATS EXACTLY HOW I FEEL. I gave in to buying the extended battery from best buy for 70 bucks. And finally my battery lasts all day. I'm running decks x I think with tiamat 4.0.4 and viperboys mod and I used to not make a day without the extended battery. When u buy a phone it should last a day without extra money spent... so I'm either waiting for iPhone to come to sprint, nexus 3 if it has good battery life, or the photon 4g. Maybe even the sgs2. Engadget also reviewed the evo 3d, and said the battery might be worst than the evo 4g.
