Thanks to quantumfoam I've now got coldfusionx up and running on the blade.
I prefer to use a pattern unlock, but when I enable that, it doesn't disable the slide to unlock which is then pointless. Anyone know how to turn this off?
I don't really get why the hard buttons are replicated on screen, can we turn these off to recover the screen space?
Cheers,
Alex
Hey mate. Glad to see u finally got ColdFusionX running.
Playing around with this app should solve ur lockscreen problems :
www.appbrain.com/app/antilock/com.s2get.android.antilock
And flashing this will disable softbuttons :
http://www43.zippyshare.com/v/39668128/file.html
Cheers. The soft keys are gone which is great, but the slidelock killer is no good for ics sadly. I remember cm7 had a switch for it, worth suggesting to the authors of this rom maybe?

Yeah, but it's buggy. Select 'none' gives us none, select slide gives us slide, select pattern gives us pattern and slide. Never mind, I'm going back to CM7, it's just not stable enough for my purposes. Thanks anyway to all who helped.

So I've searched through the threads and there doesn't really seem to be an answer for this other than to use something like widgetlocker, which I don't really want to do because I would like to still be able to use the music player controls from the lock screen. I'm just so annoyed by the haptic feedback every time I want to unlock the phone!
Does anyone know of any way to disable this?
btw Running Azure 1.0.1
Same here. But sometimes, if there is no answer in search means the problem can be solved easily... But I'm still finding the answer too
Go to: Menu - Settings - Security, then uncheck the "Use tactile feedback" option. Hope this is what you need.
@Rapier - yeah, I tried that but unfortunately all it does is disable all haptic feedback except for when unlocking the phone :S
Anyone have any ideas?
have been looking for this too a while ago and i have found this in the hero forums:

I haven't had the time back then to test it out myself so i don't know if it will work

Strange. For me it works exactly as it should. Is disabling the feedback only for the unlock pattern, on the other keyboards, dialer and so on, haptic feedback is still present.
Are you using stock or custom ROM? I recall you've said something about Azzure. Maybe this is the issue. I'm using stock ROM and have no problems disabling through the way I told you.

Ohhh ok yeah I guess that's the problem there. I'm running Azure 1.0.1 and unfortunately there does not seem to be any option on my ROM to disable the haptic feedback for the lockscreen as it uses the vanilla lockscreen, for which I believe there was no option to remove haptic feedback. But yes, I do recall being able to turn it off when I was running a stock ROM.
Well, that's a bummer, but thanks anyway!

It's an error in custom animations I have uploaded, since I haven't created animations I can't fix it, but if its bothering you so much, you can flash stock animations just for lockscreen, it should fix it.

I wasn't aware that the problem was with the custom animations... good to know.... but I don't think that the problem is really severe enough to pay much mind to it.
I'm moving this to General because it's not really development related.
Not sure this is on topic but i'll give it a go.
My phone has just updated to 2.2.1 (thanks vodafone) and now has a new unlock screen when it first wakes up. This involve two sliders, one that appears to be a screen unlock, and the other something to do with silent/volume.
The phone unlock would e good, if i couldn't just press the menu button a second time to achieve the same end. Can the menu button be cancelled, in order to make the unlock bar useful?
Also, is the other slider bar customisable?
Failing this, is there anywhere that actually goes through all of the main changes, so I can educate myself?
Cheers, Steve

I can't find anything under settings about Cyangenmod but my system info says:-
Android version 2.2.1
Baseband 62.50sj.20.17u_2.22.28.25
kernal 2.6.32.9-27237-gbe746fb
build number FRG83D
Does this narrow it down?
If it helps, settings wallpapers, does not then send me off to animated wallpapers. So maybe it's not a full 2.2.1 because vodafone realise that they stripped out too much memory/cpu originally that its not man enough to run some stuff.
Cheers.

Okay, after re-reading your post I now understand that you're just using plain stock. No custom rom. The sliding bars are not customizable.

I am just confused. Put it this way. In order to wake up the phone and start using it, I press the menu button. This opens up the unlock screen, cool.
Here's the problem, do I now move my thumb from the menu button and swipe it across the screen to unlock my phone..........or do I just press the menu button again. It does the same thing. So what is the point of the unlock swipe?

I suppose depending on the circumstances it might be easier to press a button that you can feel than something on a touchscreen that you can't.
There have been times when I have been wearing my gloves at work that the touchscreen doesn't respond to well while wearing them. However hitting the menu button works fine for exiting the lock screen.
How's that for an acceptable answer?
I am running cm7 with 4g rom and nighly #18 and i want to be able to disable the main lockscreen((either one of the 4 that offers CM)) and just leave the gesture lock only.
Anyone has any idea on how to do this? Thanks
[edit]
i tried no lock and its a no go, it disables all, found an app called gesture lock but you have to pay....

Yeah it took me a second to find it lol. On 6.1.2 the option was in a diffrent location and on 7 RC2 I had to look for a good minute to find out where that settings new location was.
Moreover. I love the guesture lock and its on only thing I use. I hae guestures for everything. I am still getting use to the guesture feature for texting. I just cant ever remember to use it lol.

Yes! What android version are you using? Flash a kernel with s2w support. (google it, you will have everything there)
Download trickster mod from playstore and activate swipe to wake, you will be able to turn your screen on by swiping from left to right in your screen and to turn it off the other way

Yes, you can also use this, but it is easier that what you think... In the fourth page of the app (Specific settings) you can find an option in the bottom which says Settings to Wake Screen (or something like that, (I have it in Spanish: Control para Despertar Pantalla). There, you can enable s2w+sws, and that's it, without installing any apps!

any app (or process) to do this without rooting?
i am not any advanced user. rather want to have a stable system not to worry about and put my efforts to some thing else!

Is there a kernel that allows the capacitive key backlights to be turned on at all times that the screen is on? I'm using ElementalX and I can't see anything in the settings.
I know there's an app on Play that does this but it needs to be re-enabled after every reboot.

There's a setting under "Buttons" in the settings. Disable the toggle titled "Backlight". I've never had mine turn back on after I've toggled that off.

Yes, that might work.
You can try Xposed + Gravitybox, but if you're willing to go that route I'd suggest running a custom ROM, because all of them have that option

You may try with EX Kernel manager, setting brightness on sys/class/leds/button-backlight
I tried quickly, setting to 255 light them up and short time after screen goes off they are lightning off too, when screen goes on they are lightning up again.

I don't think that I'm doing this correctly. Do you mean in Tools/User Settings, then add a new setting so that I end up with " sys/class/leds/button-backlight/255" on the top line? The bottom line shows "NA".
Edit: doh.... I finally worked it out. Thanks heaps. This was exactly what I was looking for.

How did you get this to work? I can create a sys/class/leds/button-backlight by typing it directly into the user settings but then I can't change its value (stays na). Or I can follow the path to sys/class/leds/button-backlight but then I cannot select it.
