Hi Chaps
Got probs with my 16gb class 4 micro sd card.
Bought an htc hd2 off ebay last week which came with the above card and winmo 6.5.
I wanted to test out WM7 which I did, didn't enjoy it so tried to get Android working.
Now I came across the 199mb problem which I fixed no probs but now the sd card will just not play ball in CWM. It says it makes the partitions but this is instant and should take a few minutes being a 16GB sd card. When I come to mount the thing it just error's and says cannot mount sd card.
I've tried doing a full erase using the samsung sd tool and that took over 3 hours to complete which is strange. I've also used the tool to create partitions which it does without any problems.
If I put the SD card in my fiancee's HTC Desire and mount and format it it works fine but when I come to mount it on my hd2 it still can't mount it.
I also have a 4GB micro sd card which is class 2 and this works perfectly with CWM both with partitioning and mounting.
I'm on the verge of snapping this card in half and buying a new one so before I do I thought I'd ask on here for any advice.
Many Thanks
Use Panasonic SD Formatter and format using that. Should work then. No even need for a full erase, but if you want you can, but not needed. It should recover the rest of the SD card.

Cheers for that, done a quick format and it finished but now windows won't read it. Just comes up with the message disk is not formatted do you want to format it now.
Is this normal?
No problem. Erm well I've formatted my 8GB class 8 using that and I've never encountered that problem. When your formatted did it come up that it was restored to 14/15GB? You might aswell go ahead and format it.

Duh me, I had to remove it from the laptop and back in for windows to pick it up.
Just tried mounting the sd as USB storage and I get the following error
"E:Unable to write to ums lunfile (No such file or directory)"
Trying to mount the sd card I get this error:
"E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory) Error mounting /sdcard!"
As soon as I put my 4bg sd card in and try to mount it it works straight away
That's very odd. I don't know very much about SD cards/memory so I wouldn't know what's wrong with that.
I think you're best off getting a new card as I think that ones maybe worn out.
I recommend you don't use ebay for sd cards, they can easily be poor copies, just buy them from a recognised store, Amazon or Play
Cheers for the help guys. Think I'll just stick it in the digital camera as that seems to work fine and buy a new one from amazon or play.
yeah.. dont ever buy memory cards from ebay...
i tried buying one 32gb microsd before..
my comp doesnt even detect it..
I'm pretty bored of this problem...
a week ago I've found my sd card sand disk 4Gb class 4 corrupted when I found that everytime I take a photo, I found it corrupted when the phone is connected with PC and sd mouted...
so I take a sand disk 2Gb that I have had on a camera and I use it...
Today, again the same problem
2 sd card corrupted with no way to format it...
I always us CM7 (RC 7.1 when I had the 4Gb card and nightly now)...
Is the phone broken? or I have to do something...I've notice that this problem is very common, but I don't understand if is an hardware problem or software, kernel...
I also have Darktremor installed...if can help...
thanks for any advice
Have you tried formatting and repartitioning card?
I use sdformatter from web--does good job--settings are: Full Erase On and Size Adjustment On
Then repartition back in phone to 1gb 0 swap--that's what I use
Of course, back up sdcard tp pc first
Do you "eject" your phone from the PC before unmounting it?
I just press the unmount button on the phone and disconnect the cable I don't use the safe remove of window do you think is for that?

but i think Windows manage any USB storage device without keeping the cache too long by default. what's more he isn't writing anything onto the card but reading, so it shouldn't be a big problem.
yeah android read the card but it doesn't write anything....
can the problem is the darktremor?

That's your problem. You're yanking the card away from windows before it's done writing to it probably.
1) Eject from windows
2) Unmount in android
3) Unplug
I've had my android phone for over a year now and have only had one card go corrupt, but that was due to a buggy ass wifi teather app. I've never had a problem aside from that. However, I also never mount the sd card in windows. I just use Dropbox to transfer files back and forth, or for large files, I just copy over wifi via a lan share.
thanks...
to all...
there are discordant opinion about this who said that I have to first unmount then safe disconnect from Win and who said that I have first safe remove and then unmount...
I've try to format the 4gb microsd with gparted live but I have error over error "can't mount, cant format" and so on...
The 2gb microsd now work fine, I succefully format it now I have an ex3 partition and a fat32 with Darktremor...
There is no way to plug an android phone and trasfer file without mount sd?
of course there are. try adb push or adb pull...
Is the card a class 10? I had class 6 clean from start to end but changed to a 32gb class 10 in the last 4 months and tonight was the second time filenames got messed up just by connecting to the PC. I connected, hit USB mount and a bunch of folder/file names were messed and stuff on the LOST.DIR.
Gonna get a new card tomorrow.
Hi guys, i know this has come up on here before and i've searched through all the threads but found only a lot of information which is of no use at all.
Ok heres the info on my phone:
HSPL 2.08
Task 29ned
2.15.50.14 Radio
CustomRUU
Magdlr
CWM and also tried TWRP
I've used windows format from recovery (usb mass storage) and also minitool partition starting with fat32 and 32kb sectors then ext3 partition but on mounting it only returns the following:
E: failed to mount /sdcard (Invalid Argument)
Error mounting /sdcard
so far tried fat32, ntfs, ext2, ext3 out of sheer desperation
Any help would be muchly appreciated but i'm assuming it might be the sdcard at fault i really don't know.
Thanks in advance.
Dan
Hi Dan
In minitool, did you set the primary/logical box to primary?
Why ext3?
Also what rom did you install, and what install method?

Thanks for your reply, yes both were set to primary, ext3 as that what lots of threads on here advised. Formatted to fat32 first. I can see it on my pc but can't mount it on the phone? Any ideas?
No rom on the phone yet as i can't get the zip files to be recognised as the sdcard can't mount so you can see my problem now.
Am now getting a new error message saying:
E: Unable to write to ums lunfile (No such file or directory)
Thanks
Dan
Hi Dan, best to start afresh with your card. Use this https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/ to format it to fat32, and see if it shows up then.
I don't know of any latest roms using ext3, most use an ext4 partition on the sd card
Anyway, report back

Ok i'm slowly getting somewhere, twrp didn't work, minitool didn't work, cwm didn't work so then i tried the new version of twrp and formatted it on the sdcard which can now mount sdcard on twrp.
The issue i'm having now is that adb doesn't list it under devices. I'm having to use adb sideload as because its been formatted on the phone it can't be seen on the pc? Not sure if thats as i don't have the hd2 drivers on the pc but its got hd2 toolkit installed. Either way i now don't have any way of installing from the rom zips I have.
Thanks
Dan
Hi Dan, I don't think Android Debug Bridge will work if you do not yet have android on your phone (unless it works from twrp). It seems you have magldr installed, can you use usb mass storage to transfer your rom to phone?
Also I do highly recommend using the sd formatter i linked to earlier, but i assume you do not have a card reader, hence doing all from phone.
Best of luck
I had this problem to fix
i installed everything then formatted card to fat32 using mini partition wizard and then did EXt4 and swap partition from Cwm Recovery and it worked just fine

Just incase anyone has the same problem i had with the never ending unable to mount sdcard problem.
What this turned out to be was cwm would format the card but only a certain area, then if you format with windows it will again only format a certain area that it see with its own file system. Then minitools would have a strange arrangement of differing file systems and changing this by usb connection through magdlr kept creating these problems.
I was trying to use adb to connect the phone to the pc through usb drivers but in the end it simply wasn't worth the effort.
First I went over cwm with the latest version of twrp.
Then I went out to buy a new sdcard simply to get a sdcard to microsd card tool.
Reformat the sdcard (with minitool partition) once in the pc (using the microsd to sdcard tool) to fat32 or fat32 with an ext4 partition if yr doing nand and dataext. Both partitions need to be primary and make sure there are no other partitions on the card this may take a few goes as sometimes you get a random partition or I did anyway.
Then put your rom files on the sdcard using the pc.
Remove sdcard from pc and install in phone.
Boot phone into magldr and choose recovery and this will take you into twrp and simply choose install and find the rom file you want to install.
Don't worry if you have any problems in the rom install you can always go back into twrp and wipe the system which is the rom.
Hope that helps anyone who was experiencing the same issues.
Alternate workaround
I had the same problem others have above. I wound up using a different workaround, and was able to do it with just the phone, a USB cable, and a Windows 7 PC. No SD adapter was needed and there was no need to remove the microSD card from the phone.
I took a stock WinMo 6.5 TMOUS HD2, installed Black LK and TWRP and cleared everything (cache, etc.). Then I used Black LK (very similar to cLK) to re-partition the internal storage to accept my new Android ROM. All I needed at this point was to install the ROM. I tried to copy my Android ROM to a microSD card I had in another phone and then bring it over, but TWRP was unable to read the card. It also couldn't mount the card via USB.
I was able to use TWRP to format the microSD. Then TWRP was able to USB Mount the microSD, but when my PC dectected it, I received a popup indicating that I needed to format the SD before Windows could use it. I said "yes", and allowed Windows to format the card as one big FAT32 partition. It took a few minutes, during which I was a little nervous as there was no progress meter or anything else on either the phone or the PC to indicate it was working. But once it finished, Windows was finally able to access the microSD card and copy the .zip file for the ROM. Once that was complete, I told Windows to eject the microSD, then un-mounted it in TWRP. And, finally, TWRP was able to see the ROM file and install it to NAND from the microSD.
Anyway, thought I'd post it up in case anybody else runs into this and doesn't have a card reader or adapter.
Hi,
I've recently formated my SD card from NTFS to EXT4 format, since, neither my pc or phone can detect it or re-format it.
My Note 3 is running CM11, and i've heard it should support EX4 format but it doesn't, i'm actually trying different ROM's to try to detect my SD card but since i've started, none has worked.
do you guys have any clue to help me?
Check whether shows up in Device Manager in Windows. Never looks like a problem with ROM

It shouldn't be a Rom problem nor Kernel.
Something must be wrong with your sdCard.
Because my Note 3 N9005 detects exFat, Ntfs, Ufs, ext4 and few other format (*After Rooting*) hard drive without any issues.
I am on Stock kernel and Stock recovery.

Note 3 support Ext4 format for internal partitions only, not for the external sdcard.
Remove your card from the phone and insert it directly to the PC (via Card Reader/Adapter) to reformat it.
The problem is that the SD Card have always worked for now more than a year, using the ExFat FileSystem.
i can't reformat it because windows don't detect it since it's ext4 FileSystem and my linux or Gparted live don't detect it as well. i'm using an external card reader (cheap i recognize it) but it has always worked as well and still work with another SD card or PSP card.
have to say i feel pretty ****ed up since i had my SD card full and my internal memory too all the time :crying:
-------------------------------------
i'm actually using S5 base / Note 4 style Tweaked ROM DEODEXED and it has detected my SD card, the problem is that it is detected as a 0,00 octet card and it can't be formatted, tried the command format with terminal but it isn't available on android.
Hi just a little up so we can remember me after holydays :fingers-crossed:
Did you try changing the filesystem in TWRP recovery?
(Sorry for my bad english[emoji14])
Hello, i bought a new sdcard just yersteday. Right a hour ago, i've plugged it in my P8Lite and it was working well. Then i decided to create another partition(ext4) to link my obb app files with Link2sd in my sdcard via pc. Everything gone well but when i've put it in, my phone told me that the sdcard is broken and i need to restore it. When i try to restore, it fails and shows me this message:
" 'command 118 volume unmount public:179:129' failed with '400 118 command failed' "
I've tried to restore it with my pc, change file system to: ext2-3-4, FAT and exFAT, i've tried to wipe it but still nothing. My pc detects my sd (cause i've an adaptator for pc) and i can put files in, but with my phone i can't do nothing. Does anyone have this problem too? Thanks to anyone that wants to help me.
My phone specs:
P8Lite B564 with root and xposed
The problem is that you need to format the SD Card to FAT32. The other problem is that windows natively only gives you the format to FAT32 option on 32GB sizes and lower. What you have to do is download a FAT32 formatter and put your sd card in your pc using the adapter and format it completely to FAT32. Good luck hope I was able to help you
