I'm pretty bored of this problem...
a week ago I've found my sd card sand disk 4Gb class 4 corrupted when I found that everytime I take a photo, I found it corrupted when the phone is connected with PC and sd mouted...
so I take a sand disk 2Gb that I have had on a camera and I use it...
Today, again the same problem
2 sd card corrupted with no way to format it...
I always us CM7 (RC 7.1 when I had the 4Gb card and nightly now)...
Is the phone broken? or I have to do something...I've notice that this problem is very common, but I don't understand if is an hardware problem or software, kernel...
I also have Darktremor installed...if can help...
thanks for any advice
Have you tried formatting and repartitioning card?
I use sdformatter from web--does good job--settings are: Full Erase On and Size Adjustment On
Then repartition back in phone to 1gb 0 swap--that's what I use
Of course, back up sdcard tp pc first
Do you "eject" your phone from the PC before unmounting it?
I just press the unmount button on the phone and disconnect the cable I don't use the safe remove of window do you think is for that?

but i think Windows manage any USB storage device without keeping the cache too long by default. what's more he isn't writing anything onto the card but reading, so it shouldn't be a big problem.
yeah android read the card but it doesn't write anything....
can the problem is the darktremor?

That's your problem. You're yanking the card away from windows before it's done writing to it probably.
1) Eject from windows
2) Unmount in android
3) Unplug
I've had my android phone for over a year now and have only had one card go corrupt, but that was due to a buggy ass wifi teather app. I've never had a problem aside from that. However, I also never mount the sd card in windows. I just use Dropbox to transfer files back and forth, or for large files, I just copy over wifi via a lan share.
thanks...
to all...
there are discordant opinion about this who said that I have to first unmount then safe disconnect from Win and who said that I have first safe remove and then unmount...
I've try to format the 4gb microsd with gparted live but I have error over error "can't mount, cant format" and so on...
The 2gb microsd now work fine, I succefully format it now I have an ex3 partition and a fat32 with Darktremor...
There is no way to plug an android phone and trasfer file without mount sd?
of course there are. try adb push or adb pull...
Is the card a class 10? I had class 6 clean from start to end but changed to a 32gb class 10 in the last 4 months and tonight was the second time filenames got messed up just by connecting to the PC. I connected, hit USB mount and a bunch of folder/file names were messed and stuff on the LOST.DIR.
Gonna get a new card tomorrow.

Ok, so i'm new around here. I read up on how you go about rooting your g1. I'm stuck on the first step lol
When i plug in my g1 with the usb, i go on to the notification bar and tap mount. From there i can drag and drop files and everything.
But when right click on it and click format, g1 automatically unmounts it self and i get a message that says theres no disk in drive G. I'v tried this several times.
I did go into g1's settings and formatted it from there, but i realized it wasn't to FAT32.
I have 32 bit vista. I'm not sure if it requires "special" drivers for the g1.
I downloaded paragon partition manager but didn't know how to use it lol
Any help?
Look at the steps for formating it from the phone (not sure if you need root first, but you at least need a terminal emulator) or take the mSD card out and format it from the computer. Why do you want to format the drive again, it sounds like it's formated. Just root the phone, flash a new rom, put cyan's recovery image on, and format with parted.
i did format it, but when i connect it to my computer, it comes up as FAT and not FAT32
I thought i was supposed to have FAT32 to continue the rooting process
BTW i just bought a card reader and i'll see if that does the trick, will keep u updated
Card reader works
I had the same problem but the card reader method fixed it.
Goog probably pushed this "fix" with cupcake ... not sure. Also maybe it would work better with XP or Linux?
Hi guys. I got a problem with my SD card after I recorded a video on my Nexus One (rom from Paul for very first Froyo over my rooted Nexus). I tried to to mount the SD card to my computer, but after clicking on the mounting button, the card appeared to have something wrong and displayed the warning message "SD Card blank or has unsupported filesystem". I could not access to the data on the card. I cared about my data so I tried to get the card out and used a card reader to read the content of the card from my Windows machine, but it seemed that Windows could not recognized the card. I thought the card was spoiled. I tried to save the card anyhow by trying to format it since I had the backup data on my computer already. Because I could not see the card on my Windows, I could not format it. I tried to format it on my N1, but after clicking on the format button, nothing happened. It seemed that my SD card was really spoiled.
But actually, I found a way that could help to save the SD card for my case. My solution is to try to partition the SD card using the ultility from my Recover section (I am using RA for nexus 1.7.0). The card after partitioning seems to work ok again. So I think the problem for my case is that the recording application already overwrote some data to the partition table on the card and that made my card inaccessible. Partioning the card again will help in this case but about the existing data on the card, I am not quite sure if it is still there. For my case, it's all gone.
Just a little experience to share ...
Hope this solution helps! Am doing the recovery thing now...

You can try to partition your card on an Android phone with RA 1.7.0 (or newer) installed. You can have a look at following page which is about RA for nexus v1.9.0 alpha:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611829
Good luck.
thanks man !
will give it a try... i first have to figure out how to get my phone into recovery mode. the three button method does not work for me.

whoa whoa if you have a galaxy s, do NOT flash the one he linked to. that is for the nexus one only. if you need to partition in windows, try plugging in the card to a reader and opening disk management (type "disk management" w/o quotes after pressing the windows key)
right click the card and hit format
Check your data before formatting it may not be corrupt
I had the same problem, rather than format the card straight away, I mounted it in ra recovery so that it was accessible over usb, then copied off all my data before formatting the card.
in a sudden my x10 cant detect my SD card, it show a messege saying that " damage SD card".
i cant access to the file in my card reader or my PC, but however, when i check it in MiniTool Partition Wizard, i can see my SD card contect.
how can i restore the card content so that i make a copy to my PC?
Have you reformatted it and tried?

Windows 7 has a repair disk option that worked for me when I damaged my SD card during rooting.

ok, will get to it when i back home, now at office which uses vista.
Just reboot the phone, it always work for me.
Unmount the sd card from settings, turn off your phone, take out the battery and sd card then put them all back, turn on. It works for me
Alternatively you can try a media card reader and copy all the data off it. It may or may not work depending how damaged it is. If it is damaged that is.
You should make sure the card is unmounted before you turn off USB connectivity. That can cause this.
It will try to repair it however, somtimes it is unsuccessful.
Just take mine as the last option you can think.
Get some partition stuff, Acronis DiskDirector works well, I used a lot with damaged server harddisk.
Just DELETE it. (not wipe!)
and Recover it. If it was about master record fails which it's likely, it should be recovered in a few sec.
If it still not work, then grab some undelete, file recovery to recover your remaining stuff. I don't suggest it anyway though someone claim that it worked well, since those raw-based recovery only work with some general file. (doc, excel, blah blah)
Every time I connect my Rooted Nook Simple Touch to my laptop to transfer books, I get the blue screen. I then shut down the computer and restart it. When I re connect the Nook, everything works just fine. However, I do get the pop up that says whether I want to scan and fix the memory card in Nook.
Does anyone know whats wrong here? I am now afraid to connect my Nook to my computer fearing that it may crash it.
Almost the same thing happened to me once, perhaps the issue is with your micro sd card.
I would suggest you try to backup and format your micro sd, might be corrupt or something. Worth a shot.

You connect your micro sd to your computer from an adapter (NOT YOUR NOOK) and you format with a program like sdformatter or the default windows formatter.
You WILL lose all data from your micro sd, but not the root. Therefore try backing it up first and recopying the things you really need.
Hi,
I want to format a micro sd card initially formatted with the and used on my Axon 7. Using the smartphone "application", the sd card disappears when it reaches the 20%. If I try to remove the sd from the smartphone and format with my computer (I try with gparted on ubuntu and with build-in + EaseUs window applications), my computer returns an error (impossible to complete the operation, etc.).
Anyway, the micro SD works correctly. I can read, write, and delete files on it without any problem.
Did the same thing happen to you too? Have you a solution?

You sure you can write to all of it? SD cards become read-only after a bunch of write ops. Hapoened to me on 2 SD cards already. When you try to format it, it'll just return an error or stall somewhere
