I've recently sold my 7.7, which was working and now the buyer told me that after a couple of days it stopped working. He presses the power button and it won´t turn on and when he plugs the tablet into the outlet the battery charging icon won´t show up. Nothing like this ever happened to it while I was using it so I´m finding it very very weird....but I´m trying to be a nice guy and help the guy out anyway.
Any thoughts on what this might be or how can I fix it?
Never mind....the buyer just called me to let me know that he did a factory reset and it started working again...I´m not sure how he did the factory reset though, if the tablet wasn´t powering on...anyway, I did my good deed.
How in the world he did a factory reset when it wont power on??? Hmmm......lol

hi guys,
yesterday, i turned on my nexus one, after not being use for a week. i turned on the nexus one normally, waiting until finish booting. i browsing the menu, looking for application, i open google voice, it decline to open, tap google voice icon for one more time, still can't. i push the sleep button. turned on it again. slide to unlock it, and it freeze. waiting around for 30 seconds still freeze, nothing happen when i try to turn it off. reinsert the battery. now it didn't respond anything, try boot to recovery mode, no respond, plug in the charger, no any light. today i try to turn on the nexus one, still no respond.
i'm in malaysia, so there is no official support to claim the warranty. and i already unlock the bootloader, so warranty already voided. Good bye nexus one, may be i will never bye an android phone anymore. it is the best phone i ever had in my life, i know exactly why google call it "Superphone". it really deserve that name. PS: i still couldn't believe i make my own nexus one broke by my self.
Good bye nexus one. good bye xda-developers. good bye cyanogen.
Aww, dont do that
It sounds like you have a dead battery, the phone cant boot without a battery. You can buy OEM batteries onine at multiple online sources.
Seriously, Perhaps try to factory reset the phone before giving up after 5 seconds.
will you send it to me if i pay for the shipping, my son dropped mine today and destroyed the screen. would be a great help. thanks, veritasaequita
OMG.. stop crying the minute something is wrong. Try to solve it...
HTC will replace your phone even if you unlocked the bootloader if the hardware died so just call them and explain..
You could try the factory reset before that.

yea HTC has been well known to do this. i was gonna tell you to boot into recovery but i just read that you cant. you should maybe try to factory reset.
you can also try to get a new battery like others said
can you plug it by usb to your computer? maybe you should try wiping through ADB
still no respond by doing factory reset.
is i completely dead?
Mine wouldnt power on, it only started flashing a yeallow and green light when i triede powering on.
What i had to do to get it to boot, was remove battery, hold power button for 10-15sec put battery back in, connect the phone to a wall charger, wait 30 minutes, and then it powerd on no problem, ive had this isse 3 times now, and it seems to bring it back to life everytime.
I've had my since last Saturday from Bestbuy and today after downloading Taptu from the market it froze my tablet. I rebooted and when it came back up it was still sluggish. I rebooted again and now I'm stuck on the android logo and won't go any further. Does anyone know how to do a factory reset? This is really annoying me since I haven't done any mods to this tablet. I'm coming from a viewsonig G tablet that I had rooted and overclocked to 1.5ghz. I thought I would give it a few weeks before I rooted this device.
Just a quick update, I'm chatting with Acer support right now. Hopefully they can tell me how to do a factory reset so I can return this tablet. Very disappointed at this point.
OMG this support person has no clue what device this is. This is how they want me to do a factory reset:
Prajesh Jena: Okay.
Prajesh Jena: Well ****, the cause for the issue you are experiencing is might be due to static electricity. The battery issue occurs when one of the cells in the battery fails to hold charge properly.
Prajesh Jena: The static current remains in the battery sometimes due to which it does not allow the battery to get charged up. Hence, I will provide you the power drain steps.
Prajesh Jena: 1. Turn off the notebook and unplug the power cord.
2. Disconnect all external devices.
3. Remove the battery.
4. Press and hold the power button for 10 to 15 seconds.
5. Plug the power cord back into the computer and press the power button.
6. Check the front panel LEDs (lights) on the bezel (front face) or optical drive and check if you hear the internal fan.
7. If computer boots up, turn it off.
8. Reconnect any external devices.
9. Restart the computer.
Prajesh Jena: Please perform the steps and let me know the result.
Lol, just take it in for an exchange.

Yes that's how their support is. Although that's really bad because they're supposed to know what you have when you put your serial number or snid in and that rep. seems to think you have a notebook.
This is straight out of the Acer A500 manual so I hope it works for you:
Resetting your tablet
You may have to perform a reset if your tablet fails to respond when buttons are pressed or the screen is tapped.
To reset your tablet use a small thin object (such as a paperclip) to press the recessed reset button.
If that works then you can do the factory reset as you should probably know by now, Settings->Privacy->Factory Reset.

I tried the reset instructions prior to posting this thread but it didn't really do anything but reboot the tablet. It was still stuck on the android logo screen. I ended up going back to Bestbuy and trading it in for the Xoom. I really, really liked the A500 but this put a scare in me. I would understand if I borked the tablet by rooting or modding it, but it was stock. Oh well, lesson learned.
I'm having the same issue except mine is loading past the android screen to the unlock screen but i get no response from the display and once i hit the power button it won't turn back on unless i hit the reset button and it sucks because best buy is sold out right now so i can't exchange the device which sucks A** I'd have to wait 2 weeks to get another one if i could get the factory i could restore it but no luck finding that so i have a brick that looks shiny
hi
today I've got an update warning
I tryed to update but now, after 3,5 hours it's still updating!(Now I've got a picture of little android man and the warning symbol)
power button doesn't work
wut to do?
_________
my 3G/Wifi xoom is rooted
Soft Reset for Fozen Xooms:
To reset your Xoom when the screen is totally unresponsive, press the power and volume up buttons at the same time for about three seconds. The two buttons are right next to each other on the back and side of your Xoom. This is a soft reset. It's the equivalent of yanking the batteries or totally powering the device off. Once your Xoom powers back up, it will still have all your software and preferences. It just (hopefully) won't be frozen anymore.
Found this on google, maybe it works?
No
I tryed but it doesn't help
I've just made hard reset
Thx for help

So what about 3.1 version?
It won't update if device is rooted?
Do I really have to buy host USB cable or we would have better sollution?

I purchased 4 - Razr M's for Verizon Wireless. 3 of them are working perfectly, but when trying to activate one of them, it would not stay on during the activation process. It would shutdown to a black screen or stuck on the boot animation and won't power up without having to do a hard reboot(Power/vol down, is what I did)
After multiple tries, it finally stayed on long enough to activate. I then let it sit on a charger, after about an hour, I found that it was stuck on a black screen. I have to hold power/vol down until it rebooted. I've only had the phone for 12 hours now, I'll keep an eye on it tomorrow, but in the mean time thought I'd do some research here.
I tried re-seating the sim card already, and confirmed that the software is up to date. The battery has never been below 50% when I've experienced these issues.
Has anyone else seen this behavior from their RAZR M?
I'm hoping this is a software glitch as I would not like have to send the phone back.
Any input would be much appreciated.
Have you tried a factory reset yet?
I had this problem with a different phone that i had received as a warranty replacement.
It's a hardware problem you can't fix... return or exchange if you can.

I have tried the factory reset, that didn't fix the issue. After charging overnight, I found the phone in an off state and could not turn it on, trying down/power, as well as other button combinations.
I gave up on trying to fix it on my end, called the seller for an RMA, it's now on a fedex truck back to the seller, now waiting for the replacement to come.
Thanks anyway for your help.
Okay about two weeks ago I updated to 4.4.2 from 4.2.2(I think that's the one?) on my s4 and I've hated the update. I decided to root my phone using muniz method and it worked perfectly. I even changed to the nc1.
So, after using my phone without issues for two weeks roughly I noticed last night it started to randomly turn off while texting. It would just auto restart but it happened every 5-10 minutes. After an hour it started happening more often so I plugged my phone in. Now my phone will not even turn on. When I insert the battery the samsung start screen appears for about a second and then goes black. I have to pull out the battery for the phone to do ANYTHING. If the phone is plugged in while trying this and I insert the battery I literately get NOTHING. No samsung screen or anything.
Things I've tried.
Swapped the battery.
boot into odin
boot into safemode
plugged it in while trying to boot
Swapped the usb cord
taken out sim card
Some things to note is that I did not install any new app before this had happened. It was working the same for about two weeks with no issues.
When plugging in my phone to charge or anything I never get an led light at the top of my phone.
I seriously need some help with this. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Are you plugging it in to the stock wall charger? Your best bet is to get it to boot into download mode long enough to reflash NB1.

Yeah using stock wall charger from a wall, computer, and even a different charger.
Is download mode the one where you hold vol down + power + home?
If so it brings up the screen that asks you to press the volume up but it dies before it can ever make it to the downloading screen...

Experiment and see if you can get it to stay there. If not, you may need to try a best buy if you can.

Thanks, i'll keep playing with it but so far it just shuts off instantly in about a second or two.
If I bring it to best buy and they take it or anywhere else will I be shunned for rooting my phone?

If it won't start they won't know it's rooted. They'll try to flash the firmware which will remove root if they're successful, so again they won't know

That would be fantastic! If I purshased it at walmart would it matter if I take it to best buy for example? I'm sure a corporate AT&T store could do the same correct?

I couldn't do factory reset because the phone wouldn't stay on long enough to do ANYTHING.
So as an update to this...
I was on my way to the closest store with samsung experience which is about an hour away from me and when I almost get there my phone RANDOMLY turns on...
I couldn't be more pissed and happy at the same time. So, obviously I try messing with it a bit and it shuts off again. This time I can get it to turn on after about 15 tries. Long enough for me to do a factory reset!
It lasted a good 30 minutes to an hour and it shut off again.
Hardware issue or is anyone else having this issue with 4.4.2 nc1?
No I haven't on mine you all have to bring it in for repair

Okay so I brought it by best buy and the guys couldn't flash it or do anything to it because it wouldn't turn on at all. They tried several batteries etc.
So, I decided to try the phone doctors and the guy thought it could be a malfunction in the power button because the phone tries to boot up any time you put the battery in. You don't have to hit any buttons and you can't insert the battery without it trying to power on.
I'll cross my fingers that's the problem and they phone doctor guy told me he has never seen this issue with an s4 but it was really common in s3's.
I go back in two hours to see if they have fixed it!

The s2 had this problem too and one way to confirm it was to pull the battery and put it back in. If it booted right away it was the power button. So it sounds like you're on to something.

Well, I was really hoping for the best and I thought they really had my problem figured out. When I got back to the store they told me they basically checked and rewired everything they could and it was still doing this. They told me they can't fix it and didn't charge me anything.

I would but they don't accept anything past a year. If it ever boots up again I'm going to install a different rom and just cross fingers
I've been informed my phone might still be under factory warranty. Just out of speculation, if you root your phone and it ends up malfunctioning what would they do if you send it in for warranty? I'm not sure if my issue is hardware or software related at all.
