Look how the stepping .. I think an option which starts at 100MHz and limit at 1300MHz would greatly improve the battery..

Would it save that much, performing tasks would take longer so the proffit of a lower clockspeed is undone by a longer period of performance!

Battery savings would be negligible at best.
Race to idle is the most important thing, the faster a job gets done, the faster the CPU can go back to idle.

Whats the status of kernels right now ? I honestly don't want to deal with the no wifi etc crap anymore.. I prepare something that works perfectly.
Eh? No wifi? What sort of kernel would that be?
Wifi works on all the kernels. Samsung released the kernel source code so everything works, but better.

A lot of people is suffering from wifi randomly disconnecting.very annoying.disabling wifi powersafe helpa little bit.but has be enabled on every reboot be cause it doesn't stick.
Nothing to do with kernel if its stock or custom.some users say changing from wpa2 to wpa and vise versa.

Hey all,
Just wanted to show you how great the Nexus S is!! "img.tapatalk.com/5658d096-434f-704f.jpg" (just copy everything between " " to your toolbar) its running at a stunning 1.6gHz!!! It became a bit too overclocked sometimes, so I stepped back to 1.3gHz... not bad either, but still less. Show how far you can push your Nexus S (4G) in this thread by posting a screenshot that shows on how much gHz you Nexus S can run.
IF YOUR PHONE ISNT WORKING ANYMORE, BECAUSE YOU PUSHED IT TOO FAR. ITS YOUR OWN MISTAKE. IF YOU POINT AT ME BECAUSE YOU THINK ITS MY FAULT... I WILL BE LAUGHING AT YOU.

but 1.6ghz ran stable, just battery life was terrible

removed becasue CPU not score comparison
cpu speed isnt everything. after a certain cpu speed, benchmarks will start getting lower/worse. performance overall will become worse if the cpu speed is set to high. personally, my phones sweetspot is between 1.44 and 1.54ghz. above that, performance starts to drop.

are you lowering your FSB to achieve higher speeds? dont see overall system slowdown unless you are down clocking your FSB to achieve higher CPU speeds? i mean his CPU is allot higher than mine
IDK im more familiar with desktop CPU not mobile think i might get what you're saying maybe an overheat issue and downclcok for protection..idk

I agree.
And if your phone is getter hot. I'm very sure it is. Then you could be damaging it and that could greatly decrease the life spand of your internal components

very funny... tried to OC up to 1540Mhz... the phone start to vibrate (like a female friend) and freezed.... now rebooted... never play again with so high OC
Hey everyone,
I have a Nexus 4 with a really good chip.I can o/c up to 1836Mhz without any problems. I want to get better benchmarks, and I don't mind taking the risk of blowing my phone up. Which kernel would be best for such use? I don't want to start a flame war or anything, just some personal opinions.
I'm using trinity right now soon stock ROM. I only get like 18400 on antutu in the freezer. I want to increase this. Any advice?
people did blow up their phones by doing that. and i have no idea what youre trying to gain, it sounds absolutely crazy to be honest. and 18400 is not high for anututu anyway. i get 18629 without freezing and overclocking - not that it means anything, dont even know why i tried this....

I know they mean very little, but my friend with a galaxy note 2 over clocked and got a score of 20k, and I just want to shut him up, cause he keeps rubbing it in my face.
Do you happen to know anyway I can boost benchmarks?

several prople in this forum killed their nexus4 for good, hardbricked by stressing it to death. benchmarks mean nothing, enjoy your phone man.
So you want to compare dicks?
Show him the raw power if you care about the hardware.
Also, why would you care about benchmarks? Just show him that your phone runs better.

My phone: Nexus 4 16GB
ROM: Stock 4.2.2
Kernel: franco kernel M2
-----------------------------------------
One of my CPU core is always running at 100% usage!
And the entire phone is very very hot even if I switch the screen off !
This is what I've seen:
<fig.1>
In System Monitor Lite:
I closed all apps, but CPU core 2(CPU1) is still keep running at 100%

But I cannot see any active app in System Monitor Lite.
<fig.3>
In OS Monitor, it shows that it's cause by System(PPID:0).
If I reboot my phone now, I can let my CPU back to normal.
But it will happen again in the future! (This is the third time.)
So I want to figure out what happened!
Can anyone help?
Thanks so much!

I can't try [email protected]@...because it had a reboot...so CPU goes normal now...
But I think it would not solve the problem, there's still something(System) running in the background.
Tune the governor only affect the CPU frequency and how fast it process the dumb program.
My hypothesis.
I've been on CM for a while now, and had a week back on TW, where i noticed the battery life to be four times better, so i'm wondering if theres a way to archive just half as good battery performance on an AOSP rom? that would really be wonderful.

Yeah the profile feature really is a lifesaver. My Note can last the last 10% on standby overnight, and when I wake up I can continue charging.
Anyone done a Pi bench on their S6? I imagine several others Pi scores will beat my 6. 30 seconds.
Use AGM + FFT Formula, test 1000000 digits, and post your fastest time.

Nice one kurczak94! However...
I just did another run. I believe this is going to be the fastest that the test will do on my phone.
edit: oh, nope, I'm wrong! I just did another faster test which I'll post in a bit. How are you guys getting the full length of the result screen showing in your screenshots? I have to scroll down to show the time and that cuts off the top saying 'Intitialising... '

You probably will, I'm getting nothing faster than 6. 19 at the moment. Good score, you've matched me.
Not sure if this is considered cheating, but I'm running the Sac23 ROM and Ktoonsez kernel on my Sprint S6. I didn't expect to get a higher score cause I haven't adjusted kernel at all. I might try some over clocking and run it again later.

Let's see what others say about it, but imo, it's legit because you've simply managed to get the phone tweaked to run faster. Excellent time! :good:
Pro tip for everyone: Power off the phone and let it cool right down before running the bench to obtain the best scores. Example, when I ran Pi just a moment ago after just finishing running antutu, my Pi was over 8 seconds.
After many attempts yesterday and today of running the test consecutively, I just this moment got a freak 6. 17 seconds.
Edit: skip that, just improved again. 6. 16 secs. Blimey.
