Hey guys with all the quadrant scores being posted everywhere, I haven't seen a topic dedicated to these alone. So that's what this thread is for. Here are the rules:
Rule 1: when you post a quadrant please tell everyone what Rom/Kernel you are running so if anyone wishes to follow your steps they may do so.
Rule 2: Please merge your posts if your going to post one after another or simply edit your post and update it to maintain order.
That's it. Thanks guys and here is my quadrant. AOKP 40.1 devil .97 with v6 super charger and kak

Hey azuma how did you get your CPU so high? Also I need you to test something for me. Antutu tels me I'm pulling over 3200 in a quad. But quad pro tells me just over 2600. I'm unsure which to believe
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
I believe antutu runs more tests than quadrant, therefore showing a higher score, but I could be mistaken?
My phone IS fast and stable, but now I think I need to work on better battery!?

Dim your screen. Go to (I think development) and put a chexk in kill background processes and leave no programs running. I also use toolbox pro to freeze apps that continuously run and use the mobile web version of them.

Seems like you started this thread so we could show off each of our own tweaks and roms. I came here for a little advice too. That way I could see some big performance increases to my phone.
(first screen capture)
old rom: AOKP 40
old kernel: devil .79
old CPU governor: smartassv2
min-max frequency: 200-1400
(second screen capture)
Current rom: AOKP 40
Current kernel: devil .79
Current CPU governor: conservative
min-max frequency: 100-1400
I was curious I used the ROM setting built into the AOKP rom to set the cpu frequency, but should i use devil kernel config or manager or nstools. or is that just for live OC? My cpu frequency is set at boot. My quadrant scores are pretty low. Any tips for a noob?

Yeak I got a couple for ya.
Go to settings, Developer settings, then put a check mark in Force GPU Rendering Make sure the Max CPU is 1400 low is 100 Governer I have set to conservative, ZRam is set for 100mb. Try those settings and reboot before you test again

Ok I believe the Force GPU rendering definitely made the biggest difference. My 2d and 3d scores jumped up. I updated my post. For some reason in the ROM controls it took a couple tries for the new cpu and governor settings to stick after reboot.

MunkyDrunky that still seems a little low considering what everyone else is pulling. Try this as well. And I'll include the files from my phone when I get to my computer with instructions.
Get if not already had toolbox
And go to performance and SD card boost. Change the value to 2480 (I think it is. It will give you a preferred high set)
Go to app manager and freeze any constantly running services that you would normally use such as yahoo mail Facebook etc. And use the mobile web versions to help save ram. I'll include v6, 3G, and a few other files you'll need as well.
After the SD boost and app freeze reboot phone into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik. Then reboot and try your test again.

Ok Ive used Rom toolbox when I was using the Gummy rom. Would I still use devil kernel config or manager for the cpu and ram free value changes? How do I make sure the changes will always stick, ive had trouble with that after reboot.

i recently rooted my wildfire and have installed cyanogenmod 7.0.3 and wanted to double check something, ive been looking around threads and these overclocking guides and i saw that one of them said you only need a kernel with the ability to overclock if you are on stock rom, otherwise you can install setcpu straight away and overclock, could someone please just clarify this, thanks
Cm7 has overclock built in so no need for additional kernal or setcpu app
Go to Settings > Cyanogenmod settings > performance > CPU settings
It's basically setcpu built in

so does this mean it wont affect battery too much as it will automatically reduce the speed and increase it when required, also what speeds would you recommend for min and max?

Yeah, as far as I know it caps min setting to 352 when idle/sleep even if you have yours min set higher than that. It then uses required CPU up to your Max depending on what processes are taking place.
Overclocking will effect battery life if you push it to far. I currently have mine set at 352/691 and it works for me giving speed and battery life.
Experiment your own tho

QUADRANT IS NOT A GOOD BENCHMARKING TOOL.

Quit using Quadrant it is easily duped. Your scores can be increased easily in quadrant. You might even be able to follow the video and get better scores, so that way it will make you feel better.
Why is everyone so offended by the fact that this guy just wants answers on how to improve his benchmark?
Who cares if you find no value in it, he does.
Answer his questions and move on or ignore the thread.
I'm first going to reiterate what everyone else has said... don't worry about Quadrant, or benchmarks or any of that.
with that out of the way, the absolute best I've ever achieved is when I first got my phone and was pushing for high Quadrant numbers, and I was on an AOSP Rom and installed CM Turbo Kernel, like... 6. something, and I turned the "Turbo" feature on. got like 1850 after a few attempts. that's the absolute best, and it wasn't stable. was running 1190, on Hardware 002, which my phone did NOT like. I get about 900 now and I'm happy because my phone is usable for a full day!

Running a different kernel isn't the issue. Having the min clockspeed set low and running a benchmark that doesn't tax the phone enough for it to ramp up the clockspeed is the issue. Set the min and Max to 998 or more then run the benchmark.

Just trial and error. I would start at 1.2ghz on stepping 5 and increase by 50mhz being sure to thoroughly test each clock rate.
Do NOT use the set on boot option until you are sure it is stable.

I ended up testing/benchmarking in 25mhz increments. I know it was a bit more time consuming, but I found that my NC could handle 1275 while using multimedia intensive apps, but a friend could get his up to 1325 running benchmarks and not rebooting.
I think we got in one or two runs at 1350, but it definitely wasn't stable. Broke 4200 in quadrant, for whatever that's worth.
I have it set at 1300 and performance and get 2582 how do you get 4200?

This was a fresh install with no other background tasks running. All we did was get the CM7 ROM loaded, OC Kernel and gapps.
I'll get some screenshots of his quad scores when he gets back from helping a buddy move. I think we took screenshots of everything 1250+. I might try getting a full reload working and see if I can break that barrier.
I'm running 1325 and the best score I can get is high 3100s.
Can you guys tell me what settings you have under performance menu?
Sent from my NookColor using XDA Premium App
I got similar scores to them and I used the default settings In performance... I think its a matrer of what you have installed and your device. Also don't worry about quadrant scores they are not that important. If your nook runs smooth what does it matter?
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk
Each machine will have to be trial and error. Different device..even same hardware are really all different to one degree or another....example...I have 2 nooks..both running the same version of cm..and kernel...my second one never gets past 3200 on quadrant...go figure...same exact software running on both.
I did this test with benchmarks back to back on higher cpu frequencies, and i ended up with 1325 being the highest stable i could go. Very low 3000's for benchmarks in quadrent which dont mean anything of course, but there ya go. Runs like a champ.
Sorry for the ignorant reply...but what will overclocking actually do? I have a NC with a dual boot CM7 SDcard. Didn't do it, bought it from Jonathan on Ebay, works great!
I started this thread because i want to be able to use Sparksco kernel v14 but it freezes when its set to 1.0GHZ I been running v10 as my daily kernel and its bottomline on my top list of kernels. Any help will be much appreciated, im on the latest nightly CM255, i had to revert back to v10 because i need speed to check emails and surf the internet...If theres another update for the V14 in the future i hope that can be a fix or its probably my setup that prevents me from reaching any higher speeds, overall Sparksco you the man!!! By the way ICS devs yall get mad props peace...
I use sparks v14 kernel on cm nightly 255 clocked right under 1ghz using smartass governer no problem. I did a full wipe of everything, and formatted system before install of everything of course. Kernel v14 is more geared for battery saving. I haven't updated the voltages yet because I'm not compiling gingerbread anymore, rather been working on getting a stable ICS rom build before I do more work on it. As soon as we get ICS gingerbread will be a thing of the past. Kernel v14 works good for some and v10 for others. I like v14 because of the battery I've been able to get on 122mhz min and 998mhz max. But if you up the min to the next highest setting (230mhz) you shouldn't get any lockups. Or even try 307mhz.
Edit: looks like 307mhz min is the only clock speed that allows me to overclock to 2ghz and not have any lockups. I'm also on cm nightly 255 pzguzman, and I always keep it on smartass governor.
P.S. The mods should be able to move this thread no problem without removing the comments or thread.

YOU'RE USING THE WRONG GOVERNOR MIN/MAX SETTINGS
For example:
IF I want to get 2ghz out of my phone I use the performance governor and use min/max of 2ghz.
OR:
I would use:
Gov: Smartass
Min CPU: 300mhz
Max CPU: 1.5ghz
You would freeze too if you were a CPU constantly going from 100mhz to 2000mhz all the time!

Smartass2 was made for the HTC Sensation which is a dual core gsm phone much like the Evo 3D (but cdma instead). I could never get it to clock passed 1.4ghz so I don't think it likes our phones much. It's a great concept but the normal old smartass still works much better for the shift.

Again, it depends on the governor and the min cpu. I ran scary stable at 1.9ghz for 24 hours+ straight, no lockups.
for the heck of it I ran it @ the min of like 1something hz for the low and 2.0 max just to see how it ran, and it was solid.

I tried out your Set CPU setup and it was kind of bad, because of the lagfree governor,i did some research and i found a thread explaing all governors and lagfree doesn't actually make your phone "Lag free" it saves battery by throttling it down to the minimum clock speed for a simple task but when it needs more juice it will throttle higher providing more performance, but it doesn't work well as i have had regular force closes with apps like FlipBoard, Falcon Pro and messaging (which force closed alot)
Thanks anyways for contributing

Awesome stuff man.
I decided to install Lupus Kernel (720p) and I failed so many times because ADB wasn't detecting my phone in fastboot and reason is because i use a mini usb hub (it connects into 1 hub and makes 5 hubs) so adb and fastboot dident have direct conntact with my phone and today i had a strange feeling and pluged it in to main usb port on my pc and it worked like a charm,i flashed lupus and i am enjoying it.
I think it is considerably faster that Doomkernel and smoother AND reliable,i used to get random force closes every now and then but now its super smooth and Touch screen response seems to be 100x better,
I also tried out your setup and shadowgun,Dead trigger(ULTRA GFX setting) and MC4 runs smooth at around 50 FPS
Glad I could help!
