And, a friendly suggestion, spend a little more than 20 seconds in Tapatalk the next time you decide to create a thread on XDA-Developers.com

Voice opinion requesting OFF-TOPIC for Epic here

After XDA mods have pushed another DEV away with the recent events on ptfmedic's Autism blog voting thread, in site of all the threads that have nothing to do with Epic. Tell them here that you want an off-topic thread!

+1 how about a community off topic forum eh mods?

I guess we need to be the first section other than general to get an off topic section. Our users are ridiculous.

I sent email earlier today for this exact request. As you can see I am not the only one that wants this!
Edit: I will hit thanks tomorrow ran out of thanks today.
I personally like this idea but I can see how it may get out of hand. Flagging thread for mod/admin review.

I agree, I do personally think you're correct.
I do also think its a fine idea for all phone forums going forward though.

Thank you. Anything to stop our users from complaining about everything.

we dont need an off topic within the epic section. we need a cage.
How many moderators do we have for the epic section? Is it just a had full of moderators for all areas of xda? Just seems like moderators are popping out of nowhere? Funny thing is haven't even heard of such people and posts are being closed left and right.

How about a Epic chit chat forum so they can throw all the threads in there....like this one.. I do not like seeing them. I want to see Epic threads.
All the vote for me...go click this..charity messages need to go. Everyone has issues whether it be physical, financial or whatever, nobodys life is perfect. If everyone decided to start a thread about their relatives sickness or some bill they got hit with this place would be 10 times the mess that it is now.
I am fine with the charity stuff in your signatures as they can be shut off.
I vote for immediate deletion of any threads that don't fall under the category named in the title of the forum - so if it isn't Epic related, it should be in another section. If it isn't smart phone related, it belongs on a completely different website.
As far as social topics, XDA has no need to compete with facebook/google+/etc...

This thread is redundant now that you have an off topic thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1176704

[off topic] the sgs offtopic thread!!

Alright, let's finally get all this off topic chatter out of development forums
Welcome to the place for us to hang out when we want to talk about things other than phones
This is posted in the SGS general because its intended for us to talk as an SGS community, not in the off topic forum
I think it would be best to keep personal things like where we go to work/school out of this, as this forum is a public place that anyone can see
Also try to keep things clean, as we have young people among us
Any SGS user is welcome here, don't be scared by anyone Australian, feel free to ask questions too
I'm thinking new topics every now and then, or we can just go where the thread takes us
Again, anyone is welcome, please feel welcome, and if you like, please contribute to the thread
But don't see it as a place to get over your 10 post barrier
If you are spamming to get your 10 posts, we will dob you in
So, what to talk out?

Not to sound like a d*ck but lets keep the Android Development section clean and only to threads that have to do with Development. There are already two entries on the same topic in the General Section, probably more by now.
Thanks for the link man, I can't wait till this gets merged into other roms!

Good answer @samoukos :good:
Thanks
We already have topics covering this. Additionally, this is the development section, no need to post this here!

Dude's got a point though. How annoying is it to read through a thread full of posts like "++1 10char"?
Agreed that this has nothing to do with wannabe hacking.

Who does he have to be?
Sure, there are useless posts/threads here, just like on most other forums, that's just the way it goes with forums and online communities. But how is creating YET ANOTHER useless thread going to solve that? If it annoys you that much, go vent somewhere else.

[request] to all

OP/Developers spend a tremendous amount of time helping us all.
What can we do for them?
1) Read the entire thread, from page one! Our questions are normally already answered in previously posted notes. By asking again just lengthens the thread, and delays the work in progress. And everyone else has to read your question (even though it was answered previously). Using the SEARCH tool in the forum, can reveal your answer quickly.
2. Showing appreciation for comments/mods/themes/ROMs/etc/ANYTHING that helped out, should be gratified by simply clicking the "THANK YOU". It is a common courtesy!
3. When to try someone's work & it helps you or you like it. DONATE to them! They have given hours of their private time developing. Plus, think about software costs at retail. Donating a few drinks to them will keep them motivated to develop even more!
Thank you for taking the time to READ this! I only hope you do 1,2,& 3.

You plan to spam the forum?
EDIT: you had to send a PM to a mod...
No. I was told. Q&A was not correct area.
So put it in General so I can delete from Q&A.

Agree in general, but you'll need to know that the search function on xda is no google. Half the time, it's better to search for something on xda by searching straight from google.
