[request] to all - Galaxy S III General

OP/Developers spend a tremendous amount of time helping us all.
What can we do for them?
1) Read the entire thread, from page one! Our questions are normally already answered in previously posted notes. By asking again just lengthens the thread, and delays the work in progress. And everyone else has to read your question (even though it was answered previously). Using the SEARCH tool in the forum, can reveal your answer quickly.
2. Showing appreciation for comments/mods/themes/ROMs/etc/ANYTHING that helped out, should be gratified by simply clicking the "THANK YOU". It is a common courtesy!
3. When to try someone's work & it helps you or you like it. DONATE to them! They have given hours of their private time developing. Plus, think about software costs at retail. Donating a few drinks to them will keep them motivated to develop even more!
Thank you for taking the time to READ this! I only hope you do 1,2,& 3.

Thank you!

Hi,
One thread is not enough??? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1938476&
You plan to spam the forum?
EDIT: you had to send a PM to a mod...

No. I was told. Q&A was not correct area.
So put it in General so I can delete from Q&A.

Agree in general, but you'll need to know that the search function on xda is no google. Half the time, it's better to search for something on xda by searching straight from google.

New to forum or have problems. Please read.

We need to figure out where to put this or bump it daily. Very good read.
Read Here.
good day.
Bumpity bump bump bump. Just trying to keep the development forum clean (even today there has been a couple misplaced threads). Keep the developers happy. If everyone is educated properly the development section will remain clean for upcoming froyo info and roms.
Quick tip: If your starting a thread in development that is a question. It probably doesn't belong there.
good day.

You are saying threads like " help im n recovery??!!!" Is t development? Learned something new;-p. Great post as always chop.

good day.
Great info. As someone new to the forum that was helpful. I always try to research before posting,(common sense) but I may have ended up asking questions in the development section thinking that would have been a great place to get an answer. I also triple checked what section this post was in so I was sure I wasn't thanking you for the information on what not to post in the Dev section by replying to a post in the dev section
Nice debar1 and welcome to the forum.
good day.
A little reminder.
Alright, but this post is a paradox by nature.
It belongs in development to warn would-be posters. If you are posting here anyway, you don't really need it.
It absolutely does not belong in development per order of itself.
But blah, consider this a bump.
Swyped w/ XDA App. When in doubt, mumble.

*News Flash* There is a QUESTION AND ANSWER FORUM.

6 months ago we were finally graced with a Q&A forum. But why the **** is "general" littered with [Q] threads? A total of 8 Q threads were started today in general. Congrats to the douchebags for creating more work for our mod with your misplaced threads and complete disregard for helping with keeping our forum organized. We should stop answering ALL questions that get posted in general so they get buried and forgotten about.
good day.

What's wrong with his language?
Instant satisfaction and disregard for the rules are the new opiate of the people.
God is dead. Long live mod-less XDA.
He wouldn't be our beloved ray of sunshine chopper if he edited for language. And to answer your question chopper, it's because too many people are basically ignorant and have no common sense or reading comprehension. How many people posted absolute gibberish and ZOMG I CAN'T WAIT posts in jt's CM7 thread despite the fact he asked on numerous occasions not to post crap like that in the thread?
RIF people - Reading Is Fundamental (emphasis on the mental part for all you window lickers)
chopper salute - Good day!
This here should be stickied and the thread should be remade 15 different times to take up the whole page, that way no one will miss this.

I agree, we have our personal way to explain our moods and ideas, but this is a forum. There are rules, ( the forum rules, the laws, the common sense....).
I agree, I we need to clean BOTH: crap with polite language AND good ideas with rude language. This will be done not only because of the rules, also to have a nice place were to discuss.
No warning, no infraction now, just edited the post

i've tried to help some folks with questions in the general section as well, mostly to try to keep the smarter people from having to answer redundant questions that can be found in the stickies...and stop them from possibly posting in the dev section!...a guy can dream right?! But I guess in doing so I have also helped feed the monster that has mashed the general, and q and a section into this mess...I too will no longer answer any questions not posted in the q and a section.

Slightly afraid to post anything containing a question mark in this thread, but I'll take my lumps if I have to. I just created a thread in General with the intent of starting a discussion / getting some opinions regarding a question I've been mulling over. I specifically decided against posting in Q&A since I was not seeking a specific "answer," so to speak. Was that wrong? Should I not have done that?

My rant was regarding "fascinate general forum". But where you did put your thread (xda/general) and the type of discussion you hope to have will achieve the most traffic and not be buried in a device specific forum.

No, he's not a hater, he's telling you to follow the rules. Three threads is just obnoxious.
And considering that you didn't give information about what rom you're running, we don't know what themes are compatible. People don't answer if you don't give enough information. If you're running Sense, try the Evo Themes and Apps section. If you're on AOSP, there's a ton in the Android Themes section. You have to pick something that is compatible with your rom.

1) If you were really trying to "get good themes", you should've looked for them yourself. That's why there are sections filled with them.
2) Being "new to this" is not an excuse. There are plenty of people "new to this" that are perfectly capable of finding their own information and following the rules.
3) I have no issues with "noobs", and I don't mind answering questions for people who are just getting started with a rooted Evo.
My issues lie with those that feel they're entitled and everything should be handed to them, or that the rules don't apply to them.
4) They aren't my rules, they're the forum rules. You should've read them when you became a member. Here's a few that you need to keep in mind:
Rule #1: Search before posting.
Rule #3: Post only using a clear subject and message.
Rule #5: Post a message only once.
5) I'll try really hard to remember to not read your posts, as I know that they'll most likely be a request for someone else to search for you. Unfortunately I try to help people out while I'm browsing the forums, so I'm sure I'll come across your posts again. When you have a legitimate question because you couldn't be bothered to read about what you were doing, I'll be happy to keep the answer to myself.
6) Being more specific is a great idea. People can't help you if you don't give them information. And thanks for the compliment, I like to think that I'm smart and it's nice to hear it from someone else. My self-esteem thanks you.

Need some info from a Nexus S user!

Hey guys,
Was wondering if anyone could post a logcat and a dmesg dump from a Nexus S running CM7? I just need both of those logs from a cold boot until the system has settled.
It'd be really helpful! Thanks guys.

i would of helped you out with this if you posted it in the right section. Posting Q's in Development section is one uh my biggest peeves
My bad, if a mod could move it that'd be great. I'm new here, I guess I should have read the rules first!

So he's a douche because the op didn't read the rules, the two big articles about what you're not supposed to post in the dev section, or use the obviously labeled Q&A section to post his question?
out of curiousity, what do you need them for? they could contain personal info.
I'm trying to steal all your personal info and be a major douche to all of you! HAHAHAHA!!
Honestly then block out the information that's personal. I never noticed any in a dmesg dump or a logcat from boot up. I'm trying to port the Atmel mxt224 driver that Samsung wrote to HTC phones that utilize the same touchscreen sensor. Not trying to piss anyone off or get anyone's panties in a bunch.
I'm sincerely sorry this is in the wrong section and that I violated the rules. I take full responsibility and wish the mods to move the topic if possible.
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium
Wow... give the guy a break...
You almost make it seem like posting in the wrong section is a crime or something.
And I'll even agree to pay for the crime I just wish that someone could move this so I can get an answer and not be flamed which was never my intent.
I was on a roll coding and decided some info from Nexus S users would be helpful and without giving it a thought posted in the development forum. I am "developing" after all but I see my mistake since its not for this phone in particular
Like really guys I'm sorry I just really want some info and yes I screwed up thinking this was the place to post.
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium

I guess you can still call me a "noob".

Howdy,
I've only been here a few months, born out of the curiosity to learn about rooting Android devices, in particular my S2.
In that time, I've tried a number of ROM and Kernel combinations and found a one that suits my needs - thanks!
While I'm in no way and expert in programming or coding, I can understand for the most part the sequence of events and logic behind what I intend to achieve with my rooted device.
In that respect, this post is more a comment about the state of play rather than a question, as I don't believe I'm qualified to post from a technical perspective, so probably limits my ability to contribute in that manner.
I would hope that my next comment is not taken the wrong way, but in recent times I've become frustrated with the amount of negative threads and comments in the various forums. It makes it difficult to find the answers that you're looking for when you have to wade through pages of irrelevant posts - the same questions appear over and over again.
I also legitimately emphasise with the developers of all the respective ROMS, who, let's face put up with a lot of crap especially when they're providing something that is effectively for free.
Anyway, that's my 2 pesos for this year.
Thanks and Happy New Year!

It is what it is.
In order to post and reply more broadly in Forums needs to submit 10 posts and clearly I can't just post "emoticons" and "lols".
As I can't yet pose a question in an appropriate Forum I'm limited to making comments.
So, no, my original post doesn't have a particular point...
Cheers
If you just want to increase your post count you should try posting at some off-topic thread. General forums are cluttered enough as they are.
