Today is the day, when i said good bye to my HD2.
It has been qute an experience owning the device and trying all these different WinMo, Android SD and Nand, Windows Phone 7, but i guess i got tired of all those, what is working and not working rom, and now i deceided to get a Xperia X10...
I want to thank all of the developers, testers, and all of the users of this subforum. Great job guys.
Shame... I had an X10 for about a week before I got rid for the HD2 (my second HD2) ... The X10 has a few 'quirks' of it's own but nothing reflashing can't fix.
ithink hd2 its quite good device, since all my friend complaining baout that n this on their soner device...
HTC is more experienced for PDA things than
I've got HD2 with Rafdroid and X10 (updated to 2.1). After using X10 I still come back to my second phone (I find Sense much, much more useful than Sony's firmware - especially these things that decide about phone functionality - adress book (searching is much better in Sense), phone and so on.)
I owned a X10 before but i was disappointed.
lmao. So let me get this straight, you're going from HD2 to the X10? In case that wasn't clear enough...
YOU'RE GOING FROM THE HD2 to the X10?!

Yep, i got rid of my 9 months old HD2 for a brand new X10, which has everything right out of the box. I wanted to have android for so long and i have tried qute a few sd and nand builds, but still there is something not working. i.e. i must connect to wpa2 enterprise network everyday ... no build support that... sorry hd2 ....

I hope you enjoy the Experience (get it lol)
imho, (and i provide phone tech support for virgin), you are correct to say its all the out of the box, but the build quality, mtbf*, useability, screen quality, reception and software are much below the Leo.
Don't forget that SE don't as a rule supply updates for their phones, and don't expect to update the rom on the X10 this centuary.
You would have made a better choice to go for a Wildfire S
Mean time between failures
If I was you, id try and sell the x10 and get a superior phone, perhaps an Hd2, if you need advice on running wp7 and android, we can help

What he said ^
Gosh guys, if he gets a new phone don't kill him over it. Fact is, our hd2 is non comparable to a true android phone. So it's obvious he's got a better android phone than us. Don't trash him about it.
PS. if any of you guys try to tell me that our hd2's are faster than android phones, root the android phone, tweak it, then flash a custom rom / kernel, then you'll see that android phone flying beyond what our hd2's can do.
niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Yeah I would think the HD2 the better of the two ?
X10 has locked bootloader - there are few custom ROMs and SE said they won't update the official Android in Xperia.
You wanted Android from the box - why not Galaxy S?

Because the galaxy s is known for it's hardware problems. However I find the problems insignificant in my case and opinion.
Now personally I find you choice of the X10 a bad one, as the desire, desire hd or even desire z would have been a better choice. But hey, congrats on the new device. :3
Hi guys! i'll be going to singapore soon to buy my htc hd2. Missed all the tweakings. Had an xda, then xda exec then got an htc shift (still with me now). Looking forward to have one soon.
You chahged hd2 for xperia? If I were you I wouldn't tell anyone about this stupidity. You are crazy, man!
When i had a Xperia X10 i waited 4 months for an update. And not to 2.2 or 2.3 but
from 1.6 to 2.1.(The first and last update for the Xperia X10 family.)
When i got the update guess what, still no multitouch, no adobe flash player, same laggy Timescape and Mediascape. And did not mention the BIG quadrant score: somewhere around 460-500, with the update.
So i did own a Xperia X10i for 4 months and i can say from experience that the HD2 android it is far better than the Xperia X10i.
This is only my opinion. I was happy to change the X10 for a HD2.
You did the opposite.Hope you will be happy with it.
Hello,
I've got a few questions about that phone if you allow me.
I'd like to change a HTC Magic for a Lg Optimus Chic and want to know if it is a smart move...
1. Is there dev work going on for the Chic ? No section here on xda (which concerns me) and I'd like to be sure there is a possibility to root it and flash custom ROM (Sense possible ? Cyanogen ?).
2. Is it really better hardware than a Magic, in terms of speed and usability (overclock, etc.) ?
Thank you very much !
its good !!!!!!!!!!!
i would like to see some dev work, its the wifes phone but id love to put cm 6.1.1 on it for her, its already rootable stock with z4root 1.3.0
id also like to see the chic get its own subforum, its impossible to find anything about it anywhere.
yes hopefully the Chic will get a subforum.
ok, ive searched and searched. so far there is next to nothing anywhere regarding the lg chic e720. i would like to know who else is interested in developing fir this device. i am by no means a seasoned dev, but i will do what i can for the chic community. right now ive only been able to successfully root a stock bell mobility e720 and remove all the bloatware. i would like to find out how we would go about getting a open recovery/ clockworkmod recovery on the phone. i believe i found a way to flash signed lg roms to the device but havent confirmed yet as i cannot find the 2.2.1 rom from lg, though i know it exists for other regions.
if anyone is interested or could point me in the right direction please pm me or reply here.
thanks, and maybe someday we could have cm6 on this little chic.

LG Chic is slightly better with better camera and slightly higher processor clock rate. Would definitely get the LG Chic. It's sleeker!
I have a chic for a week now and i am very happy with it. Its my first android smartphone and i love it. Would love to see a subforum.

Yes, the X10 will be getting official Gingerbread in end Q2-Beginning Q3. I would actually go with one of the froyo roms for now, and wait for new 2.3 rom releases after the SE gingerbread update. just my 2c LOL.
What would be best for you? "Best" is a very subjective concept and different people will point you towards their own preferences. What is a fact is that several Froyo custom ROM's have everything working, while Gingerbread ones still aren't 100% - mainly the camera isn't working.
My own preferences are the FreeX10/Beta4 by zdzihu and Wolfbreak's Xperia TW 006. If you like MIUI you can try Trip's MIUI Froyo, but I haven't tried it myself since I don't really like the interface.
I suggest you try these 100% working ROM's and see what like about each one and to get yourself comfortable with the rooting/flashing/updating/messing up/trying again/etc. process. Once there you might want to try playing with the other ROM's and custom kernels around.
Have fun!

Installing a Custom 2.2, 2.3 ROM
+1. Would just wait for the official 2.3. Most of the custom 2.3s are missing functionality.
2.2 is your best bet.
XDA Developers is a great place for people who want to put their phone to the max a.k.a HACKING!
I'm pretty sure a lot of people have hacked their phone before; rooting, download scripts, kernels, roms etc. So the purpose of this thread made is to share your hacking experience; how you started it, how did it go, what was the first thing you hacked inside your phone, did it work, did you screw up your phone etc. You should also state why you hacked and was it worth the hack. Also, another purpose of this thread is to encourage people to not be scared of hacking and try hacking their phones. (although is really up to you!)
So I shall start mine, right now!
So, after getting good results in my exam, my parents gifted me a Samsung Galaxy S Plus I9001 last year. It was one of the best smartphones I ever had(only had one....). So, the place where I bought the phone, the salesman said the phone had 1+3 years warranty. So, at that point I said to myself; I'm not going to modify, hack or install unnecessary stuff in my phone (to preserve my warranty).
Boy, was I WRONG! After I had 6 months with the phone, had a lot of apps installed and my phone began to slow down. I deleted apps by apps and still my phone was super slow. I realised, 4 years is too damn long to preserve. So, the first hack I did was rooting my phone. The reason I did that because there's this app called Screencast required me to root the phone in order to use my phone.
Of course, I was scared to hack my phone. So, I did a thorough research and go on with rooting. With enough balls and courage, I tried it. After following all the correct procedure. So, all goes down to my phone. Will it reboot or not? That's the question. So, I waited. And wait. And wait. THEN SUDDENLY, BAM! PHONE WORKS! I was so happy, there are a lot of apps that required root.
A few months later, I was a bit daring and tried to install a ROM this time (cause my friend using ICS on his S2, felt totally jealous . Also GB sucks, no offense). Opened Galaxy S Plus I9001 Android Dev page. BAM! Roms, and roms and a hell load of roms! I tried the most safest ICS ROM, Acro86's ICS CM9 ROM. Again, was scared to tried, but then again my warranty is a done deal. So I went for it. BOY IT WAS FREAKING WORTH IT. Didn't really know my phone could run ICS/JB. Phone really smooth, lots of apps I used before now is smooth. It was really worth the shot.
Long story short, You SHOULD try hacking, because you can get all the awesome stuff in your phone. I say you should try hacking because it is a load of fun!
Now, I'm currently using hypnos17's BioHazard V5 with TWRP recovery. Really nice and smooth.
So, now. What is your first hacking experience? Please share it to everyone! This thread may help a lot of people people out there! :victory: :fingers-crossed:

Nice story! Mine-
When I first got the SGS it was already a bit old, the SIII was already on the market. I heard about people upgrading their Android to something better than what the cellular company gives you, and I knew I wanted to do it. I knew nothing about it, so I went to my brother in law who also has an SGS.
He rooted my phone and installed the latest nightly version of CM9 at the time. After a while my friend also learned how to do it, so I tried CM10, CM9 again (a stable version), switched to Slim Bean, etc. One time my phone didn't boot after a flash and I thought it died, but in the end I managed to get back into CWM.
I don't think I'm going to try anymore roms (just update my Slim), because it's way too much work every time and I don't have the energy for that... So unless I find what I'm looking for in a rom (a good and fast rom, that looks like Samsung's, and one that syncs the Facebook friends with the contacts without having to use a third-party app)., I'm not going to change it again.
I will be creating a repository of root methods and guides, recoveries, roms and stock files. This will be a one stop shop for all your developer needs.
So far the only development. Is by Janjan, providing root, and a twrp recovery

considering all development for this device, from the only dev that ever worked on it, has stopped. I regret buying this device. I thought for sure Sony would have better action than this. I had a note 2 before this, and they were still developing for that phone when I stopped using it 2 months Ago. I think im going to try to sell it. it's really pathetic. but it is what it is

I am in the process of moving but once that is done I will be working on porting a few roms so that we have some choices. Don't give up yet. I have faith in the community

I just bought this coming from a Nexus 6P and was surprised that nothing had really been done with it it seems to be a good phone, just some of the stock options suck lol. I saw your thread for root and custom recovery and am going to try it I'm the next couple days.
You said you are going to be porting some Roms over, any ideas which you will be attempting? If you are taking requests I wouldn't mind Pure Nexus.. It's pretty kickass from a well known dev.. Or maybe even crdroid (lineage based)? Thanks for your work so far and keep at it.. Like I said, pretty good phone, just no development much yet.

The option for root and recovery is done by JanJan who has stopped working on this device. Please give him a thanks and your credit. Mid level phones have a habit of taking a few months to really get development going. But this phone should have plenty in the coming months!
I'd like to jump in for kernel and recovery development, but the problem is I don't have experience and I have to setup a dedicated Linux machine from one of unused laptop. Also, I have to work like everybody. I have four Xperia (Z Ultra, XA Ultra, XA1 Ultra, and L1). I just need other developers to help me get started.
Note: I only have US version except Z Ultra (C6833).
Hii
Just to give my opinion too on this topic
I did the mistake.. Usually I do my own research by google-ing all the reviews
Then I read some opinions, then i look also on you tube and then the most important
I do look at xda forum to see the support of the device
And i saw all that...but than I saw the forum is not like I am used to..its like dead .. not
just there are no one posting things..but the custom rom support is not there...
Well, I said to me also... ok its a 6 inch.. not everybody likes phablets..
Like, 5 inch is more popular.. maybe that is the reson there are no development..
And then I said..ok announced in Feb/March but just got to the market about May..
So..new device..should be some development..
Unfortunally I got one with bootloader unlock NO status..
And now I can not even get root..
But still... It was weird to have such an phone on XDA with dead forum all at all
Did a bit more research last few day after I got the device
As It looks like all the X series from the Sony Xperia... has no support..
Like there are 7 or 8 devices from the X series and the only one is the X Performance Model wich has like 4 to 5 custom roms
and a few stock modified kernels..
All the other phones do not have anything..
Or let me say the best example the XA Ultra also 6 inch from last year 2016 Model
Has not evan 1 thread or commend under xda forum for custom roms or kernels or what ever..like
more then one year and what?? Nothing..
So I do not hope we will have anything...not to get fooled its a new devices it will be in time and
we will need to wait ... bla bla bla.. nothing will happen
The best thing is to fool yourself with different launchers so that after some of use of the phone
You get sort of a feeling you did flash something..and get the feeling you changed the phone
Thats all...
Would point to NOVA laungher..and some others wich have much settings to modify the looks and
the way it works...
I really to not think anything will happen.. ever
i bought the regular xa1 thinking that there'd be insane development going on for it. looking back, i shouldn't have unlocked bootloader, and looked at getting different phone. if i try to take it back to the store now even though it's under 1 year warranty, they'll just say, "oh we can't replace it, we got to send it off to sony" in which case they won't do anything as sony will see that the bootloader is unlocked
Not to say custom ROMs aren't great and all, I too was here for the good stuff, but people complaining and taking phones back is a bit dramatic.
The stock ROM is great. It doesn't really need a custom ROM. It's a perfectly reasonable phone by itself.
A custom ROM makes sense in phones such as Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi, where they botch everything to make it "unique", but Sony phones tread the line carefully to keep it pure as possible whilst adding actual useful features.
If you're picking up phones just to hack them, maybe you should try to start your own development on them. Get the toolchains, bring up a Linux system and get creative. Then you can be the hero of your own story.
What is the best way to return to fully stock? Relock the bootloader and flash the latest firmware? Might sell mine too and get an Essential PH-1.
So since this is my first Sony device and may be my last for a few reasons question I want to return everything to stock, and I use the method that was provided it won't relock bootloader right? I have to manually relock it like any other device? I just wanna return to stock so I can try and see what it take to get a Oreo rom once the update comes through.
Actually maybe do some research when this phone first came out with had start of support. We have twrp and custom kernel. There's a search button. Try it out.
I know that this thread seems to be dead but I was wondering if someone could share the sound file for plugging in the charging cord
