I am having a lag problem playing some HD videos on my Xperia with Jack's 3.4 Med rom using Coreplayer 1.3.
Videos I tried:
Transformers 2 HD Trailer (852x355, 2643kbps, 23fps)
The Prodigy-Omen (1000x432, 2663 kbps, 25fps) (800x480, 1200kbps, 25fps)
The highest quality sample at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3045216&postcount=2
Plays all the regular videos/movies fine (Prodigy-Omen at 400x240, 644kbps, 23fps)
I tried directdraw and qtv with tytn II driver mode enabled.
How can I solve the HD playback problem?
Thanks.
EDIT: O MY GOODNESS!
I just saw the sticky on the top of the page...I feel so silly.
Thanks all.
If you are converting the video to mp4, than you should better use WMP, so that you can utilize vga's acceleration. Even with acceleration I really doubt that you can play 852x355, 2643kbps with no lag or missing frames. And if you use coreplayer, than you will get even slower playback performance. I can't even play xvid 640x352 800kbps without frame losses on coreplayer.
CorePlayer can't use hardware video acceleration...
IMO, the best way is to use TouchHD video converter to recode video and use Windows Player to watch them

I recode video with touchHD converter and use windows player
I can watch Iron Man ( 800*336, MPEG-4 AVC 0.7 to 1.2Mbps, AAC 2.0 128Kbps) with no loss frames and no lag
At CorePlayer you can change buffering under settings that help a lot
the x1 can hardly handle standard def
Ohhh, thanks for all the tips.
Used TouchHD video converter and did them into MP4 but WMP says it can't load codec, really aching my processors...
Coreplayer plays my videos more smoothly than wmp ever does.
as im more concerned about video playback, can anybody tell me what resolution it plays without any problem(avi mp4 or mkv with third party player) ?
With the original firmware from sony (2.1)... only 3gp and mp4.
thanks for the reply. and
what resolution in mp4 format?
and what if i flash with custom rom like 2.2 or 2.3 ?
i think i read some review on some website saying it plays upto wvga res videos.
Xperia x8 screen resolution is 340x480.
I read somewhere that it can play HD mp4 with some apps from market (stock player fails to play them).
For the custom firmware:
Its linux, you can do everythink that linux can do but you will have to program it first (codecs). So, everythink is posible.
Well, I use Rock Player universal version and it plays a lot of formats. It plays the usual avi DVDrips (~700mb) comfortably along with subtitles.
Hello, I own a HTC Touch HD. WM 6.1 stock rom.
I want to watch some videos but I can't because if i convert it with MP4forHD any video quality I may choose it has video / sound sttuter in it so I can't barrely watch someting.
Tried to download some 720p video from Youtube. Converted them with that software but still doesn't work , furthermore I tried to get a full movie (Avi XVID , mkv ... ) but still i get that sttuter. As I remember it was a time when I could watch any videos without sttuter using the same software. I use pvPlayer and TCMP 2.3.
Is there any solution for this?
Cheers.
Try Core Player. just google it.
Hey guys i wanna ask someone who have a xperia x2 how is video playback quality cause i have put many videos with many file type MP4 WMV and the playback was rubbish the picture isn't clear.
even though the phone is said to support HD video playback but when i play a 360p video it isn't clear.
another thing about the youtube app videos are the same not clear just like am watching a very bad video.
some one can help???
What are you using to play them back ... the built-in player?
I was not happy with it -- skipped alot and soethimes just stopped and needed to reboot ... I now use Corel player -- and that seems to work well ...
i used Media player and the slideview player. the videos did not work on core player only audio played.
as for youtube app is there anything i can do the resolution is very bad can you help?
and thank you any way.
Did you look at the settings for CorePlayer that are listed in XDA? when I first loaded it, it also did not play the video ... They are under tools, settings, then select the video page --- I have mine set to GDI video output, High video quality, Only for 50% smooth zoom, and the Dither box checked.
I think those are the only changed that I made from the default settings, but is was awhile ago, so I am not 100% sure ...
I don't use youtube, so I can't help there ... but there is a new app listed with Omarket that is supposed to provide smooth video -- but I have not tried it ...
Hi,
I have a problem with playing 4k videos on my Galaxy S5, SM-G900F. Whenever I record something with 4k quality and play it, it's fine. But when I download a short 4k video and play it, it either stutters or plays it @ 1 FPS. That is, it shows a frame for a second and it disappears for a second and so on... Also it happens to have no sound at all.
What gives? Has anyone else had this problem too?
Thanks.

Just because it does not fully support all 4k video formats (codec).
Maybe the newer firmware will support more formats.

OK. Maybe I should try finding different codecs. I think players like BS Player and MX Player support custom codecs. If anyone knows of any good 4k codecs for Android I'd be grateful.
