hell yea!
I hope that getting AOKP working with i747 is just a matter of flashing a different modem
It will come. Eventually...
in the meantime Whitehawk and I may do a good ole' fashioned somali ROM for old times sake
no promises or ETAs though
Glad you guys are on board!
AOKP is great and I'm sure will grace all the s3's, among many other quality roms. Developer support will likely be massive.

Just get rid of god awful touchwiz, love your aokp roms on my Nexus, which btw will you be updating AOKP to Jelly Bean now that the dev OTA is out =)
AOKP FTW
AOKP is definitely a favorite. Amazing customizatio, unicorns, and rainbows. Awesome news.

Woooooooooooooo. I was contemplating about getting the Galaxy nexus again because it's so cheap and has JB but with AOKP coming to the US S3 I'm satisfied. Back when I had the Galaxy nexus (even now on my I777 GS2) AOKP roms are just awesome.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
Been missing AOKP something fierce coming from SGS2 with AOKP to this SGS3 with TouchWiz. Can't wait to see it. Donations are ready to go from me!!
AOKP is by far the best rom I have tried. When I had my GS2 I tried every ROM I could, and always ended up going back to AOKP (well, once it was released).
I would say the only thing I miss about the gs2 is aokp Cannot freaking wait to get it up on this phone.
On the 8th day God created Aokp..and everything was good.

Glad my favorite ROM is coming to my new favorite phone!
roman just posted a working kernel for the t mo gs3 one step closer
I'm glad to see this. AOKP was the only thing keeping me sane using my Captivate (original Galaxy S) til I could get my hands on an SIII (AT&T). I haven't rooted mine yet, been waiting for some better ROMs, but I know TouchWiz and the GOD AWFUL gingerbread green will drive me to rooting and flashing soon. Can't wait to see what AOKP will look like on the US variants of the SIII.

No complaints, just a place to sing the praises of the awesomeness that is CM9.
I for one love CM9. Sure, there's some things that could be improved, but this rom is just amazing. I especially love that ICS is working on a phone that Samsung was just to lazy to work on. We get the benefits of Matias Duarte's amazing talent combined with the real-world-minded approach to porting of the ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND FABULOUS CM9 developer team.
And perhaps the best thing: This is a work in progress, so that means regular updates with continued improvements.
What could be better?
So, to everyone involved, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Also 1st !
It is not that Samsung was too lazy it was that it would require them to give up their proprietary BML partition or restructure it which if done by OTA would stand to great a risk of bricking the phone, especially one over a year and a half old.
Beta 0 is very fast and snappy. Thank you CM9 team.

all thanks to the awesome people of CM9 team!
I've lost track of how many people asked how I got it on my epic... actually only 1 person asked because at my school people like the name HTC so they think they have the best phone no matter what. Its a stupid trend. The 1 guy was astounded lol

Time to give this thread a bump.
Beta2 rocks. I look at some of the other threads about what the future of CM9 should be, and I can't help but thinking,"NOOOOO! DON'T MESS WITH IIIIITTTTT!"
I think I'm going to stick with Beta2 until I see some overwhelmingly compelling reason to update again.
Just sayin'.

I'm also loving beta 2! As much as I would like to get a Gnex, this dedicated support has turned my epic into the poor mans Gnex. :-]
Looks like HTC aren't as dumb as we thought.
This is taken from a leaked RUU for the HTC Speedy (EVO Shift 4G)
Sense 3.6 with Android 4.0.3 Build 3.6.32.21
This has taken out all updates to the bootloader and you will not lose root.
Load zip on SD Card and flash in Bootloader "Volume down + Power"
I won't be updating so this is just going in general. Do what you will with it.

I update my evo shift to Android 4.0,its iMessage is very good.
I'm assuming this is the stock rom... How well is it vs. a custom rom? Not sure if I want to drop the customizations of my current rom to go with stock, even if it does mean gaining ICS.
This is fake, I check in daily waiting for an ICS Sense ROM, it can't come fast enough. I'm thinking about buying a new device just to get it.

Salvage mod 1.4, I still find myself going back to it when I get sick of charging my phone.
OMGB is the most vanilla rom I've used/seen.

^^^ SalvageMod 1.4 is an excellent pure vanilla rom! Stability wise it's hard to match, and it's extremely lite weight.
BTW for SM fans check this out..

Whats your favorite (and most stable) ICS rom for your Evos?
Hey guys,
We have been working to port Sense 4.0 since the first RUU came out and in this thread we will show you the progress we make + photo's etc just to keep you updated.
How are we doing this?
-Use the latest HTC One X RUU as Rom base
-Latest CM9 nightly build for libraries, vendors etc..
-Modified CM9 kernel with HTC parts (bootclasspaths, mounts, etc), I compile a new kernel daily.
-Use our brains alot
So One X has a resolution of 1280x720 so we need to resize some apps but that's not so hard.
I will post in this thread daily with answers and that kind of shizzle.
If you'd like to donate, check my sig =)
You can also follow our progress on our site!

Wow cant wait to test this amazing work
This is so awesome! Is it possible for your team to write a guide on what exactly you did, or at least a deeper overview? The information on porting Sense/TouchWiz is dangerously sparse on the internet, so it doesn't really happen often.
@Coentje44 nice thing up there... But, its kinda funny... Why didnt you guys used One S RUU? One S has the same res as us... HDPI! lol
Anyway, good job in porting though...

Seems like Sammy is pushing SII plus version seen they announced it with JB? I don't see other reason aside that one. Then again 4.2.1 is on various custom ROMs, so one can try and see how it all works, also with butter.
My kid flashed custom JB 4.2.1 rom on his SGS II and he reverted back to ICS day after... don't ask why, I think he's a bit crazy but might be also right If I see JB 4.2.1 on ours then I can say thanks, but let's be fair - It's made for newer phones like Note II and S III (let alone S IV that's coming up shortly).
