I do not think mine keeps up either.
The poor wifi speeds are fairly well documented in the AnandTech review.
It's interesting that the OneX / EvoLTE does better with the same chipset.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/6022/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-review-att-and-tmobile-usa-variants/8
Try 20mhz channel and see if it changes. Also, speed test is not 100% accurate with connections over 20mbit according to them.
The results you posted seem to be within the expected range. What n router are you using? Not all n equipment is as fast as you think(well documented). What about channel saturation? Anyone else nearby using the same channels? Channel space is shared media. Many factors involved.
I would be satisfied with your results. Considering it is a phone, has ddr2 mem, a limited bus speed and width(compared to a pc), and probably a slower WiFi adapter than a pc, I wouldn't worry.

I tested to see if power saving reduces performance and it indeed does. Try doing a quadrant test while using power saving and then after and you'll see the difference.

Yes, this was known for awhile now. I lightly touched upon it from a review my topic. It does however increase the battery life by %20 to %25.

That's nice, but what if you're 400 miles away from a gas station? It would be awesome if the "ferrari" had the ability to adjust its engine and fuel injectors to give it another 2 to 4 mpg.

I'm on my second Nexus 4 and still can't get over how poor the WiFi range is on these phones. Both of my N4s have had the same results. When I'm in an area of my house about 20-25 feet from the router I get 0-1 bars of WiFi, where my laptop and PS3 both get 80-100% connectivity. Every other smartphone I've owned has had better WiFi reception than this. Anyone have suggestions?

Try changing the security settings on your router to use a different protocol. For some reason that made a big difference for me. Generally I've found the WiFi range to be fairly good.

Are you on 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz band? My N4 refuses to work on the 2.4Ghz band. When it did connect, I would get less than 1MB connection link. Switched over to 5Ghz band, and I get a consistent 72MB connection. It even picks it up out to the middle of the street. Try changing bands if you have a capable router. Hopefully the next update will solve the WiFi problems this phone has.

Try flashing a aftermarket kernel such as Franco Kernel. You can change the WiFi algorithm as well to see if it improves at all (changable with his app, Franco Kernel updater)
A lot of people reported that R19 and newer fixed their N4's wifi problems.

I get decent range on both 2.4 and 5 GHz ranges. Dont have it set on channels and allow the router to set that. Obviously do to the higher freq I get less range on the 5 GHz range but use this for my phone and my wife's S3 as it will run on it as well. Keeping the 2.4 side as clutter free as possible. Love my dlink dual band router.

Wow... You can not control your speed only YOUR ISP can..
Unless he means Wi-Fi and if you have 54g 802.11g you will be maxed out. If wired is faster then just get a wireless router and disable the wireless on the modem.

Depending on the interference. My wireless router in an apartment only maxes at 10 or maybe 11 Mbps because of interference. It may be slow on Wi-Fi or it may not be.

I find it helps to turn on airplane mode then turn it off. Resetting the radios often helps it pick up 4g again.
We shouldn't have to keep toggling just to maintain lte. I called Verizon the other day and they put in a ticket but I don't think much is going to come of it.
This phone's reception is much weaker than the droid DNA. In places I got steady 4g, it now goes back and forth from 3g.
The signal strength is like a good 10-20+dbs worse than the DNA in the same spots. (I'm pretty much only at work and home do nothing's changed except the phone).
Sometimes with this phone, it'll show connected to lte (1-2 bars on the icon) but I can't get anything to load. No websites, no rhapsody streaming, nothing. All apps time out trying to connect. But that might be just a specific area at work. Regardless, I'm sure that even at home, the signal strength is always over -100 when the DNA would regularly be sub -100
So annoying.

Not only is my cellular reception much better, my wifi reception is much better too. Good enough that in places that both didn't work before I now get at least usable 1x or one bar 3g/4g data.

OP, have you dropped your phone perhaps? I just read about the "LDS" technology they started using beginning with the Note 3 that integrates the antenna into the actual frame of the device. They say stress on the frame could cause the antenna itself inside to crack affecting signal.

I don't think people in here realize different manufacturers phones get different reception. HTC and Moto phones will ALWAYS get better signal. Its a fact of life. Just because your note 3 is newer doesn't mean anything.
And if your still thinking of switching to Dev Edition for better signal, your in for a surprise..... That phone has the same radio hardware in it that the Note 3 you currently have does. Wouldn't waste the "couple hundred bucks" looking there for better signal.
PS - my Note 3 gets phenomenal signal. Not as good as my HTC One did (obviously) but better than all the other flagship phones Verizon has had in the last 2 yrs.

Hi
So lets get straight to it. Im rooted using IO , freegeed w/twrp, running stock rooted 10g rom. I have tried several roms and none of them on a speed test show me able to get over 3.8 mbps yet I get 8 mbps upload. I checked my pc, 30+ mbps download on there. Checked my gf's (completely untouched by me lol) g2 and she has the same problem its like it capped at 3.8 mbps on the wifi. 4g im getting 30 mbps. I am using comcasts phone/modem/router pos and when i checked i saw its 2.4ghz so i selected 2.4ghz on the phone along with turned wifi battery saver off. I have pretty much tried all I can think of. So now i need your help! I switched over from my lg og to the g2 and the og worked fine on this router.
Maybe try changing the channel on your router to 11?
thanks for the reply, but did not work.
Is it an old router?Try your phone with another router.
I'm guessing since its Comcast crap and only 2.4 ghz no 5 option that it is old. Lol. Just not sure why my og worked fine with this router, my brothers og pro is fine. But not our g2's

@ripbabey Turn to WPA TKIP only. The G2 hates the Technicolor AES+TKIP combo. Fixed mine. Weird thing is, works fine in AES on my SB6141 and the Arris. No further idea about it. Something just isn't getting along between the two. I'm not technical enough to dig deeper.
I'll check that out thanks
