[Q] How to Backup my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT 7510 - Galaxy Tab General

Hi, I want to back up (like clone back that is, meaning I want to preserve the current state of my Tab) so that I can get back to this state if something goes wrong because of an install.
I also want to be able to restore to the default state of my tab at the time of purchase.
How can I do that without rooting my tab.
Thanks in advance.

1. This is galaxy tab 7 forum.
2. You need clockworkmood recovery (CWM).
3. WHY you don't want root???

So.. what next?

Just purchased a i9000M.. rooted & unlocked.. (Rogers BlackBerry Convert! =P)
I'm totally new to the Android scene.. whats the next step really with my phone?
I'd start with maybe getting rid of Bell's bloatware?
check over the developer forum
see if you have a 3 button download mode or not
upgrade to JM8 firmware and install voodoo fix - your phone will suck without it
then browse the market for some fun apps
Yeah I do have 3 button download/recovery.
JM8 Firmware? Voodoo Fix?

Could somebody enlighten me on how flashing the ROM works??.. do I lose my data (contacts/other apps), every time I flash ROM?
check the "FAQ" a the top of the development section it will answer everything
but in short: no you don't lose data, but its highly recommended to backup anyway, it goes wrong easily, titaniumbackup (in the market) is a free app that let you backup (use "batch" option backup all) and you can copy it from the internal sdcard (/sdcard/titaniumbackup) to the external one or to your pc via usb, so you've a backup of your stuff forever
it doesnt backup the old rom
you use Odin to flash
ps see this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786087

switching between 2 nexus one

Hello ,
have a question about 2 nexus one
a: is rooted and runs the actual Canogenmod Rom Baseband 32,36,00,28U_4.06.00.12_7 Android 2.3.3
b: is unrooted and has 2.3.4 on it
I want switch the software between both phones. I guess Nandroid will do it or ?
To get the sofware from a to b i asume b has to be rooted ?
To get tne software from b to a , a: can stay as it is ??
Thanks
No, both have to be rooted. Nandroid from one phone, wipe and restore it on the other. You might also be able to use titanium backup or similar to restore particular settings if you didn't want to have everything the same.

Help updating to 4.2 and CM 10.1. Please go easy...

I have a nexus 7 running 4.1.2 and Aokp ROM.
Can I update to 4.2 and flash to CM 10.1 without losing any data or settings?
Can someone point me in the right direction to do this step by step.
I have clockworkmod and titanium backup installed but I have not made a backup or transfered data to my PC yet.
Thanks in advance for the help.
I used to come to this site when it first started and I had my T-Mobile XDA running windows.

When I made the exact same transition (4.1 aokp to CM10.1), the upgrade completely killed my filesystem.
I can't post links yet, so just google "twrp and 4.2", the first result explains it all.
I suggest you make a backup with Titainium and/or completely wipe the device before you install 10.1

If you have Titanium Backup Pro you can.
Ok I made a titanium backup of all apps and data. I also created a update.zip file and copied everything to my pc.
Now when I go into recovery to flash 4.2.1 I get a error 7. I read that it's not matching the required md5 or so. I guess I have to find a rooted version of 4.2.1???
Thanks,
Chris

"Restore" to what level? Are you thinking factory reset and return to stock?

yeah like a factory reset
bump!
Galaxy S3?
If you want to return to factory settings the best way is to do it via recovery. You can do this regardless of whether you have the stock recovery or have flashed CWM/TWRP. Just be aware that factory reset in the stock recovery will erase your internal SD card so you need to backup anything on it you want to keep. I would also remove any external SD card you have installed to just to be safe.
If you have CWM/TWRP then a factory reset shouldn't erase your internal or external card. But in both cases you will lose any user data you have on the phone. So things like text messages and installed applications will be lost. I would suggest a backup with the likes of Titanium Backup or, even better, do a Nandroid backup if you have CWM/TWRP installed. You can then use an application like Nandroid Manager to restore any aspect of the backup you see fit afterwards.
And this really should have been posted in Q&A.
Do i clean install with odin. A clean install is always the best.
Btw you're in the wrong thread my friend
Yeah i realized i was in the wrong section after i posted it sorry, okay when you say recovery what do you mean? cant i just restore it through samsung kies ? and about the titanium backup....whats wrong with backing it up with samsung kies also? and i am not planning on rooting the device after i restore it so titanium backup wont work ?

- If you do factory reset, the root still remains and you can restore apps using Titanium.
- If you restore all partitions, you will lost root and Titanium will not work anymore.
Ok, so i want to get rid of the root, i want to restore completely and update my device without having root at all, but i also want to be able to restore my old messages mail accounts ETC? what do i have to do to accomplish this...

Sorry my mistake. Make a backup with Kies.
Okay thank you , then after that i need to reset binary counter and then restore with odin yes ?
Not sure about resetting binary counter, you can try if flashing via Odin is not success.
Download the stock firmware for your device and flash via Odin.

Please, how do I backup my Samsung firmare to my pc?

AFAIK there is no way to back up whole stock Rom when you are not rooted and have stock recovery. In this case you can only back up all user data like aplications, system settings, phone data etc. There are many apps available for android as well as for pc to do so.
