In post 3 of the Decks Reloaded thread, there is a Deck'd Blues Mod undo zip.
What exactly is this "un-doing"?
Do people has issues when going from that theme to another?
Does something in that theme "stick"? and cause issues for another theme?
I tried the Deck'd Blues Mod theme and went back to another with no issues.
Edit:my post was not originally post 4
Tried today to click on links from the www google market and it said it will download to my phone.
But the phone doesnt download it like it does if I am running a sense rom.
Ropo said he just tried it out on his and it worked fine.
Just wondering if anyone knows of any fix's for this?
Not a big deal, but something I just had happen and wanted to see if anyone else out there has this issue?

Have I missed that "screenshot" option since running this rom? Or just a fluke when I applied Deck'd Blues mod then went back to Epic Blue???
I've been using the included "ShootMe" app to take screenshots.

OK, so I am running Damages latest release, only with the Trev mods. (this alone might be the issue, can you help me find out?)
Every ROM I've ever run, even rooted stock, I've always sat on MINIMUM 110m free internal memory. As you can see, Im barely sitting on 80m. I remove just about EVERYTHING stock other than Sense and its main widgets (clocks, mail, bookmarks, calender, and music) along with all that useless nonsense (stocks, nfl, twitter, flickr, the whole nine yards) I've been sitting on 159m free before, and I like to keep it that way (between 110 and 159). I do what I always do when I install a new ROM, I use Root Explorer, multiselect, and delete EVERRRYTHING. I cannot figure out what is running up my free space. Linda claims I'm using 72m of my 159m free space for apps, which is NOT true, as I've only installed 8 apps outside of what came with the ROM and what I removed. I usually am using about 20-50 (when I go download happy on weekends)
This picture is of the free RAM I have (God I love estrong and the widgets) which seems to be OK-ish, generally I have over 90, 106 when things are real good (back on DCV1 100 was my MIN at all times!!)

im noticing a major lag too, something is wrong. avalaunch, ease, explain to me what im missing. linda has always said ive had 20-50 used up for apps, at its climax, why is it so high now? why is my phone telling me i have less than 90m free internally, when i garuntee if i nandroid back to dcv1, i know all these things will be fixed.
i dont understand, im asking for help, could you please supply it, or just not respond at all?

I actually have noticed the same problem, when using a2sd ive always had only used 30MB or so, but not it says im using almost 3 times as much, Maybe it has something to do with the rom and a2sd being messed up. but it stated with these sprint leaks, before with every rom it was much less internal memory being used up.. dont know what causes it.

is that automatic in damagedtrev? like if you flash it, no matter what its going to partition and set it up?
ive nevvver used a2sd, i have no need, i keep my phone minimal. how do i tell if im using a2sd, and htf do i stop it?
I would like to know if there is an answer to this as well. I have also always shown over 100 plus meg free after installing all my apps.

My question is...the comparisons you are performing here, are they based on a 1.5 ROM (since I saw stock rom mentioned)? If so, 2.1 has larger files as part of the base system that will take up more space.
I currently have 84.02MB
This is making me wonder also. I am looking at my info and says system is using 97 with 61 free, I am using a2sd and last time similar setup i was well over 120 free. May have to check a diff rom tomorrow to see if there is maybe something with it. and although my busybox df -h shows sdcard/sd if i type a2sd in adb i get a2sd: not found. This is in fresh 2.0d btw
Since you only have 8 apps installed, the OS itself must be using up the rest of the internal memory. My guess is that the ROM's based off the newer Sprint leaks haven't been fully optimized yet to the extent that the Eris-based ROM's were. When the devs have had more time to tweak everything, you'll probably see those numbers go down. Do you need that much internal memory free? The amount of free internal memory you have is not going to affect the performance of your phone (well...maybe if it's completely full). I don't think you really need to worry about it.

I have actually used all 3 including the new Fresh 2.1 rom and it is the same. I just figured the OS was larger with it being 2.1 but did not know for sure. IMO nothing is pointless if someone wants to know something, esp when you can search for this and find nothing.

I am comparing roms like darchlegend and eris leaks, all 2.1, but not that im using sprint, my internal memory has been significantly lower. I know a2sd is automatic, but knowing they had problems with it before not sure if something is still messed up. a2sd would be only activated (how its supposed to work) when your sd card is partitioned, which mine is. so you would think using a2sd in my case mine should be even lower than yours.
I know to disable a2sd, make sure your sd card is not partioned with ext file system. Only have swap and fat32. I just checked my phone and have 101 mb free in the system. Have Fresh2.0d (his newest ROM) flashed right now. Will reflash Regaw's and see what I have.

DamageControl 2.5 has a newer A2SD that should fix several issues, especially with A2SD not setting things up correctly. But, I can take a look at the issue for you.
Before going into ADB shell, type adb remount to mount your filesystem in read-write mode.
Now, go into ADB shell, at the prompt type:
ls -l /data
Look at the app entry. If it has "-> /system/sd/app" to the right of the entry, then the apps are going to the SD card. If not, you can type the following commands to make it work:
cp /data/app/* /system/sd/app
cp /data/app-private/* /system/sd/app-private
rm -f /data/app
rm -f /data/app-private
ln -s /system/sd/app /data/app
ln -s /system/sd/app-private /data/app-private
Hope that helps.

ill be honest, given damage seems to be the most popular rom, searching his threads have become such a hassle, its become a general consensus to post a new.thread with a bug not reported in his OP/change logs. i know its cluttery, but ive asked several questions in his threads, for them to get buried seconds later, and searching only brings up the oroginal question you had posted.
avalaunch said i was in system partition. what does that mean?
I was using DamagedTrev light, and tried everything to get my Hero to sleep but it wouldnt. Using the free memory widget, and checking my phone through out the day at work i could watch the ram get depleted until the phone became unusable and i would have to pull the battery. I never figured out what was causing it, as i had fixed my PRI, and my TWS was 0%. I have since changed ROMs, sorry i couldnt be of more help.

Spoke with Conap about using his kernel for tsupdate4.zip, he he prefers that i not re-release it. you can find his kernel and wlan.ko from this post. xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM]ErisLightningBolt 2.7 Cyanogen build( OC, JIT, Apps2sd, GPS)6/21/10.
instructions on how to flash the kernel can be found here [ROM]ErisLightningBolt 2.7 Cyanogen build( OC, JIT, Apps2sd, GPS)6/21/10 - Page 142 - xda-developers
If you want wifi working after this though you much have the wlan.ko. Extract it to your sdk/tools and
Code:
adb remount
adb push wlan.ko /system/lib/modules/
adb reboot
old_lockscreen.zip <---flash from recovery if you prefer the sliding tabs rather than the rotary LS
New Patches
Ask and ya shall receive. Due to the overwhelming amount of requests for JIT, JIT is now enabled by default. here are patches to turn them on/off. I got the basic idea from Zach.Xtra
Flash these from recovery, wipe, reboot.
Jit On. <---JIT is on by default, but if you turn it off and would like to turn it back on, flash from recovery, clear dalvk, reboot.
Jit Off. <---Flash from recovery, wipe dalvik and reboot. Will turn off JIT.

froyo white widow would be the same as all the other froyo roms. the only froyo rom that is even kinda unique is that new nonsensikal one
I just flashed this rom (and a couple of the fixes as well). I immediately moved some apps to sd and checked internal storage.....6%. Then I took a picture and scrolled through the gallery. Man, it feels good to be back on 2.1. I love Froyo but my wife is prego, I'm about to go out of town for business, and I've got a cruise scheduled for Sept. I need a stable rom for a while and I think I've found one. Thanx for the awesome rom! I shall play and report back later.

Some of you may remember back on the white widow wave, i had a section for MM themes. i may add a section the the 2nd pot for working MM themes. theres so many of them out there. i just gave minimal matte a shot. the control files takes little tweaking, and theres a few images that i cant get to stick fro the theme, but thats my new favorite one. and the suave sense icons and all that looks REALLY nice too. i based my whole suave sense rom off of eessels suave sense MM

Dude, I'm very impressed. This is the ROM I've been looking for. I was wanting a ROM that had a working camera, and wanted a ROM with no dialer lag. That's why I was on KaosFroyo because there was no dialer lag that I experienced on every Sense 2.1 ROMS. I couldn't find a decent 2.1 non-Sense ROM until now!!!! Thank you very much sir! Expect a donation from me soon. Serious. You just made my night. =]
Also, I'm new to this and I installed SetCPU... should I have not? I noticed that I can only OC to 528 instead of 710 like other ROMS I have been on. Please let me know...

ya, set cpu should be installed. what pre-set did you chose? auto-detect is the one you should have picked. this rom can be clocked up to 864. you got something going wrong.
are any of the setting in setcpu un-selectable? if there are, that means that your in 'read-only' mode. meaning you didnt give setcpu root access. try messing around with those few things.
This is a zippy rom. Downloads apps fast, navigates through screens fast....no lag at all. I like that I can see my fat32, partition, and internal storage in settings. Live wallpapers stick (or at least the one I tried did). I recommend "Shake Them All" from the market.
I'm on setcpu 2.0.1 and when I autodetect it's only allowing me to go to 768. Still quick, but you said it should OC to 864. Any ideas?
This is def. my new daily use rom!

Also, just to add, if you're having trouble with the permissions for SetCPU, just go into the superuser permissions app (whichever one is included) and remove it from the list. Then, when you click on setcpu, make sure you click always allow for root permissions.
(I know you probably already know that, but this way if other people are having trouble they don't have to post )

I made an update to MIUI GB 2.3.7 for myself. I'm putting the ROM here in general because I'm not a developer, I'm not really going to offer too much support, just wanted to share what I ported for myself
Most of you know what stock MIUI looks like right?
What doesn't work

Thank you.. kind of funny because I promised myself I wouldn't be messing with my phone as much but.... lol. I just love MIUI so much
I personally think this build is pretty damn good.
FYI- I'm using franco's GB kernel found here
I set the gov to smartassv2, IO scheduler to noop
Here is a script I made to implement some tweaks for smartassv2
Script
And here is another for voodoo colors
voodoo colors
Those zips are not flashable! Extract them and have them run at boot with ROM Toolbox
Quadrant scores dont mean much, but I thought this was purdy good
Okay so I'm loving it so far. Only issue I'm having is wifi isn't working. Also i can't find the overclock controls. Other than that its pretty nice. I was running brainmasters version but it started tweaking and I was getting alot calls where people couldn't here me. Thx again

Fix permissions solved wifi issue or maybe it just needed to be restart.... who knows. Installed froncos kernel and downloaded nstools. Everything isknow perfect. Antutu bencmarked 3333. 1300 better than stock gingerbread so its good enough for me plus miui is overall more responsive than any other rom.

thx U like miui just not the support on there sites...
The lack of support is a little frustrating but hey they do an amazing job. I just hope with miui going open source our favorite modders can get the wimax working. That's really the only downside to these roms....
Thanks for this.
I've always been a fan of MIUI since my galaxy s days. It was heartbreaking to nab a ns4g to find that there wasn't much MIUI development. I'm hopeful that there will one day be a completely stable version. In the mean time, I will definitely be rocking this one.
Would definitely try this if it was ics.

I feel the same, except when I first got my ns4g MIUI development was really steady with great support. Idk what happened but to be honest its quite disheartening
StiffSpliff and Scott951 were the only people from miui.us who actually responded to my interest in porting for our device a few months ago when the updates stopped. But any other time I would ask anyone else a question on irc or PM I was treated like an asshole so whatever lol

I'm trying to apply your voodoo and smartass setting through rom toolbox. I extracted the files, located and opened the files through root browser in toolbox. Then I copied content/script of each and pasted in scripter of toolbox. After past, I set both to run at boot and then reboot the phone. This is my first time using rom toolbox so I'm not sure if it worked bu when I go into nstools or setcpu the setting don't appear to have changed. Also, the voodoo color settings don't appear to have been applied. Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
Edit:
I think I did it right. Opened script and identified setting commands. After I compared to setting, they all check out. I assume the numbers you hit were bc of OC/ liveOC.

I've never experienced gb personally. Went straight from froyo to ics as I bought my ns4g pre rooted. Mostly why I'm reluctant to flash this in the first place.
Despite really wanting to try miui. As I've only found out about it last week. From seeing the SwAT port and how good it looked.
If the mms problem gets fixed, I'll jump ship and flash. As mms is something I use frequently. But nfc and 4g, not so much.
And if I don't like it, that's what nandroid backups are for right?

I honestly don't use mms too much, but here's what I found out
You can send mms fine with the stock messaging app but can't download.
All you have to do is download a 3rd party messaging app from the market (I tested Go Sms) and you'll be able to download MMS that way. What I do is just force stop Go SMS service until I need to download a MMS, that way it's not constantly running and I only use it when I need to

I'm running it and it's working at least as well as CM9 (wifi working, a bit smoother, ...). There is only one problem : even with the USB plugged in, the battery keeps dropping down !

Not Working: Sound, video acceleration, mic, camera. Overall the rom seems pretty smooth besides the main bugs of course. Make a backup if you flash. Wifi seems to be working fine and the guy in the other thread that said charging was messed up must of had a bad flash or something cause charging works just fine here

Yeah, dont keep it on your TouchPad. Apparently the guy in the other thread left it overnight and woke up to a dead TouchPad. I guess not charging when plugged in is a missing feature in this. Thats why its a preview though. Meant more for flashing it, playing with it for a bit then going back to whatever you had before.

From what I understand, no hardware acceleration (or at least not fully) so things like games/YouTube dont work, no sound, no mic, no camera and I guess it doesnt charge when plugged in. Probably a list of other issues as well.
I was still running into some minor glitches after flashing cm10, so I restored back to the 7/30 nightly, which is running just right for me.
The glitches are minor, and I would probably use this if my 7/30 build wasn't close to perfect.
Again, thanks to the cyanogen guys that have made this possible. I look forward to installing cm10 after a few of the rough edges are taken care off.
Edit : Thanks to Big Simon for getting this thread started - go click the thanks button for him.

Idk man, shaffe.jr, is pretty much confirming my problem. When installing I FDR, formatted system and cache, installed, fixed permissions and booted. Just like I do with all fresh installs. I left it plugged in overnight, because it was showing a charge and I wanted to play with it more in the morning. I woke up with it still on, but showing 0 on battery. I thought that it couldn't be true, because charging symbol was still on. So I unplugged it, as soon as I took it out of the power input, it shut off and is now going through the whole mess of not recognizing charger. I know how to fix that (leave charger in anyways, and allow it to trickle charge slowly for many hours, then immediately boot to CWR).
If anyone else is noticing that problem, please speak up. I don't want this to happen to anyone else!
As far as smoothness, as someone stated in the Q&A, HW acceleration doesn't work. So, you're not going to experience project butter. There's pretty much no point in flashing this yet. I really regret not immediately reverting back to my backup.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
For what I've seen , sound, mic and camera are not working. Hardware acceleration is partially working : global UI is a lot smoother, games are no so fast.
Battery seems to be charging : when plugged on AC percentage are going up.
Nevertheless, I will switch back to the last CM9 nightly.

So I was thinking of trying this out just to see what its like. All I do is wipe data, cache and dalvik, flash rom and gapps, then when I want to go back to cm9, restore my nandroid? When I restore my nandroid, do I have to factory reset then restore nandroid? I'm just asking because with my phone, there's more steps when going from one kernel to another. Don't know if that all applies here though.
Edit: never mind. Doing some research. Lol

When I flashed it I did a nandroid backup, formatted the system partition, flashed rom and gapps, wiped dalvik and cache partitions, fixed permissions then rebooted just to see what would happen, it booted no problem and nearly all of my apps ran fine except ICS Browser+ for obvious reasons, then restored backup and everything is working just the way I left it.
BTW I'm using TWRP 2.2.0 recovery which formats the partitions as it restores them, can't remember if CWM does that.

OK. I was watching a video where he used ACMEinstaller. Maybe if I don't want to go that route, I'll try our TWRP. Heard it was pretty nice anyway. I'm not sure if CWR formats partitions either.
Just to be sure, this IS based on the 3.0x kernel, correct?

Been having horrible battery life lately and have been led to believe that the media server process is to blame. 8-12% battery usage on average and have searched and searched for a fix to no avail. Formatted SD twice, factory reset twice, and flashed back to Google's stock image to no avail. No idea what's causing it and it appears to randomly wake the device up from deep sleep every once in a while overnight. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Been having horrible battery life lately and have tried both paranoid and AOKP with the same results, 45 minutes of screen time on at 77 percent battery currently... I used to get 6+hours of screen time and now get about 3.5-4. This could be accountable to 'mediaserver'. No idea what it is or how to get rid of it but usually takes up 8-12% of battery. So far stock still produces the best battery life but it's still pretty bad. Any tablet ROMs that produce good battery life? Thanks for anyone's input!

Dude, it's pretty obvious that the problem lies not with your ROM, but with your 'media server' or any other processes that suck battery life. There are threads on the 'media server' battery issue that you might want to search for.

It was recently introduced. I remember not too long ago this wasn't an issue. Then out ta nowhere flashing a nightly it appeared. However I'm told it is things polling the sdcard for images or as the title suggests media. There really isn't a fix, that I new of or come across.

Already saw that one and that guy's problem had to do with a navigation app issue where mediaserver was constantly scanning the map files, which isn't my case. Thanks though man I appreciate your help.

My Solution
I have the Galaxy Note 2. My battery used to be at 40% after 15 hours of continuous use because the battery is 3,100mAh. One day I started noticing "Media" consuming 30-50% of my battery drain and the phone was always getting hot. I thought I solved the problem a couple days ago, but it came back and I couldn't figure out how to delete this post, so here's an update lol.
Things I've tried
I tried using Titanium Backup and Freezing "Media," "Downloads," and a couple of other apps/services/processes, but that usually had no effect, or just crashed other apps.
I tried downloading F5 Media Scanner and freezing my media scanner, but I got impatient and just uninstalled it. My media never showed up, and I didn't know what I was doing.
Some people said Google Play Music was causing it, but that only seemed to run "Media Service," not "Media." I disabled "Automatically cache" just to be sure. I guess I can re-enable it and monitor now.
I found a couple corrupted video and image files on my SD card. They might have been the cause? I used ES Explorer and noticed some pics and videos didn't have thumbnails generated... that's how I spotted them.
I also deleted a couple of "temp.43223523" files. They were some things I was downloading from the Internet browser, but I must have lost connection or something... and the files were left behind.
I tried renaming some of my pics that had ridiculously long names like "e62352_3423525.23542.jpg" to "pic34.jpg."
I moved all my Titanium backup files (1,300) and ROM backups to my computer and deleted them off my phone.
My Solution?
I placed an empty ".nomedia" file in every folder on my SDcard and ExtSD (and reboot phone). That seemed to actually solve the problem. I've been gradually deleting the .nomedia files with ES File Explorer (and rebooting). You have to enable "Show Hidden Files." Any file starting with a period is hidden.
When you reboot your phone, I think "Media" scans your SD card automatically. So this is how I investigated: 1. Reboot, 2. Charge the phone to 100%, 3. Unplug charger and periodically check my battery status.
Conclusion
The .nomedia solution seems to work when you reboot your phone and maybe clear your "Media Storage 4.1.1..PALJ1 (PLAYLISTS)" with Titanium Backup by hitting "Wipe Data." I enjoy the piece of mind knowing I don't have all these random pics and **** from various apps being scanned continuously at all hours of the day or on each reboot, cluttering up my gallery/playlists. If you're not going to use this solution, I might suggest limiting the number of files on your phone. Making several Titanium Backups resulted in 1,300 files probably being scanned a few times a day. I have 900+ pics and videos I've taken and 10gigs of videos downloaded on my phone and I think I solved my problem. Now my phone is cool to the touch and after 4 hours of use has only dropped 20%.
Create the file with notepad -> save as ".nomedia" or find it somewhere else on your memory card and copy/paste it.
