AT&T Galaxy s3 - Galaxy S III General (US Carriers)

We can use roms from the At&t galaxy s3, and vice versa, just thought I let everyone know. I'll be trying out sprint roms shortly, and verizon soon.
What works: Everything so far, even the rotation is fine (if you had a tmobile galaxy s2, you know what I mean)
What doesn't: Nothing that I'm aware of.
Issues: You have to go to titanium backup and disable at&t software update
Have fun!

Did u try and flash the att rom on the tmobile version?

What?

Yeah the rotation was always an issue with the skyrocket kernels. Glad we don't have that problem this time

If I flashed a T-Mobile Rom or radio on the att version will it work with tmobile 4G like the skyrocket did?

As of right now, no. The rom I flashed didn't change the radios.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2

Isn't the radio different from the absence of LTE?

This is great news just like the Galaxy S II days.

Can anyone confirm if one can flash a Tmobile radio onto the At&T version.
Reason: AT&T Galaxy S3 is $100 cheaper off contract.

Galaxy Tab Sprint users???

Is there a specific reason all custom roms are not for GT sprint users?. Thanks!!!
Sent from my SPH-P100 using XDA Premium App
If your asking why you cant flash a rom like overcome or something gsm
Each carrier has thier own crap on the tab plus there is a differance between types. Sprint is for instance cdma, while att is gsm. You can not flash a gsm rom on cdma. Breaks your tab.

Thanks for the info!! Is there a reason the DEVS only develop for gsm?
Bad news - most devs have gsm tabs. Personally I think this was a conspiracy that goes all the way to oboma. Good news - the one overclock and voodoo kernal we have is actually sweet as shiatzu. It is for vzn and sprint. Also the roms for vzn are very sound. Not sure about sprint there.

Galaxy Note on Simple Mobile.

I did a search and found nothing on the GT Note using simple Mobile.
Has anyone tried this as yet, and can you tell us what the speeds are like so far.
And what package did you go with.
Looks like they use T-Mobile's network, which means nothing over EDGE speeds.
I'm running one of the AT&T MVNOs on a trial basis and so far I have not been disappointed. I am loathe to give up my T-Mobile plan but unless there's a breakthrough in getting 1700/2100 AWS working on this thing I might have to make the move permanently.
AT&T GoPhone offers unlimited everything for $50 a month pay-as-you-go fyi.

Go phone sim cards are locked to the phone now. Unless you can convince AT&T to give you a new unlocked one it doesn't work.

I know this is old.....but just wanted to update it. I am using AT&T version with Simple Mobile now. The internet speed sucks big time. On speed test, i am consistently getting 25kb/s. With that speed, I am changing to the International Note next week....

You can flash a T-Mobile compatible modem on the AT&T version, if you're not aware.

So what are people doing now, then??
I want to goto 50$ month unlimited everything next month when my contract is up?
Is there a solution to STILL using ATT GO Phone plans with our GN7000's?
thanks.
You need Straight Talk with the AT&T sim.

What about this? As long as you aren't using any device which has ever been AT&T branded in any way shape or form (like an unlocked Note), this should work just fine!

3G 4g toggle

Is there a toggle in the AT&T version to switch from 3G to 4g.

Sure but it's such a basic function it should just be default. It actually IS default on most manufacturers stock roms, but AT&T actually removes it. For example, Canadian One XLs have the ability to turn LTE off. AT&T version does not. Absolutely ridiculous for AT&T to go out of its way to remove that feature.

You can change the apn to hspa only on like any custom

So it looks like you would be able to turn lte off when you connect to wifi? That would be great. If you have to configure it someone would have to tell me how to do it because i'm a ra-tard.

Canadian gs3

I'm getting a bell gs 3 and I am wondering if anyone knows of a good forum for Canadian variants. Do people mostly stick to these boards. AMD has anyone with a Canadian I747 tried rooting yet with the att root.

What carrier. Are you planning to root

Just got mine today too. No plans to root yet. Coming from a desire hd, this phone is awesome. I'm sure I'll get bored, and root it in a few weeks.

Got the bell version, model number is SGH-I747M, am pretty sure its the same as the AT&T version, and usually all the canadian gsm hardware is compatible with AT&T, inlcuidng 3g and hspa+/LTE frequencies
Picked up mine from Bell today, planning to root it for ad block and titanium back up etc
Are the 32gb Telus, Bell and Rogers ones released already or only 16gb?

I bought the 16 gb I747 s III and rooted it using a step by step tutorial from zedomax
Just go to galaxys3root .com and you there will be instructions for sprint/tmobile/at&t which are the same phones that the canadian carriers received.
Mine was from telus though.
Worked fine, should be no problems
Using this method, do you keep stock recovery. I want to root so I can use adb to pull stock kernel and stock recovery and i will make them into cwm zips.

thanks for the link. i'm gonna try rooting now to be able to use root explorer, setCPU (until kernel is modified), and titanium backup and restore the data of all my games & settings. i just got my phone yesterday without a preorder. got a 32gb pebble blue. can't wait for jellybean now... mainly for the fluidity and the offline maps.
---------- Post added at 11:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:54 AM ----------
never mind.. just found out offline google maps is already available for the s3. can only download 100MB of maps though.. still covers all of calgary and some.
Honestly im not sure. Im pretty sure that it changes the kernel though.

[Q] Google Play Edition for Sprint?

The Play store says that the GPe phone can work with sprint. Is that still the international version of the device? If so, does LTE work? I'm confused because we have the ROM, but we're still having trouble getting everything to work on our network.
Thanks everyone

No, it won't run on CDMA networks. Only for GSM networks. That is a reason as to why we are having such issues getting things to work properly on a ported version of S4 GE ROM. It WOULD be nice though.
