Ever accidentally touch the capacitive buttons or the screen while watching a video causing the UI to show up? Want to stop that from happening? Just press the power button and volume button at the same time and it will lock out the capacitive buttons and the screen so you can watch your videos without interruptions. :good:

Hi All,
My Wizard is set to turn the screen off after a minute of inactivity.
To get it back on, I have to press the power button.
I've checked in backlight and power settings and have it set to allow a screen tap to turn the backlight on, but it's not working - well, if the backlight's off but the screen's on it works ok, but I want a tap to turn the screen and the backlight on together. At the moment I have to press the power button, which upsets Pocket Player MP3 playback...or I can press a hardware button, but again, this tends to interrupt playback of music as all the buttons are mapped to something.
Seems a simple request, am I missing anything? This is under the Mr Clean ROM, if it makes a difference.

Once the screen goes off, the phone is "sleeping". The only way I know of to turn it on at this point is to tap the power button. To do what you want would be turn turn off the screen going into sleep mode, but that will come at the expense of your battery life. Start>Settings>Power>Advanced then uncheck the Turn off device under On Battery Power.
device lock(s)
A halfway solution, you could turn the screen off using the device lock app, which includes screen off. Then when you press the power button it only effects the screen and not anything which is running. The second one is very good for listening to music with, assuming you volume control button isn't broken like mine
I am looking for a way to detect when a button is pressed while the Android screen is locked. I would like to be able to pause and resume audio playback when the button is pressed, without making the user unlock the screen.
Does anyone know how to detect when a button is pressed while the Android screen is locked?
Fly screen is a lock screen replacement that will let you do this.
Does fly screen let you put the audio controls for the default audio player as a widget? I believe it only does for TunesWiki (which i believe is a really good player).
If you want to put the default player controls on lock screen, try Lock 2.0.
I left the camera on for a couple of minutes, took some pictures, and suddenly the screen didn't response to any touch, neither the capacitive buttons. There was a "lock icon" shown on the right top corner of the camera screen. I don't know whether I accidentally pressed something, but I couldn't get it back. Fortunately, the power button still worked, so I could turn the phone off and back on. Everything is fine now. It also happened once on my friends' Epic 4G.
If you hit the power button while the camera is active, it will lock it to prevent accidental screen presses.
Simply press the power button to unlock.

Got it. Thanks a lot.
Howdy,
I am trying to figure out how to "lock" the camera during a video recording. On my old Galaxy S, if I press the power button during vid record
then the camera would lock and pressing any buttons (except power again) or touching the screen would not affect the video being recorded. I cannot find this feature on my Note 3. During video record the power button just turns off the screen and inturn stops the recording. The screen is so close to the edge that holding it anywhere except by the edges seems to turn off or otherwise change the recording.
Anyone know how to to lock recording?
Cheers.
Hi,
I was wondering if you could disable capacitive buttons and have on screen buttons (that don't cover the apps) on this device without root? I have heard the buttons get pressed accidentally.
