bluetooth through OTG? - Kindle Fire General

Hey guys, just curious since I know the BT in the device is a bust would it be possible to get BT unning through an OTG cable and adapter. I was only thinking about this because i was going to try playing with an emulator and thought it would be neat to be able to use a real game controller.

Not possible, you'd need driver support in the ROM for specific hardware.

[Q] HDMI out

Hi all, I was looking at my shift, and even though it says it doesn't have video-out capabilities I see that the charging port is micro-hdmi. Is it possible to buy a micro-hdmi to hdmi cable and watch netflix and stuff on my TV?
That's micro-USB, not micro-hdmi. You use it to connect to your PC or Mac.

There is that samsung media streamer that got posted on the portal awhile back. That would be the only way I think, and it would require you have a compatible samsung tv. Or you might be able to use one of those google tv devices to stream from your phone (was that one of the features? I forget)
I use imedia share to stream to my samsung tv. Can stream things already on your phone but not netflix.

Don't think it will work for Netflix , but it does work for the other stuff on your phone. You can give THIS a try, see if it works for you.

[Q] OnLive Compatible?

Was just wondering if anyone had tried the OnLive Android client on this? It's obviously not officially supported yet, but there is a fair chance that it will work.
Thanks.

Thanks, was just thinking that I hadn't seen anyone run it on JB, and there may be some compatibility issue there.
Would still like to see if someone can actually get it running. I am tempted to pick up one of the universal controllers if I am sure it works well with this.
im getting onlive for sure! i just need to find a good controller for my tegra hd games.
Thought I'd bump this existing thread since the N7's are in a lot of people's hands now. Has anyone had a chance to try the controller yet?
I'm interested in getting a controller for my N7 and until the Nyko Android PlayPads are released. Thought this might be the best way to go in the meantime.
Cheers,
Kermee
I have just sold a brand new controller on eBay as I had two sent and they didn't want it back ?!? Very accommodating are on live ... lol
Have not used my on live yet but the N7 run games (in app) amazingly well.
I think On live will work just as good

I've used OnLive on the N7 - works great. I haven't got a controller for it though.
Same for me using it right now on Nexus7 to play Lego Batman and its working great!

This is a patched onlive app that allows any controller to work by default. Like sixaxis pps3.

I had previously bought an official receiver so that I could use my wireless Xbox controller to play games on my Windows PC.
Now I just plug the receiver into a USB OTG cable connected to my N7. Just tap the button on the receiver and the connect button on the controller, and job done. You can use the Xbox controller to navigate and play games.
Thanks for that information I'm waiting on my cable and ill try my wired xbox control I've already got the patched apk installed

OnLive and the official universal controller works great.

I am interested in this, can you explain more on your setup. What is the DL-165?. An asus docking station? There is a USB to HDMI video converter for sale in the fry's add today for only $12.99 that uses a displaylink driver.

DL-165 is a chip type of DisplayLink Adapter, known supported devices are DL-125,160,165 based devices.
That adapter costs me $30. Currently this is not suitable for daily use because it is too slow (1fps), I'm working on it.

Bluetooth dongle on MK808 (non-B)

So I have this MK808 that doesn't have bluetooth, but I have an IOgear USB dongle that has the Broadcom BCM2045 chip in it. Of course, it doesn't work when I try it. After a bit of googling, I found this website that has some dude getting it to work with something called a "Beagleboard" which seems to have similar specs as the MK808 (some differences).
http://antweb.me/index.php/blog-rea...-on-a-beagleboard-xm-running-android-ics.html
Any idea if those tricks will work on the stock MK808 ROM? Any idea if those mods are in any custom ROMs? Anyone want to try it out?
If not, I'll just return it and get the MK808B and be done with it. I figured that might help someone else, too.
Oh, and the USB BT dongle is the IOgear GBU221WM / GBU231WM if that helps. It's just a wrapper for that BCM2045 chip, though.
Majority of kernels/roms should have the bluetooth modules installed and working as standard now. Could always try flashing a new rom?
AFAIK this will NOT work.
Unless there has been a recent breakthrough. I have about 6 different Bluetooth USB adapters and tried everything from CM10 to Finless to MINIX Hybrid with various custom kernels.
I've found NO working combination. The drivers are there but something is failing. I've looked at logcats and watch it start and stop.
So I don't know. Hopefully one day because the lack of Bluetooth is annoying. I'd love to use my MOGA or PS3 with Bluetooth. I have a wireless 360 but I like the PS3 for emulators because of the good dpad.

The dongle I have (full-sized like Bluetooth 1.x?) doesn't work...
I think it depends on the Kernel modules/drivers?
