Dropped and scratched GS III, looking for replacement parts - Galaxy S III General

Yesterday I accidentally dropped and scratched my GS III and it's pretty bad. The battery door and the band around the side are pretty scratched up. I'm looking to purchase a new pebble blue battery door and the blue band that comes with it. Have you guys seen the band floating around ebay or somewhere else?
I'm totally pissed at myself as I only had the phone for a few days. I normally never drop phones either. Thanks for any help guys.

I purchase a lot of my OEM parts from this site:
http://cnn.cn/shop/samsung-i9300-galaxy-c-26_1412.html
I see a marble white back but don't see pebble blue right now. They might eventually have it though. You might try emailing to see if they will soon have any.
Side note: I love your avatar.

so far i have been looking and have found the white parts and the blue parts on some site that i was on......but the bumper you are speaking of( the edges of the phone right) this bumper is one peice with the screen. you have to buy the screen with the bumper which was around 249 i found the bumper for 49.00 but you have heat the screen up to get it off the original bumper and i have no idea how to adhear it back to the new bumper....but i will find the site hold up.]

Do you know how the installation process is? Is it complicated and a high chance of messing something up?

Okay I just watched the first half. I don't think he specifically showed how to take the screen and band off, or is that as far as you can go in the video?

No i have not found one that showed how to actually PULL the screen off. i have just done some reading and even he will say towards the end of the video about the heating of the screen.....and he also said that he may make one showing the method to getting it off and back on.
so thats the best i have found for right now.
my biggest concern is not getting the screen off the bumper but sticking back on the new one. i would know what to stick it with(superglue...lol) if i knew that part of it...i would do it no problem.

Wrong screen protector and it's on upside down.
of course its upsidedown? better some old screen protector than non.
Any one tips on touching up the plastic chrome edging.
Ouch. Looks like you have the wrong sized screen protector on - it looks the same as mine. Came with my Case-Mate, not sure why they provided the wrong protector. Maybe they hadn't produced the right ones yet and and thought the wrong size was better than nothing.
That my worst fear ..ouch
Too bad the didn't get rid of the crome and go all black like on the nexus s

get a black (not translucent) silicone case, and you are all set.
I did the same thing like second week I had my AT&T Captivate, did not bother me much. No phone is gonna stay scar-free forever

well if you want guys who have lots of paints, and who might be able to cover it, then try looking for one of them game workshop places, they have loads of paints in there and other stuff, I dropped a hd cam year ago and I passed by one of these shops and guy in there found a paint to cover it perfect.....just a thought
pray that the phone starts making awful noises and constantly reboots itself.
Then you have a reason to take it to Samsung repair centre.
The warranty i believe is 2years.
I ordered my cases from 2 ebay Us sellers and still haven't received them. Sad my phone from OK arrived first.

Fragile SG3

All these "I dropped my phone" threads is freaking me out.
Why is this phone is fragile? I've dropped my DX several times on Concrete even, it's still ticking along. Someone dropped GS3 30" in carpet floor and screen is f***up.
I'm picking up two GS3's tomorrow, but I'm terrified to use it. Haven't order a case yet. Should I looking into getting insurance? What's the best place to buy Ins. Tmobile store? SquareTrade? Esquared?
Only a few amount of broken phones compared to the millions that have already shipped worldwide isn't something you should panic about.
I think I have seen 3 or 4 total threads like that. Out of possibly 10 million devices sold and several thousand xda members, I think you're just worrying too mulch. Just be careful with your phone, don't worry about it too much.
I take my phone into the gym while I lift and its fallen out of my pocket a few times. Phone hasn't broken yet I'm not too worried about it being fragile
Well...it is a bigger screen. So that has something to do with it.
If it's that worrisome for you, put a nice case on it like an Otterbox or a Sylicrylic Dual Pro. No more worries
I watched the drop tests for the international version and saw how fragile it was so I bought a case before I even got mine. It went on before I even left T-mobile.

Seriously....is there some phone you can drop and not have it break that would cause you not to freak out then you should probably buy it!!!!!!
Right way!!!!!!

I feel my GS3 so fragile. So I ordered Otterbox Commuter for that.
My prior smartphone is a Samsung Captivate that feels stronger than GS3.
Mine actually fell off a 3' shelf today on a hard floor. I have just a cheap hard case on it but it took the brunt of the fall and not the phone. Luckily too it landed on the back. Ugh my commuter case can't get here fast enough

I dropped mine at work, right onto the tile, on the left back corner, from chest height and it literally put the two lightest scratches possible.
Nothing broke, nothing damaged, and scratches you wouldn't notice unless you're me and you know they're there.

Dust Under Screen?

Hi all,
Had my nexus 10 for about a few hours and already see dust under the screen.
I have not removed any of the plastic from the device at all even and has spent most of its time just charging on my desk.
Anyone else see this on theirs?

It is very unlikely that it is dust under the screen. Have you checked that it is not just dust / ding on the top screen protector that comes with the tablet? Remove that and check as most likely it is dust on that plastic screen protector on the top.
The display is bonded with the screen so it is highly unlikely that any gap is left for dust to get between front glass and screen.

People have reported that there is dust in the screen from the manufacturing process. But yes take the protector off first then report back.
It probably is, My first one had dust under the screen. If it was just under the screen protector you would most likely have a bubble.
I returned it and exchanged at a different Walmart.
I Peeled back the protector and could see it with the screen off. It was indeed a white spec of dust.

It's actually highly likely if it looks white with the screen off, but black when it's on. One of the 3 I'm waiting to return, has exactly this defect.
Either someone at Samsung's factory has dandruff, or they ran out of pledge.
Seriously though it's so common Samsung really need to get on top of whatever is causing it.

My understanding is it is pretty rare for samsungs to have dust under the screen due to optical lamination, which is why I was so confused / angry at the dust. Unacceptable for a tablet at this price point. Especially coming right out of the box and never having the plastic even taken off..
And this one sadly seems to have an imperfection in the glass itself. It's got a single spot that appears black, and when looking at it with the screen off you can see it, it's not white, but rather looks like a super tiny spec.
Hard to describe this, I have never seen a screen have it.. I tried hitting it with isopropyl but, it isn't on the top level, and looks inside the glass itself. You can see its reflection on the pixels with the screen off.
How odd.
Drove 40 minutes to find #3.
It has the same issue as the second, some kind of defect in the glass.
Think I am just going to return it instead of exchanging for more. It is obvious Samsung doesn't know what the hell they are doing.
Sad because I love the tablet.
The second and third devices I received both had dust in the screen.

Saddens me to hear that. I am probably going to keep trying again and again for a bit. Walmart in the first return screwed me by sending it back to gift card, so all exchanges now show the gift card as origional source. A refund is going to be a headache

The second one had at least 6 visible specks of dust under the screen and was sent back for that reason. My third unit has just one spot of dust which can be found when looking closely. Held at regular viewing distance you really need to look hard for it, so I'm keeping the device.

This is not a dust spec actually. It is something inside the glass. It looks like something that cured inside the glass and as I said, im likely to just keep bugging Walmart sadly. Wouldn't be so bad if they had a real stock of them to exchange.

Would a dead pixel bother you?
If not move along..
If yes then understand that this dust isn't just a clean freak issue worried about an untidy tablet
The dust shows as black dots on white backgrounds, much like a dead pixel. Considering most of the time you'll have a white background, it is very noticeable.
Acceptable on a £159 n7? Maybe?
On a £400 n10, no way.

That's been my point. If this was a Nexus 7 or on my old Kindle fire, I'd say well damn and move on. Heck my Rezound has a dust spec under the screen and I survive.
A brand new out of the box tablet that was 500 dollars? Yea, that's going back every time. Once dust is under the screen it almost always just gets worse and worse.
I just just my replacement Nexus 10. First one has a stuck pixel and some bad bleeding along the bottom right edge. Not horrible, but annoying.
Second one, the bleeding is better, but there's a HUGE dust particle stuck under the screen sitting on the panel.
It's MUCH more noticeable as on any time there's color on the screen, all you see is a black dot. The replacement is going back.
Honestly, as much as I love Android and the whole Nexus idea, the QC these companies put into the Nexus devices is horrific. I had to go through 3 N7's before I got one that had "acceptable" screen lift on the left side (and this one has a faulty light sensor that will turn the screen off when Auto-Brightness is on), and I'm now thinking about going for a 3rd Nexus 10. As nice as the tablet is, stuff like this gets REALLY annoying.
Is it true there no way to remove that spec of dust? Is the panel fused to the screen?

Walmart may be the problem. They don't get the highest quality of any product that's why they can sell it cheaper. One could imagine some of the stuff they sale barely passing the manufacturers quality assurance. Walmart would be the last place I would buy electronics. Go to any of the office stores for it. The quality will be better than at least Walmart and they stand behind the products they sell better. Most will go the length to make sure you walk away a satisfied customer. Best Buy is questionable too, just saw a video on youtube where the guy said his sealed box had half the contents missing. If that is at all possible and the AC adapter caused a wall fire. Still scratching my head on that one.
Dust inder glass
I too had this problem with two units (original and exchange) directly from the Google Play Store -- for now, the only way to get the Nexus 10 in Canada. Each had a rather large and unignorable speck of dust under the glass the near the middle of the screen. Since the glass and screen are fused this is obviously a manufacturing error on Samsung's part and, evidently, not an uncommon one.
The whole point of the Nexus 10 for me was the display and to have it so marred defeated the whole point of having one. I was so disgusted by the whole affair that I just returned the second one and have sworn off buying anything made by Samsung until I can stomach it. A hand-me-down Nexus 7 will serve my purposes for now -- at least I know it doesn't have any flaws.
This rather begs the question, is there a trend with Samsung where the first batch of the first generation of a new technology is defect-prone and then gets better later on or is shoddy quality assurance par for the course for the lifetime of a product? I don't buy tablets often (I'm still using an original Xoom) so I'm not quite sure how it goes.
I just noticed a dust speck under the screen after a month and a half ownership of this fantastic tablet. Now I just can't ignore it. I can't return it to staples at this point... will manufacturer warranty cover it?

We mixed it up a little! Black phone/white battery cover and vice versa!

My fiance and I originally tried to order the black Note 4s, but we could only order white at the time.
My white one was available last Thursday and all went smoothly but Best Buy made a mess of her
order so we ended up with a black N4 from Verizon for her. We then came up with the idea to swap
covers and we like the results. Now we're looking for clear cases that will accommodate the mic
holes on the Verizon N4 while still allowing us to appreciate our simple, yet beautiful & most likely not original
(though original to us) works of art.
PS I've never had a female share my taste in phones so this is the first time I've actually able to do
this. It's been a very bonding experience. LOLS! And she did not make me type this part.
I like it!
I'm doing the same but with a white spigen case on Black GN4.
I'm personally considering buying a gold frame to replace the black one once they are available on eBay.
Would be black with gold trim, very nice in my opinion.
Thanks! And you have good taste!

It's actually super easy to replace! If you watch a Note 4 disassembly video, you'll see that the aluminum frame can be replaced simply by unscrewing the back and undoing the clips. If you'd like to do the same, all you have to do is get a small screw driver and a guitar pick (or plastic knife, or whatever will undo the side plastic clip).
Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OReK7M_6zg0
This guy takes the whole thing apart, but you'll just need to watch up to 4:30 to see what I'm talking about.
This is also useful information for anyone who scratches their camera lens or dings up the frame and wants to replace it for resale or something.

Haven't done it yet- I can only find the part through authorized samsung part resellers at the moment and they are trying to charge $100 for it. I am waiting for the chinese manufacturers to sell straight from the factory ($10-15) on eBay. But it will be a direct replacement, super easy to do.

Guys just a quick update for anyone interested in a gold frame. It looks like this one is compatible with the Verizon Note 4...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261701823333
I determined this by downloading the image with entire inside of the frame visible (flat, not the side angle view), and scaling it on screen to the size of my note 4. I then lined it up and it looks like it fits the Verizon mic holes. I believe its because they are the same as the international [N910F] holes. For $60, it's still a bit too much for me, but for some people that really want a black/gold or white/gold look and are willing to pay a little bit for it, it's definitely a great option! Also, it will keep you from scratching the frame that came with the phone for better resale value later.
I haven't seen one that's compatible with the T-Mobile/AT&T version's holes yet. Will keep you all updated.
I did the exact same thing today. I don't use cases and wanted a different look on my Note. Actually wanted just the black back with "Samsung" on it but I found none on Amazon that would let me use my Prime and I have need for instant gratification. So, I went with the black Verizon back on my Frost White Verizon Note. LOVE IT!
Thanks for posting this! I was really curious to see how it would like and it turns out it actually looks quite nice!

Screen has a slight curve or dent by corners?

I was OK with the top speaker being louder than the bottom, it still sounded pretty good and was nice and loud....
I'm OK with the screen having, what some people refer to as a "pink" or "green/yellow" hue to it... It's a gorgeous screen and unless I'm looking at it at an angle, it is fine.
Over the weekend I tried 3 different tempered glass screen protectors on it, and none of them would stick to the bottom right corner. I then read where some people had a "dent" or curve on the corners of their glass screen that was only really visible when you looked at a reflection in the glass...... Sure enough, my bottom right corner has a pretty good "distorted" image in the reflection. I can't see it or feel it when looking directly at the screen, but the reflection really shows it has an indention in it.
I spoke to Google and they are exchanging my phone for a new one.... I guess I'll examine it when it comes and chose the one that has the least defects? I love this phone and can live with a few little quirks, so I'm not ready to give up it just yet.
I have the same issue (top right corner), I have already unlocked, rooted the phone and I find it too much trouble to put everything back to stock and request a replacement. I don't know if they would send me a new or used unit. I have already purchased a plastic screen protector (haven't received it yet) and hoping that it would stick to the warped corner better than glass.
How the heck can one figure out there is a bump dent on one of the corners of the screen... Try to purchase good screen protectors may be?

I just got a replacement supershieldz TGSP but I am not going to put it on. I know that since the problem is with the screen it won't fit either. Originally I had requested for a refund but seller thought I am asking for a refund due to it not having proximity sensor cutouts. I am not seeing any point in putting it on and finding out that it has the same issue where one end sticks up and separates from the screen. I am now in search of a plastic protector preferably wet application so that its flexible enough to stay put.

The screen appears to be a little more "flat".... But my TSGP is already in the trash and the replacement isn't here until Friday or Monday, so I won't know how it fits until then.

Thanks all! I find it is good to have this info for people worried about how replacements are handled. I appreciate it.

Yeah, my replacement 6P is gonna be here tomorrow... If the TGSP doesn't work, then I'll just keep it and put a "wet", flexible screen protector on it as well.

How long did it take them to ship the new one and did you have to pay shipping or was it free?

It took 4 days to process and then it was over-nighted at no additional charge.. About 6 days total.... My 2nd replacement was ordered on Saturday morning and shipped out today, FedEx ground at no charge.
2nd replacement is due to a lose component inside rattling around.

I just got a replacement supershieldz TGSP but I am not going to put it on. ...
... I am now in search of a plastic protector preferably wet application so that its flexible enough to stay put.

I just wanted to share some updates. I tried a wet application Skinomi on my phone. they must have changed the formula of their plastic as its too soft now. Every time I hit the screen with something (fingernail, keys or anything else) it would leave a permanent dent on the screen protector that would not heal even after many days. I didn't see this behavior back when I had Nexus 5 with Skinomi applied on it.
Anyways, since I mentioned before that I did get a replacement TGSP from Supershieldz and never used it. Tonight I put it on the phone and to my surprise it sticks to the screen fully covering it 100%. Even the dented area is showing sticking unlike before. I don't know what changed but my phone screen is definitely the same.
Just wanted to share it in case if anybody else with dented screen doesn't wanna try a TGSP, give it another shot you might get lucky like me.
