It is possible to get it working by side loading a hack verson of google wallet as i did it and it worked but you have to have cm9 ! Which the atnt verson doesnt have yet.

Root should be sufficient to have the hacked version of Google Wallet working, a custom rom like CM9 should be completely unnecessary.

the only carrier to support Google Wallet is Sprint. you have NFC capability which you can use to use a hacked Google wallet but no AT&T supported Google Wallet.

Thats what i thought but you get stuck on the initializing device stage. Well It is the international version i have so try it on your and lets get the free 10 dollars to as many people as possible . On another note... be EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS when using wallet as if you do not delete the data from within the application (not in app manager) you will render your secure element unusable as thats what i did to mine and am currently in the process of RMAing my phone.

You get that error as soon as you load it. In other words, it shuts down as soon as you run it.
How secure or trustworthy is the hacked version?

So you may have noticed that the latest OTA brought us wallet on the n7. Is this usable considering we don't necessarily have data while shopping at a store? Does wallet require data?

does a credit card require data? all it has to do is mimic the rfid signature that the wireless credit cards use.
*Edit* not meant to be as snarky as I just realised it sounds.

I've been using Wallet since the day I got it at I/O and now you don't need data to use it. The NFC chip "remembers" the last balance on your account when you had a data connection on the device.

I can see maybe using google wallet on n7 maybe at a coffee shop and that's about it. It just seems weird waving a tablet to pay for something, seems better with a phone maybe.

That's because you're rooted
It will still work, but Google plasters the disclaimer in the app.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
those of yall that are rooted remember to go into the settings in the google wallet app and reset it before you flash a new rom. you have to actually do this from in the app, not titanium or anyway else, from inside the app. there is a risk that you will bork your nfc( just for wallet purposes, not for android beam). i forgot to do that a few times when i flashed a new rom on my evo and everything is still fine for me. but yea seriously this is posted anywhere that google wallet was posted in the evo lte forums. im not sure of the validity of this but something yall should look into it. happy spending

Yes. I got it although it took a while to activate the prepaid card through Google. Eventually it worked though.

Actually...I signed into google wallet on my N7 (with the same Google credentials) and have a balance of $10 whereas my gnex has the balance from the 50 that I added of 32.XX. It appears to be two independent google wallet prepaid cards.

It's device specific, your Google account is only there for account protection. I have gotten the $10 credit on a Nexus S, VZW GNex, and a GSM Gnex

Yeah, that's kind of what I noticed too. Already had Wallet on my GS3 and the $10 prepaid card on that. Activated Wallet on my Nexus 7 just now and it appears to have it's own $10 prepaid card too. One odd thing did happen to me though: activating Wallet on my Nexus 7 appears to have deactivated my Citi card from my Wallet account on my GS3. Anyone else with similar experience?
i just have a quick question does the google wallet work even if you are not connected to wifi?
Yeah it does! Or it wouldn't be very useful would it

Alright since i do not have a credit card, and my maestro doesnt work for online payments,
i supose i dont have any solution left to get myself apps at all.
google doesnt let ppl in sweden to use prepaid google play giftcards, nor prepaid visa/mastercards such as spendon cuz on that last one your name have to be the same on the card as on your account. furthermore, since i live in sweden, paypal does not apply to me either since they only issue a card in the USA. so now what? is there any oher solution that can be done?

You know that was a really constructive reply man.. really..
If you have a phone that is linked to the same Google account as your tablet, purchase the app on your phone through whichever payment you usually use. After it's purchased, you can then download and install the purchased app on any device linked to your Google account. Alternately, go to the Play Store through your regular browser, and purchase through there.. push to your device, and you're good to go.

Are there any pre-payment cards available in your country you could use online in the same manner as a credit card?
EDIT refer to this thread on the same theme [add the three w`s to the address]

My suggestion is get a credit card but request a limit.. When first got my credit card I had 5k limit, I told them make it 500. This helps control your spending

If Google is rejecting your prepaid card because the name doesn't match, maybe you should solve that problem instead? Are you sure a regular card wouldn't have the same restriction?

Doubt it. NFC only works on CDMA Note II, and Verizon version blocked it. Verizon wants to launch it's own system to do it. You will most likely have to get a hacked APK.

Remember GW recently updated to have a non-NFC version available to pretty much any Android phone. However, only the Nexus phones and I believe recent Sprint phones support NFC payments in store.
Some folks using different Xposed modules have been able to get it to work on their ATT or Tmobile phones, but for the non-modded community, it's generally been no.
So I wouldn't expect it to work out of the box. You'll need to use Isis most likely.

I was referring to Note II handsets.
T-Mobile has disabled the use of Google Wallet on ALL THEIR PHONES in favor of ISIS. I'm sure there will be a work around sooner or later but out the box you will not have GW access.
I have been searching high and low for a rom that will allow wallet and Isis. Malladus allows Isis but not wallet tap and pay. AOKP and PA allow wallet tap and pay but Isis will not install. Since KK has the ability to choose your tap and pay solution there has to be a way to get them both functioning. Any ideas?

Thanks, but by ROM I meant custom ROM. Thought that was obvious enough that it didn't need to be stated. Isis works for everyone on stock.
