It doesn't look good. This Galaxy S III apparently malfunctioned while in an in-car holster, causing some substantial melting and burn marks across the lower half of the device. The global HSPA+ iteration of Samsung's new flagship apparently sparked into white flames, followed by a bang. While it's certainly not the first smartphone to implode in transit, the damage -- along the base but separate to the charging port -- looks pretty substantial and although the screen still apparently worked, reception was dead. The phone has been whisked off to a repair center through phone retailer Carphone Warehouse for the full autopsy. User dillo2k10 was left unscathed, but it's apparently left some nasty molten plastic remains on the inside of his car.

I dropped my evo a few weeks ago and chipped the bottom-left corner of the glass. It still works fine but with the E3D right around the corner I decided it was time to call in for a replacement so I have a good one to sell when I get the 3D. Lucky me.. they sent me a new one, not a refurb
Before they turn my phone into a viable refurb they're going to have to replace the screen so before I send the old one back I intend to find out just how much damage the screen can take.
I've horrified a few people here, showing them the screen needs no protection by TRYING to scratch it with knives, screws, keys, coins, etc..
I'm going to take some video of the forthcoming torture but am open to suggestions before I begin
This is the current state of my evo:

do you have access to any gunpowder?
I was thinking tit would be interesting to see you cut a little line of gunpowder, like a line of... you know, some other powdery substance someone might arrange on a glass surface...
And light it up!
slide it face down in the street. there maybe glass in the street.
Take a diamond to it lol

Someone at work dropped their EVO and busted the screen so I told them I would try to replace it, I bought a screen off ebay but didn't see any differentiation between the screens so I just bought a random one. I read afterward that there are 2 different types of screens?
She has a Ver. 004
Gotta open it up. There's 2 different connectors, and small one and a large one. If you don't have right size connector for phone, then you wasted that purchase.

yup, the only way to tell is to open it up and look

Lol fml! My screen bit the big one today. Found screen with bezel on eBay for 50 shipped. Already popped open evo once to play with its insides and found out its the small flex cable. I'll take pic for you to show what it looks like in case you wanna do it yourself. But on the other end, if you file insurance claim, you have good chance of getting evo 3d as asurion is bout depleted with og evos.

I got my Razr HD today, and one thing I noticed is that the ear piece Motorola logo on my device is slanted.. it appears that it slants downwards towards the left, and the earpiece doesn't look straight.. Take a look at the pic below and you'll see what I mean.. the left dips and the space isn't the same as the right.. kind of hard to capture with flash on a camera.. let me know if yours is like this.

Never would have noticed this unless you said something. Lol yea mine appears to be *slightly tilted down and left.

Either mine doesn't have the slant, or it's so minimal that it can't be seen without some sort of microscopic measurement. Honestly, I don't see it in the pic either, but it could be a combination of my bad eyes and the glare in the pic from the flash.
Return / exchange it if it bothers you.
I kept having that idea before you mentioned it.... and now that I see your post, it all makes sense lol.... its not that bad though, hardly noticeable, keeping it! lol
Mine is not crooked, but the speaker is a dust trap and for that matter so is the mic at the bottom... small annoyance

Right now I plan on getting the HTC One from TMobile on the 24th when it's released but I read an article (http://www.technobuffalo.com/2013/04/15/pantech-vega-iron-announcement/) and it mentions the Pantech Vega Iron which sounds A LOT like the SGS4, but with the SnapDragon 800 chip!
Has anyone heard anything about this phone or know how it might compare to the HTC One? Will the 800 chip (if it gets it) make that big of a performance/battery boost over the HTC One/S4?
Just trying to see if anyone has any other info about this phone and how it'd compare to the beauty of the HTC One
Pantech? Hah

So my wife updated her Edge on Friday and the battery was draining like crazy. She complained about it being too hot as well. Sure enough I plugged it in and rested it on top of a cold drink. Didn't want my house to burn down so we charged it in the morning instead. Funny thing is, my Edge didn't charge last night even though it was sitting on the official Galaxy S7 wireless charger.
What's worse is the Green Line burned in and now has a faded spot where the line sometimes disappears.

I had that happen to me on my s6 after dropping it. The screen didnt crack or break so Tmobile covered it
Yea take it in, but they will prob want samsung to take care of it
T-mobile warranty doesn't normally involve Samsung.
Yup. T-Mobile is great about warranty exchanges. They've always just sent me a replacement phone with a return label for the broken phone.
