Links on new Site

Ok Alldroid apparently self imploded and it ended up restarting from the ground up, so in the process they "lost" all their data with Rom's and what not. While helping a friend with his Moto Droid I took the opportunity to spread The Developers work to more users and started a post with all props and links to XDA for info and dl links to Roms currently here.
I hope this doesn't upset anyone, I made an assumption that with props and linking to your work directly would be ok.
Let me know if you don't want it up on the site or if I missed someone that was contributing.
I did the stupid poll before there was an 11th Rom and I can't delete it or add any more. Sorry I am not choosing favorites. Currently working on removing it.

Won't lie I was really freaking out that I was going to get flamed for this...Just wanted to do my part and spread the Rom joy. Plus I got the poll off hope remaking a thread didn't kill the link but will fix if so.

DEVs - You've been called upon to remove an app!

This is quoted from the developer of SetCPU and his thread:
ROM developers: I became aware of a number of devs who are now bundling this version of SetCPU with ROMs. For now, do not include SetCPU with your ROM. If it is in your ROM, please remove it. I'm probably going to find out a solution to this but barely anyone is giving (enough) credit or mentioning that it's also in the Market, and on top of that, they are putting their own donate links in there (the worst offenders do not give credit at all). Most devs are putting the APK in /system/app making purchasing (donating!) and upgrading SetCPU difficult, and rendering the one time donate link useless. That's a kick in the face to me. No dev has bothered to ask me for permission. It's really irritating me - SetCPU has been a huge effort, it's older than most of your ROMs (look at the date of this topic, look at how many times it's been updated - this isn't even the full changelog), and I would like people to at least read this thread.

Yeah, this is a very good app. .. I had no promblem getting the paid version after useing it compared to the overclock widget

Unless this is a PAID APP there is no reason anyone can't use it any way they see fit. This is an open source community, which means there are no requirements to give credit, that is a courtesy. I agree that they should you give you credit, but you have no right to say they can't use it.

If u look in the market it is a paid app. On xda he gives it out for free but respectfully asks that since its a paid app he shares here for free then he would like people to be directed to his page to get it. Makes sense to me. There is a lot of info on his page and u find out who made it and how to use it.

First off, this is another bad call by mods toi move this to a general section when out of respect for the developer of the app, it was posted in he development section since it is directly affecting ROMs that are being made.
I agree it should be sitewide but that's not my business.
In response to you, chfields, I really hope you're not directing that response to me personally. I am not the one who made the original post. I made this post so the guys here who make ROMs can respect a man's wishes. Simple as that.

I am well. I posted it after he posted about it on Twitter. However, I got some jerks that posted on mine saying that I was just trying to stir up trouble and stuff...I am not..I just want people to be recognized for their work. He updates often and works hard. OC widget gets updated once every 6 months. How are you doing?

I am on top of the world and ready to help people out wherever I can! Thanks for asking. I think people might feel like I am trying to stir trouble too but trays not the case. When the guy posts something like that, attention needs brought to it. Know what I mean?

What are the rules about posting other peoples work, i.e. ROMS and themes? Im not sure but I see over in other forums, like the EVO for example where 5 people are making ROMS using a base that they give credit to one guy for. I only ask this because over here in the D2 section, there is only 3-4 different groups working on stuff, everyone is tight lipped and not willing to let anyone in on the "secret". I see random posts where it says that the source for the base of ALL these ROMS is open, meaning ANYONE should have access, and ANYONE should be able to do as they please with them. I know that is not the case and it comes down to who you know, just like anywhere else in life, but I think the community is only being held back because we only have those select few working on new stuff....DONT get me wrong, all the devs. are doing amazing work for us D2 users, I just think we are being limited alot. I sent a pm to one dev in particular asking him to release a variant of his themes with the ApeX flip and fly out transition animations added. They are really cool and they compliment his ROMS well. I even got permission from some others to use those. I not only didnt get a response, but when I pm'd him askin why he hadnt responded, he said he never got it, (I still have it in my outbox). I just think it would be cool to have, say, a Fission Blackout ROM with the blackout Swype and android keyboard, and the cool transitions from ApeX, and only have to flash one zip in recovery. Im just sayin. Im not being ungrateful so please dont tear me apart, just puttin it out there

Please Read! (My sentiments)

This is what Ive noticed, especially when there are some new update for modules and ROM's;
1. A massive repeated posting regarding new updates.
Its not that we dont want to help you guy's who has difficulties installing ROMs/Module to your phone, but please before posting new topic make sure you consult SEARCH button first, then if you dont find any answer thru searching then its the time to consult. I dont know if we are just lazy to search or what. This is all for us to have a well organized Section and for us to find topic easily. Isnt great to have a single thread so that newbie will not have to search back and post a new topic with already answered one? As you can see Forum for X8 and other are already Categorized, so please post in the right section. Some user made an effort already to organize the topics by making a FAQ with it, so i suggest we should use it for general concern about specific topic. Maybe we can control this massive posting by just dont answering there query if we knew that there question already been answered. Hmm dont think that's rude but i think it will help. Coz if we answer it, they will keep on doing that all over again if they encounter another problem. I also admit that I did this sometime thats why if you could notice i use "we". And i want to change it.
2. Flamming
also known as bashing, is hostile and insulting interaction between Internet users. It is clearly noticeable, that we argue in certain things, but please not to the point that we are already fighting/degrading and hurting someone's feeling so please RESPECT each other, If your good/great then be it, but we have to welcome a newbie gracefully, lets make them feels that they were home and accepted. Im sure we once get here clueless about things or if not, not so knowledgeable enough, we are not in a competition here and we don't question your greatness and knowledge, were proud of it. This is a training ground not a battle ground. Were here to have a harmonious relationship with others, besides we are all FAMILY here. I know for some reason that we just dont stay here to get what we want to our phone, but simply to help each other.
3. Patience
I know it is good to have all what we want, but please stop forcing/requesting repeatedly to our developer, we didnt hired them to work for us, besides they are sharing there work for FREE, and even they ask for some donations, well they have the right to do so, as they are working for us. Imagine if all our developer will be get hired by SE and charge us for all their great work. They will have a better career there, and what do you think will happened to us who are just benefited by there free work? Think of that. So please let's be patient, extend your patience give all there time to find the solution. BTW reporting bugs is different from asking/requesting. It just make our dev's annoyed and might lose interest to work for our many cries. They want to give us a stable home for our phone and they knew about that, so we dont have to tell them what to do, well in fact they know more than you do.
These are just some of my observation. Dont get me wrong here coz its for the common good. I may not give you any ROM,s or Module but i can give you Life Lesson and Love. And if you will hate me for this, well sorry but i will just love you and hug you until such time you realize what I am saying here.
Isn't it great to have a good relationship with everyone and i doubt that you don't feel something when you help someone! I just dont get ROM, Modules and learning here, the most important I gained friends!

Well i think its normal for them to ask, coz we the user use more our phone than they do. It will took them sometime to release a ROM is they will test every single function in there work. There work is to provide us the ROM/Modules. If they asked us to look for bugs, then that's also the time for us to work, in return with there great work. Coz i know that they will stop developing if we dont tell them about the problem we encountered. Besides they also get idea's to us. Many heads are better than One. And this is also what you called helping hands. Give and Take process not Take and Take (that's a bad idea) .. wink. oh btw I love ya too.

I agree with this thread and i have add one thing for all X8 users:
I daily check some forums (not only x8) and what i mostly see is people that reply to newbie posts in a rude and useless way, we all hate double posts, no search, requests, stupid posts but keep in mind that when you reply " yo, arent you able to use search ?" "use the dammit search!" , these are posts count at my eyes and rude replies.( i hate them )
If you find that someone did the same post over and over, if someone didn't use the search button or whatever, just ignore to reply and pm or report me and i will do something.

I think they will not delete it without a reason or purpose. Maybe your post was against the rules (i dont know), but im pretty sure Mod's here has its reason, and if it doesnt abuse/break rules then you can consult our moderators. Im pretty sure that they will give time to listen to your query or statement. Remember that they were chosen well and proved enough to be helpful. I think no mods here are using there power as a reason.
I firmly believes in the power of reason, not in the use of power/force as a reason.
Edited: GHoSTABUD, i see the one you posted, htc MT driver that uses synaptic right? Thats promising and pretty useful in the future i think.

I totally agree with you, If we dont have something good to say nor help better we keep our mouth shut, coz words is extremely hurtful. We encourage newbie to learn so that one day they will contribute to us, not discourage them because of our rude manners. I always say this, make them feel at home. Coz were once a newbie too.

There should really be a separate thread for each rom opened up where all the bugs noticed and reported back in the development thread will get addressed with the solution.

Yes and this will organize everything.

That's a nice idea indeed.
You only need someone that take care of the thread while copying all reported bugs and fixes from the thread to the first page, otherwise it will be difficult to track bugs.

No worrie man, i didn't take it as an offence .....sometimes mods are seen as cops and you are not happy when you got an infraction from them
Anyway if you will find that it is a driver or something related to development, you can make a thread in dev forum:
_ give proper how to install
_ give credit where it's right
_ dont post any help questions
and you are done.

I'm not going to comment on the obama part. Politics is the fastest way to start flaming and other things on an open public forum. So I kindly ask you to leave politics out of EVERYTHING. (I am completely omitted from the following statements, as I'm not in any part a dev) As far as my expectations, they are MUCH higher than is occuring on these forums these days. These amazing teams make these roms/tools/and mods and are just insulted. Dev's don't need to be saying the same thing over and over again because some person that neglected to read the OP, the stickies, or use the search function (or google) to find the simple answer. This goes the same for PM'ing said dev's for the same things. This includes people wanting dev's to essentially make a PRIVATE BUILD for some individual because they are too lazy, too afraid to try, or just don't care to bother with making their own rom. Don't like 1 thing in someone's rom? Don't use it. Or learn to do/undo what is done that you do/don't like! Its very simple, especially if I can pull off putting a rom together from various mods from AMAZING dev's. I simply lost my patience, I'll go back to lurking the forums and continue my own builds privately. I certainly applaud the retired dev's I see hanging around that do just that. I understand the situation, to the extent that my rom was that of a mustard seed to the rest of these awesome guys. But I feel I understand, I see xda in a different light now, and I simply don't like it. THAT is why I had to adress this. Was this explosion post my intention? No. I would rather a coming dev/user know whats wrong and why, then get sideswiped by a good number of the users here and wonder where it came from. Honesty is the best policy my good sir.
I DEEPLY APOLOGIZE for echoe team for this going on in your thread. You do amazing work! I certainly appreciate everything you have done here at XDA and even now what you don't! You are the bigger men in the situation that has occurred and you are still here. Kudos for sure. Big thanks!

@millerboy I agreed with you. Used all the resource out there... ask when you exhausted all the resources... Personally I don't like private message.. I ignore other when they message me .... I attempted many times but no success (no a smart person when come to code).

Guys take the comments to pm and keep this thread clear. This ROM is so sweet, I've been running it since lunchtime. you guys should really give it a try.<br/>

Just came by to say it's up... a bit late lol you all already know :good:
Seems like it's the same on every device. It starts nice and as soon as a device hits a certain number of owners (the mass market) the childish posts start. I can understand everyone who has been a victim of this and I think it has to be talked about. It is destroying a great platform... but as for now it is what it is.

I'm not sure. But if you look in settings under echo rom settings there is a ton of tw themes you can dl

I just see some TW launcher themes..... Like is there a way to shut off data speed in the status bar...?
