I just got my broken charger replaced so I haven't really been following development. Which ICS rom is best developed and gives the best performance and experience?

so ive been runnning ics roms for awhile now (since one of the first functioning cm9 builds were out), and im not new to flashing. but im a little unsure what i should be running that will fit my needs the best. im running slimics 3.7 right now with its stock kernel, and its great, if you get rid of their 'stock launcher' and change the screen settings, i just feel like i could be getting more. ive heard wonderful things about dark knights rom, but havent had a good experience and i dont know if its due to me flashing improperly. i started out on icssgs and it did me well....i just find slim a but of a step above (my opinion of course). but i find slim releases their updates before many apps become available to it. im just a regular user, i use facebook and web alot, and of course text, and camera, i also desire as much battery life as possible (of course) while running the best performance with what i need. Are there any suggestions for me out there for a rom/kernel combination?
Hi,
Did you already try MNICS kernel with SlimICS ?
I've got the best user experience with this combo.

+1.....mnics is a great basic kernel designed for everyday use, with a specially tweaked conservative governor for smooth ui experience, and good battery too

Hi people. May I know what do you think is the best rom /kernel that gives you the strongest battery life? Best rom/kernel that makes your phone very fast?
Best SGS ROM/kernel?

I personally use RemICS-UX v.1.3beta, and find this very satisfactory.
The question is not an easy one to answer, since many factors come into play. What services do you have running? What apps are you using? What do you use your SGS for? And so on...
And at the end of the day, does the ROM you are using give you what you need on a day to day basis? Do you want TouchWiz? Or do you want a minimalist approach? Does it matter to you if certain functions aren't yet implemented on a particular ROM? You have to be happy and comfortable with what you are using! RemICS-UX has given my old SGS - and me - a new lease of life!
I find the battery life very good for what I want. Nevertheless, I always carry a charged Dexim power pack with me!
The speed of my SGS is good. There is an option to set the governor: I keep mine at 'on-demand', which seems to be a good compromise. But if you want 1.4 quad-core speed, then you are going to have to shell out for a new phone!
In ROMs/kernels - as in life - a balance has to be struck. So see what others have to say; look at the current popular ROMs; see what difficulties people are experiencing on a particular ROM forum. And don't be afraid to try out different ROMs and see what suits you.
EDIT: go to the Android Development section and see what is available: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=665. The journey is as enjoyable as the arrival!!
ICS roms are really enjoyable but I have found them more battery greedy for a daily use than Gingerbread (3g and GPS especially consume more battery on Ics)
I have come back to Gingerbread recently (JW6), good old Samsung firmwares will always be more responsive and energy-efficient than custom ICS roms to me (if well used of course)

I want to know the best combination Rom, kernel, tweaks and other to get the best performance, and the best combination with the cm
Well I have been running Nameless v3 for the last 2 weeks and their optimizer is absolutely brilliant. Its by far the fastest, smoothest, stable and battery friendly rom I have used on my Note 4 (F) and I have tried EVERY rom available on XDA.
Id give it a shot
Currently on a Standard Rooted Touchwiz 6.0.1 Port Rom (basically S5 rom, very stable and s pen and everything works.).
I was wondering if there is any other rom that is great/better for gaming and general usage. I don't mind touchwiz or pure android...
I think for more performance without tweaking the kernel much, your best choice would be going for AOSP ROMs like RRN or LineageOS. Stock Android ROMs tend to offer much more performance (at the cost of battery especially while gaming) with stock settings. Both of the two mentioned ROMs are stable enough for general usage (I've used both of them for weeks and months and had no issues whatsoever).
If you want to stay with a TouchWiz based ROM, best choices (but not limited to these only) would be MagMa NX ROM, Aspire ROM along with the Phantom kernel. Phantom kernel at it's new releases offer great stability and best combination of battery life and performance.
My advice would be this: Try each one of them out. Trying period should last at least 2 days so that the ROM and kernel can settle down. Then you should be able to decide which one suits your needs best
All the best in experimenting!

I do prefer Aspire ROM with tweaked gugu0Das kernel, maybe it's not that stable as not tweaked one, but offers the best performance. For example AspireROM+gugu0dasTW + Real Racing 3 on High works perfect.
But if you want something more stable, then do like @grumpycoder100 said, that would be the best choice then.
And do try each one of them, because it depends from you which one will have the best performance in your opinion.
Best regards!
Firstly, Good job keeping and sticking with this OP2 device ! You are truly something.
QUESTION : From all the Oreo Roms available, which has been your favourite combination of Rom and kernel, mainly aimed at battery life and maximum stability ? Keep in mind that this question is posed towards your opinion and YOURS ONLY. Just because you seen someone saying that it's the best, shouldn't be your combination choice.
Cosmic and bb
The new pixel rom has been amazing so far... good battery SOT and smooth rom.

Tried all Oreo Roms except Cosmic. The most I enjoyed AOS Illusion Project with BlueBolt kernel for the reasons you mentioned. Stable, good battery life and enough customisability.
