[Q] official HTC HD2 wm6.5 Rom From htc.com? - HD2 General

hi friends
i went to HTC.com to download latest Winmo6.5 for my HTC HD2
i know its discontinued for a while but i want the latest developed ROM from HTC that suits my phones serial number
and unfortunately it seems HTC.com does not allow me to download any rom from my region(middle east).
it was 1.66 before and can anyone tell me how can i download it from HTC.com based on my phones serial number as before?
thanks

I know you want to download the ROM from HTC but HTC is probably phasing out the HD2 now. So to be honest you best bet is search through the Windows Mobile Development forum and find the couple of threads that have all the stock Windows Mobie ROMs linked in them. Hopefully they were not hosted on Megaupload and will still be valid links. I will have a look for you as well and see if I can find a 1.66 ROM for your device. Also your device may not have come from your region so that could be why it is not letting you download with the info you input from your device. But if you are positive it came from your region then that is another clue HTC is phasing out the HD2.
I don't know your exact location but you can have a look at the 1.66 ROMs in the OP of this thread.

thanks for your kindly attention, the problem is i have an HD2 branded by sktelecom, i think it is from south korea, and i am from Iran, i cant install any rom on it, i just need to find a proper rom by its serial number, and i saw that thread before. and it was so helpful.
so now that your are acknowledging that HTC.com is not usefull any more i thing i should test some random rom.
anyway thanks again

Have a look at this thread, it might help you find the correct stock ROM for your device.

SK telecomm ROMs are not great & as you in Iran I would of thought you would be best going for a standard WWE ROM or better option of a custom 6.5.3 WM build from NRG or Artemis.
has the HD2 been sim unlocked as SK lock them down tight & code unlocking is not an option so normally done via cable & software & if so could be CID & security unlocked too.
I would get HSPL2.08 on it & go custom NRg as runs & looks great even compared to best standard, Artemis ROMs are also very good WM options.
Android could also be an option & perhaps offer better native language options !

Here you can find old 1.66 official ROMs based on serial. Also all new 3.14 for almost every language

yes but the problem is that i cant install any radio to it, it stuck on 96%
so i just wanted to test the original rom and install in from sdcard by nbh file

Mmm I do remember having issues with other radios flashing on a SK touch pro I had even with HSPL installed.
A trip to an unlock software shop for CID & security unlock via cable was the cure, those SK Korean HTC handsets are a PITA ...

When you flash 3.14 official ROM your radio will be 2.15.50.14 so don`t use it when you have TMOUS

yes i knew that but it is not a TMOUS, it is like an EU HD2 in the hardware part.
but i just tested with 1.66 wwe and arab downloaded from official HD2 rom thread and also with 3.14 roms and both of them stuck on installing radio part.
so i'm thinking the only rom that can be installed on it is the sktelekom rom :-? maybe
but there is nowhere i could find them

It looks like SK Telecom use to be called T-Mobile Korea.
Here is a link to a the 1.76.911.1 test ROM for your device. It says SKT KR in the name of the RUU so it is SK Telecom Korea ROm.

not really sure if it's here in these shipped roms

Now that's what I call a ROM list

That's all standard HTC supplied stuff so that won't be your problem then.
What navigation software do you have installed? Tom Tom, CoPilot etc?

Nope i don't any navigation software installed. I did not uniinstall or anything the phone just came like this.Hey , if i install a GPS navigation software will the GPS work ? Does GPS require any drivers or stuff ?
No additional driver needed. Try to activate the gps in google map, it's the easiest way to test it.

Ok let me try
HTC does not make hardware modifications to phones sold in Egypt. They use registry settings and remove certain DLL files in order to disable the GPS chip. Once you flash to a generic HTC WWE ROM, your GPS chip will work.

It's possible that there will be a problem with your product warranty when you change to a custom rom. There cab never be a problem with your operator. You can apply any operator you like to any custom rom. There is one very important step though, you have to perform a hardspl before you flash a new custom rom!!!!!

Is there any other thing i have to do , also is there any good custom rom for my polaris that you might have and recommend. Also i have read that after flashing HARD-SPL , its recommeneded to flash some original ROM before CUSTOM ROM. So is that really needed or its just with someCUSTOM ROMS. Also what if i want to download WWE WM6.1 Original can i do that ? ( i cant download this from HTC Website , cuz they say device is not supported) . Thanks for your help /.

In fact I'm using the rom you where thinking of (the full version of 3lit3 VI) and I'm very pleased with it. Very stable with nice apps. There's a build in tomtom version 7.910 and it works good. Furthermore no real bugs in this rom. It's in fact true that you'd better flash a official rom first beacause the custom rom is often more stable then. You can find the links here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431738. You must download the file to your pc and run the RUU (by double clic) from there with your Cruise connected with active sync.
Good luck.
Greetz, Steady Ron.
I have htc touch find(brand Tim Ita)[email protected] with rom 3vlite3 WWE clean, use radio 1.58.32.33 I found better than any other tested.

Confused - What is the LATEST Shipped ROM out there???????

This link: http://www.4shared.com/dir/22189940/b8552fa0/Shipped_Leo_ROMs.html shows the latest Shipped ROM being Leo 2.10.
That's strange, the XDA WIKI doesn't show such shipped rom with such version!
So I am totally confused here.
Currently I have this ROM installed : Worldwide 1.66.405.2
(RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.66.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship.exe)
But I am wondering if there is a MORE RECENT SHIPPED ROM than that?
And what are the enhancments. Any new programs or stuff in it?
Seems ROM 1.66.405.2 which I have is quite old, didn't HTC release anything newer and improved / better performing after that ?
Would appreciate you guys replies.

ROMs for TMob USA devices come with a 2.xx version - this base is frequently used by chefs for cooking custom ROMs.
European and ROW HD2´s (as of today) are still at 1.6x/1.7x (depending on the area where the device is bought).
As you are not really more specific about some key details, this is the best answer I can give.

Hey, thanks alot for the reply, I appreciate it.
My current ROM as I wrote is WWE 1.66.405.2. No language specific.
I am just wondering if using the 1.7 or 2.10 have improvments in terms of speed, bug fixes or functionality over the WWE 1.66.405.2 which I currently have. Or maybe they would actually make my device more 'T-Mobilish' giving a bunch of non usefull stuff and overhead.

Hey mate I think it goes like this, TMOUS and EU ROM's only differ in whats for your device, so you are expressing you use 1.66 meaning you have a European base on you phone so the highest in the base 1.xx is what your searching for. As for whether the latest is the best that's another question I cant answer.

If you don't have a TMOUS device, so you better not install a TMOUS ROM, due to radio and SPL differences.
i think 1.72 based (official) ROMs could have some improvements over 1.66, but mainly they are the same... only 1.72 are released a bit later for branded devices (1.72 ROMs carry the 1.66 SPL).

Thanks. I saw some snapshots of HD2 Running newer ROMs (I think above 2.0) and they had another home tab called 'Documents' I would call this is a good improvement over the 1.66 I have which doesn't have Documents tab. So I guess that the 2.0 (Tmobile ??) Roms are more improved. Pitty Euro versions don't have that. But since you warned against putting t-mobile US rom on a european device I will just wait.

some custom roms, that run very well on non TMOUS devices (all over the world) do have the document tab incorporated (see my signature )
all the roms and radios, regular and tmous, cooked or ship, will work just fine on the normal hd2. its only tmous users that can't flash our roms, we can flash theirs.
the 1.7 rom seems to be just 1.66 with the updates already applied.(though i'm no expert on that)

Wow it's pretty cool, why is the Telstra version always more compatible and in the HD case it was reported to be much more stable, is it because it is released 6+ months after US?

ermm, , , us version came out way after telstra, telstra is identical to euro/asia hd2, All roms will work on any spl on telstra and euro.
you are on 1.42.hspl because hspl2 doesnt work on telstra, nothing to do with stability or compatibility. if anything its less compatible than the euro/asia, cos teh euro can take all spl and all roms, including tmous, everything.

Yes I noticed after that it meant the Euro was still more compatible, which indeed was the first release? Then to AUS and then to US. Yes sorry I was thinking of the HD which was much delayed.

Possible? HD2 (T-Mobile US) to European German ROM

Hi guys!
I haven't been around for a while since I had non-HTC devices, yet, I just got me a US HD2 from T-Mobile. Does anybody know if I could flash it with a German (or unbranded official WWE ROM) without bricking the device? Or better: did somebody try this already successfully?
I just would like to get it up and running in my home language (and also get rid of the T-Mobile Start Animation). Back in time, I never had any issues flashing a US MDA version with European ROMs, yet, I know this has changed due hardware differencies.
Any input would be appreciated.
its not going to happen.
if you flash any non tmous based rom will cause the phone to to hang at boot.
if the rom you attempted to use also included a radio (example stock 1.66 wwe rom) then the included radio would brick your phone.
the best you can hope for is a tmous based rom with german language included.
go look carefully through the tmous rom development section.

Read the stickys in the ROM Development forum.
Look here it tells you everything. Try to use the search function to find the answers to your questions, this topic comes up too often and people will usually flame you for not even looking at the stickys in the relevant forum.
Really sorry for posting in the wrong section but I did check that thread and that's how I learnt how to HSPL. What I don't know is which version of ROM should I get? If you have HSPL installed you can use any offical ROM, but you may well have to be mindful of the radio you have installed, flashing an incompatable ROM/radio combo will not do you any favours. T-Mobile US devices use a different radio than the international devices so flashing a US ROM without having a US radio will lock up your device.
Are you planning on flashing a custom ROM, or official ROM from your network provider?
I am currently downloading the official ROM I found in one of the threads. It says 1.66 - Test Rom (english).
This one to be precise - "World Wide English - TEST rom (WWE) 1.66.405.1 - Direct Link"
Is it ok and will it work with Radio 2.05.51.05_2

Have a look here, I don't like the sound of a 'Test ROM'. Your radio will be compatable with all of those 1.66 ROMs.
Thanks for the link.
I see a more later version of ROM there. I would like to install 2.02 version of ROM as I guess it would be the better than the 1.66 one and hence won't require a lot of updating. When I click on the 2.02 version, I see only 1 link inside that folder. Should I just click on that link for the download to start? And what about the radio version? Is my radio version okay for the 2.02 version?
i should stay away from 2.02 too. in fairly sure that too is a test ROM. u think it even has a watermark.
if you want the latest, why not go for the tmous 2.13 rom?
So which one do you suggest I should download?
I mean are you sure 2.13 will work with my radio version?
And one more thing, when I go to 2.13 ... it says 0 files in the location?

You will have to update your radio to use that ROM. It's a T-Mobile US ROM. I am not too sure if the radio comes bundled with the ROM when you flash an official ROM as I only flash custom. But to be on the safe side flash a radio from here before you flash the ROM. You need to make sure the radio is a 2.07.50.27 NOT a 2.05.51.05_2. It doesn't matter what radio it is aslong as it's a 2.xx.50.xx and not a 2.xx.51.xx, .50 radios are for T-Mobile US ROMs, which is what the 2.xx ROMs are.
I think I will download Radio 2.10.50.8_2 ... I just have to click on the rapid share link, download it ... run it and connect my HD 2 with WMDC to install the radio right?
Also, please suggest how to get the 2.13 rom as there are no files in that folder.

To be honest, if you are going to flash a ROM, I would probably advise trying a custom. That 4shared link doesn't seem to have many decent 2.xx ROMs. I am not too familiar with official ROMs and which is good/no so good.
I am very biased toward Energy ROMs if you click my sig it will direct you to the page, there are many other fantastic ROMs about Artemis is another. Custom ROMs are lighter and much faster than stock ROMs and are obviously installed in exactly the same was as the offcial.
Okay fine, please check as I have sent you a private message. I will download custom ROM only now. Would really appreciate if you help me out through chat.
