Excellent article on CPU-Governors and IO-schedulers - Xperia Arc General

This article gave me great insight in governors and schedulers.
Maybe it will help you too in finding best mix between governor and scheduler.

Thanks!
Would be nice to have smoothassV2 in FXP (CM). I will try to add it and compile my own kernel. Will share if I succeed.

Thumbs up
Thanks

Desperately need this for working around new ICS custom kernals. Thanks a ton

Very Informative
Thank you.. It helped me a lot in understanding about Governers and IOschedulers.. :good:

Try them and see which works best for you. If you don't need the overclock speed, then stick with one that's stock or underclocked but undervolted also. This will save you some battery power. I think it's hard to say what works for me will work for you. One of the effects of having choices.

I love the original kernel
So far it looks like the custom made kernels are not mature enough and battery life is a bit shorter
Also I use Tegrak, which doesnt work with custom kernels
Hopefully we'll see soon a bunch of evovled custom kernels allowing to get more of our devices. It seems Samsung's native kernel sucks and could be greatly improved
The EzyICS Kernel v1 will wake up a power off tablet after charging via usb or wall socket is connected, does all custom kernel does this?

[Q] ROM / Kernel Needed ~ Please Help!!!

I have had this phone since release and have been flashing ROMs and Kernels to it from the beginning. I mainly bounce on the ROM side from ParanoidAndroid to SlimKat to Purity. I tend to use either AK as a Kernel or a variant of Hells. I want to flash a ROM and Kernel combo that I can stick with (until I grab a Nexus 6 that is). I only need 3 things from any STABLE ROM / Kernel combination but they are non-negotiable in no particular order. Smooth performance, battery longevity and optimal audio quality. I would like whatever combo to be specifically geared towards that if at all possible. I am a junkie / flash addict and need this viscious cycle to end! Haha. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance!

yes.. Inbuilt kernel is good. or try ak.
Awesome. Thanks for your help. One last thing. Do you have any custom settings for the AK Kernel I can use? I see a lot of people tweaking and optimizing Kernels but never have myself. Perhaps you have something you could share. Anyway, I'll flash your suggestions in a day or two and let you know how it went.

Best kernel for Nexus4 5.0.1 ?

Hello everyone , I want a kernel for my og. Nexus 4 , preferably a good, stable one with over clock possibilities and double tap to wake if it's possible because I want to give my phone a new life , like how was when I buyed it thanks everyone any help is well-comed !
I tried all kernels ...but non of custom kernels are good...hells doctor is quite well but not perfect..using euphoria 5.02 stock kernel..and found better than any one..
In my opinion the semaphore is the best custom kernel when taking consideration of stability, performance and battery, otherwise each stock is the most stable ofc, because of the unbreakable relations between common development of kernel and rom by developers.

just search kernels with the features you want and try them. FYI the thread will close shortly. no best... threads allowed because best kernel for every individual is different

Franco doesn't have dt2w.
There isn't a best kernel. You have to try kernels and see what is best for you. There are some great kernels: franco, hellscore, hellsdoctor, semaphore, matr1x, mirage, faux123, unleashed, ak, bricked, nash...
Check their threads to see if it have dt2w.

[Guide] increase smoothness on 5x

Hello, main goal for this thread is tot share my experience and help others! Its not guaranteed it will work.
1. Keep it stock!
All of those tweaking scripts do more harm then good. Mainly the 'battery saving options' can bring alot of lagg while not increasing battery alot.. Its more Placebo.
2. Flash another ROM!
I went from CyanogenMod to Resurrection Remix. CM was alot smoother then EMUI. But after a few days animations started to lagg. A reboot was requiered to fix it temporary. Now on Resurrection Remix currently maintained by @jsbeyond doesnt have this issue. Atleast not for me. AOSP is a good solution too. But i like to keep my features and customization.
3. For Blaze Kernal users
Dont use sioplus as main i/o scheduler atleast not for internal. I found out that it does something weird regarding 'smoothness'..
4. An experimental tweak
Set i/o scheduler to cfq and read ahead cache to 128kb. I found out that it helps with the smoothness on the ui but mainly scrolling.
Thx for reading. Hope i helped someone share your opinions!

A custom ROM is the best choice, CM13 has a better battery SOT than stock (at least for me)
