Bluetooth not connectig automatically to the car kit - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Hi guys,
I have a very strange problem with my beloved note. After I get in the car and drive off I remember that I have to turn bluetooth on so it can connect to the hands free system. The thing is that it doesn't connect automatically, I have to go into the settings and tap the BT name in order to connect it. If on the other hand if I have BT already enabled on the phone before starting the car, it conmects automatically. With the first version of GB the Note had in November I didn't have this issue, but after the first update it started not to work. Now I am on official unrooted ICS 4.0.3. Never had this problem with any other phone.... Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

You can try Automatic Bluetooth Toggle PRO (I think there is trial version on Google Play). I don't know if it will help you. If not then I'm sorry you will probably have to go back to GB. I'm still on GB as I was also having issues with bluetooth on stock ICS (CM9-based ROMs worked well though).

Thanks a lot. GB had the same annoying problem though :-(... so it's not that....

Hi,
Did you allow the pairing automatically between the devices?
When you pair at installation, it isn't permanently (= automatic) yet. When you get in your car and pair for a second time, normally your phone asks you if you allow your hands free system to access your phone; at that moment you have to tick "don't ask me again" and "yes" for automatic paring.
You might want to disassociate the two and try a new setup (pairing).
To disassociate, stop the system in your car (that cuts the BT connection between the two), disassociate on the phone (push and hold your hands free system in the BT section of the phone and chose disassociate), reboot your phone (so it forgets your cars BT system) and start pairing all over again.
I would provoke the second connection so you get the "automatic" question to make it work.
Good luck :good:

I have the same problem with the original ICS rom.
Flashing a custom ICS rom fixes this problem.
I tried kingdroid (worked ok)
I tried Cyanogen (phone ok, no media audio over BT but connection OK).

I had a similar problem after upgrade with stock ICS through software update. I couldn't pair Note with Mercedes bluetooth. Galaxy Note recognized Mercedes BT & vice versa, but connection was impossible. I read every forum on internet but no help. Everybody was blaming Samsung and ICS. Some suggested resseting Note to factory default, others downloading bluetooth app etc.
Until...I finally figured out that something was confusing my car's BT, so I resseted car system, and the problem was solved.

These is a twist with "old" BT systems and ICS: Old BT systems want you to insert a pin code, ICS wants you to to confirm a code that the BT system sends and that ICS shows on the screen.
It's obvious that that ICS on an old system can be a hassle.
A work around is to put the car in discover mode (so it shows the pin code) and then send a contact (or a picture) from the phone to the car system. As the car replies, your phone will show the possibility to insert the PIN Code.
After that your system should work.
At second connection make the pairing automatic (as I described above) and you're happy.
(This is not my discovery, I found this solution on the SE XPeria Ray forum as I had problems with my wifes phone )

Thaks a lot. I will try as soon as I get the chance and will let you guys know.

So with the workaround mentioned above - it doesn't work. When turning on bt on the phone it won't automatically connect to the car.

Try A2DP Volume on the market.

I have the same problem as you. I used a leaked ics rom on my galaxy s2 and also had the same problem we now have on our ics galaxy notes. My car's head unit is a 3 year old eclipse cd5030. For the last month ive just been manually pairing it every time. PITA. Ill try the workaround suggested earlier in this thread and let you know. Otherwise i think cyanogen mod rom may work.

I had similar issues with Parrot 9200 kit in my car. Paired automatically under GB but on stock ICS wouldn't pair unprompted. Sometimes it would but only after minutes.
I'm on Paranoid Android 0.4 now which is CM9 based. It's better but often still slow to pair unprompted. Main improvement for me is that the phone doesn't carry on playing music through its own speaker, like it did on stock ICS, when I turn off the engine.

There is an app on the market called "Auto Connect 2.0", but it is only available for ICS and above Android versions

Bluetooth pairing problem with 2.2

I have 2.2 official, rooted (315) working with the performance upgrade.
Each time I get in to my car, although I have previoulsy paired the phone with the cars bluetooth, it asks me for the password, as if the phone doesnt store the it from one use to the other. Once I put the passord in it works fine.
On my other car it has paired fine and remembers it each time. I don't have to redo the password.
the thing is I was using Froyo 2.2 on my previous phone, an HTC Desire and didn't have this problem on either car.
Is this a phone or car issue and if it is the former, do I need additional software?
I have now flashed Steve's 1.5 Rom and the issue is still there.
What I do not understand is that the HTC Desire was fine on 2.2 but with the Streak it is there, I am asked to input my pairing password everytime I get into the car.
Does the Streak handle its bluetooth differently to the HTC? Is there an app I can use?
Has anybody had a similar problem?
Sorry mate no issues whatsoever with mine and the parrot mki9200 handsfree kit. I'd suggest fiddling around in the phones bluetooth options, and maybe delete the partnerships both on the phone and on the handsfree.
Other tha turning the bluetooth off and on there aren't any other 'settings' that I can find. Its there an equivalent 'tweaks' type as app as you get with win mo that might have some extra settings?

The only BT problem I've seen, is with mine...
318 "stock", no other mods.
If I have wi-fi enabled & connected to a wi-fi hotspot, or my home router,
BT conversations will cut in and out, until I turn wi-fi off.

now dont take my word as the word of god as I started androiding since yesterday in the evening only but:
when in car, activate the connection between your handsfree and your phone, then goto bluetooth settings in your phone, tap on the connected device, there will be a bunch of further settings (like what services it would use, etc.)
i think that in your situation however the best advice would be deleting the pairing details both from the phone and from the handsfree.
I usually don't have this problem with my parrot mki9200 handsfree kit, but I have experienced similar things in the past, but that was only when my phone spazzes out and error occurs. Can't remember what errors like but it's usually when random things start force closing and stuff, and the phone is due a full reboot (not forced to reboot but manually rebooted just to refresh the phone) or I need to repair for whatever reason. I either just have to re-enter the passcode and I'm off or when I try to repair the connection, it would connect straightaway without asking for a passcode, but then if I unpair the connection, the system would then prompt me to enter a passcode and entering the passcode would connect the devices together again (even though I'm trying to unpair them).
My advice would be to try doing a fresh pair by establishing a full and stable connection (so probably after you've entered the code and are connected) then unpair on both the phone and the your car kit, then power both systems down (car so the hands free kit powers off and the phone), then start them up again and establish a fresh pair connection and see if that helps. Other than that, I would suggest seeing if there is any firmware updates for your hands free kit cos it might not be fully compatible with the Dell Streak even if you are running 2.2 (I had to do this with my system as it would constantly randomly disconnect then reconnect itself but this went away after a firmware update).
My car s hands free its one of those with no settings, it's just there constantly on ready to pair mode and just adds any phone is in range if that phone is in discovery mode. Its just always like that so it never has a settings section, you just do it on the phone.
My two previous phones, an htc desire with 2.2 and a htc legend both connected flawlessly without any of the pairing issues.
I took the car to the dealer and he said there were no upgrades for it so it is really frustrating to think that the Streak is running the same software as the other phones but for some reason in its architecture it us not compatible with my car. The other annoying thing is that on my other car it works perfectly.

can someone help with bluetooth?

Hi Guys,
I'm having this problem that is driving me nuts, don't really know how to proceed.
I have a car stereo a Kenwood DNX8120, which has parrot bluetooth hands free. It has worked very well in the past on an LG, SonyEricsson and the Nexus One.
On the Nexus S (I bought this used and rooted with CM7, so I don't know about a stock model) the bluetooth connects, then after some time, like 20 seconds, it disconnects. I can play this game forever, it won't stay connected.
I can use one of two methods to connect
1- put the phone in BT discovery and let the kenwood connect to it, or
2- Have the phone connect to the kenwood.
I've tried both with the same results.
I got a.logcat and I see a whole bunch of red entries at the time this happens but I don't know what to make if it and I don't know how to grab these entries to a file.
I have also tried a phone wipe and installed infin1ty's ROM and also the latest CM nightlies. Same friggin result.
I see in recovery there are options to delete dalvik and data but I don't know if they'll help.
can you guys help?
Thanks
Tried another device. The actual hardware could be messed up on either device causing this. Try your LG again to the radio and the try another headset to to the phone. Last but not least try the stock Rom .
P.s. cm7 had an issue on the evolution where by was not given a unique Mac address which caused issues for me connecting 2 cm7 EVOs (they would over write each other).
Hope that helps

Hi Thanks for the help.
Both LG and SE phones still work fine. I'm unable to find another nexus s so I dunno if this particular one.
But here's a new discovery.
I paired them using the HU. Now when I start the car, the BT connects then after a bit it disconnects. Well now I can go to the *phone* and manually connect to the kenwood and the connection holds!!! I have no idea what is going on with the autoconnect but it can apparenlty hold a connect if I manually initiate it from the phone.
All this time I had been trying to get the kenwwood to do the manual connection (after the auto connection faills) and that never held.
sigh...
Have you tried a headset with the nexus to see how well/bad it works? Also are you on the stock rom? If so take it down to your carrier and ask if you can try it on one of their units.

Bluetooth not working on Stock rooted Gingerbread

On stock rooted Gingerbread ROM, I am not able to connect to any of my devices via Bluetooth. It turns on OK and it says it is scanning, but it will not connect to any of my bluetooth devices. It worked on Froyo before. Rebooted phone and still the same issue. Short of doing a full wipe and reinstall, anyone else have any suggestions on how to fix it?
i had the same issue before wiyh ny bt headset...after switching to a diff rom, my headset wouldnt even show in the scanned devices...turns out i had to re "pair" the headset by deleting what it had stored before...i've had to do this everytime i switch roms...hope this helps...

Still wouldn't pair with my bluetooth.
Just to make sure my bluetooth headset was not broken, I was able to pair it with my HP Touchpad (it was never paired on my Touchpad before and it paired and connected just fine right away).
I then Odined EC05 stock rom and tried to pair while in EC05, no go either.
It did the autoupdate to EI22 and tried again to pair and no go again either.
I'm thinking the Bluetooth hardware may be broken? Take it to a Sprint Tech Store and have them check it out? Since my phone is now completely stock and unrooted, maybe I should hit the Sprint Tech store and have them check it out.
Sounds like a good idea, they should have some headsets laying around they can try to pair it to.

Went to the Sprint store this afternoon. Techs looked at it and they determined the radio is bad. They gave me a new Epic. Now it's off to puting back CWM and restoring my nandroid backup.
On a side note, while waiting, the store must have sold at least 8 iPhone 4S's during my wait, while I did not see any non iPhone sold during that timeframe. I pity those people.

[Q] Hands free bluetooth issues (Merc B Class)

Hi all
Sorry if there is another thread with this already but I am at the end of my tether!
I have a Galaxy S4 with Android 4.2.2 and am having problems when paired to my Merc B200 with Audio 20.
I believe this may be a common problem but I just need confirmation from someone in the know.
ISSUE:
I can pair with the head unit no problems, but when I make and receive calls, there is no audio. Apparently the other end can hear me, but I am unable to hear them.
Audio is on max, both on the phone and the audio 20.
Any ideas? Is this a software issue?
I did contact Samsung, who obviously told me that this was down to the car manufacturer and MB told me to buy an older phone (great advice!).
My wifes Iphone 5 works flawlessly, as did my Iphone 4s.
MB seem to be under the impression that a car firmware update will no resolve the problem and basically I am scuppered. Surely bluetooth should be backwards compatible!!!
Cheers
Andy
I got a blackberry to work with a mb car kit a while ago, not sure of the symptoms the user was seeing but he was pairing from the phone to the kit. I tried pairing the phone from the car kit and it then started to work flawlessly.

might be a similar issue
Not sure if it's the same thing but I'm at a loss as to what to do. I bought the Jaybird SB2 bluetooth headset. I've read elsewhere others have had issues connecting to Mac's (I have the same connection problem with my Macs) but they worked fine with my old Galaxy S2 (when it had pre-jelly bean rom). As soon as I upgraded the sounds cuts out after a couple of minutes although the player says the music is playing. I can get it to work again for another couple of minutes by disconnecting then reconnecting the bluetooth. I then flashed a custom JB rom (supernexus I think) on the old S2 and everything worked perfectly. I've just got my stock S4 and the same problem with the bluetooth keeps happening.
I can only think it's a software problem since the headphones work perfectly with my Nexus 7 and my old S2 with this custom rom but I can't find anything online elsewhere recording the problem. Not really sure where to turn for help since I doubt Samsung will care.
Unsure if 100% related, but I've had some issues with BT on my Subaru Outback ('13).
When I am (simultaneously):
1) Charging
2) Connected to my car stereo via Bluetooth
3) Playing music (using default GS4 music widget)
4) Navigating w/ Google Navigation
The Google Navigation voice cuts out half way through giving the direction.
"In 250 feet, turn right onto" ... ... ... ... nothing
It's really horrible, especially because this is the PRIMARY use for my phone (car audio & nav).
Update:
Winamp doesn't interrupt nav, but I lose BT controls on steering wheel.
AVia doesn't either and keeps BT control functionality.
All music players I've tried, however, just seem to crash at random...
They either stop altogether or think the music is still playing but no audio is on.
All of this is resolved by using Aux instead of BT.
This is what leads me to believe it is BT related.
Anyone with experience or help here, that'd be awesome...
I've had a breakthrough with mine
I installed an app called 'Soundabout' from the playstore that reroutes any audio to a BT device, this did the trick, I now have audio both when making and receiving calls.
It also works for a2dp streaming issues.
The odd thing is though, I deleted the app afterwards just on the off chance that it fixed anything in the background.... And it did! My BT audio is now working seamlessly without the app!
I am currently running a flashed stock rom (XXUAME2).
Hope this helps others

Hi,
I have the same issue.
I have just got my new Galaxy S4, everything is working fine except the Bluetooth. I am having trouble to use the Bluetooth on my 2011 Toyota Car corolla. I am able to connect to the Bluetooth, and play music but problem with starting to make a call. when I say "starting to make a call" means I can make a call, but the receiver can't hear me and I can't hear them neither. I was able to answer the call or hang up, everything is working fine except no voice come out from the speakers.
The funny is it will work if I use Apps to make a call, such as Skype, viber.
I can't find any solution so far.

It appears that the setting may revert if you turn bluetooth off and back on again. After doing that, I had to go back into soundabout and untick then retick that box. Can anyone else confirm this behaviour? It certainly appears to be a default setting in the operating system causing the issue, which means it may be possible to fix with a patch, and Samsung should certainly be able to fix it in a future update.

Who doesn't have Bluetooth issues?

I am subscribed to a few Google group conversations about Bluetooth issues with the Nexus 4 and reading each complaint prompted me to ask. Does anybody out there with a Nexus 4 NOT have an issue with Bluetooth?
I am on my 2nd replacement Nexus from Google Play device support and a third is on the way. If this third device doesn't work, then I either can opt for a refund or wait for Android 4.3 to hopefully fix it, if the problem is software salvageable. So I'm just curious if anybody's N4 actually has no issue with Bluetooth and in what manner do you use Bluetooth and with what devices?

I have never had any issue with Bluetooth
Granted I don't use it often (once every couple weeks on average) but each time I have its never failed in any way.
I have used in my car for hands free and also to send pics to my GF's phone and a couple times to transfer files from my laptop
Started out stock and then last few months been on custom ROM's with no change
Day 1 N4 here too - never had bt problems. Pairs with my car, Motorola headset, and Moga Pro just fine. Fiancée's stock unrooted N4 pairs with her car and jawbone speakers fine. Hoping 4.3 brings LE bt support for my fitbit flex, but besides that haven't had to do anything but turn on bt and pair.
What problems are you having? Haven't heard of people really having issues...
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
To my knowledge from researching the problem myself people claim it's a hardware issue based on some of the responses they get back from google I guess? I knew right away it wasn't just me when someone else I know has a N4 as well and when I use my LG Tone with his while connected via WiFI it pulls a dubstep and drops.
Other than that it's the only issue I have with BT that I can replicate. Hands-free while connected via data works like it should.
No Bluetooth problem here.

Stock 4.2.2 doesn't work properly with my car (BMW E61 5-series). Basic phone works, but no contact sync due to bugs in the N4 bluetooth stack. Moved to CM10.1 which contains various fixes for this and it's worked perfectly since then.
Honest truth - if the first device didn't work and the second was the same, why on earth would you assume that this was a hardware problem and keep sending the phone back? Either request a refund, switch ROMs or put up with it!
Oh sure I guess I have heard people mention that... BT and both 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi coexist just fine on both N4s here. I just wish it could take advantage of my ac router.

No Issues
Bought my N4 a month ago and I have used Bluetooth hands-free headset, transferred files from my old phone and from my netbook without any problems. Haven't tried stereo audio, though.
Got my N4 in the second batch of those available and have no issues pairing with my vehicle. I don't use Bluetooth for anything else, though
Bluetooth generally works, it only screws up from time to time for things like pairing with a new device. It's been more or less this way since JB and generally if you have a regular bluetooth setup of headset, in-car radio etc, it 9/10 works just fine.
Introduce some complications and it does wonk out sometimes. I've had plenty of times where it wouldn't want to pair right to my laptop or desktop after I factory reset my device. Sometimes it just won't get picked up either when BT is on, visible and another device is looking for it.
I believe I remember reading that there was a legit explanation for this regarding drivers and or some security thing but it's been long enough that I don't remember what the details were or where I even read it on XDA. May have even been the GN forums.
I've seen the exact problem indicated by the video on CM 10.1. I just restarted, wiped dalvik and all was well again.
Other than that my BT has been perfect. I use it daily in my car for audio streaming and phone. At home I pair it to my PC for audio streaming and it works perfectly.

I actually haven't run into many issues with Bluetooth. I use it mainly with Jawbones Jambox and it pairs up just fine. I think it may have dropped connection a couple times but less than a handful. I do run into problems when I miss a call from someone though. The audio quits playback though the devices remain paired.

I guess I have issues. I leave BT on all the time and only randomly does it automatically connect when I get in my car. I generally have to go in to the BT settings and click the device to pair with. It identifies the device, but doesn't connect automatically.
On stock 4.2.2, I had issues with BT not connecting at all and it would get stuck in an on/off post ion (it would never fully turn off or turn on when I toggled the switch). I would have to reboot to get it to work. I have yet to see this happen on cm10.1, I just have the automatic connect issue with cm10.1

I usually have no issues pairing and using. But I definitely have these two issues:
1. BT won't turn on at all (like in the video).
2. I notice my phone hot and draining battery. I look at the BT indicator and it is blue indicating a connection but I'm not connected at all. I only use BT in the car and I'm nowhere near my car. Yet the indicator is blue and my phone is hot.
Either is resolved with a quick reboot. I'm not troubled by it but is annoying at times.
