[TWEAK]build.prop editing for Max games - Bravo General

OK so I know that we may not have GPU overclocking but its always nice to have max games .
You can use this tweak to give you the most variety. OK so first you are gonna want root explorer or to use adb and use notepad++ and push it back over. Personally I just use root explorer.
OK so first change the
ro.product.model value to Galaxy Nexus
Then change .brand value to Samsung
And then just for good measure change .name value to Galaxy Nexus
Here's what it should look like:
ro.product.model=Galaxy Nexus
ro.product.brand=Samsung
ro.product.name=Galaxy Nexus
If you used notepad++ adb push to
/system
And that's it have fun with some new games and feel free to comment and give tips and other tweaks.
Please give no spam don't be a Viking haha
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR DEVICE AS A RESULT OF THIS TWEAK

No, gives access to most games.

Like what skeevy said its just because in my opinion the galaxy nexus has the widest range. But another good one to try is the gs2 or gs3

Pls help in deciding to buy S2 or GNex

Hey Guys,
I am sorry for opening this, i know there are similar threads but not able to find those.
I am in a confusion.. below are the offers for the two phones..
Galaxy S2 (Rs. 29500/- around 600$)
Galaxy Nexus (Rs. 30500/- around 620$)
just not able to decide which one to buy, both have their own Pros and Cons..
S2 has better camera, external storage option and better Processor.
GNex has better Screen, AOSP and fast updates.
Pls help me in deciding which one to buy.
Thanks

Personally, Nexus all day for me. ICS is by far the best iteration of android and you'll get the real deal with the nexus, not some skinned, bloated version. Also, better screen for web browsing, and apparently better sound quality for music.
The SGS2 was and still is a fantastic phone, but the game has been moved on IMO.
If I should have invested another 20$ before I would have a better screen and updated software
Gnex.

there's a huge difference in quadrant scores, and in higher end gaming =S there are currently games only available through samsung apps on the SGS2 because it has a superior GPU as of right now
The Gnex unfortunately got shafted with the camera and processing hardware... everything else is pretty good.
..Galaxy S II is better in all ways and prettyer ...nexus is only better because google orginal android look and OS updates....only you can decide!!!

Nexus is not launched in India, but the dealer is telling me he will take care of the warranty.
Screen nicer on Galaxy Nexus but I don't think I could live with 16GB storage. Very happy with my SGS2 with 16+32GB
I got a SGS2 and its a great phone.
But i have to say, if you are interested in development, go for the Galaxy Nexus.

You need to think about practicality. If you use your phone a lot searching the web and watching videos, then the GalNex is the best choice (maybe you could consider the Note). Also software wise the GalNex is the winner too because it will most likely have a longer period when it will recieve updates. Also is better for development.,On the other hand if you want a power-house, take photos and movies with your phone daily and play games with more "advanced" graphics smoother you should consider the S2 (or again, the Note). In the end they are both great handsets. It onlymatters how practically you find them using on day by day schedule.
I will try to sell my SGS2 to get a Nexus. Samsung is starting to annoy me with their dev "support" and I would like a Nexus device. I'm personally changing because of dev and rom support and of course the screen looks great. As for 16gb, I've been using a 16gb iPhone for 3 years and just now it's starting to be just slightly small but I can easily manage.

Poor low resolution screen.
Apparently no Google Play Store.

Got my daughter the nabi 2 and it's pretty bad-ass. Only thing is on the nabi 2 it's missing Google services framework so you can't even side load any Google apps. The only way to do that is to root it which reading is fairly simple. Just look at the specs on it and it's a kids tablet.
---------- Post added at 05:06 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:00 AM ----------
It's not that thick, the protective padding makes it thick. Actually it is just slightly thicker than the nexus 7. The screen resolution is decent, I mean c'mon it's for kids. I really don't think a kid is gonna complain about resolution.

While the design and stock UI mods are definitely kid-oriented, and as such may not be the best build quality/buggy, the specs are very similar to the Nexus 7. All I can see different is lower screen resolution (though the same as Kindle Fire), lack of NFC, and ICS rather than Jelly Bean.
In fact, it has some things a little better than the N7..microSD slot, HDMI out, and a 2MP FFC..for the same price point..
While I probably wouldn't want it, it's pretty classy for a kid and it goes to show that the price/hardware ratio is really getting better.
Yeah it's like the N7 except it isn't specs are one thing, but looks and build quality is always different. Might be kid friendly and all, but it's still different there is going to probably be 0 dev support for that device. Personally having extra SD slot and HDMI out isn't important, but that's just me

Since the Nexus 7 has been touted as the first and only tablet with its processor, another one with the same processor and price has something to do with it. Its specs are pretty equal, except the screen resolution and it has an SD slot and HDMI out. It could get picked up by developers. Just because its aimed at a different market doesn't mean it won't, ie Nook Color.

I thought I read somewhere that in theory, it is possible, but you would probably have to have quite the soldering skills to even begin to do this.
Wow, this thing has impressive specs for a device aimed at children. It almost seems wasteful to give something this powerful to a five year old. The display resolution might be lower than the Nexus 7's, but it's the same resolution as the other good 7" tablets before the Nexus 7, not to mention that the pixel density is higher than non-retina iPads.

The Nabi(Original) was underpowered, so they did not want to make the same mistake on Nabi2.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
I hadn't heard of the Nabi until now so I'm not familiar with the experience of the original, but I looked at its specs and aside from having a low resolution (800x480), the original looks like it should have the horsepower to run things smoothly. With a dual core 1.1ghz processor, it's more powerful than my old Galaxy Tab, which ran ICS pretty well. I suspect that it must have been more of a software issue than hardware.
Edit: I paid closer attention to the specs and can see that it's 2 x 533mhz, in which case yeah, that's pretty slow.

Suggestion Needed : Nexus 4 or Galaxy S3?

The title says it all. I am confused between Nexus 4 and Galaxy S3. Now, I am coming from a Note II. I don't really like the Note II. Its way too big for me -.-
So I gave it to my dad.
Now, let me make a few things clear. No matter if its a nexus or anything else, I am going to root it and install a custom rom as soon as I purchase it. So, the question of running the latest version of android doesnt come up. I want suggestions based on your overall device experience.

Nexus 4 all the way..
N4 is way better in performance than S3. Even S3 users have moved on from S3 to N4, check other thread with similar title.
As you said you will be rooting it, so u have ample of ROM's to try. 2gigs of RAM and 1.5 GHz makes it a BEAST and stand out off all. though the camera is not as good as S3 to admit. Rest its your call. Nexus 4 anytime the best .
I'm with the n4 now and am more than pleased.
However if removeable storage and battery are your thing then the s3 is the way to go.
I personally prefer the development community that the n4 has along with the plethora of ROM and kernel choices. Plus with online cloud storage, who needs a micro SD these days.

I say go with the Galaxy SIII. Much cheaper to replace parts when broken and way easier. More battery life than the Nexus. You get the added benefit of the phone being popular and will have more access to premium cases and accessories that the Nexus 4 may never see. I love my Nexus 4, but if you already have software taken care of, go for the GSIII.

Okay. I actually need a lot of storage. I have a large music collection and I keep docs and other imp stuff on my phone just in case I need them urgently. Assume that I purchase the S3. Will the 750MB ram and crappy exynos source codes lead to problems in future?
If yes, then I'll compromise with the storage thing and purchase the Nexus 4. I can do away with the storage problems by purchasing a 64GB pendrive.
About the camera, I don't really use my phone to take pictures. Took around 3-4 pictures in the last 7 months using my NoteII. I have a camera for taking pictures.
I have n4 and my girlfriend s3,and I don't know why is considered that s3 has much better camera. Maybe it's not the camera, rather the amoled screen on s3 which gives that over saturated surreal look. I took the same photo with n4 and s3 and transferred to laptop and there wasn't almost any difference between them.

The nexus 4 doesn't support USB OTG so the pendrive won't help
If storage is an absolute need then I think you should go for the s3.
If the lack of ram bugs you, take a look at the s3 lte (same exynos quad, 2 gigs of ram)
But it definitely won't match the nexus 4's performance no matter what. Its gonna be a lot less smooth. If you can live with your note II for a few more months you should do that and buy the new nexus when it comes out this fall.....
EDIT: Read the first post. Oops, my bad about the note II. It all comes down to storage then. If you really need a lot of it, buy the s3 lte(or the us s3, that's good too). Otherwise, nexus 4 all the way. Cheers

How much space does your files need. I was worried about space but lets be honest with all the cloud features out there like BOx giving you 50 gigs when you sign up you can put your stuff anywhere. I have 0 issues playing my 1000 or so songs from a streaming Google Music. I hear ya storage was an issue for me but you learn to adapt....
Dude. Use the cloud!
There are several services out there, I personally use drop box and copy.
On another note.... I have over 3k songs uploaded to play music through music manager on my desktop and stream them bad boys through the play music app.
The future is here.

I kind of think the mentions here in this thread (N4 vs HTC OneX+) kind of applies and makes the same argument, especially as I even bought up the S3 in comparison in that thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086175
Mainly with the S3, are these important to you?
*) replaceable/extendable battery
*) Micro-SD card slot
If so then S3 would be for you, since can't seem to decide on everything else

I use dropbox and such too, though I normally won't rely on it for very large files to my phone basically. There's OwnCloud if you don't mind setting that up (just kind of a pain if you're expecting it to stream).
Far as movies and audio, etc on my local wifi or wifi in general, that's what stuff like Google Play Music, Qloud Media, or Plex is for.
Course if the Nexus4 supported USB-OTG like my Nexus 7 does (well it 'sorta' does, but it's hardware limitation is that it needs extra juice via an external power source), then I'd just pop on a micro-SD card or thumbdrive if for some reason I really needed local connected storage. (There's also AirDroid if you're just trying to transfer).
PS: I love dropbox, I use a Eye-Fi SD card, which can use WAP off my phone to save photos I take to my computer at home, at home I have it saving to my dropbox folder, so I can always pull up the photos via dropbox on my phone if I wish to share from there rather than having to re-configure the card to save straight to my phone but then still having to end up saving it to the desktop later.
I know you tj bro... U used to have sga right? I loved your stocklite rom man. Exactly one month ago i was in same situation as you. I was going insane on which mobile to buy s3 or n4. Finally i bought n4 because of its dev support on xda.
Major Pros of n4 :
RAM 2 gb
Awesomest support of ROMs.
Future proof as compared to s3
Build quality is good as compared to s3
Major Cons of n4 :
Delayed push notification in whatsapp etc though it will hopefully fixed in next Google's next update.(though you can fix it having a simple hack)

Not sure I'd put that in a "con" list if you don't know why or if it's even related to the hardware as opposed to all OSes when the same could happen on the S3 side depending on the software, apps, region, configuration. etc.
PS: Also if it's not responding to ping while on wifi especially with specific wifi spots, you might have to configure a DNS server manually (like google's 8.8.8.8, as the phone may have picked up a configuration that's not resolving certain domains correctly etc).

Yesterday, I saw the Galaxy Note II, Galaxy SIII and the Galaxy SIV.
The performance was great, but I have a Nexus 4 for 5 months now, and I would, even I know the features of all the new phones like the HTC One and so on, go and buy this phone again, because it's so great.
This phone is stock android, and therefore nearly all apps and tweaks and mods are working on that.
Most applications are made for the Nexus 4, because it's the model for all other smartphones, so said google.
It has always the newest software and so great ROMs, like the PACman Rom e.g.
When I first saw the Xperia Z, I found, that this device has a really bad performance and really bad colors for a newer device and for a such praised phone, in my opinion.
At least the Galaxy Devices have always these AMOLED displays, and I don't understand, why so much people like these, because I saw them in the Telekom shop and there is always text like "Turn on the LTE" branded in the screens.
If I were you, I would go and buy a Nexus 4
Swyped from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
If you are planning to keep your new phone for good, than it should be a Nexus, cause it will get all the recent updates and has a great development thread here on XDA too.
Nexus 4.
GS3 is a great device... But my friends always complain that it lags after a while... Which is a product of TW. So go with the N4, I love mine.
My friend just bought an S3, and its a great phone. But my other friend complained that his S3 started lagging / not working so fluidly in games, etc. He also mentioned that he had almost filled his storage with games. Whereas on my Nexus 4, I have only about 2.3 GB of remaining space (I play games), YET it works as though there is nothing on it. Its like the day I bought it. The S3 lag is probably because of TouchWiz. Although I've also seen many S3's with full storage but very fluid and absolutely no lags.
My opinion: If you're a camera guy, or a storage person, go for the S3.
If you're not any of the above, Nexus 4.
Good Luck!
Although there are ROMs for the GS3 now, theres no guarantee that development will continue popularly for newer android versions, since the GS3 has the exynos chip. Neuxs 4 will always have devs. Thats the main reason i bought the N4 over the GS3.
The only things Galaxy S3 scores over Nexus 4 is Camera, removable battery and expandable storage.
Nexus 4 is ahead in the rest. Snapdragon S4 in nexus is more closer to Snapdragon 600 in Galaxy S4 than the processor in galaxy s3.
Nexus 4 will also get timely software updates for atleast 2 more years. The S3 will get at max next 2 android updates and those to 4-8 months after its release.

I think he is hinting at the Wolfson DAC that's present in S3. Wolfson does sound better than the Qualcomm one in N4. But it's not a whole lot better. It's definitely far better than the Yamaha crap present in the S2.

I am use N4, before use S3. Nexus 4 more fastest, desing is very cool and premium, CPU, GPU and memory more. . . S3 ****!!!!
It's only a matter of preference. I chose the nexus 4 over the s3 since it was unlocked, and that I can get instant updates the second Google releases them. Spec wise, they are fairly even tbh.

I had the s3 first, then won some money on a bet and decided to buy nexus 4. I instantly fell in love and sold the s3 straight away.
N4 feels better, looks better (i like black) and runs better. Its also extremely easy to root and have fun modding with.
thank you all
i will save some money and get N4

Also if u just want a phone for making calls, taking pics, listening to music, & other normal uses, get S3.
If u want fast android upgrades, rooting, custom ROMs, etc , then get Nexus 4

Surely for those uses out of the two you'd take the N4 any day since it's cheaper and does those things pretty much as well as the S3?

Would you recommend this device

OK so I will be getting a new device soon and I'm torn between this phone or the galaxy s4. So I'm wondering will this device be supported for a long time. And will it be just as fast.considering its snapdragon s4 vs snapdraggon 600

i'm sure you will love this phone. So far I've never found a phone with a better overall than nexus 4.
The design is classy and the processor is very good. battery life is good. and the front and the back of the phone is made by gorilla glass. camera is 8mp with flash supported. and there is front camera as well. Easy to customize and root. i've root a lot of phone before and this is the easiest. I root my n4 in <5mins. And the price is not really expensive as well. so this is really recommended. it's hard to find a better phone than n4 at its price.
I have had my Nexus 4 for two months now and am happy with the choice I made. I do recommend a good case or at least a bumper and screen protector. I would only consider the Google Edition Galaxy S4, and you will pay a $200 premium over the cost of the Nexus 4.
This phone will be supported for at least 2 years down the line with ota updates second to none. That alone makes it better than any other phone in my book. Plus most of the snapdragon 600's power is wasted on Samsung's touchwiz so the nexus 4 is at least as fast as the s4.
Posting threads like this get you a very biased opinion.
I will try to be as straight as I can without sounding like a device fan boy.
Decide what you are gonna do with the device. The nexus 4 is outstanding on the development side but lacking on features. Next decide how much time you want to spend messing with your device. Battery can be a bug factor. Next decide on memory. Nexus is limited there. Then choose the best device that suites you.
As long as it fits your needs there is no wrong device.

Yes and no. Depends on your usage patterns. Battery life on 4.2.2 was respectable. However with the 4.3 update a slew of problems have been found. My Nexus 4 currently has the: low battery life, camera flash bug, boot loader on power off bug, AOSP keyboard bug.
I would suggest asking around. If you need a workable phone (for now) get a N4 with 4.2.2 else go for 4.3 to save time

Yes while that's true I personally thing touch wiz is s*it and if I get the s4 I will be flashing cm and a customers kernel on it first thing. And I do spend a lot of time messing with my phone. Over clocking. Building customers kernels with extra features etc also a lot of time gaming and listening to music. And I'm not sure about the storage in the n4 because I do use a lot of storage for music pictures/video etc. And I do like the bigger screen of the s4 but I like the support the n4 will be getting. Even though I will be building/flashing custome ROMs/kernels on which ever phone I get. So that's kind of where I'm torn about it the storage and screen size of the s4 but the openness and support of the n4
