Hi guys
I am going to buy a new phone
I am a little confused between LG NEXUS 4 and Samsung Galaxy S3
In my country both have the same prices
I want your opinions please
And one more thing
I saw a video on YouTube shows that N4 better than S3 in GPU only and. S3 beats N4 in other things
Is that true???
Please answer me ASAP
THANK YOU

Well
I asked same question but between LG 4X and Nexus 4 in 4X forum and people advised me to buy N4 although that was 4X forum

Yeah but in that case it's almost objective that the N4 is superior in pretty much every way. There's definitely a case to be made for the S3 but in my opinion unless you care about the storage or camera the N4 is the superior choice.

Yesterday, I saw the Galaxy Note II, Galaxy SIII and the Galaxy SIV.
The performance was great, but I have a Nexus 4 for 5 months now, and I would, even I know the features of all the new phones like the HTC One and so on, go and buy this phone again, because it's so great.
This phone is stock android, and therefore nearly all apps and tweaks and mods are working on that.
Most applications are made for the Nexus 4, because it's the model for all other smartphones, so said google.
It has always the newest software and so great ROMs, like the PACman Rom e.g.
When I first saw the Xperia Z, I found, that this device has a really bad performance and really bad colors for a newer device and for a such praised phone, in my opinion.
At least the Galaxy Devices have always these AMOLED displays, and I don't understand, why so much people like these, because I saw them in the Telekom shop and there is always text like "Turn on the LTE" branded in the screens.
If I were you, I would go and buy a Nexus 4

If you are planning to keep your new phone for good, than it should be a Nexus, cause it will get all the recent updates and has a great development thread here on XDA too.
Nexus 4.
GS3 is a great device... But my friends always complain that it lags after a while... Which is a product of TW. So go with the N4, I love mine.
My friend just bought an S3, and its a great phone. But my other friend complained that his S3 started lagging / not working so fluidly in games, etc. He also mentioned that he had almost filled his storage with games. Whereas on my Nexus 4, I have only about 2.3 GB of remaining space (I play games), YET it works as though there is nothing on it. Its like the day I bought it. The S3 lag is probably because of TouchWiz. Although I've also seen many S3's with full storage but very fluid and absolutely no lags.
My opinion: If you're a camera guy, or a storage person, go for the S3.
If you're not any of the above, Nexus 4.
Good Luck!
Although there are ROMs for the GS3 now, theres no guarantee that development will continue popularly for newer android versions, since the GS3 has the exynos chip. Neuxs 4 will always have devs. Thats the main reason i bought the N4 over the GS3.
The only things Galaxy S3 scores over Nexus 4 is Camera, removable battery and expandable storage.
Nexus 4 is ahead in the rest. Snapdragon S4 in nexus is more closer to Snapdragon 600 in Galaxy S4 than the processor in galaxy s3.
Nexus 4 will also get timely software updates for atleast 2 more years. The S3 will get at max next 2 android updates and those to 4-8 months after its release.

I think he is hinting at the Wolfson DAC that's present in S3. Wolfson does sound better than the Qualcomm one in N4. But it's not a whole lot better. It's definitely far better than the Yamaha crap present in the S2.

I am use N4, before use S3. Nexus 4 more fastest, desing is very cool and premium, CPU, GPU and memory more. . . S3 ****!!!!
It's only a matter of preference. I chose the nexus 4 over the s3 since it was unlocked, and that I can get instant updates the second Google releases them. Spec wise, they are fairly even tbh.

I had the s3 first, then won some money on a bet and decided to buy nexus 4. I instantly fell in love and sold the s3 straight away.
N4 feels better, looks better (i like black) and runs better. Its also extremely easy to root and have fun modding with.
thank you all
i will save some money and get N4

Surely for those uses out of the two you'd take the N4 any day since it's cheaper and does those things pretty much as well as the S3?

So recently I was looking at the TELUS store and some electronic places at some accessories and so forth. I can never resist checking out the latest phones out on display and the Galaxy Nexus was all alone so I walked on up to try it out.
I was very surprised to find that my Nexus S (CM9 with all my apps) was actually running far more responsively and cleanly then any Galaxy Nexus I have seen in stor or from a friend!
I know in store phones are always a bad comparison but on my friends Galaxy Nexus phone he had very few apps, and the rest stock but for some reason, it seemed like his phones touch response was just to off for me to like it.
Granted there is a large difference in the displays and Galaxy Nexus is powering a lot more then our Nexus S but keep in mind this is the flagship Android 4 phone, and in my choice, I prefer my Nexus S even considering the step up in processors.
(Before you say anything, I know that Galaxy Nexus has its own ROMs but that still shouldn't be a life saver in this case)

Of course, since Galaxy Nexus has a lot better specs than Nexus S. It would be crazy if Nexus S is more smooth than Galaxy Nexus.

You're comparing a customized nexus s to a stock galaxy nexus. Hardly seems fair. Compare stock to stock and then see if you feel the same way.
No. I get what he's saying. Customized or not the nexus s shouldn't compete. While I don't have a galaxy nexus yet I do have the epic touch 4g.. and no matter what I do to my nexus it will never ever compete with the raw power of the galaxy s II. I would have thought it would have been the same for the galaxy nexus...

I'm pretty sure it is. Some people confuse the longer window animations in the default ICS as meaning the OS is slower. I highly doubt CM9 on a Nexus S is actually more "smooth" than the GN.
The GN is a powerhouse. There's simply no comparison. Of course a tweaked and customized OS is better. Also, the unresponsiveness may be because of the dirty screen from the crap other people put on it trying out the phone.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
I'm pretty surprised that you think that, having handled both myself, there really is no competition, even though I wish my phone could keep up.
As an aside though, the main reason I'm still here with a Nexus S, is because I find the GN to be extremely disappointing. Sure it beats a phone that's well over a year old now, but IMO, can't hang with the S2 at all. I think the S2 will be the big dog until the S3 comes out.
When making comparisons of "smoothness", I think we need to specify what action is being compared. I've never held an actual Galaxy Nexus, so can't comment on that. But my Nexus S with custom ROM & tweaks feels smoother when scrolling menus and snappier when loading apps compared to my brother's Galaxy SII. The SII, though, shows its superiority when playing video.
I've tried a Galaxy Nexus in a store nearby, and it is way more faster than my Nexus S. From unlocking the lockscreen, starting camera app, starting app drawer, loading settings etc. The GN was way more faster than my NS (running a stock based rom at the time)
And it would be strange if a phone running Android 4 on a chipset that was made for it would be less responsive
The gnex is way faster that my nexus s, the only way I even saw my nexus get close to the same speed was by overclocking it to 1.6 ghz, and even then the gnex destroyed it
I wouldn't get it tho, I agree with an earlier post about the galaxy s2 being more desirable than the gnex.
I mean look at how fast our nexus s got outdated, only a year ago this was the flagship gb phone that was supposed to be the best. gnex being the flagship 4.0 phone will be the same way, give it 2-3 months and something twice as crazy as the gnex will be announced, and at the rate of smartphone development with quad core being the next big thing the gnex will be outdated in less than a year

Sadly, just like any smartphone on the market
But what I love with Nexus'es is that, even after a year or more, it's still supported like the first day and you always can profit of the last ROM's. Just look at the Galaxy S to see that it's not always so with non-Google phones of the same generation.
Still loving my Nexus S, even if I wouldn't say no to a Galaxy Nexus, especially for the HD display and the HDMI out

galaxy nexus seems huge!
Whose build you are using on the Nexus plays a big part in how fast and smooth ICS is on Nexus. I flash one and it feels a little slow and almost choppy. Then I flash another and it flies and is so smooth. You can't go wrong with aokp, irtehun, or BuglessPete on Nexus. Can't say how it compares to GNex though

I had the S3 on Verizon and T-Mobile and I an very pleased with my decision to switch to the N4. The S3 had a few cool features like flipping the phone over to silence it by to me nothing beats vanilla Android. What ever the S3 had I can probably get an app or widget or ROM to to on the N4. And I'm on stock 4.2.2. The carrier S3 won't have it for a while. The fact that my N4 cane out the box unlocked AND only cost me $350 + shipping and tax was a no brainer for me.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
I too came from a T-Mobile GS3 and I've got to say that I do not regret the switch at all. This phone has longevity , in terms of Android updates, compared to the GS3. Yeah the screen is smaller but honestly HD videos look deeper and more to real life than they did on the GS3. And the on-screen buttons don't bother me as much as I thought they would. If you have a wallpaper with a black bottom, they'll blend right in! And if you are worried about the fixed storage there are programs that'll make the Nexus 4 an external media device so you can drag, drop, copy, and paste. You'll like the phone I promise.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Yea , that's almost the only thing trying to hold me back is the storage, but I know eventually external storage wont be a option in the future.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
external storage isnt really an issue for me but i have to say I switched from a tmobile white S3 and I love the nexus 4 WAYYYYY better. I was never crazy about the s3, even now the s4, the whole bubbly plasticky design and weird colorful gingerbread looking theme.. It's alright and I found it weird that I wanted to sell it because it did everything I wanted to and had a great screen but it had no "pull". The nexus 4 however, the minute I opened that box, i was like wow, this look and feels better than all the 1080p youtube review videos i watched. It's so much nicer, sleeker, feels better in the hands.
I know the s3 is a popular phone so it has good dev or community but think the nexus 4 has more and with the Paranoid Android and pie controls, it has the same real estate and usability screen size as the s3. The s3's colors are brighter and has a little bit better outdoor visibility but the nexus 4 has much better call quality and what seems like faster gps lock on. Plus it has 2 gb of ram and i think with the dev community has a lot more potential, if you can go without the extra storage.
I switched fro note 2.. I do miss the size of screen and spen a bit, but all other is amazing on N4

Unless there is something about the GS3 that you really dislike then it is not much of an upgrade and isn't worth buying it as an upgrade. Might aswell wait for the next nexus phone. Just slap some CM10.1 or AOSPA on the GS3

+1 to this. While I prefer the N4 to the GS3 there's really very little difference and it's not enough of an upgrade to be worth buying. You won't notice any significant difference in speed or performance between a GS3 with CM10.1 and a N4 running stock, and I'm pretty sure the camera on the N4 is worse than the GS3's.
Thanks to everyone that has taken the Time to reply , it's not that I dislike the s3, but what I do hate is the really slow updates , so I doubt the S3 will get klp,, and like I said I take lots of pics and to me , from few pics I took , the ones from the N4 looked to had better color , on the s3 they looked wash out compare to the N4,,,, this where indoor pics btw . Last few phones I had, Galaxy Nexus, HTC international One X, Galaxy Note 2, now the Nexus 4.
Nexus all the way. Nothing beats the simple and minimalist design of a Nexus. Nothing flashy or fancy, just a cool black slab of a phone, with a light OS.
I have owned a ton of phones over the years, every Nexus phone too, and lots of phones in between each Nexus. But I kept each Nexus the longest. Just love the minimal design and understated look of the phone.

Got mine 2 days ago, after 2 years with Samsung (s2 + s3)
Gotta say, I love the nexus so far, but the battery life and camera quality really is a downgrade from the s3...but we knew that, and I thought it would be a price worth paying for a true Google experience....only time will tell if I am right or not, but I'm going to enjoy the speed and smoothness for a while before making my final decision on which device to sell.
Quick question...are any of you guys experiencing weird battery behaviour? Mine sometimes drops 20% after a reboot, but then goes back up. Cheers all
Again, thanks to all the replies,
I went ahead and order it,
I wasn't really looking for a big "upgrade " but also i dont want to take a "step back", so i wanted to know if it was worth the switch, , I really hope the camera is not to bad, I know a lot of people saying that its a downgrade from a gs3,,, but the pictures I took indoors , to me they look really good, , Im just tired of spending money buying new phones because the carriers/ manufacturers don't update them, so from I read, Google supports at least 2 yrs on nexus phones so I should be keeping this one for at least 1yr or even 2yrs ,, thanks again to everyone

You need to make that decision for yourself. I personally am never leaving nexus because I can't stand the crap HTC and at&t put me through, and updates from carriers are extremely slow and unlocking your boot loader voids your warranty, etc. I'm done with it. I can tolerate no LTE and slightly older hardware if it means being the top dog and getting catered to by Google.
In the end, only you can make the choice. There are pros and cons for each device

A typical S3, S4 shopper doesn't know what and Android is, they just buy what they are told to be the other phone that is not an Iphone, the words "operation system" makes them bertstare at you, do you want to be associated with them?
At this point in the game, no matter how powerful phones will get, the N4's hardware will be good for years, we're overkilling our needs currently in my opinion.
It may be behind in synthetic benchmarks and will get left in the dust from now on but seriously, a quad core krait, Adreno 320, and 2GB of RAM? It'll be fine for a while.
Remember, most apps and even probably most games only use/need a basic dual core and a gig of RAM for functioning.
Imo, if you're into AMOLED, then go for the S4. I love Nexus devices, I love theming for them and what not. S3 didn't really wowed me much but the S4 managed to do so, I used it yesterday and I fell for it! Mainly because I'm very much into AMOLED and I love that crisp 1080p display.
If you asked us whether to jump off the bridge or not and we told you yes do it, would have you done it?

My thoughts exactly. I'll be sticking with this n4 until the dubbed "nexus 5" is released. The. Current n4 to the new n4 is essentially an HTC one X to an HTC One X+.

Saw a review of the n4 vs the s4. Obviously didn't pass the s4 in processing power . but they pointed out that most apps don't even take advantage of the speed that the n4 possess. I've owned 3 devices with SAMOLED and all of them have had issues. My SGS died and went green, My SGS II would go orange/Yellow at medium brightness and the GNexus had a slight blue tint. Switched to the N4 and love the screen.
My N4 will be with me for a long time yet. Looks amazing up against more plasticy phones
look at the HTC one before looking at the S4, im getting the One myself tonight.
I'm going to have to agree with most replies posted already. I'm sticking with the Nexus 4 for another year, then maybe getting a Nexus 6 (or whatever that next Nexus device will be called). The phone is so insanely cheap, yet packs the latest and greatest hardware. It's perfect. Yeah, the newer phones coming out like the S4 will have slightly better hardware, but it's been 6 months since the Nexus 4 got released. That happens with every cell phone in the history of cell phones. Heck, the Nexus 5 will probably have better hardware than the S4 when it finally comes out.
I guess what I'm trying to say OP, is make that decision for yourself. All phones have their pros and cons. If I were in your shoes, I would try to wait for the N5, but I can see the appeal of getting the S4. It's a darn-good phone, and you don't have to wait for it to be released. Actually, I was in your shoes a few weeks ago. I ended up getting the Nexus 4 because it's still a solid phone, and I don't have to wait for the Nexus 5 to come out, plus I can get it off contract for close to the price I'd have to pay for the S4 on-contract. There are multiple things you have to consider when making that decision. Some things that helped me make my decision and will help you makes yours is some comparison articles. Google something like "Nexus 4 vs Galaxy S4". The article will be comparing the Nexus 4 instead of the Nexus 5, but it will still be helpful because they usually touch on things like pure Android vs company-customized Android and the pros and cons of each, among other important things.
Actually, depending on how time-sensitive your decision is, I would wait until Google's I/O event to see if they will be revealing a newer version of the N4, or maybe teasing the specs of the N5. That should help your decision.
For me software plays a big part and with a nexus device we will see 4.3 soon, and key lime pie after that. The sgs4 and others will still be on older software.
Sure the Samsung has a better camera, expendable storage, removable battery if those things are important too you then purchase the Samsung. For me 16gb is enough for my needs, the battery lasts me a day without having to recharge, and the camera takes ok shots I can live with that until the next nexus.
Decide what you need out of a phone, only you can decide that, handle the Samsung and see how you feel with it.

Depends on what you want. The downsides to the N4 are the camera, lack of expandable storage/removable battery and fragility of the glass back. Everything else on the N4 is a plus. The GS4 is better in most ways in terms of hardware but it feels awful in the hand and TouchWiz actually makes it lag despite having a Snapdragon 600. Personally, I'd choose the N4 since I don't feel there's anything on the GS4 that makes it worth hundreds of pounds/dollars more than the N4. It ultimately comes down to your own opinion though, nobody can decide for you.

Granted the GS4 has better specs. My brother in law just got one on Verizon. Looks great, but the feel isn't as solid as the N4 IMO. Also no wireless charging is a negative for me at this point, because I bought a few of the wireless pads already lol.
N4 definitely feels more fluid and smooth. I feel like the n4 will "work" better than s4 in terms of development. But s4 beats it everywhere else. Speaking about n4 downfall.... I'm running out of space..Lol

I used to have a GS3.
Just recently moved to N4 after getting tired of turning all my Galaxy phones into nexii and i don't miss a thing about the S3. The only thing I can give to the S4 is the 13MP camera that its got on the back but other than that I'm Nexus all the way. Feels way more fluid plus Touchwiz is pure rubbish in my opinion. Even my girlfriend wants me to root her S4 after seeing my Nexus in action.
It's all about what's a dealbreaker for you. For me it was the screen, i got tired of the saturation on AMOLED screens where whites looked like blues and yellows compared to the N4.
Cheers

I would either get GS4 GE or Mi 2S
Id get the gs4.. It has expandable storage, removable battery, better camera, screen plus its made of polycarbonate which is an amazing material. Processors also faster and alot of the samsung software is excellent. I used to hate touchwiz but nowadays it is actually a feature and not a con imho.
The N4 is cheaper though and as others have stated, it feels nice in the hand, is better looking and has wireless charging. For me however, GS4>N4 and i would trade my N4 for one any day if i could cover the difference.
Youll be happy with whichever one you get

If money isn't an issue, get the s4. If it is an issue then I would get the nexus 4. regardless of the phone you choose, you will get an awesome android experience

If you're getting it on contract and don't care for price i would recommend the gs4 just cause its newer and has better hardware but still the n4 is smoother as I've used both. If it were me I would get the one over both though or the one Google edition

I am on S2. Found the N4 fm retailer at 360 euro and the S4 at 485 euro..
Should I go for the Nexus?
Appreciate insight..
p.s. my biggest concern is lack of expandable storage and nexus bugs as reported here in xda (S4 bugs too)
If I had the cash I'll definitely go for the S4, better in every aspect except updates. But looking at Sammy's update history, they are the fastest one second to Google.

N4 for sure. It just feels great in the hands. I hate all the bells and whistles that the G4 comes with and would end up making it pure vanilla anyways. Unless they were the exact same price i wouldn't consider the G4. A lot of my storage is in the cloud and I save game saves on dropbox. Therefore i just uninstall games when i get bored with them. I don't see a use to having 300 apps installed just because you can and all my music is with google music so its all streaming.

I second the "bells and whistles"! Same thing with my S2.. I ended up with custom rom (rootbox) - to avoid all the bloat - which is very close to stock android with some extra feats..
I believe I will take the plunge for Nexus 4 in the end.. A colleague of mine got it and is reaaaally fluid (he kept it stock-unrooted). And if you think abt it you may not even need rooting it at all..

Even just stock kernel and rom rooted. I personally cannot live without root call blocker, root explorer, datasync and adaway. I only went with an AOKP ROM because I'm a tweaker.

The N4 is awesome and youll be surprised how happy and comfortable it is on stock rooted or unrooted.
The next nexus should be out within 5 months so it really depends on how desperate you are for a new phone. The N4 is really nice but whats the N5. Who knows. with tech these days the next big thing is always around the corner, you can never catch it.
OK so I will be getting a new device soon and I'm torn between this phone or the galaxy s4. So I'm wondering will this device be supported for a long time. And will it be just as fast.considering its snapdragon s4 vs snapdraggon 600

Def you should get, no question.
From the Nexus 4000
Nexus 4 is 1000x times better than Galaxy S4
So go for it!

i'm sure you will love this phone. So far I've never found a phone with a better overall than nexus 4.
The design is classy and the processor is very good. battery life is good. and the front and the back of the phone is made by gorilla glass. camera is 8mp with flash supported. and there is front camera as well. Easy to customize and root. i've root a lot of phone before and this is the easiest. I root my n4 in <5mins. And the price is not really expensive as well. so this is really recommended. it's hard to find a better phone than n4 at its price.
I have had my Nexus 4 for two months now and am happy with the choice I made. I do recommend a good case or at least a bumper and screen protector. I would only consider the Google Edition Galaxy S4, and you will pay a $200 premium over the cost of the Nexus 4.
This phone will be supported for at least 2 years down the line with ota updates second to none. That alone makes it better than any other phone in my book. Plus most of the snapdragon 600's power is wasted on Samsung's touchwiz so the nexus 4 is at least as fast as the s4.
Posting threads like this get you a very biased opinion.
I will try to be as straight as I can without sounding like a device fan boy.
Decide what you are gonna do with the device. The nexus 4 is outstanding on the development side but lacking on features. Next decide how much time you want to spend messing with your device. Battery can be a bug factor. Next decide on memory. Nexus is limited there. Then choose the best device that suites you.
As long as it fits your needs there is no wrong device.

Yes and no. Depends on your usage patterns. Battery life on 4.2.2 was respectable. However with the 4.3 update a slew of problems have been found. My Nexus 4 currently has the: low battery life, camera flash bug, boot loader on power off bug, AOSP keyboard bug.
I would suggest asking around. If you need a workable phone (for now) get a N4 with 4.2.2 else go for 4.3 to save time

Yes while that's true I personally thing touch wiz is s*it and if I get the s4 I will be flashing cm and a customers kernel on it first thing. And I do spend a lot of time messing with my phone. Over clocking. Building customers kernels with extra features etc also a lot of time gaming and listening to music. And I'm not sure about the storage in the n4 because I do use a lot of storage for music pictures/video etc. And I do like the bigger screen of the s4 but I like the support the n4 will be getting. Even though I will be building/flashing custome ROMs/kernels on which ever phone I get. So that's kind of where I'm torn about it the storage and screen size of the s4 but the openness and support of the n4

If ( You like to get most choices of ROMs || You like to **** around, brick your phone, come back alive, brick deeper next time, and die hard 4.0 || Must have latest version of android || Love AOSP || Hate Samsung )
Get Nexus.4;
Else If ( Don't trust LG )
Get Oppo.Find.5;
Else
Get HTC.One;
If ( You have extra cash to spare ) {
Donate -o my bank;
Get Samsung.Galaxy.S4;
}
