Guys and Gals,
Please do us all a favor and do some analysis prior posting a rant or complaint about this build or that build in the cooks thread, do us a favor and do a little bit of analysis so you can give those that might be able to help some more info other than "this build sucks and my phone is broken".
And certainly dont ask what build you should try next because noone is gonna give you that info. Every cook had placed a disclaimer in there thread (I think) cautioning that all this is at your own risk.
I, for one, am tired of reading posts that do nothing more than bash the work of the people that are putting in all the time.
I think asking which build is "best" is a natural question but you make very valid points.
My only complaint is the lack of stickies for informative threads that could answer noob questions before they even get a chance to scroll down.
the things you are asking people to do are located in almost every thread in the Android forums. If they haven't stopped asking questions that could be answered with 5 minutes of reading or tested out ROMs on their own before this thread, you posting a thread about it is not going to change anything.
who u calling a noob
all the stickies and informative threads in the world aren't gonna stop people asking the same dumbass questions over and over and over and over again.....
people are just lazy and want to be spoon fed....... (most of em anyway)

Ah yes, another example of the supreme arrogace of many of the denizens of this forum.
Sorry, but the vast majority of the information about the specifics of running android on the HD2 is buried or never well explained.
Examples include the PPP vs RMNET dichotomy, different kernel sources, AXI, how ringtones on the internal data store don't work, etc.
Hell, I've been floating around for over a month and still don't have a clue what AXI means.
While I agree, that yes, a lot of questions can be answered from the couple of informative stickies, it is irritating how much info it is assumed you know, and the casual disregard for how much of a time investment is actually needed to get a handle on what is going on.
@OP... your sentiment is appreciated but this won't serve any purpose except to start a flame war. Locking it down.
"Have you really tried searching the forums?"
Over the last couple of weeks I've been noticing A LOT of repeat posts.
Especially about which ROMs to use or which ROMs are better and how to root and unroot.
Though I'm sure it would be MUCH easier for you to just start a new thread, you are filling up the forum with repetitive posts and this will drive members to stop answering your questions. Why? Because they've answered it so many times before.
I'm not angry. I'm just confused. Wondering why no one searches old posts for answers to old questions.
Just because you just now, at this very moment encountered a new problem doesn't mean it's new to everyone else. It's more than likely been asked, addressed and resolved.
And then if you can't find what you're looking for. Ask. =P Everyone here is really helpful.
But please refrain from repeating.
But please refrain from repeating.
But please refrain from repeating.
But please refrain from repeating.
But please refrain from repeating.
See what I did there? Annoying huh?
Help yourself before you expect others to help you.

It is well known that the Fascinate forums have been quiet. Many people have moved on to different phones and forums. In fact, it seemed like the Fascinate forums would wither away.
Then something changed. Enyo came to these forums and reinvigorated them and brought them back to their former glory. Gone were the days of few posts and nothing interesting. Good times were back again. ROMS were released. Lulz were had.
Then the dark clouds of oppression began to gather once more. Forum users complained that other users complained too much. People began to fail to see humor in life and started reporting Enyo's threads. The threads that have given us so much joy and are quite frankly one of the few reasons many of us even come to xda any more have been closed.
So, should xda continue to close Enyo's threads?
No. I enjoy shanangens and asshatery.

No way his threads take xda to a me level of entertainment with many lols. They are way to much fun. Won't be surprised if this thread gets closed as well

Keep the threads going! Till the truth comes out. They are very interesting. Maybe he is sincerely trying his best to learn how. The whole problem is, his problem with the truth, if he would have said look I'm learning, i can't make any promises, have patience with me etc. It would be whole different ball game. But hey let him learn.

I imagine this thread will be closed as well, unfortunately Just ask Old Man James what happened when he petitioned to have the "poll" thread reopened
Has anyone seen John Connor?
This thread isn't concerned with retroactively overturning decisions like that poll was. This thread is taking a poll on the general consensus for prospective policy.
No keep them open! Im finding this stuff to be full of lulz. At first I was a bit uptight about the flaming, but the more enyo posts, the more he brings it on himself. I respect the fact he is putting a effort into bringing the fascinate commmunity more roms, but he could stand to be a bit more tactful with his threads/posts. Then again maybe enyo is a know dev that created another account to mess with us abit...you guys got me thinking now. who is enyo actually...the unsolved mysteries of xda lol.

I can try to create some lulz threads of my own, but I could never hope to attain to Enyo's level of mastery and sheer comedic dominance
Has anyone seen John Connor?
All this thread closing has to be affecting morale. I need him in good spirits so we can get a Honeycome port on our Gameboy Colors.
Enyo is a great developer of roms. What else would 25/16 of Fascinate users use? I look forward to his webOS ROM.
all i can say at this point is that i only closed one of enyo's threads and it was not for my own opinion or any user reports, but enyo himself requested the closing. as the op of that specific thread he was entitled to that, just like any noobs that posts a [Q] thread can demand to have it closed or deleted once they have the answers they wanted or for whatever other reason there might be.
Also, as stated on another thread before, personally, i don't mind a little off-topic posting, fun and general discussion. after all, no tv and no beer make homer something something...
however, one must not forget that xda-dev has 4 million users, one million threads and the reputation of being THE smartphone community, THE go-to forum for news, apps, tweaks, roms and hacks and that is something that should be kept that way. new users should not get the impression that all this is, is flaming, trolling and memes. there are other places on the internet for that. just look at what happened to the comments on engadget, or engadget altogether.
so, to a certain point, you can keep having fun, but before you post, please think about the big picture, whether your post is really necessary and what would happen, if everybody here posted like that and useful information would be buried under tons of crap, what happens to users that need actual help with their semi-broken devices and all they find is lulz.
So, to get back to the question at hand:
- i believe that any thread starter should be entitled to decide, whether or not his/her thread should be closed
- if there are too many reports by other users about a thread getting out of hand, it should not be closed, but the reported posts should be deleted and the users should eventually be infracted. in general, if it was not the op, that was reported, he/she should not suffer for having their thread hijacked
- this thread, as well as the other poll will neither be closed nor deleted YET, as you are free to discuss issues like this, but once these polls had a run of a week or two, there should be enough results in on how the community feels, and i will follow the results. if this turns out to be another troll thread, it will be closed /deleted before that.

I agree with you man... specially the last part that i bolded and underlined...
but it turns out most/all of these threads turn into people trolling or flaming. it is really really starting to get out of hand and i am getting tired of deleting posts by the tens. and then coming back to the same thread 2 hours later to clean out more junk posts....
regarding ENYO's threads. Him and i have traded pm's and we have agreed to leave the threads closed until he can post some evidence or links regarding his work. If i just reopen them, you trolls and flamers are just gonna start up again, so his threads remain closed until then.
@blobloblaw1 I don't appreciate you opening threads regarding this topic. i know you can discuss this and you aren't breaking any rules but i think you know this is just gonna start more flaming and ultimatly end up in a flame war.

I'd prefer to have the conversation and hope that we are all mature enough to handle it rather than stifle discussion because we fear that something annoying might happen. Regardless, discussion on the issue will happen and if that discussion isn't here, it's going to spill over into the ROM threads. Off topic chatter in ROM threads is infinitely more annoying in most people's opinions.
I guess the news that has come out is that the threads were only closed due to OP (Enyo) asking them to be closed. So anyway, this is more of a non-happening than it seemed.

fwiw, (and this is just me talking out loud about my own preferences) hype threads shouldnt be allowed or be limited or something
the vast majority of trolling/flaming results from them
i consider myself a legit developer (although xda doesnt seem to want to recognize me as such currently but w/e) and at best ill occasionally put sneak peak pics/coming soon stuff in existing rom threads that i alread maintain....i dont start 5 bazillion threads with ridiculous claims like 243/79ths of the community use my teams work, or just hype up roms that may or may not see the light of day
granted i enjoy the lulz that are associated with all of it, but it seems the main problem isnt going away, which is one particular individual constantly repeating his/hers same mistakes
just label his as waste of time
Hello everyone,
I'm sure many of you have been frustrated with having to answer the same questions 39 times in any given ROM/Kernel thread, or at least have had to read through people asking & answering the same questions over and over.
Or maybe you've had to read the past 85 posts in a thread, b/c you missed 2-3 days of action b/c you were busy, just to keep up, so you could save face, and not ask a question that was already answered.
Or maybe you just like helping out, and keeping threads clean.
Well, I'm trying to get some momentum requesting that the Devs enable the in-thread Wiki post. It's a post that shows up after the OP that allows anyone to edit/update content. Better than an external Wiki...b/c it's RIGHT after the OP & our MODs won't have to waste time updating their OPs over and over...we can do it for them, AND we can save everyone time.
If you like this idea, please respond to my post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21592127#post21592127
Just trying to save some headache and trim down the post count in some of our eternally long and monotonous threads.
Ciao-time
how do we know that xdas forum code is able to include this?
Not only that but the people that repost the same questions over and over are the people that don't read the OP anyways... imo it might cut down on a couple dumb/repetitive posts, but not many...

Please understand, this is not aimed at all moderators here... Just a couple that are taking the fun out it, or are just bored. You have the power, and most often are right! But I am seeing a few over using their powers here.
I see the Verizon note 4 forums dying very quickly. Someone starts a thread about getting a new Note 4 and it gets locked because it's irrelevant..? I see someone start a thread about sprint getting lollipop, showing its coming, and it gets locked because there is a dead lollipop thread from 2 months ago that already has mentioned. But the mod is wrong... The newest lollipop thread is about sprint getting it first in the states and obviously trying to get the Vzw Note forums going again. No harm in that at all.
I am seeing these type of actions a lot in this forum by mods.
Instead the mods allow threads that state goodbye Note 4 hello Nexus 6 and others that are negative and not useful to this forum.
Give it to me guys. I bet this thread gets locked and deleted immediately. I am sorry for this, I'm just upset at the over moderating...
Although sometimes I question, taking a step back and looking at the entire pictures does make some sense as to why they are doing this.
Watching many of the posts that have been coming through, end up getting garbled into nothing but arguing, off-topic or such. They have countlessly had to re-direct and delete topics/posts due to this. Doing so makes it hard to allow other posts that have similar topic meaning as another that they do not want to have to moderate yet again. Keeping the threads down to a more centralized, easier flow of topics is what they are more likely aiming for.
This is coming from a staff member of another forums, Good day to you.
Hi Leroy, My name is Josh.
I appreciate you voicing your concern publicly on the forums.
I closed your previous seemingly duplicate thread on this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...e-4-moderators-to-chill-t3057547#post59513029
To your post. I completely respect your opinion and I want to suggest that you get in touch with the moderators if you have concerns instead of opening a thread on it. My doors are always open. As i'm sure other mods are! Shoot me a pm! We're just here doing our best to help.
Gonna close the thread since it will probably turn into a flame war.
