This is my first post on XDA and what a way to start, just bought a Galaxy Note 2 N7100 White today(although I would've loved the grey one but got a good price on this so yeh). Got to say, so far I love the phone and apart from the size, I have no gripes with it. I'm thinking that if I am struggling a little bit right now and it is without a cover, how would it be with a cover on? I guess I'll use it for a few days and see. Galaxy S3 feels tiny in the hand now lol(never thought I'd say that). I have a couple of questions and would be glad if someone could answer them.
Does anyone know how to make one app full screen when using the multiwindow feature? Also, how to swap apps? I saw a video online which had two buttons next to the divider line but there aren't any buttons showing up on mine. I have an o2 variant if that is any help.
Am i able to flash a stock rom(without o2 splash screen and bloatware) without rooting? Would this unlock the device also?
Thanks

Thanks, and sorry I just realised now, was trying to find how to delete the post and repost it in the Q&A section.
To make the app full screen:
With the arrow in the divider pointing to the app you want full screen, touch the divider. Two options should pop up. Choose the big window.
To change apps:
Drag another app from the multi window to the location of the app you want to replace.

i agree with you, after using my Note II for two weeks. Using my GS3 and One X feels so tiny in the hands
Try using a smaller phone like a non-android 2+ inch screen. When I did it, I was like.. :sly: to to :sly:.

True enough... Note 2 make me love the big phone.... the rest of the small phone :sly:

Sup guys check out this video of my s3. Got multiple s4 apks, wallpapers, themed keyboard, ringtones and all on 4.2.1 sammy rom. Almost looks like the real thing.
Yeah you should also saw off the bezel, move the flash and cram another sensor above the light sensor, then you're set

Started to saw off the bezel but i think i took too much off, Can you suggest a good strong glue to stick some bezel back on please......
The flash Was easy to move but the hole it has left is annoying, will cover it with some paper i think.
Cant figure how to make the camera same pixel as the S4.
I alsl made the screen bigger by wearing some magnifying glasses which looks amazing.

Lol whats next? Spray the whole cover frost white or black mist?. I would rather wait for the s4 then to modify the hardware of the s3. Cause it will and as always be called the galaxy s3
Anybody got this? In low brightness some darker elements(specially gray) start become a little purplish
Also the colors seem less saturated in the default screen mode than the s3(also in standard) i thought i would be the opposite, is my screen defective or is this normal
I tried google but all i get are galaxy nexus results(purple tint)

Welcome to S4. Every galaxy S4 has this. Please refer to other threads on how to get rid of this smearing through software.
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda premium
The OP doesn't mention smearing.
This is a different issue to the smearing problem.
When the brightness is on low greys become purple. I have had 4 different S4s (all had to be replaced due to screen issues) and every single one had this problem on low brightness.
IMO there is no such thing as a perfect S4 screen!
I have finally settled on my 4th replacement and this one is still not great but I'm sick of returning them.
I have a pink tint at the top of this screen and also all the sensors, LED and front camera are misaligned in the casing, All over to the left.
Samsung have REALLY failed on the Quality Control of this device.
So it seems universal, well i will have to turn off auto brightness and use brightness at 30%
Any of u guys came from the s3? Do the s4 colors seem a little less saturated to u guys? I have them both side by side and it seems so

Yes. I had s3 before and the less saturation on S4 is intentional by Samsung. According to some detailed comparison, the colors of s4 are more accurate. It seems odd at first because our eyes are used to the oversatured screen of s3.

yeah, i really got used to my overly-poppy colors, but this screen is still beautiful anyways

Thinking of buying the Note 3 but really wanna know how bad the smearing issue is cause i bought the Galaxy s4 on launch day and couldn't live with the smearing issue ( my girlfriend also bought a Galaxy s4 on launch day and still has it..she didn't think the smearing was annoying..i hated it )
Could someone with a Note 3 try both things explained below on low brightness
1. Download zedge and search for black wallpapers..then while scrolling thru the wallpapers..do you so smearing..purple glow on the grey background in zedge between the wallpapers?
2. Choose a black wallpaper as background and install nova launcher...then on the homescreen set a widget with some grey in it like the stock music player widget and scroll between the homescreens...and also with some icons on the homescreens?
On the Galaxy s4 doing the above there was a lot of smearing..purple glow visible even after the fix from samsung cause they only fixt it in the samsung framework

I tested Zedge.. Yes there is smearing.
But when you uncheck Auto Brightness Smearing is much much better.
Auto Mode is very dark. In a dark room it gets darker again..I recommend manual Brightness 30 - 50%. Then its really fine.

The purple smearing effect is probably just because the greys blur when moving and they appear purple. Entirely normal and probably same on all phones.

Jep. Black = Pixels are off
When you Scroll the Pixels need Time to activate. Thats the Price for real Black

^^ Ditto, I don't find it annoying, I didn't even know about it until the OP mentioned it.
Ive seen it in Tapatalk 2 with blue dark theme..
Black background and gray Text..The complete Text smeared..
Now i use the classic dark theme (dark grey background) and all is fine
Dont think about Smearing.. i think you will just see it in darker rooms.
Thanks a lot guys...you saved me 750 bucks, some people don't find it that big of a issue like my girlfriend who still has the Galaxy s4...for me it is an issue cause i like to have a black background and while using a black background with nova launcher..on my Galaxy s4 the smearing issue was visible on the icons switching thru the homescreens..don't want that on my next phone

Had the Note 2 and there the smearing was not present cause while displaying black the lights where still active. Bought the Galaxy s4 on launch day and that was the first time i had the smearing issue cause when displaying black the amoled screen is really off so when switching to another color like grey the lights need to become active witch creates the smearing. Sold the Galaxy s4 and bought the htc One that has no smearing but wanted a larger screen so bought a Note 2 again witch has no smearing issues cause the screen doesn't turn of like the Galaxy s4 when displaying black and hoped the Note 3 wouldn't have it but seems it does unfortunatly

OR you could've installed one simple app that would've fixed your smearing issue on your S4. Your blacks will not turn off completely and will remove smearing 100%.

Tried it 2 minutes ago on my girlfriends Galaxy s4 and it does reduce it for the most part but at a very low brightness there is still smearing unfortunatly
No problem though cause after the galaxy s1..s2..s3..s4 and note 1 and 2 it's time to give someone else a try

Does SuperAMOLED still have that problem where the screen gets worse the dimmer you set the brightness? It was really bad on my T-mobile S2 with visible lines, better but still gnarly on my S3, and my current Note 2 its okay but the colors look drained and whites dingy. Does the diamond pattern matrix improve any of this in the Note 3?
No!! Its getting worse..mine got yellow tint upper and pink hue below screen... i hav no idea why is samy using this diamond shape where the blue n red is bigger pixel than green..it just prove they are fail in this....

I have same issue trying to decide if I should exchange add I have the phone for a week. If this is present in every phone then should I bother?
Its depends on u either u want to change it or not..for me most probabily i will wait for the next batch..maybe 3 month from now where i believe sammy will fix this problem same like note 1&2..i would trade in or change it during that time..

Telus Note 3 here
I do not have any problems in low light, No blotches, no streaks, no lines, no discoloration
I downloaded the screen test / color test apps too from the Play store, I didn't see any issues that I have had on previous Galaxy Devices.
Maybe It is because I bought it directly from the Samsung store?
I m seeing lines on low brightness.
