Hi all
My HD2 with android CM7.2 freezes weirdly
It seems to freeze when processor is charged (playing video, game...)
Tried 3 differents Radio ROM without success (erasing dalvik cache)
Any idea?
Maybe low available ram? Too many widgets taking up ram space? Does it freeze on all games and videos or just high end games or large videos?
It seems to happen when the phone is warm on the backside
using GPS freezes my HD2 too

What is your over clock CPU value set to? Mine reaches temperatures of 117 and has no problems.

Are you under volted at all?
This might be a faulty motherboard with overheating CPU. You might want to try another ROM to be sure, but if it's it, you can say goodbye to your friend
Thx for your help
Tried 3 different ROMS with the same end.
But battery pins seems not normal especially the middle one.

Are you able to bend them back into shape? I don't think it's to do with the battery pins though, these would cause sudden reboots rather than freezes.
How is your battery life? You could just have a faulty battery where its not able to supply the currect voltage to the motherboard causeing it to freeze. But also check what your temperatures are, as i said above i go up to 117 farenheit when playing graphic intensive games. but i dont freeze lol. So it might be a bad mobo or a bad battery, thats where i would diagnose it to.
it seems to happen when charging
Possible?
Hi all,
Yesterday, when charging my phone using car 12V charger, my HD2 was getting so warm that it freezes immediately.
Weird problem that doesn't happen with my home charger

Hi there XDA people,
i sorta have a problem. I am using the NAND version of the HD2, the hyperdroid rom. . its working perfectly. The problem is that the fone heats up. the battery is life is ok but the fone seriously becomes VERY hot. its not rebooting or freezing or dropping calls like said in the other threads, just heating up. I have tried MANY roms but this problem still persists.
Any fixes??
Thanx alot

Is it getting hot while downloading something? is it getting hot while charging? is it getting hot while just sitting there doing nothing with the screen on? is it getting hot while in standby? What do you mean it becomes very hot?
While using your phone for playing games or intense heavy downloading of large files its normal for any electronic device to put off heat as it is running a lot of proccess through the internal electronics. If its getting hot while just sitting there doing nothing or charging or while in standby, then in 99% of the cases ive seen with any phone, your battery is shot. Despite you getting decent battery life, it still can be shot just because its getting hot. Over time your battery life will drop drastically.
Soryy
sorry man for not mentioning, it gets hot while doing anything. When playing games, it feels like an oven. When charging it does get very hot. it gets a little hot while the screen in on. But there r no problems in functioning, i mean no reboots or that sorta stuff. So shot? i gotta get a new one?

Well while playing games it feeling like an oven is actually normal.. and while charging. But while just having the screen on and doing nothing it shouldnt really get hot at all as the CPU is under no load or a very light load. And by shot, i meant the battery not the phone. a new battery is like 12 bucks from ebay. But it seems from what you described to be normal.
However, you may have a process in the background chewing up more CPU than needed. Download a task MANAGER not killer, to be able to view all the running proccesses. I like and recommend system tuner pro but there are free task managers in the market. once you have that filter the list of running services by CPU usage, the most being at the top. Secondly, download a battery monitor tool from the market, but one that has a tempuratrue option. So you can see the temperature values of it under the different situations.
Right now, being wirelessly tethered, with my phone on the window sill (so its getting some cool air from outside) im at 37.0 degrees celsius. Sometimes when playing high res games(temple run) for awhile i'll reach 41-42 but i cant recall seeing it higher than that.
ok THNX alot
Thank you, uve helped me alot. so charging and playing games, getting hot is normal and ive taken notice of the battery moniter programs. Thanx. At standby, it gets just slightly hot, i mean its hot here in pakistan, maybe cus of that? anyways ill buy a battery after a few months maybe. Thnx Alot

Ah didnt realize you are in pakistan, so yes if your phone is in your pocket or its just generally hot out, then well yeah the phone will be hotter. After further discussion, it seems like everything is normal. But just keep it under watch, not that your battery bursts inside your phone lol take care
You can try switching kernels or undervolting to reduce heat.
Thnx for the tip. will try
Hi i have flashed many nand roms to my hd2 the end result is always the same. phone works fine until i try to play games anywhere between 30s to 10 min and the phone freezes up and is unresponsive. only way to fix is to remove battery. any ideas on what this is why it happens and how to fix it.
what is your ROM? what's your magldr version? what is your HTC HD2 type EU or TMOUS? What is the name of your games? i need more information sir..

I'd hazard a guess at it being an overheating problem. Do you overclock on the ROMs you use? Does the phone get extremely hot? If yes to these, try not overclocking and see if it works.
magldr version is 1.13 and it a tmous hd2 running nexus h2 ics 4.0.4 cm9 hwa v1.2 by tytung. not overclocking running at the standard max of 998Mhz min somewhere around 200. the only option i have used is in the performance settings under memory management i ticked the kenel samepage merging which seems to have reduced the amout of freezing i am experiencing. tried playing the game called drag racing think is by creative mobile. phone on its own works great but even playing angry birds anywhere between 5 to 15min it freezes. noticed yesterday my battery was low so the charge light was flashing and when the screen frooze the light still continued to blink but the phone was totally unresponsive. Any ideas

I have similar problem. But not so often. He is not overclocking, neither do I.
I also use zRam 26%.
This often happens when the phone is under load, so I think that maybe this is due to lack of memory. The phone heats up when the screen freezes.
Any tips?
OK, this might sound stupid but try putting the phone in the fridge for a while to cool it down, then play. Obviously don't do it for too long, it is after all a phone, but I read somewhere that this had helped someone with overheating. I doubt it is a RAM issue cos that wouldn't cause a freeze, it would probably result in the launcher being killed to free up RAM.

not sure putting it in the fridge every time want to play will be quite the fix i am looking for. Might prove the theory that the phone is overheating but then there must be a setting somewhere that can be envoked to get this to stop happening

Yeah I know it isn't a practical solution, I just meant it to test my overheating theory. Perhaps there is a fix, but to be honest if you aren't OCing then I really don't know why it should be heating up so much. Sure, mine gets warm but even when I've played for around an hour on Contract Killer: Zombies (fairly graphically intense and a very fun game) it doesn't shut down or anything. There IS a hardware fix but it's quite dangerous and requires a lot of expertise and the right equipment, neither of which I have Should you wish to try it, just make sure you're very careful
Hey guys,
i noticed my phone was getting a little hot while i had the navagtion app going.
im using the S4 flip cover and right under the back camera, where it says Samsung - I felt the phone getting hot.
Anyone experience this?
Me too
It's always hot.
I mean it gets hot often.
Of course it gets hot because the CPU is right there.

Loool really? Its always under charge when i play or the battery drops in 2 hours i disconnect sometime when it become too hot

Using while charging is fine unless it is overheating.
The reason it's recommended not to use the phone while charging is because it reaches high temperatures much faster and so is more likely to overheat causing hardware problems
I personally don't game while charging since this phone (especially i9505) gets really hot really fast

yes i know that heating its very rapid while under charge..expecially now that its so hot during day and cant dissipate...in may when i bought s4 had less problem
i think i must think to buy an extended battery to play more than 2 hours hehehe are they already on stores?
Almost every good phone gets hot now and then. My rooted S4 barely gets hot. I mean i flashed a great rom (omega rom) and flashed an amazing kernel (perseus) and played a bit with cpu voltages and i undervolted my cpu and it barely gets hot , and when it does , it does not get very hot .

i tryed to underclock processors but, maybe i just made a mistake, i saw the battery drop much faster...i setted max speed at 1.2 last time but never tried again

I thought I was going crazy, but YES, the phone gets unusualy hot just below the camera.
I noticed this right after performing the Apps2SD update, and since then have been freaking out!
I am afraid that constant heating and cooling of this kind can damage the sensitive parts inside,
so I have been limiting my use of the phone in the last few days.
People, this is not normal. Somebody needs to contact Samsung.
There must be a software patch for this...?!
Oh yesss!! Let's make another thread about overheating -___- It's already known that this happens, so you better get used to it.
Me Gusta!
Hi,
I hope it's the right forum for this kind of technical problems...
I've been having some temperature problems for a long while and my battery was draining extremely fast, so, I ordered a new battery on ebay (tagged 100% genuine, branded LG and everything...). I installed the new battery, which seems to work better than the last one, except the heat problem... my phone is heating up extremely fast and when it's hot you can't charge it, it charges like 10% per hour, meaning I need to turn of my phone and let it cool to get a proper charge.
Also, once is hot i'm getting the same rapid battery drain than I had before... The biggest problem is that the old battery was glued so tightly to the phone that I had to damage it in order to get it out, so I can't try to see if the old battery solves the problem.
Anyone has encountered similar temp problems?
Is there anything I can do except buying a new phone?
Thanks!

This may sound silly, but are you having heat issues when you have no aftermarket applications loaded..?
Or are you resetting it, then loading up all the apps again?

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a new note 4 St N910C. Just after a day of usage I felt that it is getting hot when I play games on it. I closed all the background apps even resetted it but still no luck. My phone is getting heated up near the camera area. My question is that is this a hardware issue or a software one, because if it is a hardware issue I should try and get it replaced, if a software one I should better wait for a lollipop update.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated
Thanks

Sorry for the late reply,
I installed a cpu temperature app, and it shows me that my cpu temperature is 36-38 degrees while playing games, also I noticed that after hearing up some of the games start to lag up a little. Any recommendations?

Well i bought this unit after along study of whether to get the exynos version or the snapdragon version, in my opinion I found the exynos to be better because many users suggested that this version does not heat up and works better, but now as I'm using it personally I think it heats up alot, the temperature I get is around 36-38 degrees.

Galaxy Note 4 heating [camera]
I purchased Galaxy Note 4 [SM-N910G] a week back. It's on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat)
I am having a different problem for which I could not find any satisfying solution on the Internet. Whenever I open camera app, the phone starts heating up near camera & battery also drains very quickly [around 2% under 5 min.]
I know that the phone will heat up a little bit when playing high graphics games, but I don't think it should heat up too much when using camera app.
I have already factory reset [both soft & hard reset] the phone, but still it does not help. I contacted Samsung support, & they told me to 'Reset app preferences' from Application manger, but still the device heats up when using camera app.
I also cleared data of the camera app, but still the issue remains
The phone does not heat up at all on standby mode, but opening camera app raises it's temperature more than it should. Previously a Note 2 user, this problem was not there.
Anyone else experiencing the same issue on Note 4 ? Any ideas on this ?
The phone heats up only if you're recording 4k or 2k video. If you use camera generally & your device heats up.You must get your device checked

You can factory reset all day, it won't help. Thats not a problem, the camera just uses a lot of processor power and thus generates heat. You can't change that, you have to live with it

Sorry, but do you have any idea about CPU temperatures? 60 isn't bad. 40 isn't bad. 30 isn't bad. Even 70° and occasionally 79° would be acceptable. Don't put your phone into the freezer, ity not good to freeze the hardware.. Especially if you literally have no problem. The CPU is prone to temperature fluctuations and your values are fully normal in the world of CPUs. There is no best value, everything up to 70° is the normal temperature variation. Your phone doesn't have a problem, its perfectly fine.
Mine actually heats up while charging and using at same time. Clean master shows 70-75°C cpu temperature while using browser and stuff but 80+ while gaming, that's not normal right? I'm worried cuz I always used my old phones while charging and they never got this hot, I feel like it will melt someday :/ In what temperatures exynos operates?
I got my SM-N910F yesterday and installed LP 5.0.1 via OTA. Temperatures are 40+ when the phone isnt doing anything. While I did the Antutu Benchmark, it was around 50-52 degrees (Celsius). Feels much warmer than my previous Note 3 (which of course never had LP). And since i am not used to this temparature on my Note 3, i kinda worry about the temps right now. I read a lot that many have that problem since LP update. So whats normal and what would be too high for regular usage (not using Camera or playing Games) ? Is there an average i can go by and compare ?
And whats my alternatives now if I want lower temps , go back to 4.4.4 Stock Rom (currently have LP 5.0.1 Stock) or do I try a 5.x Custom ROM . Did the Custom ROMS fixed these heating problems or is that just something I have to live with ?
Thanks for any help.
