Hi Developers. Novices and newbies get confused between Stock Roms and Custom Roms terms. What I feel That all company officcial firmware with official kernels may be called simply as Samsung Roms while all other Roms such as modified roms, tailermade roms, etc leaked romas may be termed as Custom Roms (as they are being called now). Andriod OS may added. Sumsung GB Rom, Samsung ICS Rom- Custom GB Rom, Custom ICS roms. So the other company roms-htc rom, motorolo rom, sony rom etc.
The distinction makes more sense if they're called Touchwiz/stock-based roms and AOSP/CM/Kang roms. What you suggest will only serve to lengthen the name of a ROM which is already for Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 (remember that ROMS can be found outside of Note-only forums, as well as using Google, and it's important to have the device name.)

This phone has been on the market for some time now and there are almost no custom Roms for this phone. There are certainly no Froyo roms. Is there a problem with development? Did samsung release all the drivers needed?
there are in fact many custom ROMs already.
but the guys making the custom ROMs are waiting for Froyo to be released, before they go crazy on it (same here)
Samsung is releasing Froyo sometimes in September, just in time for back to school
for the time being i'm mostly evaluating all the softwares i wat to include into my own custom ROM once froyo has been released, and also building a list of build in apps that i don't use and want to remove
you can install any of the many available custom ROMs already from the DEV section just search for [ROM]
Samsung have released the source code, but reportedly the drivers are encrypted. This means all custom roms for the near future will need to be based off the official (and leaked) Samsung releases with just optimisations (eg: MoDaCo R3) or theming (eg: SamSet 1.6), but no ports or AOSP until the drivers can be recovered.
However, work has started on Cyanogen 6.0 for Galaxy S. They are stil very much in the initial stages however.
Official Froyo is due sometime in August (Korean release), so it's easiest to just wait for that and then go from there. However, we may get some leaks early if the stream of beta firmwares (still 2.1) is anything to go by.
Actually i'm quite sure Paul said that next MoDaCo release won't be based on an official samsung firmware, so I think it's just a matter of time and many ROMs will appear.

Specificaly for I9082/L, I suggest moderators update the post on Stock custom ROMS with some important attributes aside of name of the ROM, helping people to choose quickly your rom model.
For example, I need I9082L compatible ROMs, with two-sim capabilities. So my roms must be based on stock.
So maybe we can create a table listing with this fields
ROM NAME / Version
Developer
Release Date
Based on (Stock 4.1.2/ Stock 4.2.2/CM10/AOSP/AOKP, etc)
Two-SIM (yes/no)
i9082L Compatible?
Odexed/Deodexed?
Other features,etc...
And so on.
Not all persons will be able to understand this (newbies will always make questions), but as long we keep reading posts, this will become a self-service page, just go to post and choose your desired rom model.
Thanks for this space

I dont think that any custom ROM will have Dual-Sim capabilities, except for Stock ROM Deodexed. Custom ROM are based on Google's Open Source and Open Kang (AOSP/AOKP) projects, and the Dual SIM system is Samsung's proprietary framework.
If you need your Dual SIM, keep the stock firmware, if you want to mod the firmware, the you might want to Deodex, just remember, Deodexed firmware are slightly larger than odexed.
Cheers,
Paul
I understand KNOX doesn't block you from installing custom ROMS, but only makes what appears to be an irreversible counter flash. Is that the main reason why we haven't seen non Stock-based custom ROMS (like PAC) appear yet on our pages? Thanks everyone
I think it is that
A) the device is still quite new, and so development is jusrpt starting
B) official cyanogen mod (admittedly being built currently) hasn't been released, and as most ROMs use CM as a base, or for kernel/other important ROM parts, nothing can really happen till after that
HitBobLer covered the most reasons I guess, also it may be because that lots of people won't use a ROM without S Pen functionality and implementing that into ROMs takes more time.
Hi people. I have been into custom ROMs on my Note 3 (SM-N900W8) in the past, and never found a stable one. So I ended up reverting back to stock Samsung and just using my phone the old fashioned, boring way. Now that I see a newer version of each of the ROMs I've tried, I'm thinking that I may want to get back into installing custom ROMs again.
I can't quite remember what the rules of engagement were when it comes to kernels associated to certain ROMs. I really want to go back to KitKat, as it was my favorite Android version. Right now, I'm on Samsung's stock 5.0 firmware.
AFAIK, you need a pre-5.0 kernel in order to install anything below 5.0. Is that correct? Also, if I wanted to try an Android 6 or 7 ROM (just for the hell of it), am I required to use a different kernel?
Like I said, I'm way out of the loop and need to be re-educated. I'm not even sure what to really search anymore.
Bonus Question: What's the most stable and bug-free Note 3 (Qualcomm) ROM out there?
Thanks people :good::good::good::laugh:

YES

Stock Rom
Went to Costco and picked one up fairly cheap. Not going to be heartbroken if no custom ROMs but would -like- a more AOSP experience as I've never particularly liked Samsungness.
I looked around a good bit but not having any luck beyond rooting existing ROM and debloated stock ROMs. Are there any unofficial LineageOS or other 3rd party ROMs that support the SM-T380? WiFi-only version so no modem support needed.
Bumping thread. I see there is a root option available but not any roms. Are any of the roms for other models compatible with the T380? Would love something clean with AOSP or no bloatware.
