[Q] app2sd and CyanogenMod 9 nightlies - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

How to make app2sd work in CyanogenMod 9 nightlies?
I have 1gb ext partition and it works with any other rom.

Use Link2SD from the Play store or see the A2SD discussion for NexusHD2, as I assume the solutions would be largely the same as for the CM9 nightlies.

I've tried to flash 40ad2sdx-a2Recovery.zip but it didn't work out.
Thank you =)

[Q] CM6.1/CM7 + Froyo/Eclair Stock Kernek - Will it work?

Hey guys,
Since I've still experience a problem with bluetooth with cyanogen roms,
I thought maybe I can replace the kernel which comes with CM 6.1/CM7
with the stock froyo kerenl or even eclair kernel - I 100% know that there is no bt problems for me with these kernels....
But if I do it, will CM work ok? Am I still be able to use data2ext to move apps to sd card?
Appreciate any help.
It might do. Be careful, backup. Bluetooth seems to work fine in later builds though

Thnaks TGF, but is your data2ext script also supported for stock kernel?
An why you say that ext4 version is safer than ext2 version?
How safer?

As long as the ROM runs scripts from /system/etc/init.d the will at least run. Ext4 won't corrupt all your data if you do a battery pull

[Q] partition layouts

Hi.
How do i know which of the partition layouts to choose for myself:
cLK 150MB System/5MB Cache (ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.2.5)
or
cLK 140MB System/5MB Cache (ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.2.5)?
the rom you want to dlash will usually tell you what to use.
Or, if you unzip the rom, check the size of the system folder once extracted, , make the partition size a little bigger, , say 5, 10 meg.
more infos please
which rom you want to flash? it depends on the rom which partition layout you need.
greetings

Are u talking of this [25.May.11][MAG/cLK]TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.3.3[2.3.4][A2SD][tytung r10]? Cuz if u are then i really don't think u should be flashing such a build seeing as u r fairly new to the flashing world...XDA user "Tyween" seemed quite clear when he wrote ;
"With the help of crawlingcity and rafpigna on IRC, I bring you my CyanogenMod 7 ROM flashable by CWM. Currently A 140MB system partition and 5MB cache partition is required. Any system partition over 140MB will work, but will leave less NAND space for /data/ (which means less room for internally installed applications). The system partition size of this ROM used to be 125MB, but it has grown in size. With that said, 140MB is fine for now, but 150MB is what I would recommend to people who would rather not bother with repartitioning later if the system size grows again. Links to both 140MB and 150MB partition sizes are linked to later in this post. I plan to update this to the latest nightly frequently and keep up with the latest fixes. The purpose of this build is to port the latest stock CyanogenMod 7 Desire (bravo) base to HD2 with the minimal amount of changes required with no custom apps. Keep in mind that this is my personal build and I am sharing it with you."
The above "1st' paragraph means since d system partition used 2 be 125MB but has recently grown to 140MB then its most likely it'll increase in d future to 150MB, so its best to flash 150MB NOW rather than have to re-wipe ur partition ( & ROM) ltr on...So just flash 150MB.

you right!
thank you
but i've downloaded this 150 version, but can't flash...
getting error
yeah cLK is more difficult to flash than MAGLDR, but there are a lot of guides you can use. Just look into the Stickies-Rollup-Thread in the NAND developers forum.
I think there are better roms to flash than the Typhoon CM7 (its a good one but with a lot of little problems). You can try the CM7 of Pongsters Hyperdroid which is a lot faster thanCM7 builds and there are a lot of informations in his Thread(FAQ).
Hope i can help you out with this informations.

[Q] Data2SD

Hi,
I have read this thread in desire forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10692249&postcount=1299
Is it possible to use this on HD2? I have tried that but it doesn't work.
I'm using imilka's incredible rom.

Hi,
Check through the ROMS...
http://android.hd2roms.com/
Some use Data2SD.Others ,like Imilka,use A2SD.
Imilka, swears by his method, saying it's faster and more stable.
The only way you will know for sure is to try different ROMS,and make up your own mind.
Ok thanks.
I like Data2SD more. So i couldn't change from app2sd to data2sd in imilka's rom?

I think it's all determined in the installation.
So you might want to start with a data2sd ROM.

There is many roms that use sd-ext specifically for Data2SD here. Instead of just apps moving to SD partition it will use the partition as internal memory.
You wont get many rom titles saying one way or teh other, You will need to go look, read and try some.

[Q] Stable 2.2 or 2.1 ROM

Hello,
I've tried a few roms on my LG GT540: lately "CyanogenMod 6: mikegapinski", "Project Utopia: miroslav_mm" and "SwiftDroid's Little Brother: mur4ik".
All of them have some issues: in some the SD card doesn't work, in others doesn't work the camera and yet in others doesn't work the WiFi.
What are the most stable 2.1 or 2.2 ROMs (2.3 takes too much battery..) where everything works?
Is it possible to have fastboot with the 2.1 stock ROM? If it's possible I think I'd go back to that one...

Thanks! It's working great so far, although I miss the features of 2.2.
I'll keep this one until I get a few spare days to test new 2.2 ROMs.

Yes, Utopia and mikegapinski's ROM couldn't see my SD card.
Is there a fix for that? Couldn't find a solution in the Utopia thread... If there's a way to fix it, I'll try Utopia again in some days...

maybe you can try to wipe the SD-Card and repartition it. You can create a sd-ext and swap-partition.
since i did that i never had any problems in any rom (8 GB )

I already changed the partitions of my SD card (the 2GB stock one) some time ago, shrinking the FAT partition and adding a little ext2 partition at the end of the disk.
Some ROMs can see it (usually the older ones), while others can't (the most recent ones).
As soon as I get some spare time I'll try to destroy and recreate the partition table and then to flash some other 2.2 ROM...
Thanks for the suggestions!
I was anxious to try Utopia again.
Repartitioned the SD card again (this time erasing and recreating all the partitions, instead of resizing them) and everything is working!
Hope this Utopia will last long without problems!

You could fairly easily make one yourself, just open the ROM's .zip and delete any apps, ringtones, bootanimations, notification sounds etc. that you don't use. You may be able to get it under 155MB that way.

You can use Link2SD or ROM's with DataOnEXT script (only if you have EXT partition on SD)

yep, A2SD, Check the script in my signature. Its very useful, Even if u bring it down to 155mb, still doesnt leave alot left

will it work on jb rom ?
i v heard that a2sd scripts make some trobbles with ics and jb roms
Sent from my HTC HD2
get a good sd card.. then it will work fine.. for example..
Kingston 8GB Class 4 (works very bad!)
Kingston 4GB Class 4 (works fine..)
but nand is much faster even on EU HD2.. i have 205MB partition (system)..
deleted maps.. youtube. and few unnecessary apps.. and have still 100+MB of free space for apps.. few you can move to SD and its okay!

I think using dataonext and nativeSD is much better than a2sd. Most of JB roms support both.

I used it mainly for ICS because at the time, i coudnt find any script that woudnt slow down the phone, except this one. It works on ICS for sure, no problems or anything. You will have to try it on JB for yourself. I personally dont think it will create any problems but still make a backup

The int2ext script IS basically dataonext.
